Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the representations of infidelity and loyalty, and its effects of the actor of the infidelity and loyalty on the communication of an Islamic family as presented in the soap opera―Catatan Hati Seorang Istri‖. The method used in analyzing the soap opera ―Catatan Hati Seorang Istri‖ was descriptive-qualitative with the approach of semiotic theory by Roland Barthes. In semiotic approach,the message communication process experienced two layers of meaning, namely he first layer (denotation or the illustration of the infidelity and loyalty in the opera soap ―Catatan Hati Seorang Istri‖) and thesecond layer (connotation or the concept of infidelity and loyalty). The research results revealed that there were 86 pictures representing the infidelity, 10 pictures representing the loyalty, and 20 picturesrepresenting the effect of the infidelity actor, and 2 pictures representing the effect of the loyalty actor on the family communication in the islamic perspective as represented in the opera soap ―Catatan HatiSeorang Istri‖. Besides, in the opera soap ―Catatan Hati Seorang Istri‖ semiotically, the signs for lying were used to represent infidelity, while the signs of the shalehah women were used to represent loyalty. Inthe opera soap ―Catatan Hati Seorang Istri‖, infidelity and loyalty effects had significant effects on the communication of islamic families.Keyword: infidelity, loyalty, the soap opera, family communication

Abstract

This paper discusses alternative solutions provided in tourism development in Toraja, after the monetary crisis since 1998, which has adversely affected tourism in Toraja, which is marked by a decrease in the number of foreign tourist arrivals.Based on the results of research that has been done in 2016, drawn the conclusion is the root of the problem against the tourism business in Toraja is the lack of variation of tourist attraction, which during this time, tourism is always a mainstay is the tradition culture: Rambusolo and traditional house "Tongkonan". Based on the results of interviews with respondents (foreign tourists who visit Toraja), found a solution that is the need for a variant of tourism objects that support Toraja main tourist attraction. Potential variation of objects to be developed in Toraja is agro-tourism, where Toraja already owns agricultural land, for example coffee plantations, cloves, cocoa that have not been cultivated as tourist attraction.One of the solutions done for the development of agro-tourism in Toraja, especially to tourism stakeholders provides French-speaking skills in the field of agrotourism in the form of training. One of the reasons for this activity is that the majority of foreign tourists visiting Toraja are from Europe who use French as the language of communication. The results of these activities resulted in three competencies: the knowledge of French in the field of agrotourism, the French language skills in agrotourism and the attitude that has a sense of responsibility in providing services to foreign tourists through the use of FrenchKey words: agrotourism, tourist, coffee, tradition culture,  Toraja, Tongkonan

Abstract

Judul skripsi ini adalah Petualangan Tokoh Baldassare dalam Roman Le Pèriple de Baldassare KaryaAmin Maalouf dengan menggunakan Struktur Aktansial dari Greimas. Penulis menggunakan teori iniuntuk menggambarkan petualangan-petualangan yang dilakukan oleh Baldassare dari awal hingga akhir.Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Algirdas Julian Greimas yaitu struktur aktansial dan strukturfungsional. Pada struktur aktansial terdapat 6 aktan yang dibuat dalam bentuk skema, yaitu Pengirim,Penerima, Subjek, Objek, Penolong dan Penghalang. Adapun pada struktur fungsional terdapat 3 tahapyang dibuat dalam bentuk tabel, yaitu Situasi Awal, Tahap Transformasi yang dibagi 3 menjadi Tahap UjiKecakapan, Tahap Utama, Tahap Kegemilangan, serta Situasi Akhir.Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan adalah berhasilnya Baldassare mendapatkan apa yang diinginkannyadengan sebuah perjuangan dan usaha keras, dengan membuat tujuh skema struktur aktansial dan strukturfungsional. Selain itu, dapat juga disimpulkan bahwa tema yang didapatkan dari hasil penelitian ini adalahtema kegigihan.

Abstract

The title of this research is the text structure of French online media in the newsof Islamic Stateof Iraq and Syam (ISIS). The aim of this research is to analyse the structure of the French onlinemedia texts to obtain an overview of the macrostructure, the superstructure and themicrostructure of the text which could define ideology differences from each French onlineMedias.To answer several problems of this research, the methods of descriptive qualitative is applied,based on critacal discourse analysis theory of Teun A van Dijk which divide the text structureinto three levels; macrostructure, superstructure and microstructure. The conclusion of thisresearch is that each French online media construct the discourse of ISIS with different ways ofinterpretation based on their ideology which appears clearly in the difference of news text ineach level of structure text.Keywords: macrostructure, superstructure, microstructure, ideology, interpretation

