Abstract

Kawasan suksesi alami pada area pengendapan tailing Tanggul Ganda berpotensi besarsebagai sumber cadangan karbon. Estimasi stok karbon biomassa vegetasi hutan suksesi alami TanggulGanda telah dilakukan selama Pebruari-Mei 2010.Sampel tumbuhan bawah dan serasah diambil dari 7blok yang masing-masing terdiri atas 6 sub plot. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa stok karbon dikawasan suksesi alami blok B4BL dan B5BL adalah 38,84 ton/ha berasal dari 23,87 ton/ha tumbuhanbawah dan 5,9 ton/ha serasah. Stok karbon di blok B1BB, B4BB, B9BB, B10BB, dan B12BB adalah112,4 ton/ha berasal dari 98,6 ton/ha tumbuhan bawah 13,81 ton/ha serasah. Nilai biomassa dan stokkarbon serasah yang lebih rendah dari tumbuhan bawah diduga berkaitan dengan proses dekomposisibahan organik yang berlangsung lebih cepat pada serasah. Setiap vegetasi menghasilkan kualitasbiomassa yang berbeda. dan sisa biomassa menjadi sumber bahan organik yang dapat dimanfaatkanuntuk memperbaiki kualitas tanah.

Abstract

The research was aimed to obtain the level of organic minerals supplementation with Total mixed fiber Amoniation (TMFA) as basal feeding for the improvement of nutrient digestibility in rumen. Technique of research conducted by In Vitro technique. The method used in this research is a Completely Randomly Designed (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. P1: 60% amoniation TMF + 0 x Organic macro minerals (Ca, P, and S) NRC (2000) + 15% Swamp Legumes. P2: 60% ammonia TMF + 0.75 x Organic macro minerals (Ca, P, and S) NRC (2000) + 15% Swamp Legum, P3: 60% ammonia TMF + 1 x Organic macro minerals (Ca, P, and S) NRC (2000) + 15% Legum Swamp P4: 60% amoniation TMF + 1.5 x Organic macro minerals (Ca, P, and S) NRC (2000) + 15% Swamp Legum. Each treatment was added with an organic micro-mineral consisting of 40 ppm organic Zn, 10 ppm organic Cu, 0.10 ppm organic Se, and 0.30 ppm organic Cr. The parameters measured in the in-vitro technique were, measurement of nutrient digestibility which consists of dry matter and organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber, NDF and ADF. The results showed that organic mineral supplementation had significantly different effect (P <0.05) on nutrient digestibility (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ADF, NDF). The conclusion of this study was that organic mineral supplementation of Ca, P and S 1.5 times of requirement according to NRC (2000) gave the best results for in vitro nutrient beef digestion with Total mixed fiber ammoniation (TMFA) as basal feed and supplementation of l5% legume swamp (Kemon air).Keywords: Amoniation, total mixed fiber, organic mineral, nutrient digestibility

Analisis Fisik Kimia Perairan untuk Mendeteksi Kualitas Perairan Sungai Rambang Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatra Selatan

