Carbon Emission Reduction Potential through Sustainable Forest Management in Forest Concession of PT Salaki Summa Sejahtera, Province of West Sumatera

A management unit (MU) of a forest concession holder implementing the sustainable forest management (SFM) principles, could be involved in reducing Emmission from Reforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and carbon trading project. The fact the strategic in implementing the REDD+ and carbon trading in MU level is still lack of pilot project and methodology. Therefore, some scenarios must be developed and tested to find out the best potential of carbon credit in MU level. The objectives of the research were: to calculate carbon credit in some SFM scenarios, to analyze of carbon trading project feasibility, and to determine carbon stock recovery period of logged over area (LOA). The result revealed that carbon stock and carbon credit of LOA was affected by timber cutting intensity.  The 6th scenario with lowest annual allowable cutting (AAC) obtained greater carbon credit and profit coming from timber harvesting income and carbon trading. In other hand, this scenario has shortest duration of carbon stock recovery period (27 years) and shorter than its cutting cycle.  In this case, the MU has to recalculate and to decrease its AAC to have highest benefits from carbon trading in the same cutting cycle period.  It will provide double benefits from carbon trading, those are contribution in achieving the SFM purposes (production, ecology, social) and climate change mitigation.Keywords: sustainable forest management, AAC, carbon stocks, recovery period, carbon trading

haracteristic of sandalwood germination is very slow,it is due to  seed coat thickness (seed coat dormancy). Boron is an important nutrient that is required to improve the seed germination and vigor. The aim of this research was to test the effectiveness of boron in various concentrations and period of soaking to speed up the seed germination. The experimental design of research was factorial in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The results of this research showed that the initial treatment of sandalwood seed in boron soaking on 400 ppm concentration could accelerate the sandalwood seed germination one week earlier with 42% germination percentage while control was 34.6%. The optimal soaking of sandalwood seeds in boron  was 24 hours.

Bio-charcoal has been used widely in agriculture and forestry, especially in seedling production. It is not only as a source of fuel energy but the charcoal can also be used as a soil amandment for improving soil properties as an effort to improve crop growth and land rehabilitation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding rice-husk charcoal amendment to Jabon seedlins  grown in the subsoil media. Treatment was provided in the form of five doses of rice-husk charcoa lthose were 0% (control), 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% (v / v) with 10 replicates, each treatment consisted of  3 units. The number of media (subsoil)treatment was 2 / 3 the volume polybag size 10 x 15 cm. Observations showed that the amandment of rice-husk charcoal to the subsoil improved significantly on height and the total dry weight (biomass) of Jabon seedlings compared to controls. The amandment of rice-husk charcoal 5% (v / v) in the subsoil produced the best growth of Jabon seedlings or increasd  from  27.42% to 65.64% for total dry weight (biomass) compared to control.

Wood shortage supply from natural forest effected the running of wood-based industry. Therefore forestry entrepreneurs began to switch from also growing tree species to fast growing tree species. Duabanga moluccana Blume is one type of native tree in Indonesia who can growing  fast and have good characteristics for industrial raw materials. Multiplication of Duabanga mollucana can be planting by seeds and also by vegetative propagation. Shoot and stem cuttings is one alternative was to obtain plantation in sufficient quantities and in sort time. The addition of plant growth regulators (Rootone - F) was expected to increase the percentage of rooted materials cuttings and the survival percentage.

