Abstract

Background of this research was students understanding of mathematical concept and students rarely make a summary of the materai provide by the teacher. Study was to examine students understanding of mathematical concept using a model of cooperative script with handout is better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts using conventional learning ". This type of research is experimental research, wich used subject random. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP 2 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan in the Academic Year 2013/2014. The result of hypothesis test was accept  = 0.045 < α = 0.05, so hypothesis was accepted. It can be concluded that understanding of mathematical concepts in aplliying cooperative Script with Handout better than the understanding of mathematical concept students in conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted based on the fact which indicated the (1) low students ability to interact each others, (2) low students comprehension about mathematical concept and (3) low students achievement in mathematical subject. The purpose of this research was to know whether the students treated by Practice-Rehearsal Pairs strategy have better comprehension of mathematical concept than those who are treated by conventional strategy in SMA PGRI 1 Padang. This was an experimental research which used random sampling. The population was the X grade students in which X1 was the experimental class while the X4 class was the control class. The hypotheses was tested by using t-test. It was found that t-obtained (4.67)> t-table (1.67). Thus, the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that the students treated by Practice-Rehearsal Pairs strategy had better mathematical comprehension than those who treated the conventional strategy.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe background of  this research were the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts that still low and students’ less responsible for a given task. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by implementing active learning strategy type of Group To Group was better than students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by implementing conventional learning in class XI IPA SMAN 6 Padang lesson year 2013/2014. Sampling was done randomly, which was selected XI IPA3 as the experimental class and XI IPA2 as control class. The research instrument was final test of learning that contains an indicator comprehension concept with reliability test r11 = 0.823. Hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test. From the calculations, the value of z ≤ -1.9918 has a probability p = 0.0233; because the p-value was smaller than α = 0.05; than H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Based on the hypothesis test results concluded that the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by implementing active learning strategy type of Group To Group was better than students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by implementing conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe background of this research was the students’ comprehension of mathematic concept still low and the students did not want to ask about the materials that they have not comprehend yet, it could be seen from the result of the second daily test mathematic students at seventh grade of junior high school Semen Padang in year 2013/2014 The kind of this research was experimental research and the design of this research was randomly towards the subject The instrumentation of this research was the comprehension of mathematic concept test Based on the hypothesis test obtained t-table score = 1,67 and t-value= 4,47 because tvalue > ttable, so the hypothesis that the researcher used is accepted which was the believable level was 95 percent. The conclusion of this research was the students’ comprehension of mathematic concept that can using the cooperative learning that type Numbered Heads Together that using quiz was better than students’ comprehension of mathematic concept that using conventional learning at seventh grade of Junior High School Semen Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This purpose of the research a students activities progress and  was to study whether the mathematic conceptual understanding of the students taught by using generative learning  strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Batang Kapas. This was an experimental.The population of the research was the student in class VII registered in academic year 2013/2014. The instrument of the research was observation sheet and a posttest whose reliability was 0,75. The data collected was analyzed by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysist, it was found that the average score of the students in the experimental class (78,58) was higher than those in the control class (66,63).Tthe result of statistical test indicated that the value of tcalculated (7,986) was bigger than ttable (1,645). Based on these results, it was concluded that the mathematic conceptual understanding of the students taught by using generative learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Batang Kapas.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research is conducted due to great number of students who do not understand yet the concept of mathematics well, it is proven that there are still a lot of students who get low mark. This research is aimed at analyzing the learning activity of the students of class VIII SMPN 23 Padang and finding out whether the comprehension of the mathematical concept of the students by applying the strategy Active Knowledge Sharing is better than the comprehension of the mathematical concept of the students by conventional learning. This is an experimental research.The population of the research is the students of classVIII SMPN 23 Padang, academic year 2013/2014. The sample is taken at random. The instruments in this research are the observation sheet and the comprehension test of mathematical concept.The result of research shows that the activity of the students in learning mathematics using the strategy Active Knowledge Sharing increases. Hypothetical examination uses minitab by examining t, gained P-value = 0,000= 0,05, therefore it can concluded that the comprehension of the student’s mathematical concept using strategy Active Knowledge Sharing is better than comprehension of the student’s mathematical concept by conventional learning.

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACT This  research was carried out due to the students’ low understanding on mathematics concept. This research was designed for revealing whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Study Group active learning type was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII of SMPN 1 Hiliran Gumanti. This was an experimental research. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the two sample classes were normally distributed and homogenous. In addition, the result of t-test showed that the value of tcalculated (3,82) was higher than ttable (1,645) indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Hence, it was concluded that he mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Study Group active learning type was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII of SMPN 1 Hiliran Gumanti.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was grounded by the students’ low achievement in mathematics at SMP Semen Padang. This research was aimed at revealing whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Sucker Ball game was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VIII of SMP Semen Padang. By using random sampling technique, class VIII.5 was chosen as the experimental class and class VIII.1 was chosen as the control one. The instrument of the research was an essay post-test whose reliability was 0,86. The data collected was analyzed by using normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. The result of data analysis showed that the average score of the students in the experimental class (70,15) was higher than those in the control class (50,06). Furthermore, the result of statistical test indicated that the value of tcalculated (5,8407) was bigger than ttable (1,645). Based on these results, it was concluded that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Sucker Ball game was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VIII of SMP Semen Padang.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT This research was intended to reveal whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Index Card Match active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. The population of this research was all of students in class VII of SMPN 1 Sipora Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai registered in academic year 2013/2014. The instrument of the research was an essay test of 12 items whose reliability was 0,795. The data gathered was analyzed by using normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. Based on the result of data analysis it was found that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Index Card Match active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII of SMPN 1 Sipora Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted for the students’ low understanding on mathematics and low cooperative between them in comprehend the material given by the teacher .This research was aimed at revealing whether the use type of cooperative learning Student Team Achievement Division ( STAD ) on the students comprehension of  mathematical concept than the conventional learning in class VII of SMPN 1 Pagai Utara Selatan. This research is an experimental study . This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. Hypothesis test results obtained tcalculated = 2.07 and ttable= 1.669,  indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. So, it was concluded that the application of  Student Team Achievement Division ( STAD ) could improve the students comprehension of  mathematical concept better than the conventional learning SMPN 1 Pagai Utara Selatan with 95% confidence level . ( α = 0.05 )
