Abstract

This naturalistic qualitative research aimed to describe students’ mathematical critical thinking disposition in Socrates Contextual learning at the material of Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable. The subjects of this research were students of VII B class of SMP Negeri 19 Bandarlampung. Through purposive sampling techniques, it was chosen eleven students who was described their critical thinking disposition. The research data were obtained by observation, critical thinking disposition scale techniques, interviews and documentation. Before analyzing the data, researcher did the triangulation of data by interview. The data analysis techniques used three stages, which were reducting, displaying, and getting the conclusion of data. The results of this research was the students mathematical critical thinking dispositions only appears on some students. For most of the other students, dispositions which appeared were not critical thinking disposition.Penelitian kualitatif naturalistik ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan disposisi berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran Socrates Kontekstual pada materi Persamaan dan Pertidaksamaan Linier Satu Variabel. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B SMP Negeri 19 Bandarlampung. Melalui teknik purposive sampling terpilihlah sebelas siswa yang dideskripsikan disposisi berpikir kritisnya. Data penelitian diperoleh dari observasi, teknik skala disposisi berpikir kritis, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Sebelum menganalisis data, peneliti melakukan triangulasi data melalui wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan tiga tahapan, yaitu reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan terhadap data. Hasil penelitian ini adalah disposisi berpikir kritis matematis siswa hanya muncul pada beberapa siswa. sebagian besar siswa lainnya memunculkan disposisi yang muncul bukan merupakan disposisi berpikir kritis.Kata kunci: berpikir kritis matematis, disposisi, Socrates Kontekstual

Abstract

Dividen yang diberikan oleh  perusahaan kepada pemegang saham, antara lain seperti dividen tunai, dividen properti, dividen likuidasi, dan dividen saham. Dividen tunai merupakan dividen yang dibagikan kepada pemegang saham (investor) dalam bentuk tunai atau kas. Sedangkan dividen saham merupakan dividen yang dibagikan kepada pemegang saham (investor) dalam bentuk saham. Minat investor untuk membeli saham perusahaan yang mengumumkan dividen ini pada beberapa waktu akan meningkat karena mereka beranggapan pengumuman dividen saham merupakan salah satu sinyal bahwa perusahaan memiliki kinerja yang baik dan prospek yang cerah di masa yang akan datang. Akibatnya harga saham perusahaan ini pun meningkat. Dengan meningkatnya harga saham itu artinya pengumuman dividen saham memiliki kandungan informasi yang penting bagi investor untuk mendapatkan abnormal return. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk dapat membandingkan reaksi pasar saat pengumuman deviden beredar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah komparatif deskripif dengan menggunakan uji statistic deskriptif kuartil dan dibantu dengan SPSS 20.0.Kata kunci: Deviden Tunai, Deviden Saham, Reaksi Pasar

Abstract

This research conducted at the Directorate of National SAR Agency Facilities, and Infrastructure, Results of the Preliminary Study Shows that the Employee Performance of the Directorate of National SAR Agency Facilities and Facilities is not optimal. The lack of optimal Employee Performance at the Directorate of National SAR Agency Facilities and Infrastructure is allegedly due to Work Motivation, Compensation, and Human Resource Development which are still low. Departing from the above phenomena, the problems formulated in this study are as follows: How to work motivation, compensation, human resource development, and employee performance of the Directorate of National SAR Agency's Facilities and Facilities. How significant is the influence of Work Motivation, Compensation, and Human Resource Development on the Performance of Employees of the National SAR Agency Infrastructure and Facilities Directorate both partially and simultaneously. The research method used was descriptive analysis method, with a population of 39 people, and all of them used as respondents (survey). Data analysis techniques used are correlation analysis techniques to determine the degree of closeness of the relationship between research variables and path analysis to assess the effect of both direct and indirect independent variables on the dependent variable. In its operation, SPSS 20 and Excel software used. The results showed that there was a significant effect of work motivation, compensation and development of human resources on the performance of employees of the National SAR Agency's Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure at 80.12%.Keywords: work motivation, compensation, human resource development, employee performance.DOI:10.5281/zenodo.3203089

Correlation of Depression Symptoms and Interleukin-6 in Chronic Renal Disease with Regular Hemodialysis Patients

Abstract

Depression is psychosomatic disorder are common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD). Correlated with morbidity and mortality associated with chronic inflammation in patients, that characterized by elevated levels of plasma cytokines, especially interleukin (IL)-6. Objective: To investigate the correlation of depressive symptoms with IL-6 levels in patients with CKD who underwent regular HD. Methods: One hundred and 29 CKD patients were enrolled in this cross- sectional study. All eligible patients were screened for IL-6 level. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) II questioner were then given to determine the presence of depression. Level of IL-6 was then correlated with BDI score using Spearman test. Result: The mean BDI score was 19,32 ± 6,18 indicating the level of mild depression symptoms, and the mean IL-6 level (8,697 ± 6,947 pg/mL) was still within normal range. There was a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.417) between the level of depressive symptoms and IL- 6 levels. Conclusion: There was a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.417) between IL-6 levels and depressive symptoms in patient with HD. However, mean IL-6 levels in depressive patients are still within normal limits indicating that the cause of depression is multifactorial.