Abstract

Often people buy a product just worried. Fearing that the bone loss at a young age (especially women), people consume high-calcium milk; for fear of body fat because fat accumulates, then people buy milk diet, slimming tea (tea sleaming), etc. On the basis of this phenomenon, thispaper aims to analyze the construction of the meaning of concern at the commercial products into advertising media. Concern is seen as a sign, which is represented in the verbal and nonverbal language (video), which are then transferred into the meaning of concern commercialadvertisements.This paper uses a review of semiotics as a method to analyze the meaning of a concern as thereality of the sign. The results showed that the meaning of concern made by advertisers ispersuasive way to lead consumers to use the product being promoted, so that the function ofadvertising done by the manufacturer does not emphasize on functionality or usability of theproduct but a social function (concerns). Abstract

The children rights were first recognized in the 19th century, at the time when war wasraging in Europe and many children became victims of war. Comtesse de Segurs novellAnge Gardien depicts the condition of many children in that century. Implicitly the novelinvites the reader to realize that children must get their rights to grow into a good humanbeing.This study examines the topic of how the environment contributes to the fulfillment of therights of children in the novel lAnge Gardien by Comtesse de Segur.The method used in this research is descriptive method of analysis with intrinsic approach ofcharacterization and background theory. The characterization theory is used to get thecharacter description and the relation between the characters, while the background theory isused to get the picture of the life background (environment) related to childrens rights.Extrinsically the approach of sociology of literature also complement the analysis that linksthe social structure of literary works with the actual social structure of society. So throughliterary works can be understood symptoms and social influences that occur.The results of this study concluded that the character of a well-formed children comes from agood environment as well, and vice versa.Key words: childrens rights, the 19th century, sociology of literature, social environment,character.

Abstract

This paper will discuss the study of iconity by pictures presenting the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Various iconities of the AEC pictures emerged, particularly in the virtual world (online) as a form of community support of ASEAN on the establishment of the ASEAN Economic community.Based on the semiotic study, the ASEAN Economic Community presented an iconity of bhinneka tunggal ika, which is togetherness and unity in the field of economic cooperation that comes from ASEAN countries against the background of different cultures and different languages. However, the discourse that emerges is of impending competition among the ASEAN members in the fields of trade and services. The hypothesis of the paper is that economic and cultural integration in ASEAN Economic Community has limited iconity. Key words: iconity, semiotic, culture, representation

Abstract

The monetary crisis since 1998 that hit Indonesia, has a negative impact on the tourism business, which is marked by a decrease in the number of foreign tourist visits that have an impact on tourism economic activities. On that basis, in 2018 the Indonesian government has emphasized the importance of empowering existing natural potential and becoming a regional characteristic as a potential tourism activity. One of the programs launched by the area in Toraja is the improvement and management of agrotourism (agrotourism) with the image of the Toraja region, as the Coffee Regency. Based on the results of the research, one solution was found, namely the need for a variant of a tourist attraction that supports the main tourist attractions of Toraja, Tradition Culture (graves) and Tongkonan traditional houses. The potential variation of objects to be developed in Toraja is agrotourism which so far has not been fully developed. In developing agrotourism in Toraja, it is important to improve services from aspects of specific field languages (agrotourism), one of which is French. For this reason, the solution that can be given to tourism stakeholders is to provide language skills training through understanding and using French variants in agro-tourism. The results of this workshop show that participants are able to explain vocabulary and speak (communicate orally) in French in the field of agrotourism

Abstract

The title of this research is The Representation LOreal in the Advertising of the Language of the French and the Language of the Indonesian (a Coomparative Lesson) which examines the process of the sign and the representation of meaning in the Advertising of LOreal which is the Language of the French and the Language of the Indonesian. The purpose of the research is to explain how the trial of the sign in advertising LOreal which is the Language of the French and the Language of the Indonesian and to know the representation of the meaning that is in the advertising of L Oreal which is the Language of the French and the Language of the Indonesian being based on the trial of the sign. The theory that is used in this research is the theory of semiotics by Charles Sanders Peirce who deviating from the reference to identify the process of the sign and the theory of representation to explain the meaning of the sign that is found in the advertisement that is analyzed. The data that is used comes from the website. The type of advertising that is analyzed as sampo, revitalift and hair color. The result of the analysis of this research shows that the sign in the advertisement is based on icon, india and symbol and the transmission of meaning in advertising can be passed by the representation being based on the text, Image and color in advertising. Abstract

ABSTRAKThis research aims to analyze the translation of the novel Lelaki Harimau by Eka Kurniawan into French entitled L’homme Tigre. The focus of this study is the translation of metaphors. The theory used in this research is the theory of metaphor and metaphor translation. Metaphor is a comparative language style which has four types, they are: 1) Anthropomorphic metaphor, 2) Animal metaphor, 3) Concrete to abstract metaphor and 4) Synestesis metaphor. The theory of metaphor translation is used to analyze the translation strategies. This research is qualitative in nature with the approach of translation theory. Based on the results of the study it is known that although some translations of metaphors have weakened the degree of emotional expressions and some metaphorical expressions can not be literally accepted in the target language, in general the translation Lelaki Harimau to L’homme Tigre can be judged as good.