Abstract

Penelitian terhadap kualitas dan kondisi perairan Sungai Rambang Kabupaten Ogan Ilir telah dilakukan selama Juli - November 2012. Sampel air diambil di 5 lokasi dengan 3 titik yang masing-masing diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Penentuan lokasi sampel  berdasarkan metode Purposive Random Sampling. Analisis kualitas air dilakukan secara langsung di lapangan dan di Laboratorium  kimia FMIPA  Universitas Sriwijaya. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kondisi fisik-kimia Sungai Rambang termasuk dalam kategori baik.  Kisaran suhu cenderung sama dengan suhu udara sekitar perairan yaitu 26-31 ºC, tingkat kecerahan 7-40 %, TSS 32-161 mg/L, TDS 41-278 mg/L, DHL 18-238 µS/cm, kecepatan arus 6-13 cm/detik, DO 5,90-12,35 mg/L, BOD 0,47- 5,42 mg/L, COD ttd- 14,5 mg/L, pH 4,85-6,95, dan lemak 211-289 mg/L. Nilai-nilai parameter ini masih sesuai dengan standar Baku Mutu Air (BMA) perairan sungai tahun 2010. Kualitas fisik kimia perairan berpengaruh terhadap keanekaragaman jenis dan distribusi plankton. Curah hujan mempengaruhi kondisi perairan, dan mempengaruhi jumlah serta jenis plankton dalam perairan tersebut. Pada musim penghujan, indeks keanekaragaman spesies plankton cenderung rendah  dibandingkan pada musim kemarau yaitu 1,22 – 2,26, dengan Indeks keseragaman  antara 0,31- 0,58 yang berarti tidak ada dominansi suatu populasi plankton. Kehadiran dan keanekaragaman populasi plankton merupakan indikasi kualitas lingkungan perairan. Hasil uji parameter  fisik kimia perairan yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa kualitas perairan sungai Rambang masih layak untuk dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat, namun tidak disarankan untuk digunakan sebagai sumber air minum.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Timbal (Pb) sebagai logam berat pernah dijadikan sebagai bahan aditif pada bensin. Pb dalam bentuk tetraetiltimbal (Pb2(C2H5)4) yang membantu proses pembakaran pada mesin kendaraan menjadi lebih halus dan cepat. Pb pada bahan bakar berdampak merugikan bagi lingkungan sekitar termasuk manusia. Pada saat pembakaran, Pb dilepas ke udara bersamaan dengan asap kendaraan. Senyawa yang dilepaskan tersebut berdampak negatif bagi kesehatan. Efek pertama keracunan timbal kronis sebelum mencapai organ target adalah gangguan haemoglobin dan berakibat pada menurunnya kadar haemoglobin. Gangguan anemia akan timbul bila kandungan Pb lebih dari 70 ug/dl atau setara 0,7 ppm. Berkaitan dengan efek  negatif  Pb dalam bensin, maka sangatlah penting untuk mendeteksi dan memperkirakan frekuensi kadar Pb dalam dalam darah pekerja pengisi bahan bakar (pekerja SBPU) yang melakukan kontak langsung dengan bahan bakar.Metode: Sebanyak 11 orang pekerja pengisi bahan bakar dan 2 orang pegawai administrasi menjadi responden dan kontrol dalam penelitian ini. Kriteria inklusi adalah jenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan dengan usia 20-40 tahun, dan kriteria eksklusi adalah yang tidak bersedia menjadi responden. Responden mengisi kuesioner dan di wawancara untuk mengetahui riwayat kesehatan, kemudian dilakukan pengambilan darah untuk dianalisis. Penentuan titik sampling berdasarkan metode purposive sampling dengan kriteria Stasiun Pengisian Bahan Bakar (SPBU) berada di daerah padat kendaraan dan beroperasi selama 24 jam.Hasil: Analisis darah menggunakan SSA Shimadzu 6300 menunjukkan kadar Pb<2.995 ng/nl. Hal ini mengindikasi tidak adanya Pb dalam darah responden. Tidak terdeteksinya Pb dalam darah diduga akibat responden terpapar Pb dalam jangka waktu singkat, penggunaan peralatan keselamatan (APD) saat bekerja, serta  dapat mengindikasi rendahnya kadar Pb pada bahan bakar kendaraan bermotor.Simpulan: Tidak terdeteksinya Pb dalam darah responden tidak berarti mengabaikan keberadaan Pb di dalam bahan bakar. Sangatlah penting untuk melakukan pemeriksaan kandungan kadar Pb secara rutin pada semua pekerja SPBU akibat resiko paparan Pb bagi kesehatan. ABSTRACT Title: Frequency Distribution Of Leads In Blood Workers Filling Fuel: Case Study Of Fueling Station at Plaju, South SumatraBackground: Lead (Pb) as heavy metal has been used as an additive in gasoline. Pb in the form of tetra ethyl lead (Pb2 (C2H5) 4) which helps the combustion process on the vehicle engine so that the engine sound becomes smoother and faster. Pb on fuel has a negative impact on the surrounding environment including humans. When burning in a vehicle engine, Pb is released into the air along with vehicle smoke. The compound released has a negative impact on health. The first of chronic Pb poisoning before reaching the target organ is the presence of haemoglobin synthesis disorder so that the haemoglobin level decreases. Anemic disorders will occur if the Pb content is more than 70 ug / dl or equal to 0.7 ppm. In connection with the negative effects of Pb in gasoline, it is very important to detect and estimate the frequency of Pb levels in the blood of fuel filling workers who make direct contact with fuel.Methods: As many as 11 fuel filling workers and 2 administrative employees became respondents and controls in this study.  The inclusion criteria were the sex of men and women aged 20-40 years, and the exclusion criteria were workers who were not respondents available. Respondents filled out the questioner and continued the interview to find out their medical history, then taking blood to be analyzed. Determination of sampling points based on purposive sampling method with the criteria of the Fuel Filling Station is in a crowded area of the vehicle and operates for 24 hours.Results: The results of blood analysis using SSA Shimadzu 6300 showed Pb level <2.995 ng / nl. This proves that Pb is not found in the blood of the respondent. No detection of Pb in the blood because the respondent was exposed to Pb in a short period of time, the use of safety equipment while working, and an indication of the low levels of Pb in motor vehicle fuelConclusion: Not detecting lead in the respondent's blood does not mean ignoring the presence of lead in the fuel. It is very important to check the lead content regularly on all gas station workers due to the risk of lead exposure to health.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas perairan Sungai Musi di perairanKelurahan 5 Ulu (titik 1 pada ordinat  02o59’41.2”S dan 104o 45’39.3’’E dan 7 Ulu (Titik 2 pada ordinat 02o59’39.3’’S dan 104o45’42.1’’E) di Kecamatan Seberang Ulu IKota Palembang. Parameter fisika, kimia, dan biologi perairan diukur di lapangan dan di laboratorium. Hasil menunjukkan kualitas perairan Sungai Musi untuk nilai-nilai dari beberapa parameter kimia seperti amonia, sulfida, besi, mangan, klorida lebih tinggi dari standar nilai yang diperbolehkan dalam suatu perairan sungai. Total colifrom sebesar 2400 koloni/100 ml  pada di Titik 1 juga melebihi batas kelayakan untuk nilai total coliform di perairan sungai.Berdasarkan hasil ini dapat dinyatakan kualitasperairan Sungai Musi, khususnya di lokasi sampling tidak layak digunakan untuk konsumsi karena terindikasi tercemar polutan dari industri dan feses.

