Abstract

Increasing the number of laundry industry influences on the increasing of detergent utilizzation. Thedominant substance contained in the detergent is Natrium Tripolyphosphat, a builder and surfactant.Therefore the waste contains Phosphate. Most of the laundry industry throw their waste without treatmentfirst. The waste would cause Eutrofication where the water body became rich of dissolved nutrient,descending of the dissolved oxygen and capability of water body assist power to water biota. Lumintu isone of the laundry industries which located in Tembalang district. According to the result of preexperiment,industrial waste water containes 10,21 mg/l phosphate. This value exceeds standard quality ofPerda Prov. Jateng no. 10 year 2004 about maximum value for total of phosphate is 2 mg/l. One ofwastewater treatment method is adsorption using the active carbon from plastic rubbish kind ofPolyethylene. This reseach purposes to know the capability of active carbon from plastic rubbish inreducing phosphate content with batch and column operation. The batch operation use 1,2 and 3 gramvariation weight active carbon from plastic rubbish for 30 - 60 mesh and 100 - 200 mesh variation mediasize. The batch operation has 45,45 % from the highest phosphate efficiency lowering on the 3 gram.Otherwise, column operation need 1 inch column diameter with 50 ml/minute and 100 ml/minute debitvariation. Continue trial had 54,75 % from the highest phosphate efficiency lowering on the 50 ml/minute.Constant value speed (k1) is 0,0108 ml/mg.s with capacity of adsorption (qo) 0,677 mg/g.

Abstract

The use of groundwater as a source of fresh water to the people would become a problem when it contains of Fe and Mn. This happens because in the ground water there is no directly contact with the air outside and the weathering of rocks, so that Fe and Mn in the ground water is still soluble. Meanwhile the amount of Fe and Mn in the ground is never the same in every location. This case could be some impacts to people’s kidney health. In this study, content of Fe and Mn in the ground water will be reduced by using Clay filter media. This study uses 3 wells water samples character with different level of Fe and Mn in sample A is 0.001 mg / l Fe, 0.16 mg / l Mn, sample is B 0.019 mg / l Fe, 0.05 mg / l Mn, and sample C is 3,242 mg / l Fe, 0.27 mg / l Mn. The height level of water influence to the Clay filter becomes the consideration in this study, they are 50 cm, 100 cm and 150 cm. Clay Filter is operated for 12 hours continuously with taking the reuslt of filtration sampling per 2 hours. Based on the research, this study finds the operating time to decrease the concentration of Fe and Mn with Clay Filter optimally from the three height levels in all kinds of different water samples and its categorization has reached 100% at the fourth hours.

Abstract

Noise intensityexceeds thethreshold value isa problemthatneeds tobe preventedbecause it canbe bad forhealthand work safety.The previous researchthat has beendoneshowedthatone of the effectsof noiseon healthisan increase inbloodpressure. This studywasan observationalanalyticstudy, using cross sectional approachwith a sample of15employeesRingFrameunitPT. APACINTICORPORA. Sampling wasdone usingpurposive samplingmethod.Noise intensitywas measured bySoundLevel Meter(SLM) andbloodpressurewas measured by digitaltension meter,this measurement was conducted for 7 days in order to get the accurate result. Processingtechniquesanddata analysis was donewithstatisticPaired SampleT-Test.The results showed that the intensity of noise is 95.09 dB which exceeds the noise limit value. Statistical test Paired Sample T-Test showed the results of t value for systolic blood pressure was -22,284 and the diastolic pressure was -38,055, where both of these were out of the range of t table ± 1,761. It stated there was a change on blood pressure of the workers after getting the noise exposed, so there is a correlation between noise and blood pressure of workers in Ring Frame Unit PT. Abstract

Babon River having a large area and important role for ecosystem directness in Central Java. This research aim is to knowing the influence of landuse about water quality of Babon River. Babon watershed landuse are residential, agriculture and industrial which can influence the quality of Babon River. Babon River water quality determination method by Water Quality Index -  National Sanitation Foundation (WQI-NSF). This method consist of 9 parameter which are physics, Chemistry and biology. The result showing that Babon River into middle category. Dominant contaminating in Babon River are Fecal Coliform, BOD and turbidity caused by domestic waste, industrial waste and agriculture waste. To reduce the pollutant is provision for resident around the septic tank, reduce the using of fetilizer and community participation in maintaining the water quality of Babon River.

Abstract

Ahmad Yani International Airport is an airport that located in the city of Semarang which are ± 40 flights per day. Noisy measurements carried out in three places, namely apron, cargo and security using a Sound Level Meter (SLM)brand Lutron SL - 4010. To determine the health complaints experienced by workers associated with changes in blood pressure distributing questionnaires to workers made 60 pieces, 25 pieces in each unit apron, 20 pieces in each unit of cargo, as well as 15 in the area of security. The questionnaire distributed to a random sampling method. The results of measurements of noise levels at the apron in the amount of 91,94 dBA, part cargo of 85,77 dBA and the security section of 68,68 dBA . Kep-51/MEN/1999 noise threshold value that is equal to 85 dBA. Data who obtained of this study tested by use statistical Chi-square test with a significance level (α) = 0,05. Based on statistical analysis show that there are significant changes between the noise level of the systolic blood pressure (p = 0,022) and diastolic (p = 0,037) at the officers before and after exposure to noise. Compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (APD) is required in order to avoid personnel exposure to noise effects.

