Abstract

           The purpose of this research was to identified the compounds in ethanol extract of soursop flower and determined the antibacterial activity of the soursop flower extract on Salmonella enteritidis. The phytochemistry screening was done to identify the secondary metabolite compounds of this extract. The concentrations used of ethanol extract of soursop flower were 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, with ampicillin 10 μg/disc as the positive control and 10% Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) as the negative control. The antibacterial activity test of soursop flower ethanol extract against Salmonella enteritidis was held in vitro using the paper disc diffusion method by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone. The phytochemistry screening showed that the ethanol extract of soursop flower had secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenolic, and flavonoid. The result of the antibacterial activity test showed that there was no inhibition zone (bright zone) at various concentrations. So, it can be concluded that soursop flower ethanol extract (Annona muricata L.) contained the secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenolic, and flavonoid, and also this extract had no antibacterial activity against Salmonella enteritidis

Abstract

ABTSRACT. This rescerch was done in second stage, The first one of study was done in field at Darul Imarah contry Aceh Besar. Examined of ample in Parasitology  Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University. This aimed of the research to know how predilected on infested of mite in the host. This study used 50 goats were the clinically infected the each of sample pick up erupted of skin in the area of face, ear, neck, beck, fore legs and wrist. Paramaeter of the research were species and each area of host. The result showed that location has a significant effect on mites infestation. The largest number of Sarcopies are found on the face area and the smallest number in the hindd legs. On the other hand, the largest number Chorioptes and Psoroptes are found in the hind legs and samallest in the face and ear area.Key Word : Sarcoptes; Chorioptes and Psoroptes

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know various engorgement indices and durationof attachment of female Haemaphysalis bispinosa. Two feeding experiment were designedusing the following female-male ratio 1:1 and 30:1. At same time every day up to detachmentthe body length, width and depth of females were measured using a caliper to the determine ofbody volume. Fed body weights of the females were weighed on a electric balance. The resultof this research indicates that rate of engorgement indices in females (1:1 ratio) and (30:1 ratio)increased with increasing duration of attachment (P< 0.05) and the relationship betweenduration of tick attachment was above 92%. The feeding rate of females of the 30:1 ratio waslower than that of 1:1 ratio ones up to the 72 hours in the duration attachment.

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine and identify ectoparasites of Clarias gariepinus from earthen ponds, Banda Sakti – Lhokseumawe. Ectoparasites examination carried out by the method of smear preparations from mucus scrapings body and gills of fish. Thereafter, the scraped samples of mucus together with the tissues were placed on a Petri-dish containing  of 0.9% saline solution and stirred using a mounted pin. Some drops of the mixed solution were collected using dropper, placed on a clean slide. The smears were fixed in methanol and stained with 5% Giemsa solution. Smears were then examined under microscope. Of the total number examined, 20 (40%) were infected with ectoparasites ( Trichodina sp. 20%. and Ichtyophthirius multifiliis 20%). Key words: ectoparasites, Trichodina sp., Ichtyophthirius multifiliis, “dumbo” catfish, Lhokseumawe

