Abstract

Live coral cover at Sempu Nature Reserve was decrease from 50% in 2006 to 36% in 2013. Adverse human activities such as: over-fishing, recreational activities, waste disposal, deforestation, reef mining and deforestation were suggested to be main factors for declining coral reef at this area. Restoration is defined as the act of returning an ecosystem, as nearly as possible, to its original condition. Coral on Sendang Biru laid on northern area of Sempu Island. Coral garden was establish in the end of 2013. Aim of this research was to know the growth (wide, number of branches, growth rate) of staghorn coral that was transplanted on steel frame at coral garden in different depth. Staghorn coral were tied on doom shaped steel in 6 m depth. The result showed that the average of increasing staghorn coral's area was 56. 91 cm2, number of branch increase was 55 and growth rate was 5.23 cm2/month respectively. Increase of depth will influence to decrease of sunlight intensity in water will be affected on calcification rate of coral. GR of staghorn coral in Sempu was higher than other area.

Abstract

Terumbu karang memiliki fungsi yang sangat penting didalam menunjang aktivitas di wilayah pesisir. Keberadan terumbu karang di alam saat ini mulai mengalami kerusakan, karusakan yang terjadi bersumber dari beberapa faktor diantaranya faktor antropogenik dan faktor alam. Kerusakan yang di timbulkan dari faktor alam diantaranya oleh pemangsaan beberapa spesies, proses bioerosi dan proses kompetitor. Kompetitor merupakan suatu organisme yang dapat mengangu keseimbangan hidup organisme lainya. Penelitin mengenai kompetitor terumbu karang dilakukan dengan metode transek kuadran dan reef check megabenthos yang dilakukan di dua stasiun penelitian yang telah ditentukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa organisme kompetitor terumbu karang di perairan Pantai Putri Menjangan diantaranya adalah makro alaga, crown of thorns fish dan drupella.IDENTIFICATION OF CORAL REEF COMPETITORS ORGANISM IN PUTRI MENJANGAN WATERS, BULELENG, BALIABSTRACTCoral reef have very important function for supporting activity in coastal areas. Recently the existence of coral has been degraded and faced threat from bath of antropogenics and natural factor. Predation, bioerosion and competitor among sessil organism has been to be the most lichtiest problem that really direct impact on coral reef. Data has been take by using of quadrant transect and reef check megabenthos metod in two research stations. Abstract

Conservation is one form of natural resource management have been damaged. There are many types of area management one of which is community base management. Nature Conservation Forum Putri Menjangan is a group of people who have an interest in the management of natural resources, especially on mangrove ecosystems and coral reef ecosystems, in addition to conservation activities are also carried out data collection species start from mangrove, coral reef, reef fishes and other organisms that live in Putri Menjangan waters. Mangrove forest conservation is done through reforestation in areas which have a low mangrove cover, whereas for coral reef conservation activities carried out through coral transplantation and garbage clean up activity in coral reef ecosystems both of trash and competitor organism found on coral reef ecosystems.Keywords: reforestation, transplantation, clean up

Abstract

Pantai Kondang Merak has a biodiversity of marine resources, so that the community always depend on exploration and exploitation activities through fishing, and catch lobster, sea cucumber, abalone and some of algae with diving activities. The diving activities usually in 5-30 m depth in reef area, using air compressor that will danger their live. This compressor has long regulator hose (about 50 m), during diving process the hose will be tied in their waist with 5-7 kg lead, it similar with weight belt in SCUBA diving. The hose also has other function as keep the diver from water current drifting. This method will disrupt the air supply from compressor to mouth face and endanger the life of diver. The safety diving standard is using a SCUBA set, that has a portable air supply and clean air, unlike the air that resulted by the conventional compressor. The aim of this activity is to give safe diving method and give ecotourism skill to the fisherman in Kondang Merak, thus avoiding fisherman from decompression sickness and seek alternative livelihood during west monsoon.

Abstract

Kondang Merak laid on South of Malang facing of Indian Ocean. This area had small fisheries village which inhibited by 30 families. 12 fisheries worked as compressor diver who collect lobster and abalone surrounding of reef in Kondang Merak. Those commodity usually hand collected by fishermen using compressor dive. During dive fishermen ignored depth, bottom time or tools that they used. We are introduced self contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA) training for fishermen. Aims of this training were to give: knowledge about diving and physical and environment aspect influence dive activity; technical use of SCUBA and caring for diving apparatus. Good skill and technic will obviate fishermen from decompression sickness disease (DCS) and nitrogen narcosis which have dangerous impact for health of fisherman in Kondang Merak. Keywords: Kondang Merak, compresor diver, SCUBA, DCS, compressor

Abstract

Sate tuna is the main menu Kondang Merak Beach area. The product is only sold in limited area, Merak Kondang, due to constrained by geography and food safety (hygiene). The aim of this activity was to improve the quality of sate tuna with processing hygiene and good packaging technology. It is an effort being made to improve the distribution of product marketing tuna satay. Community as producer of sate tuna has been given the knowledge fish handling, choosing tuna meat, sate processing and vacuum packaging technology. From these activity was resulted product of red and white sate, pepes tuna (grilled tuna meat) with good and hygienic packaging. We also gave motivation and business development skill to the community in Kondang Merak.

