Abstract

A series of studies related to animal feeding technology to stimulate the egg production and egg quality with the development of a cheap source of protein types and useful has been done through the evaluation of viabilityand nutritive value of Indigofera tinctoria and in vivo treatments on quail and chicken. Research conducted since 2010 to October 2012 with a focus on increasing the ability to grow the Indigofera’s seed under soaking treatment inauxin hormone and testing the nutritional value on quail and chicken. The first study related to the viability testing is done by soaking the seed of Indigofera in auxin hormone before planting in the field. The study consisted of 4treatments and 5 replications of soaking period, namely: control, B (12 hours), C (24 hours) and D (32 hours) in the solution. The parameters measured were: viability and growth of seed and dry matter content of Indigofera leaf. Thesecond study tested the nutritive value of Indigofera in the ration of laying chickens and quail. Treatments were: 0, 2, 4 and 6% of Indigofera leaf in the ration. Parameters observed in were: egg production, fertility, hatchability andegg quality. The results showed that the viability of the Indigofera’s seed with soaking treatment significantly increased to 80% and soaking for 32 hours resulted a higher viability. The treatment of soaking in auxin hormonealso increased nutrient content of indigofera leaf especially protein. In terms of nutritional value, supplement of Indigofera leaf was very useful to improve the production and quality of eggs in both local laying chickens and quail.The addition of Indigofera leaf in the ration up to 5% also reduced the feed consumption and increasead Haugh unit of egg chicken. From these results it was concluded that the viability of Indigofera tinctoria increased by soaking inauxin hormone for 12-32 hours. These treatments also stimulated the dry matter and protein contents in Indigofera’s leaf. The supplement of Indigofera tinctoria leaf as much as 1-5% in the ration also improved the egg production and quality of local chicken and quail. It was indicated that Indigofera tinctoria contains not only protein and amino acids but also vitamin and mineral for egg quality

Abstract

Abstrak.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penampilan produksi telur Ayam Lokal Petelur Unggul (ALPU) yang diberi bahan pakan fermentasi  yang tersusun dari indigofera (Indigofera sp),  dedak padi, dedak jagung, dan bungkil kedelai sebagai substitusi sebagian ransum komersil.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP), Univeritas Syiah Kuala tanggal 16 Februari‒30 Mei 2017.  Penelitian ini menggunakan 48 ekor ALPU.  Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Ransum perlakuan adalah ransum komersil yang disubstitusi dengan bahan pakan fermentasi berbasis 15% indigofera sebanyak  0, 5, 10, dan 15%.   Berdasarkan hasil penelitian  disimpulkan bahwa bahan pakan fermentasi berbasis indigofera dapat digunakan sampai 15%  tanpa berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap produksi   dan massa telur ayam ALPU. Performances of Egg Production of  ALPU Chickens  Fed Fermented Feed Based on Indigofera spAbstract.   The objective of this study was to determine effect of inclusion of fermentation feed constituted of 15%  Indigofera sp + 40% rice bran+ 25% corn bran + 20% soybean meal as partial substitution of commercial diet  on egg production of selected native chickens.   As many as 48 selected native pullets were used in this study.  The study was performed in to completely randomized design, consisted of  4 treatments and 4 replications.  Replication was an experimental unit consisted of 3 birds.   The results of study indicated that including of 15% fermentation feed based on 15% Indigofera sp could be used up to 15% to  substitute commercial diet without adverse effect on egg production of selected native chickens.  It was supposed that using fermentation feed based on 15% Indigofera sp had no adverse effect on egg production and egg mass.

