Abstract

Snack fruit var. gading is a perishable horticultural product and non climacteric fruit  that has room temperature shelf life about 6-7 days.  This fruit should be ripe before harvesting and during storage does not undergo further ripening process. It has high respiratory rate that caused fast senescence.   This research was aimed to determine harvesting time to obtain good quality and long shelf life of snake fruit. Also, it was objected to elucidate the effect of wax coating on quality changes during storage. The harvesting time of snake fruit was 5, 6, and 7 month after pollination. Wax coating (10%) was used to protect the fruits during storage. Glucose, fructose, sucrose, and tannin was determined after harvesting. The quality of snack fruits was assesed by panelists independently.  The results showed that the best harvesting time of snack fruit was 6 months after pollination. Wax coating influenced the fruit quality and also could inhibit declining of sugar and tannin content of fruit. Wax coating could improve the quality of fruits during storage up to  2 weeks.Keywords: harvesting time, wax coating, snack fruit var. gading

Abstract

Mr. Wandi and Mr. Amari is a fermented cassava businesses in the rural Ketangi, Karangploso subdistrict, Malang regency are currently experiencing difficulties in maintaining and developing a business. This happens because of limited capital and limited marketing reach. Technology production is still modest, less sterile and production equipment are just packed in a plastic bag or use a bowl.Appropriate technology improvement efforts of both businesses fermented cassava in the rural Ketangi be hygienic equipment that can guarantee the sterility of the product, use a wheelbarrow / tricycles can expand the reach of the marketing and use of packaging plastic boxes can improve the quality and value of selling the fermented cassava. Applied technology is a technology that is simple and easy to operate.The application of appropriate technology improvements can increase revenues both businesses fermented cassava approximately 35% to 50%, as well as the pilot for the surrounding community.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the influence of inorganic and organic manure combination rate on peanut crop yield and growth. The experiment applied randomized block design which was arranged as factorial. The first factor was rate of farmyard manure and the second factor was rate NPK fertilizer. Data were collected through measurements of plant high, number of branch, number of leaves, plant biomass weight, heavy and wet heavy run dry polong, number of polong and heavy 100 dry seed. The results showed that there are real interaction between treatment of organic manure and inorganic manure to component of vegetative and generative except plant biomass weight. combination farmyard manure 1 kg /plot and NPK fertilize 20 g /plot (A1N1) represent optimum dose at peanut crop conducting posed at by variable is number of polong equal to 21.07 polong, weight of polong equal to 63.16 g, dry weight of polong equal to 37.74 g and 100 dry seed equal to 47.79 g/ plant

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the appropriate harvest age of Salak Gading fruit to get the best quality and the longest storage period as well as to find out the effect of wax coating to ward the storage period and the quality of Salak Gading fruit at room temperature. The fruit was obtained from salak plantation at Turi Yogyakarta area. The research was divided into two stages. The first stage was the determination of ripe physiology in which the fruit was harvested at 6, 7 and 8 months after pollination. Afterwards the physical and chemical natures of the fruit were observed. The second one was wax coating in which the coated Salak Gading fruit was harvested at 7 and 8 days after pollination. The wax concentration used was 10% then the observation on physical and chemical nature were undergone once in three days. The determination of the storage period was accomplished when Salak Gading fruit has reached the level of decaying by 25% during the storage period. The results indicated that the best quality was at the period of 7 months. The wax coating influencing the quality of Salak Gading fruit also could keep loss down resulted from bacteria and inhibited the reduction of sugar and tannin inside the fruit. The determination of the harvest age of Salak Gading fruit and the wax coating could reform the quality of Salak Gading fruit

