Abstract

Latarbelakang&tujuan - Diperkirakan saat ini di Indonesia ada 500.000 penduduk yang terkena stroke. Dari jumlah tersebut, sepertiganya bisa pulih kembali, sepertiga lainnya mengalami gangguan fungsional ringan sampai sedang dan sepertiga sisanya mengalami gangguan fungsional berat yang mengharuskan penderita terus menerus di kasur. Pada kondisi yang seperti ini pengukuran kualitas hidup pada pasien strok fase rehabilitasi menjadi sangat penting diperhatikan. Metoda - Penelitian deskriptif korelasi dengan rancangan crossesctional dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran kualitas hidup (quality of life) dari penderita strok fase rehabilitasi di kota Semarang, dan mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dan pendidikan dengan kualitas hidup pasien strok fase rehabilitasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua penderita strok fase rehabilitasi yang ada di kota Semarang. Sebanyak 65 penderita stroke fase rehabilitasi yang tinggal di kota Semarang digunakan sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini (lotal sampling);- Analisa yang digunkan adalah dengan analisa univariat untuk menggambarkan kualitas hidup penderita strok fase rehabilitasi dengan distribusi frekuensi. dan prosentase, dan analisis bivariat untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dan pendidikan dengan kualitas hidup penderita strok fase rehabilitasi menggunakal uji rank Spearman. Hasil - Kualitas hidup penderita strok fase rehabilitasi di kota Semarang sebagian besar mengalami gangguan pada aspek energy, peran, mobilitas, kepribadian, peran sosial, dan fungsi anggota gerak atas. Sedangkan aspek yang tidak mengalami kesulitan ataugangguan adalah aspek bahasa, suasana hati, perawatan dini, berpikir, penglihatan, pekerjaan/ produktifitas, dan spiritual. Dukungan keluarga yang diberikan lebih banyak pada dukungan instrumental dan informasi. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan tidak adanya hubungan antara dukungan leluarga dengan kualitas hidup pasien strok fase rehabilitasi (p =0,728) demikian halnya dengan pendidikan dengan kualitas hidup pasien strok fase rehabilitasi di kota Sernarang (p= 0,751). Simpulan & Saran - Disarankan untuk dilakukan penelitian lebih mendalam mencakup jumlah sampel yang lebih besai, cakupan wilayah yang lebih luas, dan perlunya penyediaan buku panduan (buku saku) tentang kualitas hidup bagi penderita strok dan keluarganya. Abstract

ntroduction: Cytokines have the capability to influence the polarization of immune system. Transplacental transfer of cytokines is postulated to influence the development of fetal immune system. This study aims to assess any transfer of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines as well as to evaluate the capacity of cytokines production by the umbilical blood immune cells.Methods: Total IgG4 and IgE antibodies were measured through Enzyme Linkage Immunoabsorbance Assay (ELISA). Cytokines analysis was performed on the supernatant produced by blood culture which had previously been stimulated with PHA and PPD. The mean fluorescence intensity of each cytokine was then measured using Luminex IS100.Results: Significant positive correlation was obtained for both anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-10 (r=0.41, p=0.02) and IL-5 (r=0.53, p=0.01) between the maternal and umbilical-cord blood. The ratio of IL10/IFNg in umbilical-cord blood is negatively correlated (r=-0.42, r=0.03) with the total IFNg production by the umbilical immune cells which were previously stimulated with PPD antigen. Conclusion: This study demonstrates transplacental transfer of cytokines. As the ratio of IL10/ IFNg in the umbilical blood gets higher, the capability of umbilical immune cells to produce IFNg on PPD-antigen stimulation gets lower. Abstract

House dust mite (HDMs) may be found in urban dwelling and the existence of HDMs is influenced by temperature and relative humidity. The aim of the study was to evaluate the temperature and relative humidity effect the existence of HDM in Pamulang and Jakarta. There were 52 house dust samples from Pamulang and 44 from Jakarta examined by direct method using microscope to detect HDM in the dust samples. The temperature and relative humidity in the house were examined by thermohygrometer. The collecting of the samples was conducted 3 times with 2 weeks interval time. The species of HDM found were Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, D.farinae, and Glyciphagus destructor. Statistically, the existence of HDM in 30-35oC was not significant different from that in < 30oC in both Pamulang and Jakarta (p<0.05). In contrast, the existence of HDM in relative humidity, 60-70%, was significant different from that in <60% in both Pamulang and Jakarta (p<0.05), especially in third sample collecting. It can be concluded that the existence of HDM was influenced by relative humidity, but not temperature in urban dwelling.

