Abstract

The title of research is : the effect of heat threatment  on characteristics of non ferous metal (bronze), in polytehnic state of andalas university by Sahat S.T.  in designing/constructing field, we must be able to construct significant characteristics of metal. It is due to demand of contruction it self, as well as the restriction of materials which are available in the market where the contruction takes places. The research aims not only to increase writer’s competence in research, but also to prove theoritical truth which can be founf in several references. Beside that, it can be utilized to improve institutional progress where the research is being conducted. The research  is conducted throught a certain method namely qualitative method. There are five sampling threatment that are conducted. The result of heat threatment will be testified/analyced with tortion and harness testing process. The final finding of this research proves the truth of theoritical statement. It is suggested that the further research should be conducted by using time variables /variant in heat threatment process.

Abstract

Pembukaan bearing pada bak persneling  (bak transmisi) mobil sangat sulit dilakukan. Posisi bearing yang terbenam pada bodi bak dan yang berada diluar hanya bagian alur saja dengan bibir alur setebal 2,5 mm, sehingga sulit dijangkau oleh alat pembuka yang ada. Proses  pembukaan ini akan lebih sulit lagi apabila bearing sudah lama dipakai sehingga menempel dengan kuat sekali pada bodi maupun poros. Dengan alat yang sudah ada saat ini pembukaan dilakukan dengan system piring belah yang menjepit bearing pada dua sisi dan kemudian ditarik dengan dua buah baut penarik. Hal ini sering menyebakan penarikan tidak seimbang sehingga menyebabkan posisi bearing menjadi miring dan semakin sulit dikeluarkan dan bahkan dapat menyebabkan bearing menjadi pecah. Selain itu juga menyebabkan bodi bak transmisi menjadi rusak atau cacat karena baut penarik bertumpu pada bodi. Untuk pemecahan masalah tersebut maka dibuat alat penarik dengan system pipa belah yang dapat mengait pada seluruh keliling alur bearing dan batang penariknya bertumpu pada poros, sehingga penarikan dapat dilakukan pada titik pusat lingkaran bearing. Dengan demikian penarikan dapat dilakukan dengan sangat seimbang, sehingga bearing dapat keluar dengan mudah dalam waktu yang singkat dan tidak menyebabkan bearing maupun bodi bak menjadi rusak.

Abstract

Power steering adalah mekanisme pembantu untuk memperingan beban kemudi yang dibutuhkan pada saat mobil pada kecepatan rendah, saat parkir atau maneuver tertentu dan akan beralih ke kemudi manual pada kecepatan tinggi. Gaya untuk mengurangi beban kemudi diperoleh dengan tekanan fluida dengan system hidraulik yang dibangkitkan oleh pompa yang digerakkan langsung dengan putaran mesin. Pada saat putaran mesin tinggi tekanan fluida yang dibangkitkan pompa akan menjadi naik, beban kemudi akan menjadi sangat ringan. Ini tidak dikehendaki dan akan diatur oleh relief valve. Kerugian gesekan aliran fluida pada system hidraulik akan mengurangi tekanan, sehingga gaya yang dibangkitkan pada mekanisme beban kemudi akan menjadi berkurang.

Abstract

Composite Materials Made From Aluminum Powder As Matrix And Fly Ash As Reinforcement Are  Known  As  Al-Mmcs.  They  Can  Be  Produced  With  Powder  Metallurgy  Technique.  This Research Is Aim To Study Physical And Mechanical Properties Of Aluminum/Fly Ash Composite With   Various   Weight   Fractions   And   Sintering   Temperatures.The   Aluminum   Powder   Was Obtained From Merck Germany That Has   Irregular Shape And Fine Particle Size. The Fly Ash Was Collected From PLTU Suralaya And It Has Spherical Shape With Particle Size Of <53mM. Fly Ash Powder Was Calcined In Temperature Of 800oc For 3 Hours To Eliminate Compounds That   Are   Evaporable   In   Sintering   Process.   Various   Weight   Fractions   Of   Fly   Ash   As Reinforcement Are 7.5%, 5%, 2.5% And 0%. Each Composition Of Aluminum Powder And Fly Ash  Was  Mixed  For  5  Hours,  And  Then  They  Were  Uniaxially  Pre-Compacted  To  Produce Greenbody  Of  Cylinder  Specimens  And  Rectangular  Cross-Section  Bar  Specimens  Using  APressure  Of  100  Mpa.  The  Green  Compacts  Were  Further  Compacted  With  Cold  IsostaticPressing Using Media             Of Lubricating Oil With A Pressure Of 100 Mpa. Then The Specimens Were Pressureless Sintered With Various Temperatures Of 500oc, 525oc, 550oc, And 575oc In  Argon  Environment  For  1  Hour.  The  Sintered  Specimens  Were  Tested  Include  Bending Strenght (sMOR), Vickers Hardness (Hv), Wear Resistance (Wa) And Density (r). The Results Of The Research Indicate That The Optimum Mechanical Properties Are Obtained In Specimens Containing 5% Weight Fly Ash Sintered At Temperature Of 550oc. The Optimum Properties Of Bending  Strength,  Vickers  Hardness,  Wear  Resistance  And  Density  Are 73.03  Mpa,  40.5Kg/Mm2, 0.0021 Mm3/Nm And 2.504 Gram/Cm3 Respectively.