Abstract: K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari is an ulama (Islamic scholar) who have international perspective without uprooted from his Javanese tradision root which grown his up. He develops Islamic ideas about teaching with local character. Learning culture from K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari thought can be grouped into two part, namely general ethic concept that contain basic values and moral that have to be build, and ethic concept in education that contain basic values and courtesy as embodiment of ethic. Abstract: A Relevance Analysis of University Graduates with World of Work. Education should be oriented to the competencies required by the workforce as a percentage of unemployment among the educated increase continuously. This study aims to examine the relevance of YSU Economic Education graduates. The study only focuses on the type of work and subjects taught. The subject of this study is the alumni of Economic Education Study Program. Sampling technique used is snowball sampling. Data collection technique using questionnaires and documentation while the technique of data analysis using descriptive analysis. The result suggests that the majority of the graduates find their first job as private a teacher, a private employee and a tutor, while current job of the most graduates are private teacher, private employee, and civil servant (teacher). The data shows that more than 50 percent of the graduates work in the education area. This implies that the relevance level based on the type of work is categorized as sufficient. Majority of the graduates teaches social science, economic, and entrepreneurship, hence it can be concluded that the relevance level based on the subjects taught is highly relevant.  Keyword: relevance of graduates, type of work, unemployment, employment  Abstrak: Analisis Relevansi Lulusan Perguruan Tinggi dengan Dunia Kerja. Pendidikan harus berorientasi pada kompetensi yang dibutuhkan oleh dunia kerja karena persentase penganggur di kalangan terdidik terus meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat relevansi (kesesuaian) lulusan Pendidikan Ekonomi UNY. Kajian hanya diarahkan pada jenis pekerjaan dan mata pelajaran yang diampu. Penelitian ini mengambil subjek alumni Prodi Pendidikan Ekonomi dari berbagai angkatan. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah snowball sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa jenis pekerjaan pertama lulusan yang paling dominan adalah guru swasta, pegawai swasta dan tenaga pengajar/tentor, sedangkan jenis pekerjaan sekarang lulusan didominasi sebagai guru swasta, pegawai swasta dan guru negeri. Tingkat relevansi dilihat dari jenis pekerjaan termasuk kategori cukup karena separo lebih lulusan bekerja di bidang pendidikan, sementara itu jika dilihat dari mata pelajaran yang diampu juga sangat relevan karena sebagian besar alumni mengajar IPS, Ekonomi dan Kewirausahaan. Kata Kunci: relevansi lulusan, jenis pekerjaan, pengangguran

Propagation Technique of Pasak Bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) Via Shoot Cutting

Pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) is a treelet growing wildly in the forests of Southeast Asia and widely used throughout the region because of its medicinal properties. Uncontrolled harvesting of wild-grown trees has led to rapid decrease of natural populations. The objective of this research was to get information about propagation technique of pasak bumi by shoot cutting and its adventitous root formation. Cutting materials were originated from 7 month aged seedling propagated by seed. Media used were combination of cocodust : ricehusk (1:1 v/v), cocodust : ricehusk (1:1v/v) and cocodust : ricehusk (2:1 v/v). Research showed that medium significantly improved secondary root length, while rooting percentage, primary root length and the number of root significantly was affected by Rootone F treatment. The microtechnique result showed that roots were first developed from the mesristematic cambium cells.Keywords: Eurycoma longifolia Jack, propagation technique, shoot cutting

KUALIFIKASI AIR TANGKI REAKTOR (ATR) KARTINI BERDASARKAN DATA DUKUNG METODA NYALASPEKTROMETRI SERAPAN ATOM (SSA) DAN ION SELECTIVE ELECTRODE (ISE). Air tangki reaktor (ATR)merupakan salah satu produk dari sistem pendingin reaktor yang sangat diperlukan pada reaktor nuklir. Jaminankualitas air tangki reaktor diperlukan agar memenuhi persyaratan yang harus dipenuhi antara lain kadar unsur-unsurFe, Mn, Mg, Na, Cr, Ca dan Cl dalam air tangki reaktor masing-masing < 1 ppm. Kadar unsur-unsur Fe, Mn, Mg, Na,Cr, dan Ca dalam ATR ditentukan dengan menggunakan metode nyala spektrometri serapan atom dan unsur Clmenggunakanmetode ion selective electrode (ISE). Kelayakan alat uji SSA dilakukan dengan melakukan kalibrasialat uji SSA menggunakan larutan Cu 2 ppm dan diperoleh kepekaan dan presisi alat uji masing-masing 0,019 ppmdan 0,65 % lebih kecil dari persyaratan masing-masing 0,4 ppm dan 1 %. Kelayakan alat uji ISE ditunjukan denganperolehan harga slope pada rentang potensial yang dipersyaratkan yaitu pada kisaran 0,56 – 0,59 mV. Diperolehdata kadar Ca dan Cl dalam ATR masing-masing 0,32 ± 0,005 ppm dan 1,052 ± 0,009 ppm, sedangkan unsur yanglain Fe, Mn, Mg, Na, dan Cr berada di bawah batas deteksi masing-masing unsur. Berdasar data tersebut dapatdisimpulkan kualitas ATR memenuhi salah satu peryaratan IAEA.

