Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the degradation characteristics of dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) of three different forages enriched with gliricidia leaves (GL). The forages used in this trial were mini elephant grass (MEG), kolonjono grass (KG), and feld grass (FG). Data collected were the nutrient digestibility of forage residues in the rumen, i.e. DM and OM. Samples were incubated in the rumen of fstulated goat at different interval times, i.e. 8, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The experiment was carried out according to completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of 3 treatments and 3 replications, MEG 75% + 25% GL (T1), KG 75% + 25% GL (T2), and FG 75% + 25% GL (T3). The results showed that the treatments affected (P<0.05) the values of a, b and c fraction for T1, T2, and T3. DM degradation characteristics of the T1 values were 23.2%, 25.62%, and 3%/h, respectively for a, b, and c fractions. The values for treatment T2 were 3.3%, 35.10%, and 5%/h, and the values for T3 were 11.8%, 46.62%, and 1%/h, respectively for a, b and c fractions. OM degradation characteristics of the T1 were 23.2%, 43.38%, and 1%/h, respectively for fractions a, b and c, while the degradation values for OM of T2 were 23.3%, 36.78% and 4%/h, and the values of treatment T3 were 11.8%, 31.29%, and 1%/h, respectively for a, b, and c fractions. Among the forages, the most rapidly degraded was T2, followed by T1 and T3.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik degradasi bahan kering beberapa bahan pakan di Makassar. Data bahan kering yang hilang pada masa inkubasi tersebut kemudian dimasukkan dalam persamaan Y = a +b (l – e(-ct)) (rskov dan McDonald, 1979; Ismartoyo, 2011). Data karakteristik degradasi tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan RAL untuk mengetahui perbedaan karakteristik degradasi antara pakan yang satu dengan yang lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kehilangan bahan kering semua perlakuan meningkat seiring dengan lama inkubasi sedangkan kecepatan degradasinya cenderung semakin menurun. Kecernaan bahan kering pada inkubasi 24 jam paling rendah pada kulit buah coklat (29,27%) dan jonga-jonga (34,25%), nyata lebih tinggi (P<0,01) pada biji markisa (39,45%), biji kapuk (40,10%) dan kulit buah markisa (40,9%). Nilai fraksi a terendah pada biji kapuk (6,74%), dan paling tinggi biji markisa (19,61%). Nilai fraksi b terendah pada kulit buah coklat (45,43%) dan paling tinggi biji kapuk (81,57%). Nilai fraksi c terendah pada biji markisa (0,0128%/jam) dan paling tinggi biji kapuk (0,0229%/jam). Nilai fraksi a+b terendah pada kulit buah coklat (62,23%) dan paling tinggi biji markisa (90,09%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecernaan bahan kering lebih baik pada biji kapuk, biji markisa dan kulit buah markisa dari pada kulit buah coklat dan jonga-jonga. Sedangkan nilai karakteristik degradasi yang dihasilkan dari berbagai jenis pakan cukup bervariasi.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to measure the degradation characteristics of feed (in sacco), feed intake and digestibility (in vivo), and determining the index value of 4 types of goats feed (T1 = elephant grass, grass field = T2, T3 = grass kolonjono, T4 = mango leaves). Research in sacco and in vivo requires 4 goats. Each feed (4 replicates) will be incubated for 8, 12, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours, into the rumen of goats. All types of feed are given to the goats were divided into 4 treatment feed. Each goat was given one type of feed. In vivo data were analyzed using a completely randomized experimental design, followed by Duncans test (Steel and Torrie, 1980). Observations intake and digestibility of feed, then predicted from degradation characteristics of feed (in sacco) using multiple-regression analysis. From the regression equation can be further specified index value of feed (Ørskov et al, 1988; Kibon and Ørskov, 1993; Khazal et al, 1992; Shem et al, 1995; Fertile et al, 1999). The best results of In Vivo digestibility is elephant grass, followed by mango leaves feed, kolonjono grass and field grass. Weight gaint generally do not show significant differences. These results indicate that the index values of goats feed varies between one to the other feeds.

Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to examine the rumen microbial degradation of feedstuffs for ruminant in a consecutive batch culture system (CBC). The feedstuffs were incubated with mixed rumen microbes in the CBC system according to the methods of Ismartoyo dkk (1994), Ismartoyo and Budiman (2000). The results of this experiment indicated that there was variation in the dry matter (DM) loss between feed samples ranging from 31% for markisa seed to 48.2% for jonga-jonga. Similarly the patterns and the slopes of DM losses during 6 serial of incubation varied between the feed samples. The slopes of the DM losses for cacao pods, jonga-jonga, and markisa seed were –0.62, -0.08, dan –2.34, respectively, indicating that rumen microbes failed to adapt to the presences of these three substrates. Whereas the slopes of kapuk seed and markisa pods were 0.20 and 2.23 suggesting that the rumen microbes appeared to adapt to the presence of these two substrates.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted in vivo to investigate the effects of feeding WCS as a supplement for sheep fed GH on the apparent feed digestibility, and the rumen fermentation. Four different diets (T1-T4) were used, GH alone, or GH plus 150, 300 or 500 g WCS d-1 (fresh basis). The main objectives of the in vivo experiment was to examine digestibility and rumen characteristics (pH, ammonia and VFA concentration) of sheep fed the four diets. The results of this experiment indicated that supplementation of GH with WCS at level of 500 g d-1 (0.37 of the diet) reduced DM, ADF and NDF digestibility. There was no statistically significant effect on total rumen VFA, but the molar proportions of acetate, propionate and butyrate were altered by the highest rate of inclusion of WCS. These results suggested that WCS might have reduced the numbers or activities of cellulolytic rumen microorganisms.

Abstract

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur karakteristik degradasi pakan (in sacco), konsumsi dan kecernaan pakan (in vivo), serta menentukan nilai indek 4 jenis pakan kambing (T1=rumput gajah, T2=rumput lapang, T3=rumput kolonjono, T4=daun mangga). Penelitian in sacco dan in vivo memerlukan 4 ekor ternak kambing. Masing-masing pakan (4 ulangan) akan diinkubasikan selama 8, 12, 24, 48, 72, dan 96 jam, kedalam rumen ternak kambing. Ke-4 jenis pakan tersebut selanjutnya diberikan kepada ternak kambing yang dibagi dalam 4 perlakuan pakan. Setiap ternak kambing diberikan satu jenis pakan. Data hasil pengamatan in vivo akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan rancangan percobaan acak lengkap, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan (Steel and Torrie,1980). Hasil pengamatan konsumsi dan kecernaan pakan, kemudian diprediksi dari karakteristik degradasi pakan (in sacco) menggunakan analisis multiple-regresi. Dari persamaan regresi tersebut selanjutnya dapat ditentukan nilai indek pakan (Ørskov et al, 1988; Kibon dan Ørskov, 1993; Khazal et al, 1992; Shem et al, 1995; Subur et al, 1999). Hasil percobaan kecernaan in vivo rumput gajah merupakan pakan terbaik, kemudian disusul pakan daun mangga, menyusul rumput kolonjono, dan rumput lapang. Pertambahan berat badan kambing umumnya tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai indek pakan kambing bervariasi antara pakan 1 dengan lainnya. Kata Kunci : Konsumsi, Karakteristik Degradasi, Nilai Indek Pakan.

Abstract

Pola dan trend degradasi pakan oleh mikroba rumen bervariasi antara bahan pakan satu dengan bahan pakan lainnya. Slope (koefisien regresi) bahan kering tercerna kulit buah coklat, jonga-jonga, dan biji markisa masing-masing adalah –0.62, -0.08, dan –2.34. Sedangkan slope bahan kering tercerna untuk biji kapuk dan kulit markisa adalah 0.20 dan 2.23 menunjukkan bahwa mikroba rumen dapat beradaptasi dengan adanya substrat biji kapuk dan kulit markisa dalam medium. Sebaliknya kulit buah coklat, jonga-jonga, dan biji markisa disamping slope-nya negatif, kecernaan bahan kering-nya juga cenderung menurun selama 6 seri masa inkubasi. Kesimpulannya bahwa kecernaan bahan kering in vitro pakan oleh mikroba rumen bervariasi mulai dari 31% untuk biji markisa sampai dengan 48.2% untuk jonga-jonga. Mikroba rumen menunjukkan pola adaptasi selama 6 seri inkubasi terhadap substrat biji kapuk dan kulit markisa yang mengandung lemak, tannin dan gossypol untuk biji kapuk dan tannin untuk kulit markisa.
