Abstract

Widodo et al, 2019. Social Economic Studies of Several New Superior Rice Varieties on Sub-Optimal Area in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. pp. 456-464. This research aimed to analyze social economic studies of several new superior rice varieties on sub-optimal area in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Social Economic studies on several new rice superior varieties on sub-optimal area has been implemented in “Gabungan Kelompok Tani Kumpul Makaryo, Nglanggeran, Patuk, Gunungkidul Yogyakarta from February to June 2018. New superior rice  varieties such as  Inpago 5, Inpago 8, Inpago 10, Inpari 42 Agritan GSR, Inpari 43 Agritan GSR and a check variety namely Ciherang were used in this study. Economic data input and output were analyzed for it’s feasibility of farming (B/C ratio). Organoleptic tests carried out by the level of preference as much as 25 repondens.Variabel panelists assessed texture / kepulenan, flavor, aroma, color and joy in general. Data indicated that those new five superior rice varieties feasible to develop proven B / C ratio ranged from 2.02 for Inpari 43 GSR to 2.90 for Inpari 42 GSR. Meanwhile, Ciherang as a populair variety gave B/C ratio only 1.88 . The most preferred taste of rice was Inpari 42 GSR and Inpago 5. While the productivity of the most preferred were Inpari 42 GSR and Inpago 10. It was suggested that those new rice superior varieties above mentioned must be developed in rainfed areas other than Nglanggeran-Patuk, to achieve increasing rice production in Gunungkidul dry land.

Abstract

The Application of Biochar and Biofertilizer for Improving Rainfed Lowland and Rice Productivity on Gunungkidul Regency. pp. 206-215.Managing land resources and improving soil quality are currently urgent and very important for the sustainability of the next generations. Improvements in the quality of rainfed rice fields can be carried out, among others, by application of biofertilizers and biochar. Biofertilizer is a group of living organisms whose activities can improve soil fertility. Biochar is a solid material obtained from the carbonization process of a biomass of agricultural or plantation waste.  The objective of this research was to study the effect of biofertilizer and biochar on availability of N, P, K and C-organic and rice production. The assessment of the application of biological and biochar fertilizers was carried out in the rainfed rice fields of Wareng village, Wonosari district - Gunungkidul regency. The time of implementation was planting season II (February-June 2017) with the treatments: (A) Control (without biological fertilizer and biochar) +100% chemical recommendations fertilizer (Urea 175 kg / ha + NPK 235 kg / ha), (B) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrimeth) 400 gr / ha, without biochar + 100% chemical recommendations fertilizer (C) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrimeth, without biochar and 50% chemical recommendations fertilizer (D) Application biochar rice husk charcoal 2.0 tons /ha, without biological fertilizer and chemical fertilizer 100% recommendation, (E) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrimeth), and biochar 2 t / ha + 100% chemical recommendations fertilizer (F) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrimeth), and biochar 2 t/ha and 50% chemical recommendation fertilizer. Each treatment was repeated 4 times with the farmer as a replication. The experimental design used RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with 4 times replications. The size of the plot followed the size of farmer ownership (On Farm Reserach). The research was shown that the application of Agrimeth biofertilizers and biochar of rice husk charcoal about 2 ton / ha gives a significant effect on the increase of  Milled Rice  production compared to without biofertilizer and biochar. The reduction of inorganic fertilizers by 50% Ponska has no significant effect with the application of 100% recommended  chemical fertilizers if added with the application of Agrimeth and biochar as much as 2 tons / ha. This indicates that the application of Agrimeth biofertilizer on rainfed lowland rice can increase NPK nutrient uptake while the application of rice husk biochar can increase the C-organic content and stimulate the biological activity of paddy soil and reduce the use of NPK inorganic fertilizers. The availability of NPK elements after application with rice husk biochar and Agrimeth biofertilizer showed that the total N content increased by 22.17%, available P and available K increased by 30.19% and 40.09% respectively compared to controls (treatment of local Farmers ) Likewise, the yield of Milled Rice (MRY) increased with the application of a of biochar and biofertilizer by 37.98%, whereas with a single application (only biochar or biofertilizers) only increased between 14.22-20.16% compared to treatment control.

Biofertilizer is a group of living organisms whose activities can improve soil fertility. Biochar is a solid material obtained from the carbonization process of a biomass of agricultural or plantation waste. Biochar is a porous, high-carbon solid substance of more than 50%. The assessment of application biological fertilizers and biochar were carried out in Polaman, Wareng village, Wonosari district-Gunungkidul. The time of implementation in planting season III (June-September 2018) with the treatment as stated: (A) Control (without biological fertilizer and biochar) + 100% chemical fertilizer according to recommendation (325 kg/ha Urea, Phonska NPK 300 kg/ha), (B) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrofit) 400 g/ha, without biochar + 100% chemical fertilizer (C) Application of Biofertilizer (Agrofi), without biochar and 75% chemical fertilizer according to recommendation, (D) Application of rice husk biochar 2.0 tons/ha, + Agrofit biofertilizers and 100% chemical fertilizer (E) Application of Biofertilizers (Agrofit), and biochar 2 tons/ha + 75% chemical fertilizer. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Irrigation utilizes were used 2 existing borehole wells and support by submersible pumps which are carried out in rotation on each cooperator farmer's land. The discharge of water in its well is 2.5 liters/second. The observation of maize growth plants at 20 DAP and 40  DAP and 60 DAP were shown that the treatmen B and D was the highest result in corn plant height and the amount of leaves compare to the others. While the yield of shelled corn showed that the combination of treatment with biochar application 2 tons/ha and agrofit biofertilizers+75% chemical fertilizer and application of biochar 2 tons/ha and 400 g/ha agrofit + 100% chemical fertilizer recommendation shows that the results are not significantly different, so it can be recommended that application biological fertilizers and biochar be able to save 25% chemical fertilizer. This treatment shown  that was better results than control (farmer treatment) and treatment only giving biochar or biological fertilizers in single application.Keywords: biological fertilizers, biochar, corn productivity, land quality, rainfed rice fields