Abstract

Abstract. The objective of present study was to determine effect of feeding tilapia  fishes (Oreochromis niloticus) with the commercial diets partially substituted by Organic Pelet Feed  (OPF) composed by cattle feces,  soybean meal, rice bran, and probiotic on total income.  The study was conducted  in  Research Station II Ie Sueum,  Syiah Kuala University,  June 1 until  August 29,  2016.  The study used 1600 of  a week old of tilapia fish.  The study was performed into completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications.  Each replication was an experimental unit, consisting of 100 fishes.  The treatment tested was feeding tilapia fishes with  commercial diets partially substituted by OPF with the level of  0, 10, 20, and 30%, respectively.  The OPF was made up of cattle feces 50%+rice bran 30%+soybean meal 19%+probiotic 1%.  Parameters measured were final body weight (FBW),  total feed consumption (TFC), and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) as well as total income.  The data of  FBW and TFC were analyzed by Analysis of  Variance (ANOVA) (Ott, 1993), while  the data of IOFC and total income were analyzed by the economical parameters of R/C and B/C ratio (Soekartawi, 1995).  The results of study showed that OPF could be used up to 20% to substitute commercial diet in raising tilapia fish with the best level was  10% most significantly (P<0,01) increasing body weight of tilapia fish.  It was considered that the highest income of  raising tilapia fish was resulted by administrating 10% OPF.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah asal feses sapi sebagai bahan pembuatan pakan pelet guna memacu pertumbuhan ikan Lele Dumbo.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di Station Riset II (dua) Ie Suum, UPT. University Farm, Aceh Besar,  tanggal 22 Mei‒14 Agustus 2016. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Setiap ulangan merupakan unit percobaan, masing-masing terdiri dari 50 ekor ikan Lele Dumbo. Perlakuan menggunakan pakan komersil ikan 781 Hiprovite yang disubtitusikan dengan pakan pelet organik. Parameter yang diamati adalah berat badan, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi pakan, konversi pakan, efisiensi pakan, kelangsungan hidup, dan kualitas air (pH, suhu, kelembaban, cahaya). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan pakan limbah asal feses sapi berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0.01), terhadap berat badan, pertambahan berat badan, dan konsumsi ransum ikan Lele Dumbo, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05)  terhadap konversi dan efisiensi pakan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pakan pelet organik asal feses sapi dapat memacu pertumbuhan ikan Lele Dumbo. Utilization of Cattle Feces as Materials for Pellet Feed to The Weight Gain of Catfish Abstract. The aim of present study was to utilizase cattle feces as materials for making organic pellet feed to improve the growth of catfish.  The study was conducted  in Station Research II (two) Ie Seum Unit, University Farm, Aceh Besar, May 22-August 14, 2016. The study was designed into completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each relication was an experimental unit consisting of 50 catfishes.The treatment was substition of commercial feed fish (781 Hiprovite) with  organic pellet feed with the level of 0, 10, 20, and 30%, respectively.  Parameters  measured were body weight, feed intake, feed conversion, feed efficiency,  livebility, and water quality  (pH, temperature, moisture, light). The results of study showed that administration of organic pellet feed  affected highly significant (P<0.01) on body weight, body weight gain and feed intake of catfish. However, there were no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed conversion and feed efficiency.  It was concluded that the organic pellet feed composed mainly from cattle feces could  improve the growth of catfish

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan ayam kamaras jantan dengan pemberian ransum komersil yang sebagian disubstitusi dengan tepung ampas tahu + tepung kulit telur + feed supplement. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP), Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh tanggal 7 Januari‒16 Maret 2016. Penelitian menggunakan 64 ekor DOC (Day Old Chick) ayam kamaras. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah ransum komersil broiler 512 Bravo yang disubtitusi dengan tepung ampas tahu + tepung kulit telur + feed supplement sebanyak 0% (P1), 5%+1%+1% (P2), 10%+2%+1% (P3), dan 15%+3%+1% (P4). Parameter yang diamati adalah berat badan akhir, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi ransum, konversi ransum, dan mortalitas. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa meskipun secara statistik perbedaannya tidak nyata (P>0,05), penggunaan tepung ampas tahu + tepung kulit telur + feed supplement cenderung menaikkan berat badan dan pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi ransum, dan memperbaiki angka konversi ransum ayam kamaras. Evaluation of Male Kamaras Chicken Growth Fed Tofu Waste Meal + Egg Shell Meal + Feed Supplement Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the growth of male kamaras chickens fed a broiler commercial ration partially substituted with tofu waste meal + egg shell meal + feed supplement. The research was conducted at the Field Lab, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh on January 7 until March 16, 2016. The study used 64 DOC (Day Old Chick) of male kamaras. The treatments were using broiler commercial ration partially substituted with tofu waste meal + egg shell meal + supplement with different level. Parameters measured were final body weight (FBW), average body weight gain (BWG), feed intake, and feed conversion. The results of study showed that although statistically no significant effects were detected (P>0.05) using tofu waste meal up to 15% + eggshell meal 3% + feed supplement 1% as a partial substitution of broiler commercial ration tended to increase final body weight, average body weight gain (BWG), and feed intake and repair feed conversion of male kamaras chickens

