Abstract

The success of the implementation of exclusive breastfeeding in the community is depend on the readiness of pregnant mothers in exclusive breastfeeding. This readiness is influenced by several factors including motivation and support exclusive breastfeeding by family. This study aimed to examine the empirical model that shows the motivational role as mediators of the relationship between family support of readiness pregnant mothers in exclusive breastfeeding. Cross-sectional study performed on pregnant women in Surakarta. A sample of 150 respondents mother in her first time pregnancy. The closed questionnaire of Likert scale developed to measure three variables of the study. Path analysis procedure used to test the hypothesis of motivational role as mediator relations between two other variables. The results showed that all three variables had a significant relation (p <0.001). The relationship between family support to readiness pregnant women after entering motivation as covariates remained significant but decreased significantly path coefficient (β = 0.365; p <0.001 becomes β = 0.260; p = 0.001). Thus the motivation become a mediator relationship with the family support of readiness pregnant mothers in exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Agriculture development program is so difficult to reach small farmers. Economic indicators, agricultural infrastructures, and goverment policy often cause small farmers to economical and social marginalized. Farmer less possession in land, marginal rate of return in agriculture sector, agriculture policy which nonalignment to farmer make more difficult to increase their inncome. On the other side, farmer’s institutions which are expected be able to strengthen the farmer position to face the existing problems not effectively yet.The purpose oh this research in to identify the determinant factors in capacity buliding of farmer’s institution and to formulate an appropriate strategy of extention program. This research was conducted at three district in Center Java Province, they were: Klaten, Grobogan, and Karanganyar. Data collected through interview of 405 respondents whose member of farmer’s institution, 48 local leaders, and informans. The result shows that member’s participation in farmer’s institution represent their collective awareness caused easier to manage their farm. The level of member’s participation in farmer’s institution was influenced by their capacities level, internal and external factors of farmer, e.i: (a) social and economical status of farmer, (b) needs of farmer, (c) learning experience of farmer, (d) local leadership, (e) outsider role, and (f) the quality of extention. Quality of agricultural extension, directly and indirectly, influence to farmer capacities. It increase their participation in farmer’s institution and push their institution effectiveness.

Abstract

Boyolali Regency of Central Java, Indonesia is an area that has developed organic rice cultivation. The development of the adoption rate organic rice cultivation has been conducted since 2009 and still sustainability until today. In fact, not all regions can accept and apply organic rice cultivation. This research was conducted from December 2016 to February 2017 in Boyolali Regency. This research aimed to analyze : (1) the adoption of organic rice cultivation in Boyolali Regency (2) the sustainability of organic rice cultivation in Boyolali Regency (3) the factors affecting the sustainability of organic rice cultivation in Boyolali Regency. This study was quantitative research with explanatory type. The analysis technique employed in this study was a Linear Regression; the sample consisted of 86 farmers living in the Sub Districts having widest organic rice farmland: Sambi, Mojosongo, and Andong. The result of research done by linear regression analysis using SPSS 23,0 program showed that the adoption rate of organic rice cultivation affected directly the sustainability of organic rice significantly with t-test probability (Sign) value of 0,017 less than specified α of 0,05. It indicated that seed preparation, land preparation, seeding, planting, fertilizing and maintenance affected the sustainability of organic rice cultivation in terms of economic and social.

Abstract

This research aims to explain in detail about the condition of Gapoktan institutional through activities of Reinforcement of Society Food’s Distributive Institution (Reinforcement-LDPM) at the Regency of Grobogan considered from superstructur aspect, community profiles of farmers the member of Gapoktan, and organizational profile aspect of the Gapoktan. Qualitative method and descriptive approach were used in this research. The sampling was snowball sampling technique. The technique of data collection used visceral interview, observation, and record-keeping. The tryout of data validity used triangulation source and triangulation method, whereas the data analysis used three main components, i.e. (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) drawing conclusion and verification. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that analysis of Gapoktan institutional considered from superstructure aspects including government policy which influenced Gapoktan institutional. Both the federal government and local government of Grobogan Regency have issued some policies that support the reinforcement activities of Society Food’s Distributive Institution (LDPM), but the government policy about Bulog standardization was considered that it was too difficult for Gapoktan institutional. Considered from community profile, the development of Gapoktan institutional has transpired well enough because of having sufficient asset, collective action in both of routine meeting and directive counseling, drawing conclusion by the chief of Gapoktan through discussion and coordination focus, whereas the relationship between Gapoktan institutional with the other Gapoktan has transpired well. Considered from its institutional profile, the Gapoktan still had constraints or problem. Looking to its organization system, the structure of labor units of the reinforcement activities of Society Food’s Distributive Institution (LDPM) had not been organized well. The members prefer to profitable jobs than the voluntary Gapoktan. Outsides, the institutional management and resource allocation had not well complied.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a crucial period time of life. One of the contributing factors in pregnancy is mother’s nutritional need, one of which is protein intake. A pregnant woman’s protein need must be fulfilled for the health of both mother and baby. A more active lifestyle of a pregnant woman will also induce more baby’s brain development than a less active one. To analyze the correlation between protein intake and daily activity with infant birth weight in third trimester pregnant women. Analytic observational using prospective cohort design.Independent variables are protein intake and daily activities.Protein intake data is acquired from 2x24 hours food recall, daily activity is measured using Baecke questionnaire and infant birth weight is measured using a baby scale.Sample size of this study is 109 women achieved using simple random sampling. Statistic test used was chi square test.Mean number of pregnant women’s protein intake per day is 0,68±0,469gr.Bivariate test result shows a significant correlation between protein intake and infant birth weight(p=0,000) and a sighificant correlation between daily activities and infant birth weight(p=0,000). There is a correlation between protein intake with infant birth weight in third trimester pregnant women; and there is a correlation between daily activity with infant birth weight in third trimester pregnant women.