THE EFFECT OF USING POWERPOINT MODIFIED PICTURES IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT TO THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 22 KOTA BENGKULU IN 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effect of using powerpoint modified pictures as a media in teaching writing descriptive text. The population of this study was all the students of eighth-grade students of  SMPN 22 Kota Bengkulu in academic year 2016/2017 with the total number of population 66 students. The sample of this research was taken by using purposive sampling. By using that technique, 42 students were taken as the samples. The samples divided into two groups, experimental and control group. The instrument employed in this study was writing tests. The pre-test was conducted before giving treatments in order to know the scores of both groups. After giving some treatments to the experimental and control group, the post-test was held to both groups. Based on the data analysis of the post-test, it was found that t-count > t-table (4.66 > 2.021). This finding indicated that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control group scores. It means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, powerpoint modified pictures had a significant effect on students’ writing ability. The use of powerpoint modified pictures could increase students’  writing ability especially in descriptive text. Therefore, this technique can be applied by the teacher as a teaching aid in descriptive text’s writing.

THE ANALYSIS OF THE PROPORTION OF LANGUAGE SKILLS IN ENGLISH TEXTBOOK GRADE XI PUBLISHED BY KEMENDIKBUD 2014

Abstract

This study analyzed the proportion of language skills in English textbook using descriptive quantitative method. This study aimed to find out the proportion of language skills in English textbook grade XI published by Kemendikbud 2014, and to find out the suitability of language skills in English textbook grade XI published by Kemendikbud 2014 and the goal of English subject's syllabus for Senior High School. The object of this research was English textbook for grade XI (Senior High School) published by Kemendikbud 2014 (1st and 2nd semester). The instrument used was evaluation checklist to collect the data about the proportion of language skills. The result showed that the textbook focuses more on writing skills (35%), grammar (32%), speaking (25%), reading (7%), and listening had the lowest proportion of (1%). The result of the evaluation showed that this textbook represent the writing skill that integrated with other skills. This textbook has the appropriate proportion on  two  skills (writing and speaking) however, it has inappropriate proportion on other two skills (listening and reading).

FACTORS CAUSING FOREIGN LANGUAGE ANXIETY (FLA) IN SPEAKING

Abstract

This research attempted to find out the factors causing foreign language anxiety in speaking. This research was  carried out by employing descriptive quantitative design. The population of this research was the third semester students of English Education Study Program of University of Bengkulu in academic year 2017/2018. The samples of this research were taken by using total sampling tehcnique, i.e 79 students. The data were collected by questionnaire consisted of 29questions related to the anxiety. The results of this study showed that the students mostly had the anxiety. There were three factors that causing the anxiety of the students in speaking; Test Anxiety (Mildly Affected; Mean Score: 3.09), Fear of Negative Evaluation (Mildly Affected;Mean Score: 3.00), and Communication Apprehension (Mildly Affected; Mean Score: 2.90). In conclusion, there were three factors that causing the student’ anxiety in speaking, and the most dominant factors is the Test Anxiety.  In addition, from the test anxiety, it was found that mostly students were afraid of the consequences failing their speaking class

AN ANALYSIS ON ENGLISH SYLLABLE STRESS PLACEMENTS OF THE ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS

Abstract

This research concerned with the student’s knowledge on the English syllable stress placements of English Education Study Program Students. This research was a descriptive quantitative research. In this research, a test of English syllable placements was used. The words used in the test items were taken from high frequency of word which consist of 10 questions for each English syllable type. The results of this research shows that the knowledge of the English Education Study Program students on English syllable stress placements was low with 39.3 of the total mean score . Futher more, comparison of the test result among three enrollments of samples  shows that the different mean score of the second and fourth semester students was not significant (0.6 points); while the different mean scores of the second and fourth semester with sixth semester students was significant (20 points)

Abstract

This study attempted to find out (1) the most dominant personality of students at English Diploma III Study Program, (2) the most dominant grammar learning strategies applied by Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic and Phlegmatic students at English Diploma III Study Program. Descriptive quantitative design was used in the study. In this study, the researcher used two questionnaires as the instrument. The instrument in the research was questionnaire. The first questionnaire adapted from Yusup (2013) to identify the students personality. The second one, the researcher used SILL version 7.0 adapted from Bayou’s research (2015) to know the use of grammar learning strategies at English Diploma III students.The result of present study shown that the most dominant personality was phlegmatic types. Then finding also  indicate that, Sanguine students preferred to use the social strategy. Followed by the Choleric students preferred to use the memory strategy. The Melancholic students  as well as the Phlegmatic students, these two types preferred to use the metacognitive strategy as their strategy when they learnt Grammar.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out childhood good values in C.S. Lewis’s Novel The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and their implications for education. The research was carried out by employing a descriptive qualitative method of library research. The data were collected by reading and analyzing the novel thoroughly. The results of the study revealed that there were several childhood good values in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader novel such as obedience, honesty, imagination, pleasure, kinship, bravery, regret, intelligence, helpfulness, forgiveness, and friendship. Nevertheless, there were also some bad values namely annoyance, selfishness, and greediness. The good values in the novel were basically universal, so they were congruent with the 2013 Curriculum in term of spiritual and social competencies. Thus, they implied that they can be used as teaching materials and source of references to teach both competencies