Abstract

Abstark. Penelitian ini telah dilakukakan di Station Riset II Ie Seum, UPT. University Farm, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh Besar. Penelitian berlangsung selama 90 hari, mulai tanggal 22 Mei sampai 14 Agustus 2016. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk memanfaatkan limbah feses sapi sebagai pakan alternatif pengganti pakan pelet pabrikan, mengurangi produksi pakan yang tinggi dalam budidaya ikan Nila, dan dalam hal ini memacu pertambahan berat badan ikan Nila. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan terdiri dari 4 ulangan. Perlakuan pemberian subsitusi dari pakan komersial dengan pakan pelet organik sebanyak 0, 10, 20 dan 30%. Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah berat badan, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi pakan, efisiensi pakan, konversi pakan, kelansungan hidup, pH dan suhu air. Pemberian subtitusi pakan komersial dengan pakan pelet organik berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap semua parameter yang diamati, yaitu berat badan, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi ransum, efisiensi ransum, dan konversi ransum. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa subtitusi pakan komersial dengan pakan pelet organik 10-20% dapat digunakan untuk memacu laju pertumbuhan ikan Nila hitam.  Effect of Feeding Cow Waste and Probiotics Feed Manufacturing Natural Materials as for Added Weight of Black Nile Tilapia Fish (Oreochromis Niloticus)Abstract. Research has been dane in Research Station II Ie Seum, UPT. University Farm, Syiah Kuala University, Aceh Besar. The was conducted for 90 days, starting on May 22 until August 14, 2016. The purpose of this study was to use waste as feed for cow dung cost and promote the growth and production of Nile Tilapia. This research used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and each replication. The treatment was subtitution of commercial diets with organic pellt feed (OPF) with the level of 0, 10, 20, and 30%, respeetively. The parameters observed were final weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, feed conversion, mortality/ life sustainability, pH and water temperature. Results study shwed that feeding organic pellet feed highly significant (P <0.01) affeted on all parameters, sach as final body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, and the feed conversion. The results of the study concluded that feeding organic pellet feed with a percentage of 10-20% was betterfor the growth rate of Nile Tilapia

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan kulit nanas dalam pakan fermentasi terhadap persentase karkas dan kolesterol daging ayam potong. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan ternak percobaan sebanyak 80 ekor anak ayam umur 2 hari selama tiga puluh lima hari yang diacak dan dibagi menjadi empat perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Adapun perlakuan ransum disusun berdasarkan tingkat penggunaan kulit nanas yang difermentasi, yaitu: P1 (0,0%), P2 (10%), P3 (20%), dan P4 (30%). Parameter yang diamati adalah persentase karkas dan kolesterol daging ayam potong. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan bila terdapat perbedaan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pakan yang mengandung kulit nanas difermentasi dalam pakan komersil berpengaruh nyata menurunkan (P<0,05) persentase karkas dan menurunkan kadar kolesterol pada ayam potong. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa kulit nanas yang difermentasi dalam pakan komersil pada ayam potong mampu menurunkan persentase karkas dan kolesterol pada daging dada ayam potong.  (Effect of green leather generation (Ananas comosus L. Merr) fermentation on the percentage of carcass and cholesterol chicken pieces) ABSTRACT. The study was conducted to determine the effect of pineapple skin utilization in fermented feed on carcass and cholesterol percentage of chicken meat. The design used is Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with experimental as many as 80 day old chicken (DOC) aged 2 days, randomly selected, divided into four treatments and four replications and treated for thirty five days. The ration treatment was prepared based on the level of fermented pineapple skin use, namely: P1 (0,0%), P2 (10%), P3 (20%), and P4 (30%). The parameters observed were the percentage of carcass and cholesterol of chicken meat. The data obtained were analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if the were differences followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test. The results showed that feed containing fermented pineapple skin significantly decreased (P <0,05) percentage of carcass and lower cholesterol levels in chicken meat. It can be concluded that the utilization of fermented pineapple skin in commercial feed have a significant effect on reducing the percentage of carcass and cholesterol in chicken breast meat.