Abstract

Municipal solid wastes are all the wastes arising from human and all human activities that are normally solid. Solid waste must  be managed well because waste can cause environment pollution and become disease vector. Candisari district area is part of service area in Semarang city. Broadly speaking, the condition of waste management in the Candisari District of Semarang has not been completely worked well based on it even take be evaluated by the condition of the existing service rate waste management is only 60% with garbage area service reaches 100%. From the analysis waste generation in volume in Candisari is 3,23 l/person/day and the composition solid waste based from waste volume are 32,10 % organic and 62,90% an-organic . Management planning of solid waste in Candisari consist of regulations sub system is enforcement of municipal solid waste regulations,  institutional sub system is optimize a function of UPTD as solid waste operator service, operational sub system is increase of solid waste utilization activity with 3R and composting. Financing sub system is source of municipal solid waste financing from APBD and retribution. Public participation sub system is public empowerment in solid waste utilization activity and keeps the regulations about solid waste management. With applying 3R and composting expected can increase public participation with solid waste utilization activity and landfill lifetime.

Abstract

Babon’s Watershed is one of watersheds in Central Java, which has a very important role for the sustainability of the system in the eastern part of Semarang which through Kabupaten Semarang, Semarang and Demak . Downstream part of the Babon’s river are the type of paddy land, dry land, forests, plantations and little settlements, while the lower reaches of the Babon’s river  dominated by land use type for settlements (ProLH-GTZ, 2005). Babon’s river water quality by calculation pollution index with scoring as follows: Water quality of segment 1 in Class I to class IV is Blackened Light. Water quality of segment 2 in Class I to Class III is the Blackened Light, and Class IV is a Good Condition. Water quality of segment 3 in Class I is the Blackened Medium , and Class II to Class IV is the Blackened Light. Water quality of segment 4 in Class I and Class II is Blackened Medium, Class III and Class IV is the Blackened Light. From the calculation of the pollution index Babon’s river water quality is still considered lightly blackened. Simulation results based on the parameters BOD, DO, Nitrate, Nitrite and Phosphate, indicating that the pollution index value has increased each year, so that could be said of the influence of land use change on river water quality status. Appropriate measures recommended in watershed management strategy given is a survival strategy. This strategy is done in trying to transform itself. Efforts repairs done by policies which are based on analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are held, to determine the policy efforts in watershed-management. Of the above strategies, the policy priority is to prevent water pollution and degradation of water quality by increasing the knowledge and participation of local communities in the watershed in the waste management and also improve waste management.

Abstract

Noise studies Ahmad Yani Airport is motivated by the high level of noise generated by aircraft engines on aircraft operations at Unit Apron. This study uses four points on the unit Apron is a point on the Right Wing, Left Wing, Front, and Rear aircraft to a safe distance, and at each point using the help of five within the distance of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 meters, then make noise contour, which in this method using from the point and the point that has the same value of noise, so it becomes a contour map easily to be observed by using the program Surfer 9.  Results of the study is high enough where there is the highest value is 120 decibels of noise for the measurement of the Apron Unit, and about 84 decibels for outcome measurement values average the lowest average, but the value of Quality Standard of Noise according to Minister of Environment No. 48 In 1996,  at 85 decibels.

Abstract

Generally, Restaurant waste water contain high concentration organic matter such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) dan Total Suspended Solid (TSS) that can continuosly contaminate the water body if not treated. Biofilms one of the waste water treatment alternative that can reduce the number of pollutant effectively. The reseacrh using anaerobic-aerob combination and using bioring with submerged attached growth treatment. In this research, five variations of the residence time are 5,67 hour (340 minute), 11,33 hour (680 minute), 22,67 hour (1.360 minute), 37,77 hour (2.266 minute), dan 56,67 hour (3400 minute). COD removal by the time variation of 13.69 %, 12.04 %, 34.46 %, 44.09 % and 55.52 % , while the removal for TSS are 36.26 %, 53.61 %, 65.88 % ; 73.86 % and 76.83 % . Therefore it can be said that the longer residence time in the biofilter treatment process , the greater the removal efficiency values that occur

Abstract

Semarang river is located in Central Semarang City which has length 8,25 Km and the large of the watershed or catchment area is 4,430 Km2.  With a density of settlements and high population, lack of sanitation infrastructure, rob sometimes happened and land subsidence which is occurred makes Semarang River area is susceptible in health risks.Degradation of water quality occurs due to the contamination of bacterium category of Coliform because of high population, bad of sewage system, lavatory fabrication, septic tank, and infiltration wells which is not eligible both in quality and layout based on pollutant source. Knowing the level of the contamination in Semarang River is needed by identified the load capacity Fecal Coliform contamination by using software QUAL2E.The result of its simulation based on the minimum capacity of Fecal Coliform compared by quality standard of PP No. 82 year 2001 that Semarang River is not comply the requirements of the quality standards of class I Fecal Coliform is > 1.23 E +13 cell/day , class II is> 1.23 E +14 cell/day, class III is > 2,46 E +14 cell/day and IV is > 2.46 E +14 cell/day. Simulation based on the maximum capacity of Fecal Coliform compared by quality standard of PP No. 82 year 2001 that Semarang River is not comply the requirements of the quality standards of class I Fecal Coliform is > 7,70 E +13 cell/day, class II is > 7.70 E +14 cell/day, class III is > 1.54 E +15 cell/day and class IV is > 1.54 E +15 cell/day. The domestic contamination is the largest source of pollution in Semarang River area. It is because the lack of good sanitation in Semarang River area. There are so many things that cause the bad sanitary condition in Semarang River area, such as there’s no waste treatment and there are so many septic tank which are not working property.