Abstract

Tambak Rejo is village in south of Malang has two hamlets there were Dusun Tambak Rejo and Dusun Sendang Biru. This village under Kecamatan Sumbermanjing Wetan which has coast line for 85.92 km. Sendang Biru became center of fisheries activities due to directly facing of Hindian Ocean that rich with pelagic fish such as tuna, tongkol and lobster. In this village there was a Nusantara fisheris landing port that allowed vehicle more than 30 GT lean. 500 m in front Sendang Biru laid a Sempu Natur Preserve that still has origin flora and fauna inside. The red color land in Sendang Biru has proved that this area rich on Fe and Al also many natural carst can be found easely. The aim of this program were to build coral garden in Sempu Island water and to educate community the importance of coral. Coral garden used steel frame with doom and pyramid shape. Coral will have transplanted and tied into frame until growth well. The donor coral was Acropora sp (representative of branching coral), Goniastrea aspera (massive coral) and Leptoseris yabei (foliose coral). We used participatory rural appraisal (PRA) to envolve communities in this program.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to assess the condition and distribution of stony corals Scleractinian order at Karang Pakiman reef, Bawean Islands, Gresik. This research was conducted in May 2014. The biophysical conditions of coral reefs data were collected using line transect that placed on a line with the coastline, following the depth contours of the bottom waters and the geographical position was determined with GPS. The result showed that the condition of coral reefs in the study site was varied on the status of bad to good. Scleractinian coral in Karang Pakiman, Bawean spread over reef flat, reef crest, and reef slope zones. The main component of the coral reef at Karang Pakiman was Acroporidae, Faviidae, and Poritidae, while Poritidae and Faviidae family which were dominated by the coral massive (CM) life form and to be a constituent of coral reef ecosystems in the study site. The Diversity Index (H) was 1.72; Evenness Index (E) was 0.58, and Dominance Index (C) was 0.62. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi dan distribusi karang keras Ordo Scleractinia di gosong Karang Pakiman, Pulau Bawean, Gresik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Bulan Mei 2014 di perairan Pulau Bawean, Gresik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian survei / deskriptif. Materi penelitian adalah karang keras yang diidentifikasi sampai tingkat spesies. Pengumpulan data kondisi bio – fisik terumbu karang dilakukan dengan menggunakan transek garis dan transek kuadran yang diletakkan sejajar garis pantai, mengikuti kontur dasar perairan. Posisi geografis penelitian ditentukan dengan GPS. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan kondisi terumbu karang di lokasi penelitian berada pada status buruk sampai dengan baik. Karang keras di gosong Karang Pakiman, Pulau Bawean tersebar pada zona reef flat, reef crest, dan reef slope. Penyusun utama ekosistem terumbu karang pada lokasi penelitian terdiri dari 3 famili, yaitu Acroporidae, Faviidae, dan Poritidae. Life form CM yang didominasi oleh famili Poritidae dan Faviidae merupakan bentuk pertumbuhan utama karang keras penyusun ekosistem terumbu karang di lokasi penelitian. Nilai H’ adalah 1,72; nilai E adalah 0,58 dan nilai C adalah 0,62.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the coral reef condition in Sempu’s strait. This research has beeb conducted at December 2017 used PIT method in four research stations i.e. Teluk Semut 1, Teluk Semut 2, Watu Meja and Fish Apartement. In generally the substrate of Sempu strait was devided into two categories, they were living and non-living substrate. Living substrate include HC, SC, NIA, SP and OT while non-living were RKC, RC, RB, SD and SI. Station 1 was dominated by hard coral (33.75%), station 2 and 3 was by rock (59.38% and 40.63%), and station 4 was dominated by sand (39.38%) respectively. Based on the monitoring, the coral reefs ecosystem of Sempu Strait was categorised in damaged condition. It could be seen by the high covering of dead coral and the low covering of healthy coral along observed stations. The coral reefs rehabilitation program is needed to recover the reefs ecosystem in Sempu Strait.                                                          Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi terumbu karang di Selat Sempu dengan cara mengetahui susunan dari substrat dasar perairannya. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan pada Desember 2016 dengan menggunakan metode PIT di empat stasiun penelitian yaitu Teluk Semut 1, Teluk Semut 2, Watu Meja dan Fish Apartement. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa substrat dasar perairan di Selat Sempu terbagai atas dua yaitu living (HC, SC, NIA, SP dan OT) dan non-living (RKC, RC, RB, SD dan SI). Stasiun 1 didominasi oleh hard coral (33,75%), stasiun 2 didominasi oleh rock (59,38%), stasiun 3 didominasi oleh rock (40,63%), dan stasiun 4 didominasi oleh sand (39,38%). Berdasarkan monitoring yang telah dilakukan, ekosistem terumbu karang di Selat Sempu telah mengalami kerusakan hal ini dapat dilihat dari tingginya tutupan karang mati dan rendahnya tutupan karang hidup yang ditemukan di sepanjang stasiun penelitian yang dilakukan. Program rehabilitasi terumbu karang sangat diperlukan untuk memulihkan kembali kondisi ekosistem karang di Selat Sempu.

Abstract

Pacitan is an area that is prone to earthquakes. Pacitan area in terms of the geological conditions of the area potentially affected by the threat of earthquakes, both centered in the sea (subduction zones) and on the ground in the form of active faults. The method used is the active participation and interviews. The process of detection as well as records of earthquakes assisted using Software SeisComP3. On display there SeisComP3 Indonesia map with symbols of the triangle which is the station that placed their vibration detectors of earthquakes throughout Indonesia. Based on the data of earthquakes during the last 6 months, have occurred 15 earthquakes in Pacitan and the surrounding area.