Abstract

Abstrak. Perbaikan mutu genetik dapat dilakukan dengan cara inseminasi buatan (IB) pada indukan yang unggul. Keberhasilan IB dipengaruhi oleh kualitas semen dan bahan pengencer yang digunakan untuk penyimpanannya. Spermatozoa unggas lebih resisten terhadap cold shock (chiuing injury), sehingga sperma ayam tidak bisa dibekukan. Pada suhu kamar, spermatozoa segar ayam mampu hidup selama 30-45 menit. Ayam lokal pedaging unggul atau ALPU biasa disebut dengan ayam kampung super mencapai berat hingga 1,5 kg, pada umur 45 – 75 hari dan sudah siap dikonsumsi, hal tersebut yang membedakan dengan ayam kampung asli yang umumnya baru bisa dipanen setelah 3 – 6 bulan. Madu, royal jelly, dan propolis merupakan salah satu bahan pengawet organik yang mampu untuk memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi. Produk lebah ini mempunyai kandungan flavonoid yang berfungsi sebagai antibakteri, antivirus, dan antioksidan, yang dapat melindungi sperma dari mikroorganisme dan fungi. Kegiatan penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP) Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala yang terletak di Jalan Utama Gampong Rukoh, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. Penelitian dilakukan selama 70 hari, mulai tanggal 1 Juli – 10 September 2017. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan bahan pengawet organik dan lama penyimpanan terhadap kualitas makro dan mikroskopis sperma ayam ALPU. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial (RAL Faktorial) yang terdiri dari 2 (dua) faktor yaitu jenis bahan pengawet (P), dan rentang waktu (A).  Faktor bahan pengawet (P) terdiri dari 4 jenis bahan yaitu bahan pengencer NaCl Fisiologis 0,9%, bahan pengawet madu, royal jelly, dan propolis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa selain propolis, pemberian madu dan royal jelly (Faktor P) berpengaruh sangat nyata (P < 0,01) terhadap kualitas makro dan mikroskopis sperma kecuali pada konsentrasi sperma, hal tersebut dikarenakan perlakuan dalam penelitian hanya diberikan kepada sperma. Lama penyimpanan (Faktor A) juga berpengaruh sangat nyata (P < 0,01) terhadap kualitas makro dan mikroskopis sperma ayam pejantan ALPU, semakin lama penyimpanan maka semakin mempengaruhi kualitas makro dan mikroskopis sperma ayam pejantan ALPU. Dalam penelitian, madu dan royal jelly mampu mempertahankan keadaan lingkungan semen serta memberikan energi yang cukup untuk mempertahankan daya hidup spermatozoa hingga 36 jam dan masih baik digunakan untuk IB.The effect of using organic preservatives and storage duration on macro and microscopic quality of ALPU sperm cockAbstract. Increase on  l genetic quality of superior chicken could be aafafected by artificial insemination (IB). The implementation of  IB was influenced by the quality of the cement and the diluent used for its storage. Poultry sperm can not withstand cold sting (cold shock), so the chicken sperm can not be frozen. At room temperature, fresh chicken spermatozoa are able to live for 30-45 minutes. Local chicken meat superior or ALPU commonly known as local super chicken weighs up to 1.5 kg, at the age of 45-75 days and ready for consumption, this is what distinguishes genuine local chicken that can generally be harvested after 3-6 months. Honey, royal jelly, and propolis are the organic preservatives that are able to meet the nutritional needs  of chicken sperm. This bee product contains flavonoids that act as antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidants, which can protect sperm from microorganisms and fungi. This research activity was conducted at Field Laboratory of Animal Husbandry (LLP) of Faculty of Agriculture of Syiah Kuala University located at Main Street of Gampong Rukoh, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The study was conducted for 70 days, starting from 1 July to 10 September 2017. This study aims to determine the effect of using organic preservatives and storage duration on macro and microscopic quality of ALPU chicken sperm. This study was an experimental study using a Complete Random Factorial Design (RAL Factorial) consisting of 2 (two) factors: preservative (P), and time span (A). The preservative factor (P) consists of 4 types of ingredients were physiological diluent 0.9% of Na, preservative honey, royal jelly, and propolis. The results showed that in addition to propolis, the provision of honey and royal jelly (Factor P) had a high sigificantly effect (P <0.01) on the macro and microscopic quality of sperm except in sperm concentration.  Time span also have a high significantly  effect (P <0,01) to macro and microscopic quality of ALPU sperm cock. In addition, the longer of time storage will influence the macro and microscopic quality of ALPU sperm chicken. In conclusion, honey and royal jelly were able to maintain the state of the cement environment as well as provide enough energy to maintain the life spermatozoa up to 36 hours. The condition makes it possible to store a chicken sperm in honey and royal jelly dilutiton in along time for IB preparation.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the genetic potential of local meat chickens (LMC) to get the candidate of parent stock through the development of the selection method applied, as well as economical and practical approach and adjusment of nutritional requirement, especially protein and energy balance. Research was divided into 2 groups, where the female and male parent was reared for 2 months and the offspring (F1) was reared for 4 months and selected. The parent was mated by the method of artificial insemination (AI). Method of selection was used on the orientation of the meat chicken production parameters with a positive correlation with the gene expression Diet treatments were formulated by optimal nutrition standards in order to drive maximum primary production of local meat chicken, contained 17, 19, and 21% of protein. The result showed that feeding diet with 19% protein can stimulate optimum growth and food conversion of ALPU male, whereas female growth LMC in line with the increasing availability of protein in the diet, wherein feeding 21% of protein result in optimal growth until age 4 months.

