Abstract

Syaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani is the founder of Tariqah Qadiriyyah. His teaching is highly respected by the leaders of many Islamic traditional boarding schools in Indonesia. They have accepted his teachings from his works entitled Futµh al-Gayb, al-Fat¥ al-Rabban³, al-Gunya li °alib³ °ar³q al-¦aqq, and Kit±b Sirr al-Asr±r wa Ma©h±r al-Anw±r. Then, in 2009, there was a discovery of al-Jilanis commentary of Qur’an entitled al-Faw±ti¥ al-Il±hiyyah wa al-Maf±ti¥ al-Gaybiyyah al-Muw±«³hah li al-Kal³m al-Qur’±niyyah wa al-Hik±m al-Furq±niyyah. As one of teachers traditional Islamic boarding school, I am interested in examining the authenticity of al-Faw±ti¥ al-Il±hiyyah wa al-Maf±ti¥ al-Gaybiyyah al-Muw±«³hah li al-Kal³m al-Qur’±niyyah wa al-Hik±m al-Furq±niyyah. This research also discusses the interpretation of the Al-Qur’an in the view of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani and his methods.

Abstract

This article will address the terminology of sirrimarriages, which has been completely  misinterpreted in Indonesia. Besides attempting to clarify this terminological problem, this paper will also discuss the debate on the law of sirrimarriages through the perspectives of classical and contemporary ulamas who have become the source for consideration for activists from BahtsulMasail PWNU Yogyakarta in reacting to this issue. A discussion no less important is the proposal for a new fiqhon marriage (fiqh al-munakahah al-jadidah) recommending the registration of  marriage as an extra requirement of the validity of marriage. This paper will offer  a solution to address the legal conundrum surrounding Law No. 50 of 2009 and Article 7(3) of the Compilation of Islamic Law, which regulates a court’s right to legalize marriages (marital itsbat) prior to the enforcement of Law No. 1 of 1974, whereas many of such requests for itsbat are done for cases of unregistered polygamy after the enactment of Law No. 1 of 1974.

Abstract

In this research, the author critically analyzes a biography of Shaikh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani containing sacred myths. The analyst of sacred myth about ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani is based on the approach of applied anthropology to distinguish between the myths that have  positive and negative values for Muslim society. This research then analyzes the authenticity of Tafsir al-Jilani and the epistemology of his inter- pretation. ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani is the founder of Qadiriyah. Qadiriyah doctrines has been widely accepted by traditional Muslim groups in Muslim world, so that the study of Tafsir al-Jilani is very meaningful for the followers of Qadiriyah in particu- lar and the lovers of Quranic studies in general to increase their knowledge about the teachings of ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani.

Abstract

Tetralogi “Kritik Nalar Arab” (Naqd al-‘Aql al-‘Arabi) merupakan proyek kebangkitan dan modernisasi yang dibangun kokoh oleh Mohammed Abed al-Jabiri di atas puing-puing reruntuhan kejumudan konstruksi pemikiran Arab-Islam. Tetralogi Kritik Nalar Arab mencakup Takwîn al-‘Aql al-Arabi (1984), Binyah al-‘Aql al-Arabi (1986), Al-‘Aql al-Siyâsi al-‘Arabi (1990), dan al-‘Aql al-Akhlâqi al-‘Arabi: Dirâsah Tahlîliyyah Naqdiyyah li Nudhm al-Qiyam fi Tsaqâfah al-Arabiyyah (2001). Kritik Nalar Arab diproyeksikan sebagai batu loncatan menuju rasionalisme kritis guna mengejar ketertinggalan peradaban Arab-Islam dari kemajuan pesat Eropa Modern pasca-Renaissance. Kritik Nalar Arab diandaikan mampu mensinergikan serta mendialogkan kesenjangan dan benturan antara tradisi (turâts) dan modernitas. Kritik Nalar Arab terpahat menjadi ukiran konsepsi unik yang mendapat apresiasi terluas dibanding konsepsi-konsepsi kebangkitan lain yang muncul dalam kebudayaan Arab kontemporer. Namun, di sisi lain, Kritik Nalar Arab dihujani derasnya kritik argumentatif yang cukup massif dari  para pemikir kawakan seperti George Tharabisyi dari Syiria dan Yahya Muhammed dari Sudan. Menyadari urgensitas kontribusi wacana Kritik Nalar Arab dalam proyek kebangkitan modern, penulis mendeskripsikan pemikiran Abed al-Jabiri formulasi Nalar Arab dalam Takwin al-Aql al-Arabi.
