Abstract

Fishery resources at NorhGorontalo disrict was huge. The potential of Fishery Management Area from Laut Sulawesi to Pasicific Ocean includes around 590.970 ton of pelagicdivided into175.260 ton large pelagic, 384.750 ton small pelagic and the other kind of fish around 30.960 ton. On the other hand, the utilization of fishery resources still minimun that was only 46%. Government at North Gorontalo made capture fisheris as a main program to improve society welfare to minimize the lack of fishery resources utilization. The government should be aware of this situation to formulate and decide each policy. Policy that has been applied in this recent year in NorthGorontalo district was Minapolitan and it was held by the Indonesia Ministry of Marine and Fishery joined with Local Government. So, research of development fishery capture based minapolitan model was needed to designed a policy model as a guide to decide a capture fisheries policy. Methodology that using in this research was surplus production analysis to analyze the fish resource, proper tools to capture fish analysis, and SEM (Structure Equation Modeling) analysis. The result of this research showed that the utilization of fishery resources still lack under MSY (Maximum Sustainable Yield). Some of programs that should be developed were purse seine, hand line tuna,liftnet, hand line, and payang. The objective of minapolitan policy was creating local economic growth and increasing capture fisheries production and guarantee the quality of capture fisheries.

Abstract

Information about fishing as a whole is still very minimal due to limited fisheries statistics issued by the Regional Government as on the island of Timor. Fishing activities on the island of Timor is still implementing a simple system, especially when seen from the specifications of fishing units that have not been using equipment that is complex in its operation and ability of fishermen. In general, fishing activities are not only determined by the fishing units, but also is influenced also by natural factors is seasonal. Changes in oceanographic conditions causing changes to the abundance of fish in one place due to the migration of fish, fish behavior and so forth. This, in turn result in changes in the fishing ground for fishermen activity is strongly influenced by sea and wind conditions so that the fishing areas are not fixed throughout the year. The purpose of this research activity are: 1). Knowing the specifications of fishing units used to catch snapper in Kupang district, 2). Knowing snapper fishing area (Lutjanus sp.) In Kupang district, and 3). Analyzing catch snapper (Lutjanus sp.) from the type of fishing gear used to catch snapper in the district. The study was conducted in January-April 2010. Field data collection was done during the month of February 2010 to take a place at Harbor Beach Fishing Tenau-Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Data on fishing areas and fishing units are acquired, classified and analyzed descriptively by tabulation and display map images, whereas analysis of variance test (ANOVA) one-way classification is used to determine the monthly productivity of snapper fishing gear that is used to catch snapper. The main types of fishing gear used to catch snapper (Lutjanus sp.) in waters off Kupang district is the basic tow, fishing yield, and bubu. Fishermen fishing snapper (Lutjanus sp.) based in the PPP Tenau, Kupang district generally operate in waters that coral reefs.That location is an area not far from the base, the city of Kupang (1 mile) and about Kera Island (4 miles), and enough of the base area, ie around Semau Island (12 miles), District Papela (25 miles), Sub Landu (40 miles) and the District of Lole (60 miles). The size of snapper caught by tow basis greater than snapper caught with rod stretching and bubu. Monthly catches snapper ever obtained from the basic tow operation, ie 57% of all snapper obtained during 14 months; fishing yield and bubu each producing snapper as much as 37% and 6%.

Abstract

Utilization of fishing area in marine protected area in Ciamis waters by various activities may cause multi sectors conflict related to management of the Ciamis waters. The integrated zone system in that area has not been established yet, therefore it is needed to be studied. This paper aimed to analyze resources use of capture fisheries on Marine Protected Area in Ciamis waters. This research used spatial analysis approach for overlaying fishing ground area and other use. The result showed the rules of fishing lines and placement of fishing gear, fishing grounds and the existing zonation. Utilization of fish resources was appropriate in the zone, but fishing gears that still could triger social conflict and its operations did not fit with the sustainable utilization mechanisms. Fishing areas predominantly in coastal areas that need to be developed to encourage the fishermen fishing outside the coastal region.

