Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kandungan total fenolik dari ekstrak tongkol jagung dan aktivitasnya sebagai anti UV-B. Tongkol jagung diekstrak dengan pelarut etanol 20 (E20), 40 (E40), 60 (E60) dan 80% (E80) dengan cara refluks. Setelah itu, ekstrak dianalisis kandungan total fenolik dengan metode Folin-Ciocalteu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak tongkol jagung E20, E40, E60 dan E80 mengandung total fenolik berturut-turut adalah 38,98; 56,02; 66,84 dan 73,06 mg/kg. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak tongkol jagung memiliki kandungan senyawa fenolik yang dapat berpotensi sebagai bahan aktif tabir surya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh perendaman pisang goroho dengan ekstrak rempah-rempah terhadap aktivitas antioksidan tepung pisang goroho. Ekstrak rempah-rempah (daun cengkeh, daun salam, rimpang kunyit, biji pala, rimpang jahe, daun sereh, kayu manis, merica putih, rimpang lengkuas dan buah andaliman) diperoleh dengan maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol. Selanjutnya, pisang goroho direndam selama 60 menit dalam ekstrak rempah-rempah, lalu tepung pisang goroho yang dihasilkan dianalisis kandungan total senyawa fenolik dan aktivitas penangkal radikal bebas 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil (DPPH). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan senyawa fenolik dan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dimiliki oleh tepung pisang yang direndam dengan ekstrak daun salam dan yang paling rendah terdapat pada tepung yang direndam dengan ekstrak merica putih. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa perendaman pisang goroho dengan ekstrak rempah-rempah mampu meningkatkan aktivitas antioksidan dari tepung pisang goroho.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the potential antioxidant phytochemicalextracts corn cob (Zea mays L.). Corn cobs extracted using maceration method for 1x24 hours.Determination of phytochemical content is done by calculating the total phenolic. Testingantioxidant activity using free-radical scavengers DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil). Results ofthis research showed that the extract of corn cobs have total phenolic. Extract 60% corn cobs haveprophylactic activity of free radicals, followed by extract 40, 80 and 20%. Conclusion of thisresearch is corn cob extracts have potential as antioxidants phytochemicals.Keywords : corn cob, antioxidant, phenolic, DPPH

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to determine antioxidant n activity from pineapple peal extract. Pineapple peel extracted by maceration, soxhlet and reflux using ethanol 80% as a solvent. Phenolics and flavonoids content of Crude extract were analyzed.Evaluation of antioxidant activity using DPPH free radicals method, The results shows that maceration, soxhlet and reflux extract possess phenolics content 16,53; 28,78; 16,02 g/mL respectively, and  flavonoid total content 3,514; 5,115; 4,414 g/mL respectively. Maceration extract with concentration 3000 g/mL possess low free radical scavenging activity, and soxhlet extract possess the highest.Inhibition concentration 50% (IC50) of soxhlet extract were 602,56 g/mL, it’s indicate that soxhlet extract possess high scavenging of 50% free radicals. This result shows that pineapple peel extract possess phytochemical phenolics and flavonoids that potential to be antioxidant and as active compound of sun screen. Abstract

