Abstract

The purpose of the research was to investigate the effects of PEG 400 addition on the characteristics of bioplastic polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). PHA was obtained by cultivating Ralstonia eutropha on hydrolysed sago starch substrate using fed batch method for approximately 96 hours. The biomass concentration obtained was 4 g/L with PHA yield 20-30% of dry cell weight. The bioplastic was formed with solution casting method in which chloroform was used as solvent and PEG 400 was used as plasticizer. The concentrations of PEG 400added were 10, 20, and 30% (w/w), respectively. Bioplastic properties which were tested were tensile strength, elongation to break, density, thermal properties, cristalinity, and functional group. The addition of plastisizer tend to increase tensile strength and elongation to break, but decrease density, cristalinity and melting point. Bioplastic with 30% PEG 400 addition gave the best results. Bioplastic with 30% PEG 400 gave a value of tensile strength of 0.083 MPa; elongation to break of 0.881%; density of 0.7881 g/cm3;  melting point of 158.95 ac; and cristalinity of 44.58%. Abstract

For producing oil remains that remained at old oil wells (mature field), a method of advanced oilacquirement improvement known as an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) should be applied. Surfactant plays animportant role in EOR process by reducing interfacial tension (1FT), altering wettability, reducing oil viscosity,and stabilizing dispersion to facilitate the process of oil jetting from reservoir to production well. To optimallycleanse oil that still remained a surfactant compatible with formation water and reservoir is needed. This studywas conducted to get the best time of sulfonation process for producing MES surfactant with lower interfacialtension for EOR application. Results showed that the best times of sulfonation process with lower interfacialtension value were 3 and 4 hours.Keywords: Surfactant, MES, sulfonation time, interfacial tension, EOR.

Abstract

The sodium lignosulfonate (SLS) is a derivative compound from lignin which has various usefulness. Commercial SLS is a by-product of Arbiso pulping sulfite industry, but nowadays, the amount of available commercial SLS is scare due to the expensive price of SLS. Therefore, it is needed to find the solution to produce of SLS using a feasible process. This research involves producing SLS by directly cooking the palm oil stem biomass dust in a pressurized reactor using sodium bi-sulfite (NaHSO3) solvent. The experiment focused on the modeling, influence of process variables and its optimization that statistically analyze using the Response Surface Method-Central Composite Design (RSM-CCD). The result showed that the solid-liquid ratio is the most affecting factor to the SLS rendemen. The relation between rendemen and temperature (T), pH (C) and solid-liquid ratio (R) can be modeled as % rendemen = 12.18 + 0.52T – 0.48C + 3.5R – 1.02T2 – C2 – 1.53R2. The optimal operation conditions were identified at temperature of 153.8oC, pH = 4.64 and solid-liquid ratio of 1:15.9.

Abstract

Resource potential of North Sumatra supports the idea to make North Sumatra as a national barometer of oil palm. The development of agro-CPO and its derivatives have great potential to grow rapidly because it is still 5.5% of the area planted with oil palm than 133 million hectares of potential land. Efforts to strengthen the availability of raw materials for CPO agroindustry and its derivatives by conducting Plantation Revitalization required with financial support from the banking system. Program of Plantation Revitalization is an effort to accelerate the development of smallholders through the expansion, replanting and rehabilitation of plantation-backed loans and investment of banking and interest subsidy by the government involving plantation companies as partners of the development, processing and marketing. The role of banks is quite large, but face problems of the large risks involved and the complexity of processes. Methode of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Inference System integrated in the studies conducted. In AHP Fuzzy method, based on expert opinion the weighting criteria is resulting. Weighting being input to the FIS method to determine the feasibility of plantation companies as business partners to obtain credit financing. The study results show that not only financial performance but also non-financial performance should be taken into account in determining the creditworthiness of Revitalization Plantation program.

