Abstract

Infectious diseases HIV/AIDS is a global health problem. According to WHO (2000) reported that 58 million people in the world are infected with HIV, within the 22 million people died from AIDS or 7000 people die every day. HIV Infection caused decrease and disorder of humoral and cellular immunity. Intestinal mucosal normally shows a physiologic inflamation that account for intestinal mucosal integrity. Diarhhea in HIV infection due to immune deficiency can caused by pathogen and non pathogen. Acute and chronic diarrhea usually found in HIV infection patient, the latter is more frequent. HIV enteropathy cause chronic diarrhea without pathogen infection because intestinal mucous damage by HIV direct infection. Treatment is characterized as causative supportive and symptomatic treatment causal, supportive and Symptomatic. Immunonutrient is very important within management patient HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Shallot of LembahPalu variety is one of prioritized commodities in Central Sulawesi and is a raw material for fried onion processing industry which has become a local brand for Palu city.  This variety is unique different from other varieties as shown by its dense texture bulb resulting in crunchy, tastefuland unchangeable aroma when kept sealed for a long period of time. The objective of this research was to determine the nutrient status under shallot plantation in Maku village, Dolo sub district of Sigi district.  Survey was conducted on the research location where soil samples were taken purposively.  Low soil C-organic of 0.97 – 0.70% was found due to their intensive cultivation.  Soil pH was relatively neutral ranging from 7.4 – 7.6 cmol(+) kg-1.  The content of soil P-total and K-total was low varying between 17.18-15.06 mg 100g-1 and between 11.84-11.01 mg 100g-1, respectively. The soil CEC was also low around 5.91-4.08 cmol(+)kg-1.Keywords: LembahPalu shallot, and soil chemical status.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to predict soil erosion and to determine erosion threat index occurred in the Paneki watershed, Pombewe village Biromaru district Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. This study contributed as a source of information for the development of land use management as well as conservation of soil and water. Furthermore, it was important to complete a number of soil physical properties. The method used in this study was descriptive explorative by conducting survey in the research site, followed by primary and secondary data collection. In this study, it was required slope class maps, soil maps and land use maps application using ArcGIS 10.0 for obtaining four (4) land units, namely land, secondary forest, mixed farms, fields and cocoa plantations. Results of this study indicated that the physical characteristics of soil in some land use vary greatly with slow to moderate permeability, soil texture dominated by sandy loam and loam fractions. Both bulk density and C-organic content were high. Prediction of soil erosion rate using the USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) formula indicated that erosion threat index occured in Paneki watershed was classified at low to moderate levels with the average number of total allowable erosion was 74.12 tons ha-1 yr-1.
