Abstract

This research and development study aims at investigating the effectiveness of an instructional model in improving teaching competencies of physics teacher candidates. The data were collected through observation, tests, portfolios, and field notes, and then analyzed using gain-score and Z-test. The study shows that the model being developed improves students competencies in designing, implementing, and evaluating instructions, as the model integrates knowledge of physics concepts to methods of teaching them; it is more practical; and it is teacher-candidate centered.

Abstract

Abstract: Isomorphic problems are problems having different feature but same concept. Isomorphic problems can help students to identify concepts and the relevant information in problem solving process. The purpose of this study are to know student’s problem solving skills, to know the student’s difficulties in solving isomorphic problems, and to know the effect of isomorphic problem on student’s problem solving skill. This research used a mixed methods approach with the embedded design. The study was conducted on XI grade SMAN 5 Malang consist of 32 students. Physics concepts that were studied are simple harmonic motion.Key words: isomorphic problems, problem solving skill, simple harmonic motion Abstrak: Permasalahan isomorfik adalah permasalahan yang memiliki perbedaan besaran dalam soal namun memiliki konsep sama. Permasalahan isomorfik dapat membantu siswa mengidentifikasi konsep dan informasi yang relevan dalam proses pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa, kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan isomorfik, dan pengaruh permasalahan isomorfik terhadap keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan embedded design. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas XI IPA 5 SMAN 5 Malang dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 32 siswa. Konsep fisika yang dipelajari adalah gerak harmonis sederhana.Kata kunci: permasalahan isomorfik, keterampilan pemecahan masalah, gerak harmonis sederhana

Abstract

The application of teacher centered learning in classroom is causing the underdevelopment of students problem solving ability and students activity in learning. Interactive demonstration is an active learning model developed by Wenning. Through interactive demonstrations, students can use the basic intellectual process skills that includes predicting, explaining, estimating, acquiring and processing data, formulating and revising scientific explanations using logic and evidence, and recognizing and analyzing alterative xplanations and models. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of interactive learning demonstration toward students' problem solving ability. This research was mixed method research with embedded design. The sample is selected by purposive sampling method, that was the grade X MIA 1 students of SMAN 1 Bangil. The results of this study indicate that there is the effect of interactive demonstration learning and that learning can enhance students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Newtons law is one of the materials of Physics which is still considered difficult by students, thus causing the skills to solve low Physics problems. Good problem solving skills will make it easier for students to understand the concepts being studied. This study aims to determine whether there is influence of Interactive Demonstration learning model on problem solving skills on Newton law’s. This research is an experimental research. The sample consisted of 33 students of grade X SMAN 1 Singosari. Technique of data analysis in this research use paired t test statistic and N-gain. The Results paired t test obtained t value = 33.664 with a significance of 0.000 smaller than 0. This result shows that there is influence of Interactive Demonstration learning model on Newton law’s problem solving skills in grade X SMAN 1 Singosari students.Hukum Newton merupakan salah satu materi Fisika yang masih dianggap sulit oleh siswa, sehingga menyebabkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah Fisika yang rendah. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang baik akan memudahkan siswa untuk memahami konsep yang sedang dipelajari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh model pembelajaran Interactive Demonstration terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada materi hukum Newton. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 33 siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Singosari. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan uji statistik paired t test dan N-gain. Hasil paired t test diperoleh nilai t = 33,664 dengan signifikansi 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,00. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Interactive Demonstration terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah materi hukum Newton pada siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Singosari.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze relationship between thinking skill pattern and students’ conceptual acquisition on metacognitive strategy assisted by thinking map. This mixed method research (embedded experimental design) was conducted at junior high school students and used conceptual acquisition test (posttest) and observation paper. The observation paper was used to analyze students’ thinking skill pattern by using thinking map. The result of this research showed that students who had high thinking skill pattern reachedhigh conceptual acquisition score too. This physics conceptual acquisition score showed students’ cognitive process grade. Conclusion of this research is the relationship between thinking skill pattern and junior high school students’ physics conceptual acquisition is exist.

