Abstract

Teacher Taskforce-based Training Model to Improve the Ability to Develop Class-based As­sessment Instruments. This R & D project was aimed at demonstrating the most effective model, out of three training models-Teachers Working Group (KKG)-Practice-Reflection (KPR), Modelling-Practice-Reflection (MPR), and Telling-Practice-Reflection (CPR). The first model was de­veloped based on orientation re­sults. This model was validated by educational experts and practitioners and was tried-out so as to result in a model which was more appropriate for primary schools. In the stage of semi-summative evaluation for the final design, an experiment was conducted to identify the most ef­fective model. The experiment employed a factorial design. The findings show that MPR was the most effective model. This model was perceived as the one which was beneficial to improve the teachers capability in designing the in­struments of classroom-based assessment for science teaching. In addition, the model could improve the teachers knowledge of classroom-based assessment, and could help them design better classroom-­based assessment instruments. The second most effective model was KPR. Even though this model was perceived as less beneficial than MPR, with training carried out twice, it could improve the teachers capability in designing the instruments of classroom-based as­sessment as effective as that of MPR model.

Abstract

Abstract: Project-Based Learning to Improve Learning Outcomes of Limnology in Biology De­partment. The purpose of Limnology course is to enable students to solve freshwater environmental prob­lems through the application of environmental management concept. The purpose of research is to improve learning outcomes of students in limnology concepts understanding, ability to design projects, and ability to implement and communicate the result. This classroom action research is designed in two cycles. Re­search was conducted on Limnology course in the Biology Department, State University of Malang, in the second semester of the year 2009/2010. Project-based learning guided by cooperative group investi­gation can increase students understanding of limnology concept, the students ability to plan and im­plement limnology research projects, and their ability to communicate the result of the project. Abstrak: Pembelajaran Berbasis Projek untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Limnologi di Jurusan Biologi. Matakuliah Limnologi merupakan salah satu matakuliah keahlian berkarya di Jurusan Biologi FMIPA UM. Limnologi bertujuan melatih mahasiswa agar mampu berkarya untuk memecahkan perma­salahan lingkungan perairan tawar melalui penerapan konsep-konsep pengelolaan lingkungan. Peneli­tian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Limnologi melalui penerapan Pembelajaran Ber­basis Projek (PBP) yang dipandu kooperatif investigasi kelompok. Hasil belajar didefinisikan sebagai pemahaman konsep, kemampuan merancang projek, dan kemampuan melaksanakan dan mengkomunika­sikan hasil projek. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dirancang dalam dua Siklus. Penelitian dilakukan pada matakuliah Limnologi di Jurusan Biologi FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang yang disajikan pada Semester Genap 2009/2010. Penerapan PBP yang dipandu dengan kooperatif in­vestigasi kelompok meningkatkan pemahaman konsep limnologi, meningkatkan kemampuan maha­siswa dalam merencanakan projek serta melaksanakan dan mengko­munikasikan hasil projek penelitian limnologi.