Abstract

Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) usually used by small scale and large scale fishermen in Indonesia are FAD shallow and deep sea water which fix in the water.   Efectivities and eficiency research activity about portable FAD in the water to catch thunnus spp. and skipjack have never been done in Indonesia.  Need the research about portable FAD to catch thunnus spp. and skipjack in the water.  This research can strong National Inovation System with portable FAD to help the fishermen in fishing operation methods. Catching trial around portable FAD by using experimental fishing used troll lines and hand lines.   The purpose of this research are to know the number and composition of fish around portable FAD and to know  stomacth content and plankton in the water.

Abstract

Artificial reef made of coconut shell is an artificial habitat which is created to resemble the characteristics of natural reefs and become the alternative to improve the natural coral reefs that have been damaged. The opportunity of artificial reef utilization was researched by using experimental fishing and laboratory observe methods. The use of experimental fishing is to do the catching proses around the artificial reefs. The research was done in August 2013. Laboratory observe was done in September 2013 by observe the sample of fish intestines to get the data of abundance plankton from the inside of fish stomach. The results showed that 64 fishes was catches by bubu consist of 12 species. Red Breast Wrasse (Cheilinus fasciatus) from family Labridae is the dominant species. The plankton composition from the laboratory observe showed that Rhizosolenia and Leptocylindricus are the dominant plankton which indicate that the water is on good condition. Artificial diversity index ranged between 0,52-0,66; the uniformity index ranged between 0,17-0,21 and dominance index-0,45.

Abstract

Fishing has adirect and indirect impacton coastal and marine ecosystems. The fishing activity has been intensively conducted in the Southeast Maluku district and potentially impact the fish resources negatively. Fishermen generally catch fish using gill nets, lift net and hook line. This study aims to analyze the impact of fishing on ecosystem structure and trophic level of the catch by each fishing gear. An experimental fishing was conducted for the sampling strategy by means of fishing operations using gill net, lift net and hook line. Data were analyses for parameters of feeding habits, length-weight relationships, and trophic level of the catch. The results showed that trophic level of fish taken by lift net and gill netranged from 2.9 to 3.7 which grouped as TL3, dominated by species of omnivorous feeding habit (zooplankton). The gill net has dominantly caught the group of fish at trophic level 5 (4.0–4.5). The average total length of the dominant fish targets were D. Russeli (18.2±12.5cm), Sardinella longiceps (19.8 ± 13.3cm), S.crumenopthalmus (21.9 ± 14.2cm), Lethrinus lentjan (20.1 ± 13.3 cm) and Upeneus mulocensis (21.9 ± 14.2 cm). For the average weight ofthe main catches were D. Russeli (90 ±35 g), Sardinella longiceps (81±28g), S.crumenopthalmus (89 ± 40g), Lethrinus lentjan (92 ± 28g) and Upeneus mulocensis (90 ± 30g). The catch by lift net, gillnet and hook line indicates unbalance exploitation of the natural food chain. TL groups 3 and 5 was more dominantly exploited. It is theoretically potentially impacting the ecological balance of fish resources in these habitats. Furthermore, the lift net and gill net have greater impact on sustainability of fish resources than hook line due to both the earlier dominantly exploited unallowable catch sizes (juvenile) of the fish target. Abstract

Research on fish behavior in boat lift net fisheries (bagan petepete) equipped with LED light is very important since the similar research is very limited conducted in Indonesian waters. The purpose of this study was to understand the LED light distribution and its impact on the fish behavior around the LED light.  This study was conducted in the laboratory of Simulation Workshop and Navigation, Pangkep State Polytechnique of Agricultural and fishing experiment was done in Barru District waters, Makassar Strait, South Sulawesi. The light intensity was measured by a digital lux meter and under water lux meter, while fish behavior was observed by side scan sonar color. Light intensity analyses showed that the distribution of 80 watts LED light was mostly focused with 1096 lux with an angle168°. Fishes approached the light at 5-10 m and 20-30 m water depth from all directions after all lights were turned on. Fishes in smaller groups and higher density concentrated around the light when only one lamp was turned on. After catch processing, some fishes left the lighting area and others still stayed in the lighting area. Keywords: fish behavior, LED lamp, light fishing, lift net

