Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the current conditions of learning mathematics and analyze the potential for the development of mathematics module for Statistics and Probability (2) to develop instructional materials in the form of mathematical module for Statistics and Probability in grade XI Science,(3) to test the effectiveness of the use of the module for Statistics and Probability,(4) to test the efficiency of the use of the module for Statistics and Probability,(5)to test the attractiveness of the module for Statistics and Probability.It was conducted in SMAN 13, SMAN 15, and SMA Persada Bandar Lampung. The research conclusions are (1) senior high schools in Bandar Lampung are potential for the development of the module Statistics and Probability (2) the development of teaching materials for math module for Statistics and Probability (3) module is effective for instructional materials in teaching (4) module is efficient to use as teaching materials in learning (5) module is attractive for students as teaching material for Statistics and ProbabilityTujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mendeskripsikan kondisi pembelajaran matematika saat ini  dan menganalisis potensi pengembangan modul matematika materi Statistika dan Peluang, (2) mengembangkan bahan ajar dalam bentuk modul matematika materi Statistika dan Peluang kelas XI IPA, (3) menguji efektifitas penggunaan modul Statistika dan Peluang, (4) menguji efisiensi penggunaan modul Statistika dan Peluang,(5) menguji kemenarikan modul Statistika dan Peluang. Penelitian dilakukan di SMAN 13 Bandar Lampung, SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung dan SMA Persada Bandar Lampung. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah (1) SMA di Bandar Lampung berpotensi untuk pengembangan modul Statistika dan Peluang (2) pengembangkan bahan ajar modul matematika materi Statistika dan Peluang (3) Modul efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran.(4) Modul efisien digunakan sebagai digunakan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran (5) Modul  menarik siswa sebagai bahan ajar materi Statistika dan PeluangKata kunci : bahan ajar, modul, statistika dan peluang.

Abstract

Geometry is one of mathematics’ material that explain about object in dimension one, two, or three. Geometry can give student to visual’s ability of their objects. Student that have good visual’s ability will effect imagination’s ability too, and it’s reverse. Geometry is mathematics’ material that is difficult to understand for student and to teach for teacher. This qualitative research is aim to (1) know students’ Mathematical mistakes to solve in geometry problem, and (2) know causes students’ mistakes in solving of geometry problem. The result show that (1) mistakes of geometry conceptual and procedural by middle and high student, (2) mistakes of procedural is more than conceptual, (3) mistakes conceptual is determine formula of area in dimension two, (4) mistakes of procedural is precisely draw plane, and count its area such as square, rectangle, trapezoid, and (5) causes students’ mistakes are student can’t read ruler and student is not understand concept of concept, and learning is not meaning-full. Keywords : mathematical mistakes, geometry, mistakes       procedural and conceptual

Abstract

Teachers belief, or level of confidence as one of the four components of teacher competence (personal competence) has a strategic role in the success of student learning, especially for elementary school teachers. An elementary school teacher who has a good level of confidence will have an impact on the mental attitude toward the benefits of math for students, themselves, and everyday life, and belief in her abilities in teaching mathematics. The study is a descriptive study, which aims to describe the confidence level of primary school teachers in the learning of mathematics in the city of Bandar Lampung. Through the answers to the questionnaire sample 23 elementary school teachers obtained the results of the study that the confidence level of primary school teachers in teaching mathematics in Bandar Lampung quite enough; with details (1) semi-city elementary school teacher at better than the city center and suburbs, (2) central elementary school teachers better city than the suburbs, and (3) private school teachers in mathematics learning is better than public school teachers. Keywords : teachers belief (confidence level), the learning of  mathematics, and teachers.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the increasing of student’s mathematical problem solving skill and self-esteem which was taught by problem based learning as compared to the conventional learning. The population of this research was all students of grade 8th of SMPN 5 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2013/2014 that distributed into ten classes. The samples were students of VIIIA and VIIIB class who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical problem solving skill and self-esteem scale. The conclusion of this research was the problem based learning could increase the student’s mathematical problem solving skill, but not increase the student’s self-esteem.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self-esteem siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran berbasis masalah dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 5 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam sepuluh kelas. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIA dan VIIIB yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan skala self-esteem. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah PBM dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa, tetapi tidak meningkatkan self-esteem siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pemecahan masalah matematis, self-esteem