Abstract

Information on the diversity of dragonfly in the University area is still not much. Reduced areas that support the growth and development of dragonfly species are thought to have an impact on the decline of the population and the diversity of these species. The purpose of this study identified and analyzed the diversity of dragonfly species. Dragonfly are collected through direct capture and using sticky traps, then visual observations are made for identification. Environmental conditions in the area of Sriwijaya University Campus is still good, with the visibility of environmental parameters in the form of DO, BOD and COD still meet environmental quality standards so that dragonflies are still able to lay eggs to keep their generation. Abstract

Abundance and species richness of the predatory arthropods on paddy treated with Bacillus thuringiensis bioinsecticide. Application of bioinsecticide from bacterial entomopathogen has not been reported yet that can decrease abundance and species richness of predatory arthropods, such as spiders and predatory insects. This research was aimed to analyze the abundance and species richness of predatory arthropods paddy fields applied by B. thuringiensis bioinsecticide on paddy in fresh swamp area. Areas observed were 2 ha paddy field’s at Situ Bagendit variety. Predatory arthropods inhabiting canopy were sampled using sweep but soil dwelling arthropods were trapped using pitfall traps. The result showed that abundance of spiders inhabiting canopy decreased significantly after B. thuringiensis bioinsecticide application on paddy compared to control without bioinsecticide but the abundance of predatory insects were not significantly affected by the bioinsecticide. Application of the bioinsecticide did not significantly affect the abundance and species richness of soil dwelling predatory arthropods, such as spiders and predatory insects.

