Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan sehubungan dengan telah ditemukannya empat kandidat jambu unggul pada tahun pertama yaitu Jatiwinangun, Semarang Prada, Kaget Putih, dan Asahan. Riset ini sesuai dengan riset payung Fakultas Biologi Unsoed yaitu sebagai sentra pengembangan biologi spesies indigenous yang mampu memecahkan permasalahan masyarakat pedesaan secara berkelanjutan. Road map penelitian ini meliputi visi dan misi, permasalahan pada jambu semarang [Syzygium samarangense (Bl.) Merr. & L.M. Perry] dan jambu air [S. aqueum (Burm f.) Alston] masih kacau. Hal ini disebabkan kajian taksonomi untuk tingkat kultivar ini belum ada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menegaskan taksa mana yang memang bersifat unggul tetapi belum diketahui masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksplorasi untuk menemukan lebih banyak kultivar unggul. Karakterisasi morfologis maupun molekuler digunakan untuk menentukan mana jambu semarang dan mana yang jambu air, dan mana buah yang berpotensi sebagai buah unggul. Kultivar jambu yang telah memiliki nama dan diperdagangkan unmumnya stabil, sementara jambu langka umumnya belum diketahui stabilitasnya. Dengan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dikembangkan strategi konservasi dan pengembangan jambu unggul untuk meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat pedesaan.

Abstract

Microalgae Spirulina platensis is good as natural food for fish. It consists of the highest protein, that is 70% of the dry weight.  On the other hand, it can be used as alternative of healthy food and herbal medicine.  To grow well, microalgae need enough nutrition. Another alternative use of the algae is for organic fertilizer. The fertilizer product can increase the income of the fishers, since it can change the useless into usefull things.  In the first year, we produced fertilizer in the laboratory and natural food such as microalgae powder. In this research we used an experimental method with Splitplot Design and 3 replications for each treatment of combination of aquatic weeds by giving different concentration. The research result indicates that population growth of microalgae cells is sigmoid with a peak population at the sixth day after inoculation and Salvinia natans with extract concentration of 900 ppm showed the best production for biomass cell of  Spirulina platensis.

Abstract

Ethnobotany is important in Indonesia because there are a lot of unknown things about the traditional plant usages by traditional people. One of them is the Kampung Pulo’s traditional people in Garut District of West Java’s province. This research aims to determine the diversity, usage and part of plants used by Kampung Pulo’s traditional people. The methods used are survey and data collection has been exploration, by interview and direct observation. The data were by analyzed by using descriptive analysis  plant diversity, usage for, part used and how they were used by Kampung Pulo’s traditional people. The result of the research showed that there were 93 plants species included into 42 families which is used to Kampung Pulo’s traditional people. The most species used includes Areca catechu L., Arenga pinnata (Wurmb) Merr., Cocos nucifera L., Carica papaya L., Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr., Gigantochloa verticillata (Willd) Munro, Oryza sativa L., Curcuma domestica L., Kaempferia galanga L. and Zingiber Officinale Roscc.. Kampung Pulo’s traditional people use the plants in a wide variety way such as for foods, shelter, tools, drugs, cosmetics, rituals, dye and traditional ceremonies. Plant parts that often use continously are fruits, leaves, stems, flowers, tubers, saffrons and roots.

Abstract

A study entitled "A Case Study of Plant Utilization as Traditional Medicines by Indigenous Community of Kampung Naga" has been conducted from April-July 2010. The aims of the research to determine the type, how to used and to conserve plants used for medicine by the indegenous community in Kampung Naga. The research method was survey and the data collection was done with census method, interview and questionnaire for the tribe (kuncen), midwife (paraji), community leaders and residents of Kampung Naga.  The results of the research showed that there 108 plants species including to 50 families used as medicinal plants. The organ and nutritious plants used as medicine are the roots, rhizomes, tubers, stems, seeds, flowers, fruits, and leaves, or the whole plant parts. The way to use the medicinal plants includes boiing, just posted, and immediately eaten after steaming. The plants used as medicine were obtained from the gardens, forests, yards, roadside, moor and fields. The conservation efforts undertaken by the community of Kampung Naga consist of plant planting and cultural conservation.

Abstract

Baturraden Botanical Garden is a complex ecosystem. Its natural resources, including several species of fern, provide an opportunity to be managed sustainably so it can be used to fulfill a long term of public need. This research was aimed to know the diversity of fern species and its potential as ornamental plants. The research was using survey method. The data was analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis. Species identification was performed by comparing the samples with herbarium specimens and also using identification keys. During the observation, 26 species of fern were found, which is consisted of 14 terrestrial species and 12 epiphyte species. Nephrolepis bisserata (Sw.) Schott. was terrestrial species with highest individual number and widest dispersion, whereas terrestrial species with smallest individual number and the narrowest distribution was Blechnum orientale Linn. Epiphytic fern species with highest individual number and widest dispersion was Nephrolepis falcata (Cap.) C. Chr., whereas epiphytic species with smallest individual number and narrowest distribution was Davallia triphylla Hk. From 26 fern species which were found at Baturraden Botanical Garden, 22 fern species were potential as ornamental plant which can be grew up either on land, pot or on host plant.