Abstract

Abstract: Implementing Project-Based Instruction to Improve Students’ Learning Outcomes in Research Methodology Course. This classroom action research focused on improving the achievement of students’ learning outcomes in Research Methodology Course offered at Biology Department State University of Malang. The learning outcomes include understanding of basic research concepts, competence in developing a research proposal, and competence in conducting and communicating a research project. This classroom action research indicates that after two cycles, the students’ scores in understanding basic research concepts were still below the minimum passing score of 75, whereas their scores in developing a research proposal and in conducting and communicating a research project were beyond the minimum passing score. However, their scores in understanding basic research concepts as indicated by experimentalpractices were higher than the minimum requirement.Abstrak: Implementasi Pembelajaran Berbasis Projek Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar dalam Matakuliah Metodologi Penelitian.  Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan di Jurusan Biologi FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang, dan difokuskan pada peningkatan pencapaian hasil belajar mahasiswa Metodologi Penelitian. Hasil belajar diekspresikan ke dalam pemahaman konsep dasar penelitian, kemampuan membuat proposal penelitian, serta kemampuan dalam melakukan dan mengkomunikasikan projek penelitian. Data dianalisis dengan membandingkan skor mahasiswa dengan skor ketuntasan minimal (75) dan peningkatan skor hasil belajar pada 2 siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor rerata tes pemahaman konsep dasar penelitian pada 2 siklusberada di bawah skor ketuntasan minimal; namun skor pemahaman konsep dasar penelitian yang ditunjukkan oleh hasil praktik eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa semua mahasiswa telah melampaui k etuntasan minimal. Skor rerata mahasiswa dalam merencanakan penelitian, dan dalam melaksanakan dan mengkomunikasikan hasil penelitian telah mencapai ketuntasan minimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil PTK mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi FMIPA UM tahun 2010 dan kesesuaiannya yang meliputi: (1) gambaran permasalahan penelitian, (2) upaya penanganan masalah, (3) prosedur penelitian, dan (4) hasil penelitian. Meta-analisis kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode sintesis kualitatif Ogawa dan Malen dalam Gall (2003) terhadap PTK dilakukan melalui studi dokumen di Perpustakaan Pusat UM. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh skripsi mahasiswa Biologi program studi S1 Pendidikan Biologi tahun 2010 yang berupa PTK. Pengambilan sampel  menggunakan strategi sampel homogen (Gall, 2003). Sampel adalah 16 skripsi PTK yang menerapkan satu metode pembelajaran. Data diperoleh menggunakan instrumen tabulasi data, ringkasan hasil penelitian dan panduan analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) gambaran permasalahan penelitian: (a) permasalahan yang sering diangkat dalam skripsi PTK tahun 2010 yaitu masalah penyampaian materi, (b) masalah penelitian yang dialami sendiri oleh guru sebagai peneliti hanya terdapat dalam satu skripsi (6,25%). (2) Upaya penanganan masalah: (a) tindakan penanganan masalah yang sering dilakukan yaitu menggunakan strategi kooperatif (75%), (b) jenis masalah yang sering ditanggulangi adalah masalah motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa (56,25%), dan (c)  ada yang belum sesuai antara upaya yang dilakukan dengan permasalahan yang diangkat dalam 5 skripsi (31,25%). (3) Prosedur penelitian: (a) semua skripsi PTK tahun 2010 sudah mengikuti fase-fase yang ada dalam PTK, (b) semua skripsi PTK sudah menuliskan refleksi dari tindakan dan observasi yang dilakukan, (4) Hasil penelitian: (a) hasil penelitian yang sering dibahas yaitu peningkatan/perbaikan oleh siswa saja (50%) dan peningkatan/perbaikan oleh siswa dan guru (50%), dan (b) sebagian besar kesimpulan dari PTK yang ditulis dalam skripsi adalah tindakan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti dapat menanggulangi masalah penelitian (93,75%). Abstract

Base on preliminary observations taken at VIIIC class of SMPN 10 Malang during 6th to October 31, 2014, were found several facts. Most of students test result have not reached minimum standard result that is 75 (only 14.17% of students who reach minimum standard result, and average of test results obtained by the students is 50), students are less skilled to do practical work, only certain students are active and enthusiastic in learning activities, some of these phenomenon are proof that motivation and student learning outcomes need to be improved. Solution that can be applied is to apply inquiry learning model. The purpose of this study is to obtain a clear explanation about the improvement of motivation and student learning outcomes at VIIIC class of SMPN 10 Malang through the implementation of inquiry learning model. This classroom action research was conducted at the time of learning by chapter of excretion system. Results of the research showed that, Students' motivation have increased from 72% in the first cycle to 82% in the second cycle. Cognitive learning outcomes of students have increased from 79.41% in the first cycle to 88.24% in the second cycle. Psychomotor learning outcomes of students have increased from 78% in the first cycle to 91% in the second cycle. Affective of learning outcomes of students have increased from 84% in the first cycle to 90% in the second cycle. Base on the data of these research, it can be concluded that the implementation of inquiry learning model can improve students motivation and learning outcomes at VIIIC class of SMPN 10 Malang.

