Abstract

The article was describe some aspect of bioecological Parkia timoriana DC Merr in Meru Betiri National Park i.e. ecological characteristis, population dan regenration status, seed production, seed dispersal dan seed distributor, spatial distribution of parkia, and relation of parkia abundance and community interaction and distance of village to the forest (parkia habitat). In Meru Betiri National Park, tke parkia was found at 0 -500 m upper sea, topographyi 0-125 % (general 40 %), land pH 5 – 7. Total population of parkia in natural forest only 200 individu and naturally regeration process was very low. As a intolerant species, parkia was needed most sun radiation to sprout the seed and growth of parkia. The pattern of spatial distribution and abundance of parkia were relating to the interaction intensity of people to parkia and the distance of communities village to the parkia habitat in natural forest. In this case, the parkia abundance were found in natural forest where people who has highest interaction with parkia and nearest distance of communities village to the natural forest as parkia habitat. Peoples as parkia harvester was actor in parkia distribution and parkia seed dispersal in Meru Betiri National Park.Keywords : bioecological, kedawung, regeneration, conservation, community.

Abstract

Indonesia is a mega biodiversity country including many kind medicinal plants. It is not easy to identify the various kinds of the medicinal plants especially for common people. Therefore, we need a computer-based automatic system as a tool to identify these various types of the medicinal plants. Developing of computer-based automatic system for medicinal plant identification has been done based on leaf image. There are 30 species of medicinal plants used in this study. There are 3 features for identification, i.e. morphology, texture, and shape. To improve the accuracy of identification we applied probabilistic neural network to classify the species of medicinal plant. The experiment results showed that the accuracy of identification increase to 74.67%. Developing of search engine has been done as well. We used 32 species of medicinal plant. The number of document was 132 documents. The document consists of name, family, description, diseases, and chemical substances. To improve the accuracy of searching, we applied KNN Fuzzy to classify document into 2 categories, i.e., family and diseases. The experiment results showed that the accuracy of average of precision is 96% for only word of length query and 89% for two words of length query. The system is very beneficial for people in society because it can be used to identify medicinal plants easily and the relevant communitis become independent in maintaining family health and giving opportunities as well as income of the people. Hence, the system is promising for leaf identification and supporting plant biodiversity in Indonesia. Abstract

Conservation revitalization for health endurance can be achieved by establishing a conservation village such as Kampung Konservasi TOGA Gunung Leutik. The purposes of this research are to identify the benefit of Kampung Konservasi TOGA Gunung Leutik in the form medicinal plants utilization, and the impacts of its existence to local people’s health and economy. Methods used in this research was open-ended interview, and observation. The result shows that there are 152 medicinal plant species from 57 families that are utilized by the local people and most of them are from Zingiberaceae families. There are 40 recipe can be used for treat various desease. Benefits of these medicinal plants are for spices and daily disease treatment. The existence of Kampung Konservasi Gunung Leutik gives positive impacts for local people health and economy. Keyword: medicinal plant, TOGA conservation kampoong, utilization

Abstract

Bojonglarang Jayanti Nature Reserve one of habitat Rafflesia patma. The purpose of this research  to identify biotic and abiotic habitat characteristic of R. patma in Bojonglarang Jayanti Nature Reserve. Research conducted in March until April, using single plot analysis habitat to take physical and biotic data as well as the study of literature for climate data retrieval. R. patma habitat have lowland and coastal forest vegetation types  with dominant species Cyathocalys biovulatus. Fauna that be a benefit to the life of Rafflesia are 19 species from 15 Family. There are 90 individual R.patma found at altitude 0-100 m above sea level, slope average 14.73%, the distance from the coast beach 758 m, a distance from the water 12 m, litter thickness 1.7 cm, and the type of soil is Podsolic with low nutrient content and acidic pH. Abstract

Studi ini dilakukan pada bulan Juni–Juli 2012 untuk mengetahui sebaran terbaru Rafflesia zollingeriana dan struktur populasinya di Taman Nasional Meru Betiri. R. zollingeriana yang ditemukan sebanyak 19 populasi yang terdiri atas 26 koloni dan 152 individu. Populasi R. zollingeriana dominan ditemukan di lereng bukit, jauh dari pantai. Beberapa populasi berada di dekat pemukiman (kantong) dan di zona hutan dekat zona rehabilitasi. Dari 19 populasi yang telah diamati, sembilan merupakan distribusi baru yang belum pernah didokumentasikan dan satu di antaranya berada di luar kawasan TNMB. Populasi tersebut terdiri atas bunga mekar (7,89%), kuncup hidup (63,16%) dan kuncup mati (28,95%). Kuncup hidup dengan diameter 0,1–5 cm mendominasi populasi (50%), sedangkan kuncup yang siap mekar (diameter lebih dari 15 cm) hanya 0,42%. Tingkat keberhasilan kuncup untuk mekar diperkirakan rendah, sehingga keberlanjutan populasi R. zollingeriana terancam dan perlu dilestarikan, baik secara in situ maupun ex situ. Saran konservasi, baik secara in situ maupun ex situ disampaikan dalam makalah ini.

Abstract

In Bogor, the ex situ conservation of nutmeg is a biodiversity conservation that supported by village ecosystem approximation based on community. The study about community motivation factors for doing conservative action would provide information about community willingness prerequisite those. The study was conducted in Dramaga, Caringin, and Cijeruk May until November 2012 with total 115 respondent. The result from correlation analysis 13 variables that related with nutmeg conservation are occupation that significantly influenced (confidence value 95%), income, cost of living, land size, distance between house and land, (knowledge about which seed is good, germinating seed method, planting method, nursing method, and harvesting method) that come into natural stimulus; (knowlwdge about what part of plant that used and understanding line of traffic nutmeg trade) that come into benefit stimulus; and that was planted by respondent (not inherited) come into willing stimulus significantly influenced (confidence value 99%). From all those stimulus, the main prerequisite motivating community willingness for doing conservation is small size plant therefore can be planted around yard of their house. Result from factor analysis, dependent variable (nutmeg conservation or total nutmeg which have is influenced by independent variable; income respondent (X3) and land size (X4) with equation Y= 2.300 X3 + 0,0006X4.  Keyword: Benefit stimulus, Ex situ conservation, Natural stimulus, Nutmeg, Willing stimulus

Abstract

Bioactivity evaluation of trees species is an important step to get high economic value from Kerangas forest. Screening of plants that had antidiabetic activities was conducted by ethnobotanical survey. Antidiabetic evaluation of plant extracts were performed by α glukosidase inhibitor. Result showed there are three plant exracts from Kerangas forest had anti diabetic activity. The methanol extract of dried bark of Shorea balangeran, Cratoxylum arborescens and Baeckea frutescens inhibited 50% of α glukosidase activity at concentration: 0,816 ppm, 5,234 ppm, 21,796 ppm, respectively, while the IC50 of glukobay: 0,167 ppm. It can be conclude that methanol extract of Kerangas plant species had potential activities as antidiabetic.