Abstract

This study aimsed  to determine the type of ectoparasites on crab (Scylla serrata) in the water of Alue Naga Banda Aceh.  The samples of this study were 10 heads of mud crabs were taken from the Alue Naga waters Banda Aceh and taken to the Laboratory of Parasitology. Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh to identify the take ectoparasites on mud crab (Scylla serrata) by observing the outer body of the organism, then noted bleeding, wounds or swelling and pay attention to the type of organism that is attached to the body of mud crab, then dredge the outer parts of the body like the carapace, foot path, foot pool and gills were take it and then tweezers and then putting the object glass that has been provided and observed with a microscope with 100 times magnification and see what kind of ectoparasites that have been found and then compare with the identification key. From the results of this study concluded that ectoparasites which infects mud crab (Scylla serrata) in the waters of Alue Naga Banda Aceh come  from genus Chilodonella sp. Whichare predilections in the gills with a prevalence rate of 10%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT.The main purpose of the research was to determain the blood value of fascioliasis on blood of the cattle slaughtered in abattoir. It has been examined fifty samples of fecal, bile fluids and blood of the cattle slaughtered at the Banda Aceh abattoir. The samples were examined for the values of hematocrit, erythrocyte and leucocyte differentiation and the presence of helminth eggs respectively. It was found that the egg count variet from 7.168 ± 0.225 trematode eggs in fecal samples and 14.554 ± 2.154 trematode eggs in bile duct repectively. The result of this study showed that, the prevalence rate of fascioliasis in cattle categorical a mild infestation was 44 %. Both in the length and width of body size of the flukes are affected by the life stage. The size of adult fluke was about 34.649 ± 8.992 mm x 12.030 ± 3.494 mm, while that of young fluke was 1.650 ± 0.240 mm x 1.487 ± 0.227 mm. the blood indices of affected cattle indicated significant (P < 0.05) decrease in hematocrit and erythrocyte count compared with those not affected by the disease. The mean count of hematocrit and erythrocyte 29.773%  ± 3.366% and 547.337 x 104  ± 13.599 in cattle infected and in cattle non infected was 32.357 ± 2.818 and 566.457 x 104  ± 12.886 respectively. The result of this study, also significant (P < 0.05) in increasing of the eosinophilia 16.22%  ± 4.03% compared with that non-affected ones (10.54 ± 4.56).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas alat Harness dan Crayon yang digunakan sebagai alat diagnosis kebuntingan dini pada kambing peranakan Etawah (Capra hircus). Penelitian ini menggunakan 10 ekor kambing betina dalam masa laktasi dengan berat badan rata-rata 30 kg dan kisaran umur 2-2,5 tahun dan 1 ekor kambing jantan dengan berat badan sekitar 70 kg dan kisaran umur 4-4,5 tahun. Sepuluh ekor kambing betina pada penelitian ini dikawinkan secara alami dengan 1 ekor kambing jantan yang sudah dikenakan Harness dan Crayon selama 30 hari periode kawin. Diagnosis kebuntingan dini menggunakan Harness dan Crayon dilakukan pada hari ke 18-22 setelah perkawinan. Akurasi diagnosis kebuntingan dini dengan Harness dan Crayon dikonfirmasi menggunakan alat Ultrasonography (USG) pada hari ke-35 setelah perkawinan. Tujuh dari sepuluh ekor kambing betina mengalami kawin alami yang ditandai adanya warna Crayon pada punggungnya. Hasil diagnosis kebuntingan dini menggunakan Harness dan Crayon mencapai 100% (7 ekor kambing betina tidak kawin kembali) selama 5 hari pengamatan tidak kembali berahi (Non-Return to Estrous Rate). Tingkat akurasi diagnosis kebuntingan dini dengan Harness dan Crayon menurun menjadi 85,7% setelah dikonfirmasi status kebuntingan kambing dengan alat USG. Alat Harness dan Crayon memiliki tingkat akurasi yang tinggi sebagai penetapan status positif bunting pada kambing betina peranakan Etawah. Kata kunci: Kambing PE (Capra hircus), Harness dan Crayon, Ultrasonography (USG).ABSTRACT             This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of harness and crayon as an early pregnancy diagnosis tool for Etawah cross goat (Capra hircus). This study used 10 lactating female goats with average weight was 30 kgs and the ages ranging from 2-2.5 years old and one male goat with weight of 70 kgs and the age of 4-4.5 years old. Ten female goats in this study were mated naturally with the male goat, while wearing harness and crayon during 30 days of mating period. Pregnancy diagnosis was carried out on days 18-22 postservice. Seven out of ten female goats were marked with crayon on their backsas on indication of mating. Pregnancy status was subsequently confirmed through USG on day 35 after mating. Early pregnancy diagnosis using harness and crayon showed 100% NRR. Accuracy of harness and crayon as pregnancy diagnosis tool decreased until 85.7% following USG confirmation. The harness and crayon has a high accuracy rate for early pregnancy diagnosis means for pregnantly status in etawah goats. Keyword: Etawah cross goat (Capra hircus), harness and crayon, ultrasonography (USG).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh paparan timbal  terhadap histopatologis hati ikan nila (Oreochromis nilloticus).Penelitian ini menggunakan ikan nila sebanyak 12 ekor dengan kriteria: sehat; bobot badan 10 – 20 gram; umur ± 2 bulan; jenis kelamin jantan.Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan 4 kelompok perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Semua kelompok diberikan pakan pelet yang diberikan setiap hari. Kelompok P0 sebagai kontrol, ikan hanya diberi pakan pelet, P1 diberikan paparan timbal 6,26 mg/l, P2 diberikan paparan timbal 12,53 mg/l dan P3 diberikan paparan timbal 25,06 mg/l.Perlakuan dilakukan selama 30 hari dan ikan dietanasi pada hari ke-31. Hasil menunjukan rata-rata (± SD) jumlah sel-sel hepatosit hati pada ikan  yang mengalami degenerasi P0 (0,93 ± 0,61); P1 (18,73 ± 4,95); P2 (22,33 ± 4,57);dan P3 (44,80 ± 5,20); dan nekrosis P0 (0,73 ± 0,50); P1 (8,53 ± 2,50); P2 (8,93 ± 0,83); dan P3 (16,73 ± 2,00). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa paparan timbal dengan dosis 25,06 mg/l menyebabkan kerusakan degenerasi dan nekrosis yang berat secara histopatologis pada sel hepatosit hati ikan nila (Oreochromis nilloticus).ABSTRACT The aims of this research was to find out to determine the level of lead (Pb) concentration that affect the rate of growth tilapia fish (Oreochromis nilloticus). This study used twelve tilapia fish with criteria: healthy; body weight 10-20 gram; age ± 2 month; male sex. The research was designedby a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 unidirectional patterngroup treatments and three reins. All groups are given pellet feed given daily. GroupP0 as control, fish fed only pellets, P1 is given lead exposure 6,26 mg/l, P2 is given lead exposure 12,53 mg/l and P3 is given lead exposure 25,06 mg/l. Treatment carried out for 30 days andfish were euthanized on day 31. The statistical analysis showed that the average (± SD) number of hepatocyte liver cells in fish with degeneration wereP0 (0.93 ± 0.61), P1 (18.73 ± 4.95), P2 (22.33 ± 4.57), and P3 (44.80 ± 5.20), and necrosis were P0 (0.73 ± 0.50), P1 (8.53 ± 2.50), P2 (8.93 ± 0.83), and P3 (16.73 ± 2.00). From the results of the study can be concluded lead exposure with dose 25,06 mg/l cause damage degeneration and necrosis which is heavily histopatological in hepatocytes cell of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis nilloticus) liver.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui struktur histologi kulit ikan belut sawah. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kulit bagian dorsal dan abdomen dari dua ekor belut sawah, diamati dengan menggunakan metode histologi eksplorasi. Pengamatan dilakukan setelah pembuatan preparat histologi yang diwarnai dengan Hematoksilin-eosin (HE) dan Masson trichrome. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur histologi kulit ikan belut sawah terdiri atas tiga lapisan. Lapisan epidermis yang tersusun atas sel-sel epitel pipih berlapis, sel mukus/sel goblet, dan stratum germinativum. Lapisan dermis terdiri dari sel pigmen, stratum laxum (spongiosum) dengan serabut kolagen longgar dan stratum compactum dengan serabut kolagen padat. Lapisan hipodermis terdiri dari sel lemak, serabut kolagen, dan pembuluh darah. Secara umum struktur histologi kulit belut sawah sama dengan ikan air tawar pada umumnya, terdapat perbedaan ketebalan lapisan dan bentuk sel mukus antara kulit dorsal dan abdomen kulit belut sawah. (This research aims to determine the histological structure of rice eels. The sample used is the skin of the dorsal and abdominal and then observed using histologcal  exploratory method. Observations were made after the preparation of histologic preparations stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson trichrome. The results showed that the histology structure of the rice eels consists of three layers. Epidermal layers composed of squamous cells, mucus / goblet cells, and stratum germinativum. The dermis layer consists of pigment cells, stratum laxum (spongiosum) with loose collagen fibers and stratum compactum with solid collagen fiber. The hypodermic layer consists of fat cells, collagen fibers, and blood vessel. In general the structure of rice field eel skin histology identical with freshwater fish in General, there is a difference in thickness of the layers and the shape of the dorsal skin mucous cells between the abdominal skin an eel and rice fields.)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui gambaran histologi dari esofagus, lambung dan usus ikan garing (Tor tambroides) yang hidup di Sungai Jorong Ikan Banyak, Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan organ esofagus, lambung dan usus dari tiga ekor ikan garing kemudian diproses secara histoteknik dengan pewarnaan Hematoksilin Eosin (HE) kemudian diamati menggunakan mikroskop digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa saluran pencernaan ikan garing terdiri dari empat lapisan yaitu tunika mukosa, submukosa, muskularis dan serosa. Mukosa esofagus ikan garing terdiri atas epitel silindris selapis dan terdapat sel-sel mukosit. Tunika submukosa tidak dijumpai adanya kelenjar esophagial. Tunika muskularis terdiri dari otot sirkuler. Mukosa proventrikulus terdiri atas epitel silindris selapis, terdapat limfonodus pada lamina propria. Tunika muskularis terdiri dari otot sirkuler. Mukosa usus terdiri atas epitel silindris selapis dan ditemukan sel goblet yang bertambah banyak jumlahnya menuju usus distal. Tunika muskularis tersusun dari otot sirkuler. Secara umum struktur histologi dinding esofagus, lambung, dan usus ikan garing hampir sama dengan ikan lainnya yang sejenis. Perbedaan hanya ditemukan pada tunika muskularis.(The aim of this study was to investigate the histological structure of the oesophagus, ventriculus and intestines of garing fish (Tor tambroides) that lives in the Jorong Ikan Banyak River, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatera Province. Specimens for histological examination were collected from the oesophagus, ventriculus, and intestinal of three garing fish, then processed using histotechnik and stained in Hematoxilin and Eosin (HE) and then observed under light microscope. The result showed that digestive tract of garing fish is composed of four layers which are tunica mucosa, submucosa,  muscularis and  serosa. Oesophagus mucosa in garing fish was composed of  simple columnar epithelia and many mucosit sel. Oesophagial gland was not found in tunica submucosa. Tunica muscularis was composed of circular muscle. Proventriculus mucosa consisted of simple columnar epithelia, are limphonodus on the lamina propria. Tunica muscularis shaped circular muscle. Intestinal mucosa was composed of simple columnar epithelium with goblet cells that high number to distal intestine. Tunica muscularis was composed of circular muscle. Generally, histological structure of oeshophagus, ventruculus and intestinum on garing fish almost similiar to other fishes. The significant  difference is found in tunica muscularis.)