Abstract

A research on the diversity and use of tuber as alternative food crops in Bantarkawung, Brebes has been conducted. This research was aimed to find out the kinds of tuber used as alternative food crops.  The method used was survey with a purposive random sampling applied to eighteen villages, The data were obtained by interviewing using questionnaire for each owner. They were analyzed descriptively for tuber type.  The result of this study showed that there are nine species of tuber plant used as alternative food crops: Manihot esculenta, Ipomoea batatas., Dioscorea alata, D. hispida, D. esculenta, Canna edulis, Colocasia esculenta, Amorphophallus campanulatus, Maranta arundinacea, and 7 cultivars from 3 species of plant that were Manihot esculenta.’ Darmo’, M. esculenta ‘Mentega’,  M. Esculenta ‘Valenca’, Ipomoea batatas. ‘Selat’, I. batatas ‘Sriwil’, Colocasia esculenta ‘Udang’ and C. esculenta ‘Pari’.  M. esculenta were more often found while D.  hispida was the less frequently used.   People in Bantarkawung used tuber as the alternative food crops for self consumption by boiling, frying, roasting and making them as meal.  The meal was processed into various processed foods, part of them were sold.

Abstract

A research entitled “The structure, Composition and Potency of Ground Vegetation as Medical Plants in Heterogenous Forest at Cikakak Village Wangon Subdistrict banyumas Regency” aims to find out the structure and composition of ground vegetation species and ground vegetation that have a potency of medicalplants. Material and tools usud in this reseach were ground vegetation  is sublimat, GPS, altimeter, thermohygrometer,  soiltester, luxmeter, plastic bags, rollmeter, sasak. The research were used survei methode and square plots quadrate methode used a sampling method. The result of the observation showed that ground vegetation composition of heterogenous forets at Cikakak village Wangon subdistrict Banyumas regency was builled from 72 species belonging to 33 families  and  order from the most to the least abundance habitus were follow herb 49 species ,shrub 11 species, seedling 8 species, and liana 3 species. The result of the reseach ground vegetation potency as big enough medical plants ist 65,27 %.

Abstract

A study to know the kinds of plant simplicia sold in Purwokerto and their usage as traditional medicine. A survey and sampling of simplicia plant has been conducted in Purwokerto.  An interview has also been done carried out for different respondants. The data recorded included simplicia type their local names, their pictures and classification, simplicia parts and their uses.  The result of this research showed that there are 50 types of simplicia included in 26 families used as traditional medicines in Purwokerto. The simplicia is used by boiling in a container made of clay soil, fried, poured by oil water, or cooked. Parts that are used as simplicia comprised are rhizome, leave, stem, bark, thallus, fruit, fruit peel, flower, herbals (root, stem and leaves) and seeds.  The uses of simplicia included carminative (remove stomach gas), anti inflammation, analgesic (pain healing), anti pyretic (heat lowering) cholagogum (making fluency of bile into duodenum), stomachic (increase appetite), anti spasmodic, choleritic (increase bile juice production), antelminthic (eradicate worm), sliming and tonic (body freshener).

Abstract

The fishs reproduction status is affected by both fed compositions and vitamins intake lead to determine improvement of eggs quality as well as fish production. The presence of Ascorbic Acid (AA) in the cultivation ponds, might accelerate females gonad maturation and so rematuration. The research aimed to determine: (1) Level gonad maturity of supplementation Ascorbic Acid; (2) Oocyts diameter; (3) Larvae survival rate. The research used experimental methods.The method was a completely randomized design (CRD) of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatments were supplementation of AA at different dosages of 0, 600, 1200 and 1800 mg/kg fish-fed ration.The gonad maturity level was analysed descriptively and oocyte diameter and larvae survival rate data were analysed by ANOVA. The result showed that supplementation of AA at a dosage of 1200 mg / kg fish-fed ration accelerated the process of gonad maturity, development of oocyt diameter and larvae survival rate as well as the viability of O. vittatus larvae at 90 rearing days. In this case, level IV gonad maturity was reached at 90 days which characterized by completed vitelogenesis process and oocyte diameter of 1.1 mm. Thus, this study is useful for aquaculture science by providing information on utilization of AA as food supplement in fish culture and also for fish farmer who wish to accelerate O. vittatus reproduction.

Abstract

Microalga Navicula sp., Spirulina platensis, and Chlorella vulgaris have the prospect of being a source of biofuel producers. Rapid cell growth, coupled with the ability to produce large lipids and less pollution, can be used as an alternative to biofuel development. Microalgae cultivation can utilize tapioca liquid waste. Addition of NaCl to regulate salinity, so optimum for microalgae growth. In addition it can reduce toxins by binding to dissolved cyanide acid present in the waste. This study aims to determine the effect of NaCl concentration on tapioca liquid waste on growth and lipid microalgae content. This study used an experimental method with a complete random factorial design. The first factor tested three species of microalgae. The second factor tested seven NaCl concentrations on tapioca liquid waste media. The results showed that the concentration of NaCl 35% in tapioca liquid waste culture media capable of producing biomass of C. vulgaris cells with the highest lipid content. The NaCl concentration capable of producing the highest microalgae biomass from the study can be developed to design more effective and efficient tapioca industrial waste treatment without damaging the environment but more productive, as a biofuel producer.
