Abstract

Endophytic fungi have been known to produce a broad range of biologically active secondary metabolites. One endophytic filamentous fungus, Coelomycetes AFKR-18, isolated from the young stems of a yellow moonsheed plant, Arcangelisia flava, has been found to produce pachybasin when placed in a liquid medium. The chemical structure of pachybasin was deduced from MS, 1D-, 2D-NMR spectrum analysis, and from reference data. On a micro-dilution test, pachybasin showed antimicrobial activities against E. coli, B. subtilis, M. luteus, S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, A. niger, and A. flavus, with MIC values of 64.0 µg/mL, and against S. aureus and F. oxysporum with MIC values of 32.0 and 16.0 µg/mL respectively.

Abstract

Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang berguna mengatasi kerusakan oksidatif akibat radikal bebas dalam tubuh sehingga turut berperan mencegah berbagai macam penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari beberapa tumbuhan obat Indonesia. Sebanyak 37 ekstrak metanol tumbuhan obat diuji aktivitas antioksidannya secara in vitro menggunakan metode peredaman radikal bebas 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) dan vitamin C sebagai kontrol positif. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan 29 ekstrak memiliki aktivitas diatas 50% pada konsentrasi 1000 ppm. 5 ekstrak dengan aktivitas tertinggi antara lain ekstrak kulit batang Sapium baccatum dan Leucosyke capitellata, ekstrak daun Ardisia crispa, Glochidion cauliflorum, dan Glochidion superbum.

Abstract

Fungal endophytes have been known as sources for bioactives with high chemical structure variability. This study aimed to screen extracts of some endophytic fungi associated with plants from Enggano Island as antioxidant and antibacterial using thin layer chromatography (TLC) bioautography method. Antibacterial ativity was performed against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Seventeen out of 22 extracts showed growth inhibition activity against both bacteria, while 16 extracts were active as DPPH free radical scavenging agents. Further determination on IC50 value of four prominent extracts revealed that fungal endophytes AK3018-1, FC-1, KC-4, and SO-3 have IC50 value of 85, 84, 704, and 347 ?g/ml, respectively in DPPH radical scavenging method. Extracts of fungal endophytes CR-3, CS-2, and SM-2 showed prominent antibacterial activity among other extracts, indicated by wide clear white zone around the spot. Further evaluation on minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of those three extracts by microdilution method showed that CR-3, CS-2, and SM-2 have MICs value of 512, >512, and 64µg/ml, respectively against S. aureus.Fungal endophytes AK3018-1, FC-1, KC-4, SO-3, CR-3, CS-2, and SM-2 were respectively isolated from Dioscorea bulbifera tuber, Fibraurea chloroleuca twig, Knema cinerea twig, Smilax odoratissima stem, Cryptocarya sp. twig, Calophyllum soulattri twig, and Smilaxmacrophylla stem.

Abstract

Problem in this research was the low result of student learning. The aim of this research were to develop LKPD based PBL and to determine the effectiveness of LKPD in improving student learning outcomes in thematic lesson The theme of Our Friends Environment. This research was a research development (R & D). The population was 236 students of fifth class in Badarudin Group and the sample is 30 fifth class s students . The result of the research showed that: (1) the validation result by the material expert is 90,90, the media expert is 92,71 and the teacher equal to 91,52 which all are classified as very suitable category (2) The result of gain score of experimental group is 0.7 in the high category and for control class is 0.5 in medium category. that it is known that the results of student learning using LKPD PBL better than student learning outcomes that use conventional teaching materials.Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan LKPD berbasis PBL serta mengetahui efektifitas LKPD dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran tematik Tema Lingkungan Sahabat Kita. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R&D). Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 236 siswa kelas 5 gugus Badarudin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) hasil validasi oleh ahli materi sebesar 90,90, ahli media sebesar 92,71 dan guru sebesar 91,52, ketiganya tergolong dalam kategori sangat sesuai digunakan untuk siswa kelasV (2) hasil uji gain skor kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,7 masuk kategori tinggi dan hasil uji gain skor kelas kontrol 0,5 masuk dalam kategori sedang. Sehingga diketahui bahwa hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan LKPD PBL lebih baik dibandingkan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan bahan ajar konvensional.Kata kunci : Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik, Problem Based Learning, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

