Abstract

This research aimed to know the effectiveness of Socrates Contextual Learning viewed by student’s critical thinking ability. This quasi-experimental research used one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 22 Bandarlampung in even semester, academic year of 2014/2015 which was distributed into eleven clasess. By purposive sampling technique, students of VII D class was chosen as the research sample. The research data were obtained by critical thinking ability test. The techniques of analysis data which were used were paired sample t-test and proportion test. Based on the data analysis result, it can be concluded that Socrates Contextual Learning was not effective viewed by student’s critical thinking ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas Pembelajaran Socrates Kontekstual ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 22 Bandarlampung. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini menggunakan desain one group pretest posttest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 22 Bandar Lampung semester genap tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 yang terdistribusi dalam sebelas kelas. Dengan teknik purposive sampling terpilih siswa kelas VII D sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji-t observasi berpasangan dan uji proporsi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, disimpulkan bahwa Pembelajaran Socrates Kontekstual tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, kemampuan berpikir kritis, srates kontekstual
