Abstract

This research was aimed to detect effectiveness of microorganism to increase growth of Artocarpus communis in peat soil. The peat soil came from countryside of Sei Toras, District Panai Tengah, and District Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra Province. Activators tested were Aspergillus sp., EM4, MOD-71, Supernasa and Puja-168. The research was done at Faculty of Agriculture, the University of North Sumatera from February to April 2009. Application of Aspergillus sp. Increased plant height (31.24%), stem diameter (2.84%) and leaf area (63%). Compared to control treatment, the application of Aspergillus sp. increased available P 49%, K 34%, and Ca 45%, however level of total N decreased by 17%.   Keywords: Aspergillus sp., decomposer, nutrient availability, Effective Microorganism, bioactivator

Abstract

Up to now, montane rain forest of Gunung Gede-Pangrango National Park, faces problem in the form of invasion of exotic plant species into the area.  Location of the area that borders with various land uses, such as Botanical Garden and agricultural land, make it very susceptible toward invasion of plant species from outside the area.  The collapse of large trees which normally constitute a mechanism of natural regeneration, was in fact stimulating the development of exotic species, particularly those which were invasive, inside the area. The objective of this research was to test the competitive ability of endemic species, which in this case was represented by Cleystocalyx operculata and Mischocarpus pentapetalus, toward exotic plant species, represented by Austroeupatoriun inulaefolium and Passiflora ligularis, during 5 months of study.  Growth rate of exotic plant species, as well as the dry weight biomass, were larger than those of endemic species.  Indirect estimation of competitive ability showed that competitive ability (β) of endemic species were 4-5 times less, namely 0.0274 (for C. operculata) and 0.0251 (for M. pentapetalus); as compared with those of exotic species, namely 0.125 (for P. ligularis) and 0.1104 (for A. inulaefolium).  Direct test also proved that competitive ability (β) of endemic species was lower than that of exotic species, as shown by relative crowding value < 1.  Estimation of future competitive ability, using diagram of input/ output ratio, showed also the disability of endemic species to compete with exotic species, where position of input/output ratio points were parallel with equilibrium line y=x. Considering those facts, there is urgent need for controlling these invasive exotic species inside the National Park area to maintain the sustainability of biodiversity and regeneration of endemic species in montane rain forest of Gunung Gede–Pangrango National Park.    Keywords: endemic, exotic, invasion, competitive ability, regeneration

Abstract

Government’s report on achievement of MDGs in Indonesia until 2002 reflects commitment towards people’s welfare. Health area as explained in indicators of goals 4, 5, and 6 were reported as improved. This review examines achievement status, elucidates background explanation about those achievement status, and assesses prospect of MDG achievement, particularly in health area. The review shows that most of MDG’s health indicators improved but in a slow manner. Funding is still posed as the main constraint of health care of those who needed it. Eradication program of infectious and contagious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB faces many hurdles. Malaria and TB prevalences are still high while HIV/AIDS epidemic in several areas has shown infiltration and spread among low socio-economic population groups. This situation reflects a not very good prognostic of MDG achievement in Indonesia. The main challenge of MDG achievement in health area in Indonesia is related to question on how the government could translate commitment and effective intervention policy into routine health care program that directly touch the people, especially those who need most, the poor. Abstract

Abstrak   Teknologi sel femto pada LTE (Long Term Evolution) dapat meningkatkan kualitas sinyal di dalam ruangan karena penempatan stasiun pemancar sel femto yang berada di dalam ruangan. Dengan berkurangnya jarak antara stasiun pemancar, dalam hal ini yaitu FAP (Femtocell Access Point) dengan UE (User Equipment) maka kualitas sinyal di dalam ruangan diharapkan membaik. Namun, dengan digunakannya sel femto, timbul fenomena interferens antara sel makro dan sel femto, juga interferens antar sel femto.Kualitas sinyal (SINR) pada pengguna (downlink) baik dari sel femto atau sel makro akan dikaji berdasarkan perhitungan link budget dengan memperhitungkan fenomena interferens yang mungkin terjadi menggunakan perangkat lunak LabView2009. Dari hasil simulasi rugi propagasi indoor sel femto  memiliki nilai yang lebih rendah dari sel makro sebesar  85,8137dB sedangkan sel makro 144,4035dB. Nilai SINR sel femto downlink ketika tidak ada pengaruh dari sel makro, nilai SINR maksimum adalah 36,0838 dB dan nilai SINR terkecil adalah 20,0865 dB dan ketika terdapat sebuah sel makro dan FAP yang melayani pengguna berada di ruang lingkup sel makro tersebut maka nilai SINR terbesar menjadi hanya 23,3947 dB sedangkan SINR terkecil adalah 20,0863dB.   Kata kunci: femtocell, LTE, link budget, interferens, SINR. Abstract Femtocell LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology can increase signal coverage at indoor environment because the deployment of the femtocell base station is in the building. With a distance reducement between a femtocell base station (usually called FAP, Femtocell Access Point) with a user equipment (UE), the signal quality hopefully will be better. But, the deployment of femtocell emerges interference phenomenon between macrocell and femtocell, also interference between femtocells itself.Quality cues (SINR) at the user (downlink) from both femto cell or macro cell will be assessed by taking into account the link budget calculation possible interference phenomena using software LabView2009. From the results of simulations of indoor propagation loss femto cells have a lower value than the macro cells at 85.8137 144.4035 dB dB while the macro cell. Value SINR downlink femto cell when there is no influence of the macro cell, the maximum value is 36.0838 dB SINR and SINR value and the smallest is 20.0865 dB when there is a macro cell and FAP serving users are in the scope of the macro cell, the value SINR largest being only 23.3947 dB while the smallest SINR is 20.0863 dB.   Keywords: femtocell, LTE, link budget, interfernce, SINR.