Abstract

The response of local meat chicken growth to supplementation of isolated grain protein and the difference in ration protein levelABSTRACT. A research which aims to determine the response of local meat chicken growth of protein supplementation with Isolation Grains Protein (IGB) and the difference in ration protein level has been conducted in the Laboratory of Experimental Farm, Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University-Darussalam, Banda Aceh for 90 days. This study used a completely randomized design factorial with 2 factors, consisting of factors namely male gender (JJ) and female (JB) and the ration is a combination of factors and levels IGB in the ration, ie: treatment A: 17% protein and 0.4% IGB; treatment B 19% protein and 0.6% IGB and treatment C 21% protein and 0.8% IGB. Each combination consisted of 4 replications and each replication consists of 5 chickens. Parameters observed in the study were weight gain, achievement of final weight, consumption, conversion and efficiency of ration. DOC used a derivative result of selection of local meat chicken which are in the process of selection. Data acquired and processed by ANOVA.The results showed that supplementation of IGB and ration protein level difference was significantly effect (P <0.01) on weight gain, final weight, rate of consumption, conversion efficiency of rations and rations, but there is no interaction effect between sex and ration factors . The highest weight gain obtained in the male local chicken achieved by feeding a ration B (93.23 grams), while the hen rations achieved by providing treatment C (63.86 grams / week). The highest final body weight of male chicken on treatment B (1491.5 gram/90 days) and hens in treatment C (1061.5 gram/90 days). However, the highest ration consumption in both male and female local chickens obtained from the ration A. Feed conversion value and the best feed efficiency obtained in treatment B for the treatment of male and C for female chicken. The study concluded that there were different responses between male and female local chickens of the use of IGB in the rations. In male local chicken, IGB is more effective when added in the ration with a protein level of 19% whereas in female at the protein level of 21%.