Abstract

This qulitative-descriptive research was aimed to know the student’s errors in solving word problems in mathematic learning and the cause of the errors. The subjects were students of VII A class of Junior High School state 20 of Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2013/2014. The data was collected by test and interview. The data analysis was done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the research results, it was known that students errors in solving word problem were understand the problem, make model of mathematics, do counting, and make conclusions. It was caused by the lack interest and motivation of students towards mathematics.Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada pembelajaran matematika dan penyebab kesalahan tersebut.  Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII A SMP Negeri 20 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita yaitu kesalahan memahami soal, membuat model matematika, melakukan perhitungan, dan menarik kesimpulan.  Hal ini disebabkan oleh rendahnya minat dan motivasi siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika.                                  Kata kunci: kesalahan, matematika, penyelesaian soal cerita

Abstract

This research aimed to know the increasing of student’s mathematical representation skill and belief which was taught by problem based learning  compared to the conventional learning. The design of this research was pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade 8thof SMPN 3 Pringsewu in academic year of 2013/2014 that was distributed into eight classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII3 and VIII4 class who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical representation skill and belief scale. The conclusion of this research was the problem based learning could increase the student’s mathematical representation skill, but not increase the student’s belief.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis dan belief siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran berbasis masalah dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Pringsewu tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam delapan kelas. Abstract

This quasi experimental research aims to know the influence of problem posing approach towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Problem posing approach is one of the approachs that train students to ask the questions which they design according to their understanding. The research design is posttest only control group. The population is all seventh grade students who have middle and high ability in problem of Junior High School State 1 Natar in academic year 2012/2013. Sample is students of VIIA and VIIB class that determined by purposive sampling technique. The result of research shows that  problem posing approach has influence towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding, a case study on seventh grade students of Junior High School State 1 Natar in academic year 2012/2013.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan problem posing terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Pendekatan problem posing merupakan salah satu pendekatan yang dapat mela­tih siswa untuk bertanya dengan pertanyaan yang mereka rancang sendiri sesuai de­ngan pema­haman siswa tersebut. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah posttest only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII yang berkemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sedang dan tinggi SMPN 1 Natar tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIA dan VIIB dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pendekatan problem posing berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Natar tahun pelajaran 2012/2013.Kata Kunci: pemahaman konsep matematis, pengaruh, problem posing

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research was aimed to find the percentage of students who have difficulty in solving word problems and it’s cause. The subject of this research was students of VIII B class of SMP Negeri 2 Banjit. The data were obtained by test and interview. According to the result of research, 7 of 28 students or 25% of students have difficulty in solving word problems. Based on the data analysis, the main cause of it’s difficulty was students did not master the prior concepts as many as 20%. Another factors which give influence were (1) physical factor as many as 12,5%, (2) psychology factor as many as 62,5%, and (3) exhaustion factor as many as 25%.Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita dan penyebabnya. Subjek peneli­ti­­­­­­­­­an ini­ adalah siswa kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 2 Banjit. Data diperoleh melalui tes dan wawancara. Ber­dasar­­kan hasil penelitian, 7 dari 28 siswa atau 25% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita. Berdasarkan analisis data, penyebab utama kesulitan tersebut adalah siswa tidak menguasai konsep-konsep sebelumnya sebesar 20%. Faktor lain yang mempengaruhinya adalah (1) faktor jasmaniah sebesar 12,5%, (2) faktor psikologis sebesar 62,5%, dan (3) faktor kelelahan sebesar 25%.Kata kunci: analisis, kesulitan, soal cerita

Abstract

Based on the observation at VIIB class of junior high school Islam Kebumen Tanggamus in academic years 2012/2013 known that the student’s activity and achievement are low. It is caused by the implementation the uninovative learning model. This action research aims to improve students activities and achievements by cooperative learning model of STAD type. The research was done in there cycles and subject is sudents at VIIB of Junior High  School Islam Kebumen Tanggamus that is consist of 37 students. Each cycle consits of four steps, that are planning, implementating, observating and reflecting. The techniques of data colection are observation and test. Based on research result, it is concluded that cooperative learning model type STAD can improve the student’s activity and  achievemnet in Junior High School Islam Kebunem Tanggamus. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan pada siswa kelas VIIB SMP Islam Kebumen Tanggamus Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013, aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa dalam  proses pembelajaran masih rendah. Hal ini disebabkan kurang efektifnya model yang digunakan guru untuk melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dilakukan penelitian tindakan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus, dengan subjek penelitian kelas VIIB SMP Islam Kebumen Tanggamus yang berjumlah 37 siswa, terdiri dari 16 laki-laki dan 21 perempuan. Setiap siklusnya terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi  dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar  matematika siswa SMP Islam Kebumen Tanggamus.Kata kunci: aktivitas, hasil belajar, kooperatif tipe STAD, matematika
