Abstract

Blood gas analysis and blood pH examinations have been carried out on 20 children suffering from severe gastroenteritis and dehydration. Ten patients were treated singly with half strength Darrow’s solution in 2.5% glucose containing potassium 17 mEq/L and lactate 26 mEq/ L as base corrector. The other 10 patients were given 3A solution (without potassium), containing lactate as base corrector as much as 53 mEq/L in the first 8 hours, followed by Darrow-Glucose (1:2) solution (with potassium).

Abstract

During 1½ years, from January 1972 until July 1973, 55 P.C.M. children hospitalised in the Department of Child Health, Medical School, University of Indonesia/Dr. Tjipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, were involved to this study. Self-prepared "Eiwit Melk (E.M.)" containing protein 2.7%, carbohydrate (lactose) 1.4%, fat 2.2% and calories 600, was used. Thirty children were treated with E.M. and 25 children as controlled, i.e. treated with E.M. + lactose 3.4% (E.M.L.). The results of the clinical trial as expressed with the increase of body weight, were excellent in 85.7% and good in 14.3%, whereas the results in the controlled group were excellent in only 9.1%, good in 36.4% and poor in 54.5%. From these excellent results, low lactose milk formula might be recommended in treating children with P.C.M.

Abstract

In spite of the many advances made in diagnosis, pathogenesis and pathophysiology of diarrhoeal diseases, however it is still one of the major public health problems with high morbidity and mortality particularly in children below 5 years of age.Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT) had been known since the 1950s but the extensive use of ORT in hospitals and treatment centres was just in the 1960s and so it had become a world-wide program since the 1970s.Nowadays more than 70 countries have used ORT as main treatment of dehydration due to diarrhoea. One of the problems of ORT being still in dispute is the Na concentration in ORS. The other extended usee of ORT is the use of sucrose electrolyte solution and sugar-salt solution by using pinch or scoops.It has been proven that ORT has a beneficial impact on improving nutrition state, saving money (economy), and dramatically decreasing mortality due to diarrhoea.National efforts to implement ORT must be part of the general program for delivery of all basic health services. It should be integrated through primary health care such as family planning, nutritional program, MCH, immunization, environmental sanitation, health education, etc.Public campaign using mass media and advertisements plays a great role too in making success of ORT.

Abstract

Amoebiasis is a widespread disease with the diffusion of the parasitevarying more with hygienic than geopraphic conditions. The incidencevaries from country to country. Soysa (1971) has estimated that ten per cent of the world-population suffers from amoebiasis. Udani et al. (1971) said that "it will not he an exaggaration to state that everyhody in a developing country either had, has or will have amoebic infection". InIndonesia, the incidence varies according to environmental, socia-economic, hygienic and sanitary conditions (Pudjiadi, 1971).

Abstract

Diarrhoea is a common feature of severe cases of malnutrition andusually pathogenic agents can not be isolated. Abnormal intestinal motility is not a primary feature of the diarrhoea iu malnourished children(James, 1968). Sugar intolerance is considered Ii common cause of diarrhoea in children with kwashiorkor admitted to hospital in Kampala(Wharton et ai., 1968). Dean (1957) originally suggested that the lactoseof milk was the cause of severe diarrhoea encountered in cases of advanced kwashiorkor.