Abstract

The research of impact project-based instruction guided lesson study in Educational Research Methodology course has been conducted in 2010 until 2012. The research was focused to improve student achievement of learning outcomes in Educational Research Methodology course at Department of Biology, State University of Malang. The learning outcome was defined on three skill levels, understanding of educational research basic concept, creating of research proposal, and final grade. The research approach was classroom action research guided lesson study. The data is analyzed by comparing student score with the minimum requirement score and the improvement of score from cycle 1 to cycle 2 and cycle 3. The mean score of understanding research basic concept increase from cycle 1 to cycle 3. The implementation of project-based instruction guided lesson study improved the ability of students to create research proposal. The percentage of studentswho gotthe final gradeof A andA- increased from priorresearchtocycle1, cycle 2and cycle 3. On the contrary, percentageof studentswho have final gradeC, D,andEwere reduced.  The study showed that project-based instruction guided lesson study improved the ability of students to achieve learning outcomes, comprehend research basic concept, creating research proposal, and higher final grade

Abstract

The Science Curriculum 2013 is designed to develop students’ scientific literacy. Scientific literacy involves mastery of science concept, process skill, attitude, as well as writing skill. This study investigated the attainment of scientific literacy and biology competencies of 10th grade science students at SMAK Kolese Santo Yusup, Malang, Indonesia. The method of this study was quasi experiment by using nonequivalent pretest posttest control group design. Based on existing theoretical framework, assessment were developed to know the concept mastery, ability to apply biology concept to solve authentic problem, and publish the findings through on line social media. To improve student’s scientific literacy, the active learning model called Terjun Tulis Saji (TTS) was applied. The TTS method guided the students to collect data and information based on their question or problem, analyze of the data and information to construct new understanding and thinking, represent and communicate the findings. The result of the study showed significant differences of scientific literacy and biology competencies between control and experiment group. The effect of TTS on scientific literacy and biology competencies of students in biology lesson were discussed.

Abstract

 The development of learning tools for Environmental Education to develop students environmental literacy skills are indispensable. Methods of research and development using 4-D Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). The result of the development of the device include syllabi, lesson plans, modules, and assessment instruments tested in class IV A Lesson Study by performing well. The trial results actually (validation testing) with pre-experiment (class IV B) can improve the literacy skills of students include aspects of environmental knowledge, attitudes, and skills and habituation. The trial results actually (class IV B) obtained N-Score Gain knowledge and attitude tests of 0.64 (medium), and N-Gain Score of the attitude scale questionnaire 0.67 (moderate). While aspects of the students skills include practical activities seed, move into the growing medium, and the practice of making compost with N-Gain Score of 0.54 (medium) and 0.69 (moderate). Activity habituation maintain plants and credible form of checks compost with N-Gain Score of 0.48 (moderate). The results of research and development is expected to be utilized by the school and can be distributed to other schools.

Abstract

The purpose of the research and development is to produce teaching materials such as textbooks supporting course in Reproduction Physiology research based on the toxicity analysis for students whotake a course in Reproduction Physiology. This research is a research and development, where theresults of research become the teaching materials developed supporting Reproduction Physiologycourse. Development models have prepared using ADDIE Model. Sources of data in this researchinclude laboratory research and validation of the results sheet of Biotechnology material experts,instructional design experts, the media, and the trials in students. The analysis is used quantitative andqualitative.The results of the research have developed become teaching materials like text bookssupporting courses and have been validated by the Reproduction Physiology, the ReproductionPhysiology material experts, instructional design experts, the media, the individual testing, and grouptrials. Based on the results of the validation material have obtained value of 95%, the results of thedesign validation and media experts to get the value of 93.75%, it means that the teaching materials hasbeen developed which suitable to be used as a teaching material support biotechnology course. Whilethe experiments performed to get a data the percentage of students that are equal to 88,25 % andincluded in the category of “very good”, but still need to be revised based on advices and commentsfrom students.Keywords: Development, Instructional Material, ADDIE

Abstract

This purpose of this research was to determine the influence of scientific inquiry based learning on science process skills. This experimental research was used nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Population was all students of class XI SMAN 7 Malang. Samples in this study consists of two classes, XI MIPA 1 as experimental group and XI MIPA 2 as the control group. The independent variable was scientific inquiry based learning. The dependent variable was science processes skills. The research result show that scientific inquiry based learning significantly increase the student’s science process skills (p<0,05). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh scientific inquiry based learning terhadap keterampilan proses siswa. Penelitian eksperimen ini menggunakan nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 Malang Sampel pada penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelompok kontrol. Variabel bebas adalah pembelajaran scientific inquiry based learning. Variabel terikat adalah keterampilan proses. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa scientific inquiry based learning secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains (p<0,05).
