Abstract

Pelagic fish are spesies that live in water column at depth of 100 to 200 meters from surface. They migrate as a group looking for nutrient and spawning place. Potential fisheries comodities in Indonesia including pelagic fish have high economic value. Then, stock assessment of pelagic fish measurement is important to researched. The research was conducted in May – June 2016 surrounding South China Sea waters using Madidihang 02 Research Vessel operated by Marine Fisheries Affair (MFA) Republic of Indonesia. To estimate the density of pelagic fish hydro-accoustic equipment and oceanography parameters were used and measured during the campaign. The split beam echosounder was use in aim to obtain precission position and number of fish target. The highest density of fish was found around Tambelan Island and Anambas Island. Statistically pelagic fish density has correlation with chlorophyll-a, salinity, temperature, and sea current velocity. The statistical analysis between pelagic fish density and those oceanography parameters (as statistic variables) yields positive vector correlation.

Abstract

Status stok merupakan salah satu dasar utama dalam merumuskan pengelolaan sumber daya ikan yang berkelanjutan di WPP NRI. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi status stok sumber daya ikan di WPP NRI dan alternatf pengelolaannya. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tahun 2015-2016 dengan menggunakan metode holistik dan analitik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan potensi sumber daya ikan di perairan Indonesia (WPP NRI) adalah sebesar 12,54 juta ton per tahun dengan potensi tertinggi sebagai ikan pelagis kecil sebesar 4,88 juta ton/tahun (39 %) dan yang terendah adalah lobster sebesar 11.159 ton (1 %). Berdasarkan WPP NRI, potensi sumber daya ikan tertinggi sebesar 2,64 juta ton (21 %) terdapat di WPP NRI 718 (Laut Aru dan Laut Arafura) dan yang terendah sebesar 425.444 ton di perairan WPP NRI 571 (Selat Malaka dan Laut Andaman). Tingkat pemanfaatan ikan di WPP NRI secara keseluruhan didominasi status fully-exploited (indikator warna kuning) sekitar 44 %, diikuti status overfishing (indikator warna merah) sekitar 38% serta status moderat sekitar 18 %. Agar sumber daya ikan di perairan WPP NRI berada dalam tahapan yang berkelanjutan, maka harus dilakukan penataan upaya penangkapan dengan mengurangi jumlah upaya penangkapan sesuai acuan upaya optimal (f.opt) pada WPP yang mengalami kondisi overfishing dan meningkatkan upaya di WPP yang tingkat pemanfaatannya masih moderat dan fully-exploited. Stock status of fish resources were a basis advices to define an apropriate fisheries management towards sustainable fish resource. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stock status of fish resources and its management alternative in FMAs. The study was conducted from 2015 to 2016 using a holistic and analytic method. Estimation of all fish potency in Indonesia marine waters was 12.54 million tons/year which the highest potency was small pelagic fish group about 4.88 million tons/year (39 %) and the lowest potency was spiny lobster group about 11,159 tons/year (1 %). Based on the FMAs, the highest potency was about 2.64 million tons/year (21 %) in FMA 718 (Aru sea and Arafura sea) and the lowest potency was about 425,444 tons/year (3 %) found in FMA 571 (Malacca strait and Andaman sea). Most of fish resources was in the condition of fully-exploited (44 % yellow color) followed by overfishing (34 % red color) and moderate (21 % green color). Fish groups which included in the highest overfishing by FMAs were squid group. Management alternatives in those prespective are suggested to decrease the fishing effort at the level of f.opt (fishing optimum) by fish groups on the FMAs experiencing overfishing accordingly and to increase an effort at the level of f opt for fish groups on the FMAs in the fully exploited and moderate condition

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study about species composition, distribution, and stock density of deep sea demersal fish in the southern Java of the Indian Ocean EEZ waters. This research was carried out based on data collected from the survey conducted between September and October 2004 using Baruna Jaya IV research vessel.  This study was basically conducted by applying swept area method with stratified random sampling.  The result showed that the species composition of deep sea demersal fish in southern of Java waters were consisted of 169 fishes, 31 crustaceans and 20 cephalopods and the catch of deep sea demersal fish was dominated by ashiro (Ophidiidae) about 45 % and hair tail (Trichiurus lepturus) about 22 %. The widest of species distribution of these resources in southern of Java waters was Chlorophtalmus nigromarginatus. The highest abundance of deep sea resources were caught on the depth of 700-1100 m and the lowest on the depth 200-400 m. Stock density of these resources in southern off Java waters was ranged from 794-39863 kg/km².

