Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) in protecting chillipepper plant from infection of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV). Seven isolates of PGPR, i.e. BC1, BTP2H, BTP3G, BTP3O BTP1, BTP2D, and T1F were applied as seed treatment and soil drench. Plants height, number of branch, and fruits weight were measured every one and ten weeks after virus inoculation. Virus concentration in plants and disease incidence were confirmed by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA). Results showed that inoculation with PGPR improved the seed germination. Eight days after sowing, the percentage of PGPR treated seed germination reached 50-84%; whereas those of untreated seed reached only 18%. In general, PGPR treatment significantly reduced (p < 0.05) the effect of virus infection on plant growth. Two PGPR isolates, i.e. BTP1 and BTP2H, maintained fruit weight of infected plants as good as those of healthy plants. Based on ELISA, PGPR was able to inhibit the disease incidence. The BTP3O and BTP2D isolates even protected the plant from ChiVMV infection. Concentration of salicylic acid and peroxidase were relatively higher on plants treated with PGPR than those without PGPR treatment. This gave an indication that PGPR may act as induction agents for systemic acquired resistance. Therefore, PGPR treatment is a promising strategy to control viral diseases on chillipepper.

Abstract

This research aimed to figure out the effect of discovery learning using PhET to the learning outcome in physics of the second-grade students in SMAN 1 Kediri Academic Year 2017/2018. This research was conducted as the result of experiment using non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was the whole second-grade students in SMAN 1 Kediri. To limit the sample, surfeited sampling was applied consisting the students in class XI MS I as the experiment class and class MS II as the control class. Research instrument used was the multiple-choice test after the tests of validity, reliability, discrimination power, and difficulty level have been done. The increasing of the learning outcome was defined from the result of N-gain test per sub-chapter. The result of this research showed that the learning outcome of the students has increased to both classes. This proved that discovery learning method using PhET has succeeded in increasing the students’ learning outcome for Physics.

Abstract

This study is aimed to know the influence of cooperative learning type STAD by experiment method towards science process skill and student’s output in learning physics at SMAN 1 Labuapi in academic year 2015/2016. The method used in this study was quasi experimental design of untreated control group design pretest-posttest. The population of this study was the overall students of X class at SMAN 1 Labuapi, where there are 4 classes with random sampling technique in taking the subject. Two sample was taken as the subject of this study where X-D as experimental class which was treated using cooperative learning of type STAD by experiment method and X-A as control class. Technique of data analysis of this study was two sample t-test. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded: (1) there was the influence of cooperative learning of type STAD by experiment method towards science process skill of student’s physics, (2) there was the influence of cooperative learning of type STAD by experiment method towards student’s output in learning physics.

Abstract

Abstract – The aim of this research is to know the impact of the applying of problem-based learning with animation toward the critical thinking skill and result of learning physics of student of SMAN 5 Mataram academic year 2016/2017. This research is belong to quasi experiment with pretest-postest control group design. The population is all student of XI MIPA at SMAN 5 Mataram, while the sample are class XI MIPA 4 as the experimental class, and the XI MIPA 6 as control class. The sample taken by the random sampling. The collect of data is done by give the test, 20 multiple choice to knowing the result of learning phyisics and 5 essay for knowing the student’s critical thinking skill. The collected data has been analyzed by using the -test. The result of this research shows that (1) there is an impact of the applying of problem-based learning with animation toward the student’s critical thinking skill that includes the ability in: (a) focusing the question, (b) analyzing the argument/identificating the reason, (c) inducing and considering the result of induction, (d) evaluating the result of consideration, (e) giving the reason; (2) there is an impact of the applying of problem-based learning with animation toward the student’s result of learning physics that includes the result of learning in the cognitif area that follow the Bloom’s taxonomy, that is C1 till C6 (remembering, knowing, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating).