Abstract

The aims of this study is identify soy marketing Marjin Analisys in sub-province Grobogan and active marketing institute of there, so we can know level of soy marketing margin. Result study shown marketing of soy in sub-province Grobogan entangle four componen, that is (1) farmer as producer; (2) Merchant Compiler; (3) whole Saler and (4) Consumer.

Abstract

The effectiveness farmer’s institutions were needed for the agricultural development in globalization economic era. Economic indicators, agricultural infrastructures, and government policy often cause small farmer to economical and social marginalized. On the other side, farmer’s institutions which are expected be able to strengthen the farmer position to face the existing problems not effectively yet. The purpose of this research are to: (1) Identify and explain various factors have affected on the effectiveness of farmer’s institution, and (2) Formulate an appropriate strategy in capacity building of farmer’s institution.  This Research was conducted at three district of Center Java Province, there are: Klaten, Grobogan, and Karanganyar. The result shows that effectiveness of farmer’s institution is still at medium category. Effectiveness of farmer’s institution was directly influenced by level of member’s participation in farmer’s institution, outsider role, formal education, and local leadership. Famer’s income,  the quality of extension, social participation, needs, and capacities level of farmer were indirectly influenced to the effectiveness of farmer’s institution by participation in farmer’s institution. Learning experience of famer indirectly influences to the effectiveness of farmer’s institution by capacities level of farmer. The quality of agricultural extension, directly and indirectly, influences to the farmer’s capacities. It increases their participation in farmer’s institution and push their institution effectiveness. Key word:  famer’s institution, famer’capacity , famer’s participation

Abstract

The study intends to describe the participation of farmers in the dryland crop based Land Conservation Index (LCI), describes the factors that affect the implementation of land conservation, and develop models to improve the participation of farmers in land conservation. Research carried out in Sub DAS upstream of Solo river. All of the food crop farmers from the Pundung villages totaling 68 family heads as respondents. The results of a study of farmers in conserving land at a moderate level. Model to improve the implementation of land conservation is increasing: land area, ownership ruminants, a family member who worked, and level of education, and empowerment to increase participation in land conservation in the parameter is still low, namely: planting plants to strengthen terracing, mulching or manure, planting annual crops on sloping land, crop rotation, and a sense of responsibility of farmers.

Abstract

In developing countries, however, the farmer organizations are still weak in one side and there are a variety of constraints in development of such organizations in other side. Similar experience occurs with farmer organizations in District of Sukoharjo. With this context, it is necessary for the agricultural service to carry out an action plan to promote farmer organizations in order to enhance self reliance of the organizations.  A conceptual framework should be formulated based on the following considerations: (a) continue the existing program of farmer organizations developed and its improvement in the future; (b) analyze the strengths and weakness of the existing farmer organizations; (c) establish the ideal conditions of the farmer organizations, especially in term of self reliance.This studi formulates an alternaiveframework for intervention which cover the followings: (a) increase  the capacity of extension agents, especially in delivering guidance and technical assistant; (b) increase the capacity of farmer organizations to formulate participatory plan; (c) enhance the role of extension agents, especially in facilitating the activities of farmer organizations.Improvement of the capacity of farmer organizations can be done through increasing motivation (AMT), master of technique of productive activities and it is important to assist the organizations for their marketing products. Motivation and stimulation services shoul be directed to self reliance process of the farmer organizations and the members.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Salah satu karakteristik anak usia sekolah dasar adalah memiliki aktivitas fisik yang tinggi, yang diperlukan untuk meningkatkan perkembangan motorik dan kognitif mereka. Asupan makanan yang cukup, khususnya pemenuhan protein dan kalsium memainkan peranan penting dalam meningkatkan aktivitas fisik anak. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara asupan protein dan kalsium dengan aktivitas fisik anak sekolah dasar. Metode: Desain penelitian menggunakan desain cross sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 84 anak sekolah dasar usia 9–12 tahun yang duduk di kelas V dan VI di Kecamatan Praya Timur, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. Data asupan protein dan kalsium diperoleh dengan wawancara menggunakan form recall 2x24 jam dan data aktivitas fisik diperoleh menggunakan kuesioner Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children (PAQ-C). Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi Square dan regresi logistik berganda dengan tingkat signifikansi 95%. Hasil: Persentase aktivitas fisik anak kategori tinggi lebih banyak dibandingkan kategori aktivitas fisik rendah (masing-masing 54% dan 46%). Asupan protein kurang secara signifikan meningkatkan risiko penurunan aktivitas fisik anak sekolah sebanyak 2,623 kali dibandingkan anak dengan asupan protein cukup (95%CI=1,003–6,862; p=0,049). Kesimpulan: Asupan protein berhubungan positif dengan aktivitas fisik anak sekolah dasar.