This study aim to examine the aphrodisiac activity of ethanol extract from the tail meat of porcupine (Hystrix javanica F. Cuvier, 1823) that is traditionally believed by people in Java (Indonesia) could enhance male vitality and sexual perfor-mance. Twenty sexually inexperienced male mice were randomly divided into four groups and paired with artificially estrus female mice after one hour of drug an extract administration. Two doses of ethanol extract; 150 and 750 mg/kg were administered (p.o) to male mice. Sildenafil citrate was used as the positive control while 5% Tween 80 solution used as the negative control. Sexual behavior parameters such as mounting and intromission were observed for three hours of mating. Male mice treated with ethanol extract of porcupine tail meat at the dose 750 mg/kg BW showed higher mounting and intromission frequency compared to the group of ethanol extract dose 150 mg/kg. After 2 hours of admin-istration showed the highest frequency compared to all groups. However, the ethanol extract could not reduce the mount-ing and intromission latency as low as sildenafil citrated treated group. Present findings provide preliminary evidence of aphrodisiac properties from the ethanol extract of porcupine tail meat.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi baik hewan, tumbuhan, maupun mikroorganisme. Diaporthe sp. merupakan jamur endofit yang hidup pada tumbuhan gambir. Jamur ini dapat memproduksi metabolit sekunder yang bernama (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A. Senyawa tersebut memiliki kemampuan sebagai antimikrobia terutama terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri penyebab infeksi terbesar di dunia. Asia merupakan benua dengan kejadian methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) tertinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek dari (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A terhadap hati mencit yang terinfeksi S. aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 ekor mencit jantan. Mencit dibagi menjadi enam kelompok perlakuan. Perlakuan pertama merupakan kontrol negatif (tanpa perlakuan), kelompok kedua sebagai kontrol positif (perlakuan S. aureus kelompok ketiga diinjeksi S. aureus dan dicekok (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A dosis 50 mg/kg BB (P1), kelompok keempat diinjeksi S. aureus dan dicekok (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A dosis 100 mg/kg BB (P2) dan kelompok kelima diinjeksi dengan S. aureus kemudian dicekok (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A dosis 200 mg/kg BB (P3). Hewan uji dinekropsi dan dikoleksi hatinya untuk histologi. Hasil pemeriksaan histopatologis memperlihatkan adanya peradangan pada hati semua perlakuan kecuali kontrol negatif. Dosis efektif (+)-2,2’-Episitoskirin A yang dapat mengurangi tingkat peradangan akibat infeksi S. aureus adalah 50 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

Ellianol 70% and water exlracls of Alpinia spp. i.e. Alpinia zemmbei. A. kaisumadai. A. malaccensis and A. officinarum were examined for their impact in in-vitro phagocytosis activity and capacity of mouse (Mus musculus) peritoneum macrophage induced by Staphylococcus epidermidis.The extract concentrations used in this experiment were 0: O.I: 1.0: 10: 100: and 1000 µg/ml,Imboost (Echinacea pwpurea extract) 1000 µg/ml was used as positive control while distilled water as negative control.The assay results showed that all of the extracts were active to promote phagocytosis activity and capacity of macrophage cells.The phagocytosis acitivity and capacity were increased by increasing extract concentration, and ethanol extract showed better activity than water extract. Alpinia officinarum and A. kaisumadai extracts reveal better phagocytosis activity and capacity than others. Activity and capacity of phagocytosis of each concentration was significantly (P<0.05) different each other as well as with negative control. There is significant difference among each extracts and positive control at 1000  µg/ml

Abstract

Pathogenic bacterial resistance to antibacterial agents used in the treatment of recent formal systems have undergone significant increase. It is necessary to get a source of new antibacterial agents to overcome resistance. Endophytic fungi have been known as one of the organisms that have the ability to produce a variety of bioactive metabolites. In this study, 26 endophytic fungi have been isolated from various parts of Cinnamomum burmannii plant. The results of antibacterial activity screening of endophytic fungal extracts byTLC bioautography method without elution showed that as many as 18 extracts inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus InaCC-B4 with the diameter of inhibition zone (DIZ) were in the range of 5.00 to 16.00 mm. On the other hand, the number of extracts that could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli InaCC-B5 were 24 extracts with the DIZ were in the range of 4.00 to 28.00 mm. A detailed analysis of eluted TLC-bioautography method showed the chemical compounds of extracts that were responsible for antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Pengobatan tradisional merupakan suatu bentuk kearifan lokal yang patut diberi perhatian  khusus untuk dilestarikan. Mengingat praktik pengobatan ini sudah mulai tergeser oleh pengobatan moderen.  Oleh karena itu,   penelitian ini dilakukan betujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan makna leksikon obat dalam praktik pengobatan tradisional masyarakat Sumbawa Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu pendekatan kualitatif. Wujud data penelitian ini berupa informasi lisan dan dokumen yang didapatkan dari informan yang merupakan penduduk asli Sumbawa, maka data tersebut diambil dengan metode dokumen, dan wawancara.Data yang akan diperoleh selanjutnya diabsahkan dengan menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Selanjutnya dianalisis dengan teknik penganlisisan yang dikembangkan oleh Miles dan Huberman. Dari hasil analisis data,  pengelompokan  obat tradisional Sumbawa dikelompkan kedalam tiga kelompok, yaitu (1) obat bahan dari tanaman dan atau rempah, (2) hewan, dan (3) doa. Bentuk obat berbahan   tubuh-tumbuhan memiliki 10 istilah, yaitu (1) ai angat, (2) pegal, (3), semek (4) temar, (5)parapa (6) keramas, (7) apis, (9) lalap, dan (10) minyak lala. Selanjutnya, obat berbahan hewan tidak memiliki istilah khusus, beberapa  hewan yang digunakan sebagai bahan obat-obatan, yaitu  kelelawar, kuda, tokek atau cicak, belut, rusa, dan kambing. Sementara obat  berupadoa yang digunakan menggunakan bahasa arab yang sebagian berumber dari Al-Quran
