Abstract

Since a database administrator is not always be in a fix place, we need something that make it possible for the administrator to manage the database anywhere. A Mobile SQL technology is flexible enough for an administrator to do this maintenance job immediately, such as for query operation, and database recovery. Our goal is to develop such application using Java ME and Servlet technology, thus making it runs on every mobile device that has MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.1, and GPRS enabled device. While on a server computer, it needs web server and a DBMS. For this purpose, an object-oriented DBMS Postgre has been choosen. The main features of this application are: executing SQL queries; creating tables and users; making database backup and recovery; creating and executing SQL procedural language – PL/pgSQL; and sending a log through email. This application will also notify another adminstrator through email for any changes that has been made in the database Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Mobile SQL adalah alat administrasi basisdata PostgreSQL berbasis mobile menggunakan koneksi HTTP. Teknologi mobile yang bersifat fleksibel membuat administrator dapat segera melakukan perawatan basisdata jika diperlukan tanpa harus berada di lokasi server. Pengembangan aplikasi menggunakan teknologi Java ME dan Servlet, serta dapat dijalankan menggunakan telepon seluler sebagai klien dengan spesifikasi MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.1 dan GPRS yang telah diaktifkan, sedangkan untuk komputer server diperlukan web server dan DBMS. Fitur utama pada aplikasi ini antara lain: menjalankan perintah SQL, membuat tabel dan pengguna, melakukan backup dan recovery basisdata, menulis dan menjalankan bahasa prosedural SQL - PL/pgSQL, serta mengirim log melalui email. Aplikasi Mobile SQL dapat digunakan untuk melakukan administrasi basisdata menggunakan telepon seluler. Kata kunci: Mobile SQL, Java ME, DBMS, administrasi basisdata

Abstract

Despite media hype and pressure from software vendors, corporate IT departments have yet to consider the concept of a truly mobile enterprise. According to Forrester Research, 36 percent of companies surveyed reported that uncertainty about the appropriate mobile device has kept them from implementing a corporate solution. Other concerns, such as network problems, lack of industry, corporate standards, device utility and learning issues also include in the list. However, the widespread adoption of mobile devices and applications has confirmed that the many tools now available are fully up to complete the task. In this article will be discussed an approach to evaluate the mobile strategy readiness of a corporation and how making content mobile.

Abstract

Mobile solutions can be built in many different ways, used on many different devices, operate over many different networks, and integrate with many different back-end systems. The task of building a mobile solution can often be confusing given the many technology choices and implementation approaches. This paper explores smart and thin client architectures that have been successfully used by enterprises to build mobile solutions with new technologies in database management systems and different programming languages. The paper will also explore the differences between smart client and thin client mobile architectures, and when people would want to use each. It will then examine the details of common smart client architectures, including what type of back-end systems they integrate with, the types of devices they support, how data is managed within the architecture, and development languages that can be used to build the application.

Abstract

Big-two card game, is one of well-known card climbing games which probably originated in coastal China around 1980. Soon it became very popular in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and also in the Philippines and Singapore; it has also spread to some western countries. In climbing games, each player in turn must play a higher card (or combination of cards) than the previous player. A player who cannot or does not wish to beat the previous play can pass. This continues for as many rounds as necessary until someone makes a play which no one will beat. That player wins the "trick" and leads to another one. Because players can pass, their cards are not used at an equal rate and some will run out before others. This kind of strategy produces an imperfect information environment. In this article will be reported how the Big Two card game is implemented in computer with the application of Minimax Algorithm, to predict the information, i.e. the value of cards in hand, for the next player who has the turn to minimize the card “value” of the other players.

Abstract

The main aim of this application is to assist customers who wants to place a sales order via a web based  system without going  to  the  factory. Customer who wants  to place an order can access  the web application  via a  computer or a mobile device. This application uses Case Based Reasoning method and Weighted Euclidean Distance algorithm. The purpose of  using  Case  Based  Reasoning  and Weighted  Euclidean Distance  algorithm  is  that  the system can give how  long an order can be done according to some similar cases  that has been stored in the history database.

Abstract

Parents are regularly facing difficulties identifying their childrens’ psychological situation. Based on that fact, an expert system has been developed. This expert system consists of two applications, mobile and web application. The main features of this systems are knowledge acquisition  and  consultation  capabilities.  The  system  will  give  indications  of  childrens’ emotion  development  along  with  how  to  handle  it.  The  knowledge  base,  rules,  and confidential  factors  have  been  verified  by  an  expert  psychologist.  The  rules  are implemented  in  a  database.  This  expert  system  has  been  evaluated  by  blackbox methodology  to  twenty parents who have  children,  and  also psychologist  as  expert. From the  evaluation,  a  final  conclusion  can  be  written  that  is  the  system  can  help  parents  in identify their children’s emotion development.  Keywords: expert system, diagnose, emotion development, knowledge base, rules

Abstract

Dalam sebuah organisasi pengelolaan jadwal adalah hal yang rutin. Namun demikian masih banyak ditemukan kesulitan dalam pembangkitan jadwal yang diinginkan. Hal tersebut terutama terjadi karena terdapat berbagai batasan yang tidak dapat ditentukan secara pasti untuk setiap situasi. Dalam makalah ini disampaikan sebuah pendekatan untuk menetapkan kriteria pembangkitan jadwal secara fleksibel. Pendekatan tersebut dilakukan melalui pemanfaatan Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP). Salah satu hal yang ingin ditekankan adalah fleksibilitas CSP dalam hal penentuan kriteria pada saat pembangkitan jadwal. Ujicoba dilakukan pada penjadwalan staf di Laboratorium Fakultas Teknologi Informasi (FIT) di Universitas XXX. Ujicoba tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan CSP menghasilkan beberapa kandidat penjadwalan yang memenuhi kriteria dan berpotensi tinggi untuk diterapkan.