Abstract

This research is aimed to investigate the influence of discovery learning model and guided inquiry based experiment method to the physics learning outcomes and students’ scientific attitude. This research is a quasi experiment with 2×2 of factorial design method. The population is all students of 13 classes of grade X of SMAN 2 Mataram. Sample is determined by using a cluster random sampling method. Data is analyzed by t-test statistics of two sample. The results showed that discovery learning model based experiment method has influence to the  physics learning outcomes and students’ scientific attitude, and guided inquiry learning model based experiment method has influence to the physics learning outcomes and students’ scientific attitude. Beside that, discovery learning model and guided inquiry based experiment method has influence to the physics learning outcomes and students’ scientific attitude.Keywords: discovery, guided inquiry, experiment, physics learning outcomes, and  scientific attitude

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi is known to have a wide varieties of local cultivars of upland rice. Unfortunately, resistance of those local cultivars of upland rice to Curvularia oryzae, one of the most important pathogen in upland rice cultivation, has not been reported. Resistance evaluation conducted in the field showed that local cultivars (Pae Kori, Pae Endokadia, and Pae Enggalaru) have high level of resistance, developing lines B10580E and B11580E have moderate resistance, whereas B11577E and TB368B lines were susceptible to C. oryzae infection.Key words: Curvularia oryzae, disease resistance, upland rice

Abstract

So far the study of the relevance of earnings, cash flow value, and the book reveals that the value of earnings and book value are positively correlated to the stock price while cash flow has no information content if the visible effects on stock prices. This study aimed to determine the influence of the value relevance of earnings, operating cash flow and book value of equity to the stock price. This study uses data of registered companies in LQ45 as of August 2008 until January 2009. Data analysis was done through multiple regression, where prior to regression analysis of data was tested first with the classic assumption test. Data analysis showed that the influence of the value relevance of earnings, operating cash flow and book value of shares in the period hargpa non suspension of shares indicate that the value relevance of earnings and book value significantly influence stock prices, while operating cash flow variable has no significant effect. Meanwhile, the value relevance test the influence of profit, operating cash flow and book value to share price on stock suspension period indicates that the variable income is a variable one - the only significant effect on stock prices, while the cash flow variable is a variable that has a negative and not significant. While the book value variable is a variable with a positive but not significant effect. Keywords : profit, book value, equity shares

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models and its contribution to improving critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. This research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research samples was taken with a purposive sampling technique with criteria for physics prospective teacher were taking the fundamental physics course as many as 2 (two) classes that would be used as the experimental and control group. The research data were analyzed descriptively and statistically (inferential) using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 23.0. The results showed that the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models had a positive impact and contributed to the improvement of critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. Further description of the research conducted is presented in this article.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the difference between physics learning result through numbered heads together type cooperative learning model helped by question card and physics learning result through direct instruction learning model at SMAN 7 Mataram on academic year of 2015/2016. This research was an experimental study with pretest posttest control group design. The population in this research was all the students of XI IPA SMAN 7 Mataram. Based on sampling process using cluster random sampling tehnique, XI IPA 7 was choosen as the experiment A class and XI IPA 6 was choosen as the experiment B class. The result of the test analized using t-test polled varians showed that tcount was 5,98 and ttable was 1,99 in the significant level of 5 % with the degree of freedom (df) of 61. Since tcount > ttable, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there were a difference between physics learning result through numbered heads together type cooperative learning model helped by question card and physics learning result through direct instruction learning model at SMAN 7 Mataram on academic year of 2015/2016

Abstract

The experimental research is aimed to revealing the difference between science process through inquiry learning model and inquiry learning model with pictorial riddle method for students in SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsari academic year 2015/2016. The research designs is using pretest posttest control group design. The samples were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The population is all students of SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsari grade VIII, while the samples are the  students in VIII D class (experiment class 1) and VIII F class (experiment class 2). The instrument of this research  is the science process skills test in form of reasoned multiple choice, which has been tested statistically it’s  validity, reliability, discrimination index and level of difficulty of  the item. The data analysed used  independent sample t-test at significant  level  of 5 % with  tcount is 2,535 and ttable  is 1,671 because tcoun > ttable,, then H0  is  rejected and Ha accepted. The result indicates that there is a difference between science process through inquiry learning model and  inquiry learning  model with  pictorial riddle  method for student in SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsari academic year  2015/2016.