PENENTUAN KADAR Cu, Fe, Zn DALAM TANAH, TANAMAN TEH, DAUN TEH DAN MINUMAN TEH. Salah satupenyebab kerusakan kualitas tanah adalah terjadinya pencemaran Cu Fe danZn sehingga langsung maupun tidaklangsung dapat menimbulkan pencemaran tanaman yang tumbuh diatasnya antara lain tanaman teh yang selama inidigunakan masyarakat secara luas sebagai bahan pembuatan minuman teh. Pengambilan sampel tanah, akartanaman teh, daun teh, dan minuman teh dilakukan pada bulan Juni 2005 di kecamatan Keparakan, Temanggung,Jawa Tengah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar Cu Fe dan Zn di dalam tanah , akar tanamanteh, daun teh serta minuman teh. Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara sampel didigesti dengan asam nitrat pekat sampaidiperoleh larutan yang jernih kemudian diencerkan dengan akuabides sampai 10 ml. Penentuan kadar unsur Cu, Fe,dan Zn menggunakan alat AAS. Diperoleh hasil kadar rata rata Cu Fe dan Zn di dalamtanah dalam 0,155 ± 0,005ppm, 127,16 ± 2,65 ppm, dan 0,68 ± 0,02 ppm, di dalam tanah luar 0,355 ± 0,025 ppm, 360,59 ± 13,17 ppm dan 0,78± 0.01 ppm, di dalam akar tanaman teh 0,241 ± 0,098 ppm, 13,16 ± 1,34 ppm dan 2,64 ± 0,06 ppm, di dalam daun teh0,211 ± 0,013 ppm, 3,35 ± 0,886 ppm, dan 0,795 ± 0,016 ppm serta di dalam minuman teh 0,142 ± 0,086 ppm, 6,11 ±0,35 ppm dan 0,66 ± 0,02 ppm.

ABSTRAK   Tumbuhan patah tulang merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang mempunyai sifat toksik terhadap kulit dan lapisan lendir. Sifat toksik terdapat pada getahnya yang putih seperti susu. Kandungan utama getah tanaman patah tulang ini adalah phorbol ester dan ingenol ester. Seringkali, penggunaan getah tanaman patah tulang ini pada waktu dioleskan mengenai jaringan sehat di sekitar kulit yang sakit. Untuk itu, perlu dilakukan penelitian bagaimana pengaruh kerjanya dan apakah pengobatan dengan getah tanaman ini cukup aman ataukah menimbulkan kerusakan juga pada jaringan yang sehat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan histopatologis pada kulit serta mengetahui perubahan ketebalan lapisan keratin kulit setelah pemberian getah tanaman patah tulang secara topikal. Dalam penelitian ini, 6 ekor kelinci putih dibagi secara acak menjadi 3 kelompok pemberian, masing-masing kelompok pemberian terdiri dari 2 ekor yaitu kelompok pemberian 1 hari, 5 hari, dan 10 hari. Kontrol dan perlakuan terdapat pada satu individu. Pemberian getah tanaman patah tulang dilakukan rutin sekali sehari sesuai dengan kelompok pemberian. Mencatat perubahan warna kulit sebelum pembedahan. Pembedahan dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali yaitu setelah 1 hari, 5 hari dan 10 hari pemberian getah tanaman patah tulang, selanjutnya dibuat preparat kulit dengan pewarnaan hematoxilin-eosin untuk melihat struktur mikroanatomi dan perubahan histologis. Hasil penelitian  pemberian getah tanaman patah tulang secara topikal menunjukkan perubahan warna pada kelompok pemberian berupa eritem. Eritem terjadi mulai dari eritem sangat tipis hingga eritem yang sangat jelas. Dari gambaran mikroanatomi kulit terdapat hiperplasi epidermis, namun tidak ditemukan piknosis maupun nekrosis. Hiperplasi dapat dilihat terjadi peningkatan ketebalan lapisan keratin pada epidermis.   Kata kunci : Euphorbia tirucalli, histopatologis, epidermis, keratin.