Abstract

Kelimpahan Arthropoda karnivora di pertanaman padi ratun di sawah lebak yang diaplikasikan bioinsektisida Bacillus thuringiensis telah dilakukan di sawah lebak Pemulutan, Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan selama Agustus-Oktober 2013. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan Arthropoda karnivora padi ratun yang diberi aplikasi Bacillus thurngiensis dan tanpa diberi aplikasi bioinsektisida. Pengambilan sampel spesies Arthropoda dilakukan dengan menggunakan jaring serangga pada tajuk tanaman padi dan pitfall trap untuk serangga tanah. Keanekaragaman Arthropoda dihitung menggunakan Indeks Keanekaragaman Shannon, Indeks Dominasi Berger-Parker dan Indeks Kemerataan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelimpahan populasi Arthropoda karnivora didominasi famili Tetragnatidae, Coccinalidae, Lycosidae dan Carabidae.

Abstract

The study to investigate the effects of prenatal 2-methoxyethanol (2-ME) exposure , a solvent extensively used in various industries, and is derived from the plastizicer calles dimethoxyethyl phthalate (DMEP), on the learning behaviour and memory of male Swiss Webster mice (Mus musculus) has been conducted. Dams on gestation days 7-10 (group I) or gestation days 14-17 (group II) were injected subcutaneously with 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight (bw) a single dose of 2-ME with a volume of 0.1 ml/10 g bw. Controls were given sterilized bidistilled on gestation days 7-17. The dams were allowed to deliver spotaneously and to rare their offsping, which were ajusted at postnatal day 4, until wearing postnatal day 21. Postweaning bahavior was performed by 9 weeks ols males for learning and memory ability by avoideance learning test using shuttle box. Brains were weighed and fixed in Bouin’s solution untul tough, then the lenght and width of cerebrum were measured, and the razor blade sectioning on the brain was performed to observe were performed to observe the ventricular dilatation for detecting the presence of internal hydrocephaly. The results showed that prenatal 2-ME esposure caused postweaning behavioural deviations in the offsping. The postweaning F1 generation, 2-ME lowered the learning and memory ability showed by the decrease of the avoidance rate in the avoidance learning test. It can be concluded that prenatal 2-ME esposure administered subcutaneously produces behavioural deviations in the postnatal F1 generation of Swiss Webster mice (Mus musculus). The brains weigh and cerebral width decreased.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak kuda laut (Hippocampus kuda Bleeker) terhadap histologi tubulus seminiferus mencit (Mus musculus L.) jantan. Penelitian ini dirancang menggunakan RAL yang terdiri atas 7 kelompok yaitu sebagai kontrol diberi akuades dan perlakuan diberi ekstrak kuda laut dosis 75, 125, 175, 225, 275 dan 325 mg/kg bb. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Perlakuan diberikan secara gavage dengan volume 0,1 ml/10 g bb selama 34 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kuda laut dengan dosis 75, 125, 175, 225, 275 dan 325 mg/kg bb menyebabkan berubahnya struktur histologi tubulus seminiferus. Hal ini ditandai dengan lebih rapatnya asosiasi sel-sel spermatogenik dan terjadi peningkatan secara nyata jumlah rata-rata cacah spermatogonia, spermatosit dan spermatid. Jumlah total sel-sel spermatogenik meningkat sejalan bertambahnya dosis yang diberikan dibandingkan dengan kontrol kecuali pada dosis 75 mg/kg bb tidak berbeda nyata dari kontrol terhadap jumlah rata-rata spermatogonia dan spermatosit.