Abstract

Budi Utomo, in this paper explain that offshore drilling carried out to obtain crude oil through the oil wells. The means that must exist in the operation of offshore drilling is a bridge structure (plate form) as a place to put the drilling equipment. Known two kinds of platforms, that is platforms permanent (fixed) which stands on the feet of reinforced concrete, and the bridge is not fixed like swamp barges, drilling ship (floaters) and jack-up rig. Jack up rig is one of the offshore rigs that have the ability to elevation in accordance with a sea depth of drilling. Drilling equipment is a range of equipment that is prepared in such a way, so that such a drill rod, and all this equipment has a hole inside that allows for fluid or mud circulation.   Key word: Drilling equipment

Abstract

Every ship building to the after constructed should be done sea trial, it is intended to find out all machinery andequipment in the ship to run well and deserve to normal weather conditions in accordance with the plan. Themain purpose of this study is to know the performance of steering ship MV. SIRENA in sea trial on new ship,because in the operation of a vessel, the steering has a very important role is to ship control or shipmanouvering. After doing sea trial produced several motion graphics board. To ship left spinning PS tacticaldiameter DT = 114,4120 meter and advance = 157,3716 meter, while rotating to the right to ship SB tacticaldiameter DT = 120,9048 meter and advance = 161,9024 meter. There is a difference of 120,9048 &ndash; 114,4120 =6,4928 meter in tactical diameter for PS, and 161, 9024 - 157, 3716 = 4,5308 meter in advance, which meansthat the ship sailed round the larger right and left to right, this is due to spin the propeller rotation is right theship sailed toward him continue in the direction of nuts bolts, steering performance of the experimental results ofthe MV. SIRENA after the sea trial, then matched with the demand for ship owners and ship classificationagency, the steering performance of the new ship MV SIRENA can run well which means it can be accepte,because The resulting DT = 6,4928 meter still within the recommended limit is within their rules that is DT =3,45 - 7,50 meter.

Abstract

Ventilation in ships is a process substitute dirty air in a hold of ship with fresh air from outside. If meansfor keep air in compartment always clean or fresh to make people comfort and to limit influence destructionpart of ship also rattenness of cargo that caused by too high dampness of the air.Ventilation system in ships differences two kind, that are natural ventilation system and mechanicalventilation system.Natural ventilation principles uses movement or flow of natural air, for example there are wind or air flowthat caused by symptom of air rising because temperature different. Where as on mechanical ventilationsystem the principles same with natural ventilation system, but air movement helped by ventilator oranother similar tools that rotation in the tube.

Abstract

Dewasa ini banyak sekali kerusakan yang diakibatkan oleh korosi terutama dibidang inndustri khususnya industri perkapalan. Banyak sekali kerugian yang diakibatkan oleh korosi sehingga perusahaan perlu mengeluarkan biaya extra untuk memperbaki peralatan yang mengalami kerusakan akibat korosi. Biasanya korosi terjadi pada pipa, paku, penyangga &ndash; pengangga tanki, tanki dll. Jenis korosi yang biasa terjadi pada bidang industri : uniform attack ( korosi merata), galvanic corrosion (korosi galvanis), crevice corrosion (korosi celah), pitting corrosion ( korosi sumur), intergaranular corrosion ( korosi antar butir ), selective corrosion ( korosi pisah ), erosion corrosion ( korosi erosi ), stress corrosion ( korosi tekanan ), fatique corrosion ( korosi lelah ), biological corrosion.

Abstract

Budi Utomo, in paper sea chest: its role as suction hole sea water supply at boat exploitation explain that on the steel ships or wooden ships that have inboard engine installation, use sea chest must needed. Sea chest has function as hole suction sea water to fullfill the need of the ship on its exploitation. Usually sea chest put surrounding engine room with seawater system that need, such cooling water system, cooling lubricating system in main engine and auxiliary engine, ballast system of the ship, fire extinguisher system etc.Installing sea chest put on two place that have differrent height, because variation of the deep waters that trought and must considered that sea chest still have function as hole suction sea water well, although situation of the ship asland until 22,5 degrees from vertical situation sea chest still work well and not absorb the air.Key word : Sea chest and Sea water system