Abstract

The use of grammatical features in academic discourse in college contains a relational value for a particular purpose. To assess the value of relational use of grammatical features, required analytical model is based on a critical paradigm, namely critical discourse analysis. Model of critical discourse analysis that is used is model analysis Fairclough that combines text analysis, discourse practice and socio-cultural practices. Realm of discourse that researched is the academic discourse i.e the research proposal seminar in college. Relational value represent dimension of social relations in academic discourse. The results showed that the relational value using by 5 features of grammar, namely (1) declarative sentence, (2) interrogative sentences, (3) imperative sentence, (4) modalities of relational, and (5) personal pronouns for the purpose of ideological and domination. The use of grammatical features of ideological and repressive conducted by moderator, keynote address, main comparators and general comparator.Penggunaan fitur gramatika dalam wacana akademik di perguruan tinggi mengandung nilai relasional untuk tujuan tertentu. Untuk mengkaji nilai relasional pada penggunaan fitur gramatika, diperlukan model analisis yang didasarkan pada paradigma kritis, yaitu analisis wacana kritis. Model analisis wacana kritis yang digunakan adalah model Fairclough yang menggabungkan analisis teks, praktik kewacanaan, dan praktik sosiokultural. Ranah wacana yang diteliti adalah wacana akademik, yakni seminar proposal penelitian di perguruan tinggi. Nilai relasional merepresentasi dimensi ‘hubungan sosial’ dalam wacana akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai relasional dilakukan dengan menggunakan 5 fitur gramatika, yakni (1) kalimat deklaratif, (2) kalimat interogatif, (3) kalimat imperatif, (4) modalitas relasional, dan (5) pronomina persona untuk tujuan secara ideologis dan dominasi. Penggunaan fitur gramatika secara ideologis dan represif tersebut dilakukan oleh moderator, pemrasaran, pembanding utama dan pembanding umum.

Abstract

This research aims to inspect poetic’s elements of poetry in KTSP and 2013’s curriculum along with education appropriate. This research use research design literature study. The research data is poetry text in KTSP and curiculum 2013 textbooks. The result indicate that rhyme and rhythm aspect is priority of old poetry. The typography more priority by contemporary poetry. This study give of new poetry and modern poetry which more focusing poetics based of imagery.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji unsur puitika dalam teks puisi buku teks pelajaran KTSP dan kurikulum 2013 serta kesesuaian pembelajarannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian kajian pustaka. Data penelitian berupa teks puisi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa unsur rima irama ditonjolkan oleh puisi lama. Unsur puitika berupa unsur tipografi ditonjolkan oleh puisi kontemporer serta puisi baru dan puisi modern menonjolkan puitika berdasarkan unsur imaji.

Abstract

Research and development aims to produce product in the form of short story training materials with character value for junior high school teachers in Bahasa subject. Used Borg and Gall model as a model for develop training materials, by adaptation eight steps of this model. The results of validation and testing shows that the product decent to be implemented to improve teacher competence in writing short stories with character value.Penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah produk berupa bahan pelatihan menulis cerita pendek bermuatan nilai karakter untuk guru SMP mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Model yang digunakan dalam pengembangan bahan pelatihan ini adalah model Borg dan Gall dengan mengadaptasi delapan langkah dalam pengembangannya. Hasil validasi dan uji produk menunjukkan bahwa produk layak untuk diimplementasikan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam menulis cerita pendek bermuatan nilai karakter.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the increasing of writing skills and learning quality with pemodelan strategy class 9th Senior High School Bina Karya Atambua. This research has been conducted in two cycle. In cycle I, the students have reached the KKM contains 6 student (40,00%). In other side, the students have not reachedthe KKM contains 9 student (60,00%). In cycle II, the students have reached the KKM contains 12 student, while the students haven’t reached the KKM 3 students. In cycle 1, the increasing of learning quality has not been reaching the target. In cycle II, the increasing of learning has been reaching the target. The results show that pemodelan strategy has effect to increasing student writing skills and the learning quality.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis cerpen dan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dengan strategi pemodelan untuk siswa kelas XC SMA Bina Karya Atambua. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Siklus I siswa yang berhasil mencapai KKM ada 6 siswa (40.00%). Siswa yang belum berhasil mencapai KKM 9 siswa (60.00%). Siklus II siswa yang berhasil mencapai KKM ada 12 siswa (81.6%). Siswa yang belum berhasil mencapai KKM 3 siswa (13.6%). Siklus I peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran belum berhasil mencapai target yang ditentukan. Siklus II peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran berhasil mencapai target yang ditentukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan menulis dan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran pada siklus I dan II mengalami peningkatan.