Abstract

Development of domestic wheat is expected to be an alternative food availability in the country. Processing of wheat into flour in Bandung regency done by small-scale agro-industry business unit that still uses fairly simple processing technologies. Wheat flour agro-industry business unit is expected to develop into independent business units and professional and professionally managed with sound business-oriented features, both technical, economic, social, feasible, profitable and sustainable. Research objectives, including to (1) know the strategic factors affecting wheat flour agro industry business, (2) determine the feasibility of wheat flour agro-industry, (3) to formulate appropriate strategies in order to develop future business wheat flour agroindustry. Data collection methods used are primary data collection through field surveys and interviews. Questionnaire was spreaded to the farmers to obtain supporting data with a purposive sampling method. Secondary data collection was done through literature, documents and reports related agencies. Results of the feasibility analysis showed that from the calculation feasibility study, with an investment cost Rp105.000.000 Net Present Value (NPV): discount factor (DF) 14% USD 47,294,561; Internal Rate Return (IRR) 35,24%; Pay Back Period (PBP) 2,17 years, Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) of 1,84 and breakeven production of 19,648.37 kg. These values indicate that the business wheat flour of Agroindustry unit is feasible managed by wheat Gapoktan. Total value of the internal strategic matrix 2,802; show business wheat flour of Agroindustry unit at wheat Gapoktan has high internal factors, and total external strategic matrix of 3,013 shows the response given by wheat agroindustry flour wheat Gapoktan business unit to the external environment is high and agroindustry unit position is in second quadrant. Based on the best strategic, alternative analysis obtained by six is the most effective strategic business units conducted by the wheat flour of Agro-Industry unit (1) Conducting Fulfillment Services and Infrastructure Business Unit Agro Wheat Flour, (2) Building partnerships with the food industry while maintaining product quality, (3) increase production and productivity in the face of increasing demands wheat, (4) enhance the role of managers in developing agroindustries business unit of wheat flour, (5) Develop institutional wheat Gapoktan in the agribusiness community to address the changing culture (6). Abstract