The objectives of this study was to synthesized 4,6-diallyl-2-methoxyphenol (DMP) from allyl eugenol by Claisen rearrangement. The reaction was carried out at temperature 170-200oC and the reaction time was 30 minutes. The synthesis of DMP by heating at 170-200oC for a certain period of time appears to be a fairly good and simple method. The synthesis compounds were elucidated by infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), and mass spectrometry (MS) techniques. Antioxidant activity evaluated the based on the heating of coconut oil. At higher temperatures of reaction the yield will be higher and at the reaction time 30 minutes will produce will produce higher yield which was 59,19%. The gas chromatographic analysis showed that the purity of DMP was 96,45% The structure of 4,6-diallyl-2-methoxyphenol was identified by IR spectrometry which shows strong absorption at 3527 cm-1 indicating hydroxyl group from the phenolic compound and 1H NMR spectra showed that the number of protons of aromatic ring was two hydrogen while the mass spectrometry showed the molecular ion peak at m/z 204 as base peak and absence of peak at (M-41)+ as the indicator of ally eugenol. The addition of DMP at concentration 200 ppm in coconut oil exhibited excellent inhibition of oxidation reaction more than BHT as control positive. The result concluded that 4,6-diallyl-2-methoxyphenol had antioxidant activity on heating of coconut oil at 80oC for 30 day.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of adsorbent on antioxidant activity of liquid smoke from champaka wood. The adsorbent was used as active carbon, silica gel and alumina. Concentration of adsorbent were added to liquid smoke fro 1-5%. Antioxidant activity of liquid smoke was evaluated in 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DDPH) radical test. The liquid smoke was treated with third adsorbent in agitation for 15, 30 and 45 minutes. The effect of active carbon showed the highest scavenging activity in DPPH radical followed alumina and silica gel. This result showed that active carbon effect at concentration of 3 and 5% had highest antioxidant activity than alumina and silica gel for 45 and 60 minutes. This research concluded that active carbon could be increase antioxidant activity of liquid smoke.

Abstract

The objectives of this study was to determine phytochemicals content and free radical scavengingactivities of bread fruit leaves. Bread fruit leaves were finely ground in a laboratory mill and samples wasextracted with methanol, ethanol and acetone under room temperature, respectively. Analyses ofphytochemicals based on total phenolic, flavonoid and condensed tannins. The radical scavengingactivities of extracts were determined by 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and the ferric reducingability plasma assay. The highest total phenolic content was in methanol extract (EM), followed byethanol extract (EE) and acetone extract are 179.89 ± 3.17; 152.55 ± 3.17 and 62.46 ± 1.31 mg/Kgrespectively. EM possessed highest contents of total flavonoid and condensed tannins compared with EEand EA. The addition of methanol extracts of in the reaction mixture showed the highest scavengingactivity in 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical 74.80% followed by EE 71.80% and 38.80%.These result suggested that contains phenolic compounds groups having free radical scavengingactivities.

Abstract

Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus Stapf) is a traditional food ingredient characterized by its specific andrefreshing aroma. This objectives of study was determined phytochemical contents and the effect of lemongrass leaves extract in photooxidation linoleic acid and ascorbic acid in system model. Lemon grass leaves wasextracted sequentially with hexane and methanol. The photooxidation reaction system was consisted of linoleicacid 0.03 M in ethanol containing 0.017 mM erythrosine as sensitizer the reaction mixture was exposed under4000 lux fluorescent light up to 5 hours while ascorbic acid 200 μg/mL in phospat buffer solution (pH 7.5)containing 0.0068 mM erythrosine as sensitizer illuminated for 20 minutes. Analyses of phytochemical based ontotal phenolic and flavonoid. Analyses of photooxidation of linoleic acid based on peroxide value anddegradation of ascorbic acid was analyzed using the spectrophotometer at λ 265 nm. The total phenolic andflavonoid content in hexane extract showed the highest phenolic content than methanol extract. Hexane extract1500 ppm exhibited singlet oxygen quenching effect on photooxidation linoleic acid compared with methanolextract, peroxide value 3.57 and 3.72 meq/kg after 5 hours illumination, respectively. Hexane extract 100 ppmalso exhibited singlet oxygen quenching effect on photooxidation ascorbic acid compared with methanol extract,ascorbic acid content 185.44 and 76.67 mg/kg after 5 hours illumination, respectively. It’s concluded thathexane extract of lemon grass leaves contain phenolic component that have singlet oxygen quencher activity.

Abstract

Eichhornia crassipes is a weeds to people. The objectives of this research were to analyze phytochemicalcontent and photoreduction activity. Phytochemical content that analyzed were total phenolic, total flavonoidand condenced tannin. Photoreduction activity were done using reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+. The highest totalphenolic, flavonoid and condenced tannin were extracted with water in leaves, 26.327, 3.191, 25.300 mg/kgrespectively. Photoreduction activity of enceng gondok decreases Fe3+ concentration from 9,111 to 1,500 ppm.Enceng gondok posses photoreduction activity because it has phenolic, flavonoid and condenced tannincontent.