Abstract

Scientific reasoning pattern and problem solving ability has an important role in learning physics which associate multiple concept. The study was conducted to describe the change in the pattern category reasoning, problem solving ability level synthesis of physics, and investigate the relationship between the pattern of scientific reasoning and problem solving abilities synthesis of physics students. This study uses a mixed method embedded experimental design. The research instrument used is the treatment and measurement instruments. Changes in the student category intuitive reasoning patterns influenced by the knowledge and experience of students in daily life. Student’s Problem solving ability level of synthesis problem at most are novice level. Novice student solve the problem without recognizing the concept and have a tendency to plug and chug limited to the equation they remembered. The pattern of scientific reasoning and problem solving abilities synthesis of physics has a positive relation.Pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah memiliki peranan penting dalam pembelajaran fisika yang mengaitkan lebih dari satu konsep. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan kategori pola penalaran, tingkat kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika, dan mengetahui hubungan antara pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan embedded mixed method desain experimental model. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen perlakuan dan pengukuran. Perubahan kategori pola penalaran intuisi siswa dipengaruhi oleh pengetahuan dan pengalaman siswa di lingkungan. Tingkat kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika siswa paling banyak adalah novice. Siswa novice menyelesaikan masalah tanpa mengenali konsep dan memiliki kecenderungan plug dan chug sebatas persamaan yang mereka ingat. Pola penalaran ilmiah dan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah sintesis fisika memiliki hubungan yang positif.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the role of TPACK toward the lesson plan designing ability. Subjects of this research are 19 prospective physics teachers that rolled in P3F class that taught with the POST-PACK learning model. Research design that researcher applied is mixed method embedded experimental model. Results of analysis data show that TPACK has important role and has strong influence toward the lesson plan designing ability. Besides that, results of this research show that the TPACK and the lesson plan designing ability of prospective physics teachers increased because the intervention.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peranan TPACK terhadap kemampuan menyusun perangkat pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian adalah sembilan belas calon guru fisika yang mengikuti perkuliahann P3F yang diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran POST-PACK. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed method embedded experimental model. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa TPACK memiliki peranan yang penting dan memiliki pengaruh yang kuat terhadap kemampuan menyusun perangkat pembelajaran. Selain itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TPACK dan kemampuan menyusun perangkat pembelajaran calon guru fisika mengalami peningkatan dikarenakan perlakuan yang diberikan.

Abstract

Learning science in junior high school in general is focused on mastery of concepts and basic science has not yet developed abilities, such as the ability berinkuiri. Therefore, it is necessary to find the appropriate steps to improve the process of learning science. The purpose of the study iniuntuk improve learning outcomes by using the skill aspect of inquiry learning model level. The method used in this research is mixed method. The instrument used is the syllabus, lesson plans, and the observation sheet keterampilan.Teknik data collection using observation. Aspects of data analysis skills using data reduction method, coding and interpretation. Results of research conducted on 36 students showed the ability berinkuiri learners increased by using the model level of inquiry. Results of learners aspect of overall skill increases with the good category. The conclusion from this study that the use of models level of inquiry to improve the ability berinkuiri learners and improve learning outcomes aspects of science skills of learners.Pembelajaran IPA di SMP pada umumnya masih menekankan pada penguasaan konsep dan belum mengembangkan kemampuan dasar sains, seperti kemampuan berinkuiri.Oleh karena itu perlu ditemukan langkah yang tepat untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran IPA. Tujuan dari penelitian iniuntuk meningkatkan hasil belajar aspek keterampilan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran level of inquiry. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu mixed methode. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu Silabus, RPP dan lembar observasi keterampilan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi. Analisis data aspek keterampilan dengan menggunakan cara mereduksi data, pengkodean dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada 36 peserta didik menunjukkan kemampuan berinkuiri peserta didik mengalami peningkatan dengan menggunakan model level of inquiry. Hasil belajar peserta didik aspek keterampilan secara keseluruhan meningkat dengan dengan kategori baik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa penggunaan model Level of Inquiry dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berinkuiri peserta didik dan juga meningkatkan hasil belajar aspek keterampilan IPA peserta didik.

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of problem based learning on students’ skill in solving torque problems. The research method is Mixed Method with embedded experimental design model. Research subjects consist of 32 students of SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. Data were collected through pretest and posttest using test, questionnaire, and interview. The result of N-Gain score shows that the improvement of students’ skill in solving torque problems is in high category and the result of d-cohen effect size is in strong category. This result shows that problem-based learning can improve students skill in solving torque problems.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah momen gaya. Metode penelitian ini adalah Mixed Method dengan model embedded experimental design. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 32 siswa SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest menggunakan tes, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Hasil perhitungan N-Gain score menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan momen gaya dalam kategori tinggi dan hasil perhitungan d-cohen effect size dalam kategori kuat. Hasil ini menunjukkan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah momen gaya.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the students’ comprehension of the concept of hydrostatic pressure and the law of Archimedes through discovery learning. The subjects of the study were VIII-A SMPK Citra Bangsa Kupang, Province of East Nusa Tenggara in the academic year 2016/2017. The data of this study consisted of quantitative and qualitative data. The instruments used in the study were pretest and posttest in the form of reasoned  multiple choice. The result of data analysis of concept comprehension showed that the posttest average score was 83.33 and it was greater than the pretest score that achieved  46.66. The calculation of d-effect size was 2.73 (very high category) and N-gain was 0.69 (medium category). Thus, it is concluded that the discovery learning model has a positive impact on the improvement of concept comprehension.Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep tekanan hidrostatis dan hokum Archimedes siswa melalui pembelajaran discovery. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIA SMPK Citra Bangsa Kupang, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Data penelitian terdiri atas data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu pretes dan postes dalam bentuk pilihan ganda beralasan. Hasil analisis data pemahaman konsep menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata postes 83,33 lebih besar daripada skor rata-rata pretes 46,66. Perhitungan d-effect size sebesar 2,73 (kategori sangat tinggi) dan N-gain sebesar 0,69 (kategori sedang). Maka, disimpulkan bahwa model discovery learning memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep.