Abstract

Efforts to increase rice production, such as setting planting legowo row model. Objective: to study the model settings legowo row planting in rice. The experiment was conducted in paddy fields in the Village District Pulongdowo Tumpang Malang. The research location is situated at an altitude +597 m asl, alluvial soils with a temperature between 22o-30oC and average rainfall is 2113 mm.year-1. The experiment was conducted in April-July 2009. Experiments using a Randomized Complete Block Design Factorial with repeated 5 times. Treatment plant model consists of 5 types, namely 1 = square, 2 = rectangle, 3 = legowo row 2:0, 4 = legowo row 4:0, and 5 = legowo row 8:0. The data obtained were tested LSD 1%. Results showed the treatment of square, rectangle and parallelogram legowo 2:0 high yield crops and productive tillers were not significantly different. Likewise, treatment of legowo row 4:0 and 8:0 high crop yield and productive tillers were not significantly different. Treatment of square, rectangle and parallelogram legowo 2:0 flowering earlier than treatment legowo row 4:0 and 8:0. Treatment of legowo row 4:0 and 8:0 produce dry grain harvests each 9:17 ton.ha-1 and 9:04 ton.ha-1 the highest and different compared to other treatments. Treatment of squares and rectangles to produce dried grain harvest 8:02 ton.ha-1 and 7.95 ton.ha-1 respectively but lower and different from other treatments

Abstract

The quality of palm oil is determined by the quality of land and seeds from the seedling. The Selection of seedling media is an important factor to support the development of the seedlings until the seedlings can be planted into the field. The study aims to determine the effect of several types of seedling media and nitrogen fertilization on the growth of palm oil seedlings. The study was conducted at field experiment of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University with height of 523 m above sea level, for 4 months. The research used Randomized Block Design with three replication (RAK) of factorial with factor 1: seedling medium (M) consisted of: M1 = soil:sand (1:1), M2 = soil:manure (1:1) and M3 = soil:sand: manure (1:1:1). Factor 2 was the nitrogen fertilizer dosage comprising 4 levels of the nitrogen fertilizer: 0 g (U0), 5 g (U1), 10 g (U2) and 15 g (U3), so there were 12 combinations of each treatment was repeated 3 times. Observations were made at high parameters of seed, seed stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, and total dry weight of seed. The results obtained that the using of media types interact with nitrogen fertilization in supporting the growth of seedlings (stem diameter). The best oil palm seed obtained in the medium of sand: soil:manure (M3) with 15 g of urea fertilizer per seed was able to produce the largest stem diameter (0.37 cm) up to age 2 months. Separately, 15 g urea nitrogen fertilization produces the best seeds (number of leaf, leaf large, and top dry weight), while the best seedling media was the mixed media of soil:sand:manure

Abstract

Organic manure of pregnant Supernasa of macro, micro nutriens and hormone grow able to be utilized by tomato crop to race growth process and result. Research aimed to study and knowing organic manure dose of Supernasa at various giving frequency on the growth and result crop tomato. The experiment used split plot design with 3 replications. Giving frequency (1, 2, 3 times) as main plots and dose fertilize Supernasa (1, 2, 3 g/l water) as sub plots. Variables observed to highly plants, leaves number, internode number, fruit number/plant and total fruit weight/plant. Result of research indicate that do not there are real interaction between treatment of dose fertilize Supernasa and giving frequincy to all variable observed. But analyse separately from each treatment indicate that treatment of dose fertilize Supernasa 1 g/l water can yield optimum result and growth so also at 1 times giving frequency, this matter is anticipated by manure of Supernasa represent dissolve solid organic manure old ones and availibility of required by nutrien is plant during which old relative

Abstract

A field experiment that was conducted at Ketanggi Village, Karangploso District of Malang Regency in May-September 2007, was aimed to study the effects of farmyard manure and NPK fertilizers on growth and yield of groundnut. Data were collected through measurements of plant height, number of branch, number of leaves, plant biomass weight, wet and dry weight of ‘polong’ number of ‘polong’, and weight of 100 dry seeds. Results of the study showed that there was no significant interaction between farmyard manure and NPK fertilizer treatments at all measured variables. Results of separate statistical analyses, however, showed that application of farmyard manure and NPK fertilizer with a rate of 20g/plot could improve growth ands yield of groundnut
