Hedyotis corymbosa, with local name rumput mutiara, is an anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and hepatoprotective traditional medicine.  The ethanol extract of H. corymbosa L. shows inhibitory activity to human YMB-1 breast cancer cell line with an IC50 of 6.51 mg/ml.  The methylene chloride fraction shows a potential cytotoxic activity with an IC50 of 2.75 mg/ml.  To obtain a lead compound, the extract was further purified by column chromatography. A pure compound is obtained which shows inhibitory activities against YMB-1, HL60 and KB human cell lines with IC50 values of 0.7; 11.0 and 104.2 mg/ml, respectively.  Based on the 1D and 2D FT-NMR data, the isolated compound is an asperuloside.

Objective of this research is to investigate the influence of dextrin and lactose in preparation of dosage form from Centella asiatica (CA) ethanol extract. Powders dosage form of CA ethanol extract was prepared by kneading method. Previously, it had been known that to create CA extract concentrate long time is needed, i.e. more than 7 days. Drying preparation of CA extract by thin layer film in oven blower at 50oC gave a shorter drying time, i.e. 6 hours but it gave sticky form at the end of process. Preparation process to produce powders dosage by using dextrin and lactose was succesfully investigated in our laboratory. It resulted that dextrin was appropriate filler for preparation of CA extract powder. Powder dosage form of CA extract could be obtained after 6 hours of drying and using 30% w/w of dextrin (based on the weigh of wet extract at density of 1,000 gr.mL-1). Difference on amount of dextrin in CA extract gave influence on water content, acidity (pH), compressibility index, haussner ratio, flow propert,y and angle of repose significantly.

Objective of this research is to investigate alpha glucosidase inhibitory activity from Syzygium species. 20 of syzygium species was extracted using 70% ethanol and evaporated to be tested for its alpha glucosidase inhibitory activity and resulted that S. cumini and S. syzygioides have a high alpha glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 value was 8.71 ppm and 7.48 ppm respectively. Further investigation on some parts of S. cumini plant showed that the highest activity was found in the cortex with IC50 value of 0.45 ppm. Fractionation of ethanolic extract of S. cumini cortex using n- hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, n-buthanol and water resulted that the highest yield was in water fraction with IC50 value of 8.15 ppm. Phytochemical screening assay showed that ethanolic extract of S. cumini cortex contained terpenoid, phenol, saponin, tannin and fl avonoid.