Abstract

Composite materials made from aluminum powder as matrix and fly ash as reinforcement are known as Al-MMCs. They can be produced with powder metallurgy technique. This research is aim to study physical and mechanical properties of aluminum/fly ash composite because of the pressureless sintering effect. The aluminum powder was obtained from Merck Germany that has irregular shape and fine particle size. The fly ash was collected from PLTU Suralaya and it has spherical shape with particle size of <53μm. Fly ash powder was calcined in temperature of 800oC for 3 hours to eliminate compounds that are evaporable in sintering process. Various weight fractions of fly ash as reinforcement are 7.5%, 5%, 2.5% and 0%. Each composition of aluminum powder and fly ash was mixed for 5 hours, then they were uniaxially pre-compacted to produce greenbody of cylinder specimens and rectangular cross-section bar specimens using a pressure of 100 MPa. The green compacts were further compacted with cold isostatic pressing using media of lubricating oil with a pressure of 100 MPa. Then the specimens were pressureless sintered with various temperatures of 500oC, 525oC, 550oC, and 575oC in argon environment for 1 hour. The sintered specimens were tested include bending strenght (σMOR), Vickers hardness (Hv), wear resistance (Wa) and density ( ρ). The results of the research indicate that the optimum mechanical properties are obtained in specimens containing 5% weight fly ash sintered at temperature of 550oC. The optimum properties of bending strength, Vickers hardness, wear resistance and density are 73.03 MPa, 40.5 kg/mm2, 0.0021 mm3/Nm and 2.504 gram/cm3 respectively.

Abstract

The research about Mn element which is added into alloy A7075 (0,5%Wt; 1,0%Wt; 1,5%Wt and 2,0%Wt) already done. The tests are conducted including hardness test, tensile test and micro structural test. It can be indicated that the change hardness, tensile and micro structural effect Mn. The optimum Mn content are 1,0%Wt by hardness number 196,43 kg/mm2, but by effect Mn can be decrease of tensile number aluminium alloy A7075.

Abstract

AbstractGFRP composite is one of the alternative materials that the most common as a replacement for metal. This material has a light weight, easy to shape, good strength, and the production cost is relatively cheaper. This study aims to investigate the effects of fiber diameter variation of mechanical behavior, particularly on the load of high strain rate impact. The application of impulse momentum theory in the elastic region is the basic science for this case. The AGC apparatus is equipment that used for this test because it could generate the high strain wave rate in the single direction loading. Specimen is placed in the position of tight end against the end of the input bar. The results showed that the increase in fiber diameter variations affect the value of E that is produced. Thus, it is become a recommendation for the use of this material in certain circumstances.Keywords: GFRP Composite, Elasticity Modulus, High Strain Rate Impact

Abstract

Wind energy is one type of energy that is expected to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, which are increasingly reduced in number, in the utilization of wind turbine technology is required conformity with the characteristics of wind turbine where it is used. For it has been tested against U-type Savonius turbine with two blades and three rotor blades, to determine the effect of rotor blade against rotation and torque and power that is able to produce. Test results showed that: At no load condition, the rotor blades savonius two starts spinning at a lower wind speed (0.5 m / s) and has a rotational speed higher than the three rotor blades at the same wind speed. Three blade Savonius rotor was started generating torque and power at lower wind speeds (1.8 m / s) than the two rotor blades and produces more power at the same wind speed. Power that can be raised Savonius rotor diameter of 40 cm and a height of 60 cm on average wind speed - average Indonesia (<4.5 m / s) was very small and unable to produce the expected energy. To take advantage of wind energy as wind power plant with a Savonius rotor type N, it is suggested that using a rotor with larger dimensions and the number of blades is more, according to the diameter of blade.

Abstract

This paper presents FPGA realizations of Walsh transforms. The realizations are targetted for the system of arbitrary waveform generation, addition/ subtraction, multiplication, and processing of several signals based on Walsh transforms which is defined in term products of Rademacher functions. Input signals are passing through the system in serial, the output either signals or coefficients are also passing out in serial. To minimize the area utilization when the systems are realized in FPGA chips, the word lengths of every processing step have been designed carefully. Based on this, FPGA realizations of those various applications into Xilinx and Altera chips have been done. In Xilinx realizations, Xilinx ISE was used to display the results and to extract some critical parameters such as speed and static power. Meanwhile, the realizations into Altera chips have been conducted using Quartus. Comparisons of speed and power among Xilinx and Altera chip realizations are presented here even though this is not an apple to apple comparison. Finally, it can be concluded that Walsh transforms can be realized not only for the applications that have been done here, but it is potential can be used for other applications.