PT “XP” in its bussiness production has produced Fish Jelly  with five types of products, there are Fish Sausage, Fish Ball, Fish Kakinaga, “Otak–otak” and Fish Finger.The main raw material that being used by PT XP for those products are surimi, fatty tuna and other fish. Some of the constraints in marketing development for Fish and Fishery products in this country are supply and demand aspect. The former constraint includes quantity and continuity, quality, selling price, definite variety of products, weak market information,  limited facilities and marketing infrastructure and not conducive business climate. Demand aspect includes low level of fish consumption, dynamic consumer preferences, weak marketing, distribution network and market strategy. Analysis method that being used in this study is Exponential Comparative Method (MPE). It’s one of the methods to get superior products. Net profit margin reflects management´s ability to generate net income. Linear Programming (LP) to achieve a single goal such as maximizing profits or minimizing cost. Other analysis, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), Matriks External Factor Evaluation (EFE) and Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) are used to analyze external and internal factors. Results of the studies obtained, the superior first product of fish finger and second product fish ball.  The maximum profits that obtained from LP Calculation is Rp 31.800/kg or Rp 31.800.000/ton, with production composition 25% fish finger dan 75% bakso ikan for favored products. PT “XP” has opportunity in fish jelly production since it has permanent distributor of raw materials, and yet has threat that is production cost increase caused by raised fuel prices and electricity fare. This company’s main strength lays on the manager’s preseverance in managing this business, while the Main Weakness of this company that is lack of capital to get supplies. The result evaluation on external and internal factor (EFE and IFE) to make the company in a quadrant agresif position, that company in a good posisition to develop the business. The company can use the internal power for: (1) make use the external opportunity; (2) to content with internal weakness; and (3) avoid the extend threats.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the magnification and technology marketing at UD Sumber Rezeki and get a new breakthrough in marketing efforts and the enlargement of catfish, determine the feasibility and efficiency of marketing efforts and the enlargement of catfish, find the prospect of catfish processed products, know the SWOT in the enlargement and marketing of catfish and determine the strategy of business development and marketing of catfish enlargement on UD Sumber Rezeki. Technology production processes carried out by following the catfish aquaculture activities at UD Sumber Rezeki Parung, West Java, and then analyzed the feasibility of their business. The analisis through qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis of IFE and EFE, Matrix IE and SWOT. Catfish farming in the UD Sumber Rezeki Parung, West Java feasible to be implemented with the value of B/C ratio > 1,26. BEP catfish production. Rp9631.76 per kg, NPV 14% on the value of Rp38,140,956, 17% IRR and PBP 3 years 9 months. Efficiency for catfish enlargement in UD Sumber Rezeki determined by the use of water by gravity, the use of probiotics to save time, use sinking feed and floating feed. Based on the IFE (2.83) and EFE (2.81), then the position at UD Sumber Rezeki phase of growth and stability and are in quadrant 5. Based on the analysis of SWOT matrix and IE matrix, then the strategy for developing UD Sumber Rezeki, Parung, West Java are (1) market penetration by selling directly to end customer, (2) diversification of catfish products and (3) improve the competence of human resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess overall operational development strategies of PD´´X "in increasing incomes and value added fruit dodol. In particular, this study aims to: (1) study the income earned PD´´X "in one bulk manufacturing, (2) study the amount of added value from the PD´´X" and the amount of value-added contribution of business income, and distribution, (3) study the relationship between the use of production factors with the resulting production and (4) to formulate business development strategies fruit dodol. The results of the study showed that the income level of cash costs, the company earn the highest revenue from pineapple dodol types of Rp 33,698,406, - per year and for the level of income is the total cost of pineapple dodol Rp 26,193,775, - with a value of revenue/cost (R/C) ratio of 1.12. The ratio of value added amounted pineapple dodol 20.15% in exchange for business owners and 66.60% 33.40% labor, dodo sirsak 18.46% registration in exchange for 63.53% of business owners and labor 36.47 %, while the ratio of value added melons dodol and strawberries are of 20.64% in exchange for business owners and 67.38% 32.62% labor. The use of all raw materials in the production process as a whole has a positive effect. This shows that all factors significantly affect the production process. Based on the analysis of marketing strategies that have been done using internal-external (IE) matrix, the position dodol product development of fruit marketing in quadrant II in the box described as the area grow and build. Strategies that can be done by the company based on weighted strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis, is as follows: (1) Maintaining a competitive product prices, (2) Opening distributor/new agents in strategic places, (3) Conducting an effective promotion and efficient, (4) Improve the performance marketing in analyzing market demand, (5) Develop and maintain product quality, (6) Expand and maintain market share was achieved, (7) Maintain the selling price in the market and (8) Improving distribution channels. Abstract

Sodium lignosulphonate is a product of isolated lignin sulphonation process using NaHSO3 as sulphonation agent. This research was proposed to produce sodium lignosulphonate , to identify and to charactirize the product as dispersant agent. The lignin sulphonation process was conducted by ratio of reactant variable (NaHSO3 and lignin) 60.32%, pH 6.03 and temperature at 90.28 OC on batch reactor. The identification was carried out by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and by Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrophotometer (LCMS). Identification using FTIR and LCMS spectrophotometer indicated that SLS produced from this study has similar characteristic with SLS standard from Aldrich (SLS-Aldrich). Performance test of SLS as dispersant materials for gypsum paste pointed out that this SLS has lower performance than SLS-Aldrich. This was caused by the purity of SLS standard, 96%. Nevertheless SLS still fulfilled the characteristic as dispersant materials for gypsum paste because it has purity of more than 80%. Keywords: lignin, sulphonation, sodium lignosulphonate, dispersant

Abstract

Ezymatic and acid hydrolysis of starch for culture media of Bacillus sp. BMN14 producing lipopeptide blosurfactantwere studied using cassava, arrowroot and sago starch. These starch bydrolysates were used as glukose substitute Inthe were to culture media of biosurfactant.producing bacteria. Starch hydrolyzed from arrowroot 73.08-83.5% andcassava 80.0-87.98% yielded glucose higher than sago 62.5-64.5%. Capability of the bacteria to produce biosurfactantrepresented as the amount of acid precipitate 0.78 g/l and surface tension of the broth 33.6 mN/rn in the culturemedium contained enzymatic hydrolyzed-starch.
