Abstract

For cocoa clonal propagation it need rootstock with good characteristics. Half sibs families is the most appropriate alternative for rootstock selection. This study was aimed to select and estimate genetic parameters of cocoa seedling on the half sibs families of DR 1, DR 2, ICS 60, DRC 15, BLC 4, DRC 16, KEE 2, ICS 13, KW 162, KW 163, PA 300, RCC 70, TSH 858, Sca 6 and Sca 12. Research was carried out in Kaliwining Experimental Station of Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute. Genetic parameter were estimated based on variance and covariance component of the variables of the number of leaf, stem height, stem girth, leaf acreage, the volume of fresh root, the length of secondary root and the length of primary root which assessed along seed growth till 90 day after planting. The result showed that most of the recorded variables perform high category of narrow sense heritability (h 2>0.5). Stem girth, leaf acreage, volume of fresh root, length of secondary root and the length of primary root were assessed as the broad category of genetic variability (d2 A >2Sed 2 A ). Therefore, length of primary root and length of secondary root would be the main criterion for rootstock selection as their performance on broad category of genetic variability and high category of narrow sense heritability. Length of secondary root can be estimated based on the performance of stem girth (r = 0.5 * ) and leaf acreage (r = 0.23*) and the primary root can be stimated based on the performance of stem height (r = 0.81 * ) and leaf acreage (r = 0.72*). Based on positive selection of primary root lenght and negative selection of secondary root lenght it was identified that the families of KEE 2 and Sca 12 potentially would be good rootstock due to their long category of the primary root and short category of the secondary root that having characteristics of high water uptake and low vigor. Abstract

Prelimanary selection at Panataran Estate, East Java found five genotypes of promising fine flavor cocoa (PNT 12, PT 16, PNT 17, PNT 18, and PNT 33B) which had high yielding potency and estimated tolerant to VSD valuation of superior characters in each accession was important as base to be developed in multilocation test. The research was conducted in Penataran Estate, PTPN XII using single plot design and consisted of five fine flavor cocoa genotypes (PNT 12, PNT 16, PNT 17, PNT 18, and PNT 33B) and two genotypes as control (DR 2 and DRC 16). Each genotype consisted 33 plants (seven years old). Yield potential, score of VSD resistance, yield quality and morphology of stomata characters were observed. The analysis results showed that PNT 16 and PNT 12 had the highest of yield potential (1.46 and 1.10 kg/plant/year) respectively. PNT 16 also showed VSD scoring value low and stable on two years observation (2012-2013). Increasing pod number in 2013 was caused by recovery of the plant from VSD attack. Number of stomata on young leaf (flush) on PNT 16, PNT 17, PNT 18, and PNT 33B was lower than DR 2. Size of stomata qualitatively was different in each number. Characters of yield quality as pod lengh, pod weight, and pod girth on five promising clones were not as significantly different compared to control. Five fine flavor cocoa promising genotypes had white bean percentage more than 80 percent. Character of dry weight per bean on five fine flavour cocoa promising genotypes showed smaller than DR 2 but were not significantly different compared to DRC 16.

Abstract

Kriterium genetik yang mendasari pemilihan tetua persilangan perlu untuk diketahui. Penelitian untuk mengetahui kemampuan daya gabung umum dan daya gabung khusus beberapa klon kakao lindak untuk sifat-sifat pertumbuhan vegetatif dan presentase pembungaan telah dilakukan dengan rancangan persilangan dialel 7 × 7, tanpa selfing dan resiprokal. Klon-klon yang digunakan sebagai tetua persilangan adalah UIT 1, ICS 60, NIC 4, Sca 12, KEE 2, TSH 858 dan ICS 13. Sifat-sifat pertumbuhan vegetatif diukur adalah diameter batang, tinggi jorget, dan pertunasan cabang. Persentase pembungaan dihitung berdasarkan frekuensi tanaman berbunga pada saat 17 minggu setelah tanam. Data sifat sifat tersebut dianalisis ragamnya menggunakan metode Griffing 4. Efek daya gabung umum (dgu) menunjukkan pengaruh nyata pada sifat diameter batang, tinggi jorget, dan persentase pembungaan, namun tidak terdapat pengaruh nyata efek daya gabung khusus (dgk) terhadap sifat-sifat tersebut. Klon Sca 12 dan KEE 2 memiliki nilai dgu nyata untuk sifat diameter batang, tinggi jorget, dan persentase pembungaan; klon NIC 4 memiliki nilai dgu nyata untuk sifat diameter batang dan persentase pembungaan; dan klon ICS 13 memiliki nilai dgu nyata hanya untuk sifat tinggi jorget. Terdapat nilai dgk yang nyata pada kombinasi persilangan UIT 1 × ICS 60 untuk sifat diameter batang, dan kombinasi persilangan UIT 1 × Sca 12; ICS 60 × NIC 4; dan KEE 2 × TSH 858 untuk sifat persentase pembungaan.