Abstract

Surra in livestock is caused by Trypanosoma evansi, a homoflagella blood protozoa that circulate in extracellular. This disease is widespread in Asia, Africa, South and Central America. According to the immunological aspect, the severity of surra in livestock and mice which infected by trypanosoma is associated with an inflammatory response. On the other hand, the survival time of mice depends on the regulation of Th1 synthesis and proinflammatory cytokines such as IFN-γ and TNF-α. The aim of this study was to observe the responses of proinflammatory cytokines IFN γ, TNF-α and anti-inflammatory IL-10 which result from interaction with parasites. This information is needed for improvements in the management of prevention of Surra in animals. A total of 30 mice were divided into 3 groups. The group was infected with a low virulency T. evansi (Pml287); high virulence (Bang87) respectively and one group was not infected as control. Mice sera were collected in every 4 days for cytokine measurement using an Enzyme Link-Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The result showed a difference response of proinflammatory and antiinflammation cytokine profile between the infected mice by isolates Bang 87 and Pml 287. Early deaths in mice infected by Bang 87 isolate were suspected as a result of the response of systemic inflammation syndromes characterized by elevated IFN-γ levels that were not adequately compensated by anti-inflammatory. Anemia contributes to the cause of death in mice that support multiple organ failures (multiple organ disfunction).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperbaiki efisiensi proses karburising pada baja karbon rendah melalui pemakaian arang tempurung kelapa secara berulang sebagai karburiser. Arang tempurung kelapa dengan ukuran 30 mesh digunakan  untuk lima kali proses karburising  secara berulang.  Benda  uji dari baja karbon rendah diletakkan dalam kotak karburising dari pipa baja diameter 50 mm tebal dinding 2 mm. Tiap proses karburising padat dilakukan dalam dapur pemanas selama 4 jam. Pengaruh pemakaian arang tempurung kelapa secara berulang pada   proses karburising padat dianalisis berdasar hasil uji kekerasan permukaan, case depth dan pengamatan struktur mikro. Case depth optimal setebal 300 urn terbentuk pada proses karburising menggunakan serbuk arang tempurung kelapa yang telah dipakai 2 kali proses. Arang tempurung  kelapa masih layak digunakan  sampai 4 kali proses karburising dengan kekerasan permukaan masih mencapai 642 VHN.   Kata kunci: arang tempurung kalapa, karburising padat, baja karbon rendah

Abstract

Complicated  distortion always happens  in metal melting  and freezing  process  on welding.  Up to now,   the   common   method   to   reduce   distortion   are:   base   metal  preheating,    heat   input minimalization,  welding process  sequence,  etc. the last has been used by welders,  however  the sequence oj best effectivity and efficiency has not been yet studied. This research  aims  to know  effect  oj welding process  sequence  by studied 5 different  welding route  related  to angle  distortion (a),  bending  distortion  (B), cross  distortion  (I1L) and  axial distortion (I1P). Welding process used shielded metal arc welding,  base  metal  oj ST 37 and electrode  oj E6013; 2.6 mm and 3.2 mm oj diameter. Four kinds of test used angle gauge oJO.l ° precision  and caliper oj 0.05 mm precision. Based  on the test, it could be known that the lowest angle distortion  took place  on 3 times route that was 3.070,      while  the highest  happened  at 5 times route method  that was 9.230.      the lowest bending distortion  took place  on 1 and 3 times route that ware 1.50 mm and 1.52, respectively, while the highest happened at 5 times route method that was 4.70 mm. Cross distortion and angle distortion  tended  to have lowest distortion  at 3 times route, while  axial distortion  and bending distortion  at 1 and 3 times routes. All that kinds oj distortion had the lowest value at 3 times route which was the best welding route at sheet metal oj 5 mm thickness.   Keywords: welding sequence, SMAW, distortion

Abstract

Many local companies were that engaged in the manufacturing of coffee beans into semi-finished carelessly ready for export. To maintain the product to fit customer demand, it is very necessary quality control. The problems are the following: (1) The destruction of coffee still within the limits of control or not. (2) Any type of damage that occurs in coffee product were produced. (3) The factors that cause damage to the coffee product. (4) Application of statistical tools in controlling product quality coffee and pressing the occurrence of damage to the product. This study aims to determine how the implementation of quality control using statistical tools useful in efforts to control the level of damage to the product in the company. P control chart analysis results indicate that the process is in a state of uncontrolled or still experiencing irregularities. Based on Pareto diagram, priority repairs that need to be done is for the dominant type of damage that the black seed (25.68%), broken seeds (19.23%), brown seeds (17.60%) and more than a hollow seeds (15.99%). the causal diagram analysis can be seen from the factors that cause damage to human factors/workers, machine production, work methods, materials/raw materials and the work environment, so the company can take precautions and repair the damage.

Abstract

Background: Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is a tumor-associated Ag that has a function in both ontogenic and oncogenic growth and its serum level is elevated in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A recent study showed that the immunoregulatory effect of AFP was through impairment of dendritic cell function as antigen presenting cell (APC), a mechanism that is known to hamper efficient antitumor response. However, the underlying intracellular mechanism of action of AFP required elucidation. As an initial step to determine the signaling pathway of AFP, we analyzed whether LPS induced NF-κB translocation occured in AFP-treated monocyte-derived dendritic cell (MDDC), which was induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).Methods: Monocytes were cultured in GM-CSF (800 ng/mL) and IL-4 (1000 ng/mL) containing medium and incubated for six days to generate immature MDDCs with or without the presence of AFP. Mature MDDC was generated by stimulation of the immature MDDC with LPS for another 30 minutes. The analysis of NF-κB translocation was measured by fluorescent microscopy.Results: Following activation of MDDC by LPS, the control group showed a marked nuclear staining of NF-κB. However, the AFP-treated group showed negative nuclear staining similar as observed in unactivated MDDC.Conclusion: This study demonstrated that AFP prevented the activation and nuclear translocation of NF-κB and subsequently might cause the impairment of MDDC function as APC. This finding provides a new insight on the role of AFP in the suppression mechanism of anti tumor immune response.