Abstract

Fish aggregating devise (FAD) based fisheries have become a dominant economic support (about 90%) of the community of the Kei Islands in Southeast Maluku Regency. However, it will not last long if the fisheries is not well managed and financially balanced. This study aimed to analyze the attributes of sustainable FADs-based. fisheries and to assess the financial feasibility for an investment. The method used was the analysis of FADs investment, the consumption and income of the fishermen’s households of mini purse seine and FADs, contribution to the local revenues, and the growth of fishing supporting business. The analyses results showed that the investment for a FADs was of Rp. 13,714,000, mini purse seine of Rp. 426,875,000, handline of Rp. 71,75 million, and troll lines of Rp. 72,75 million, household consumption of Rp. 13,625,730. The income of FAD fisherman was of Rp. 164,143,125, mini purse seine fisherman of Rp. 164,143,125, and entrepreneur of Rp. 328,286,250. The index value of the sustainable FAD management was 62.17 indicating a sustainable index.  Keywords: FAD (Fish aggregating device), Kei Islands, Management, Sustainability

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan konstruksi bubu lipat yang memberikan jumlah tangkapan lobster terbanyak dan membuktikan bahwa tutupan dapat meningkatkan jumlah tangkapan lobster. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium menggunakan metode percobaan.  Satu bubu lipat nelayan atau bubu lipat standar (BS) dan 2 konstruksi bubu yang dimodifikasi dibandingkan. Bubu modifikasi terdiri atas bubu lipat modifikasi 1 (BM-1) dan bubu lipat modifikasi 2 (BM-2). Ketiga bubu berbentuk balok dengan dimensi 50 × 33 × 18 (p × l × t) (cm). Celah masuk BS berbentuk celah sempit, sedangkan BM-1 dan BM-2 adalah 4 persegi panjang dengan ukuran 33 × 6 (p × t) (cm) yang dilengkapi dengan deretan jeruji besi. Dalam penelitian ini, ketiga bubu dan 20 lobster dimasukkan ke dalam tangki air. Bubu diangkat setelah direndam selama 30 menit. Aktivitas lobster diamati dan jumlah lobster yang terperangkap dihitung. Ujicoba penangkapan lobster dilakukan sebanyak 20 ulangan. Pengaruh tutupan pada bubu yang menghasilkan tangkapan terbanyak juga diujicoba. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa BM-2 menangkap 470 individu, atau lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan BM-1 (221 individu), dan BS (109 individu). Penggunaan tutupan menghasilkan jumlah tangkapan sebanyak 227 individu, sedangkan  tanpa tutupan hanya 123 individu.

Abstract

Terumbu karang buatan yang terbuat dari tempurung kelapa merupakan habitat buatan yang menyerupai karakteristik terumbu karang alami yang dapat menjadi alternatif untuk memperbaiki degradasi terumbu karang alami. Peluang pemanfaatan terumbu karang buatan diteliti melalui penelitian lapang dan penelitian laboratorium. Penelitian lapang digunakan untuk melakukan proses penangkapan ikan di sekitar terumbu karang buatan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2013. Penelitian laboratorium dilakukan pada bulan September 2013 dengan meneliti sampel usus ikan untuk mendapatkan data kelimpahan plankton yang ada dalam perut ikan. Hasil penelitian lapang menunjukkan Ikan yang tertangkap dengan bubu selama penelitian di terumbu karang buatan sebanyak 64 ekor dengan 12 spesies. Spesies yang paling mendominasi adalah ikan Nori Merah (Cheilinus fasciatus) dari famili Labridae. Komposisi plankton yang terdapat pada isi perut ikan hasil tangkapan di tiga terumbu didominasi oleh Genus Rhizosoleniadan Leptocylindricus yang merupakan indikasi baik dari suatu kondisi perairan. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman (H’), nilai keseragaman (E) dan indeks dominansi (C) pada hasil tangkapan terumbu karang buatan secara berturut adalah 0,52-0,66, 0,17-0,21 dan 0,27-0,45