Abstract

The research was mainly carried out to know nutrition composition and antibacterial potency of deep sea fish in south Java sea. Results showed that protein, fat, ash, and moisture contents of deep sea fish, Coelorincus longissimus, Coryphaenoides sp., Pereichthydae, Ophidiidae sp., Nomeidae, Satyrrichtys welchi, Dropus pragillis, Parascolopsis sp., Glytophidian sp., Hydrolagus sp., Ophidiidae, and one of unidentified species were 11.13-18.21%, 1.03-7.72%, 0.67-3.93%, and 70.70-86.30%, respectively. Nomeidae, S. welchi,. Parascolopsis sp., Hydrolagus sp., Ophidiidae, Pereichthydae, and one of unidentified species contained 17 amino acids with 9 essensial and 8 nonessensial amino acids. The essensial amino acids included histidine, arginine, threonine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, phenylalanine and lysine. The nonessensial amino acid were aspartic acid, glutamic acid, serine, glycine, alanine, proline, tyrosine, dan cysteine. Antibacterial experiment showed that meat extracts of Nomeidae, S. welchii, Parascolopsis sp. exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus at 700 ppm with 0.25-2 mm of inhibitor zones. Meat extract of Nomeidae, S. welchii, Parascolopsis sp., Hydrolagus sp. at the same concentra-tion also produced 0.5-5 mm inhibition zones against Eschericia coli. Meat extract of S. welchii at 1,000 ppm produced 36 and 30 mm inhibition zones against S. aureus and E. coli, respectively.

Abstract

The slimeheads (Hoplosfefhus spp.) provide one of the likely economic important deep sea demersal fish resources in the near future. The fish was caught in western part of Sumatera, in the depth of more than 500 m deep, and was found in substantial amount in the deep waters around Simeuleu lsland and the western off Banda Aceh. Data analysis was limited to the biological aspects, including length relationship, and maturity.

Abstract

Bigeye tuna is an important fish resource in the Indian Ocean. This species like other tuna species needs to be managed properly in both national and international levels. Therefore some data and information on population structure and bioreproduction are required for management purpose. The current research was conducted to identify the population structure and bioreproduction of bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) in west off Sumatera and south off Java and Nusa Tenggara of Indian Ocean where tuna fishing spots are important. This research was based on catch landed by fishermen from the Indian Ocean during 2010. Analysis of population structure was done using DNA genetic analyses and bioreproduction by using histology technique. Results show that the population structure of the bigeye tuna in the Indian Ocean consisted of two different sub populations namely sub population of west off Sumatra and sub population of south of Java and Nusa Tenggara waters. Most of catch (about 39%) was categorized as immature fish (GI I). The immature fish was mostly found in west off Sumatera waters, meanwhile the catch in south off Java and Nusa Tenggara waters was mostly categorized as mature fish. This result may indicate that south off Java and Nusa Tenggara waters is a spawning ground of the bigeye tuna.

Abstract

Scientific advices on population dynamic of banana prawn (P. merguiensis de Man) are required as an input to support an apropriate fisheries management. This study aims to identify the population parameters of the banana prawn in Tanah Laut waters. The study was conducted in Tanah Laut based on monthly enumeration data (January to November 2016). Results has been shown that the length size of carapace at first maturity of banana prawn was 43.39 mm. Sex ratio of males and females was 1 : 0.8. The chi square test indicated that comparison of male and female of the banana prawn was significantly different. It means that there was not balance in number between males and females. The spawning season of banana prawn in Tanah Laut waters happened throughout year and reached the peak on November (south-east monsoon). The growth parameter of banana prawn was 1.05/year with maximum carapace length (Loo) of 55.0 mm. Instantaneous total mortality (Z) and natural mortality (M) were 6.05/year and 1.58/year, respectively. While fishing mortality (F) and exploitation rate (E) respectively were 4.47/year and 0.74/year respectively. The exploitation rate of banana prawn in Tanah Laut waters was high. Therefore, fishing effort of the banana prawn in that waters should be reduced to about 48 % for next coming year.

Abstract

The effects of Indian Ocean Dipole Mode and El Niño–Southern Oscillation events on catches of YellowfinTuna (Thunnus albacares) in the Eastern Indian Ocean (EIO) off Java were evaluated through the use of remotely sensed environmental data (sea surface temperature/SST and chlorophyll-a concentration/SSC) and Yellowfin Tuna catch data. Analyses were conducted for the period of 2003–2012, which included the strong positive dipole mode event in association with weak El-Nino 2006.Yellowfin Tuna catch data were taken from Palabuhanratu landing place and remotely sensed environmental data were taken from MODIS-Aqua sensor.The result showed that regional climate anomaly Indian Ocean Dipole Mode influenced Yellowfin Tuna catch and its composition. The catches per unit effort (CPUE) of Thunnus alabacares in the strong positive dipole mode event in 2006 and weak El-Nino events in 2011 and 2012 was higher. The increase patern of CPUE followed the upwelling process, started from May-June achieved the peak between September-October.Very high increase in CPUE when strong positive dipole mode event (2006) and a weak El-Nino events (2011 and 2012) had a relation with the increase in the distribution of chlorophyll-a indicating an increase in the abundance of phytoplankton (primary productivity) due to upwelling. In contrast, yellowfin tuna CPUE is very low at the La-Nina event (2005), though as the dominant catch when compared to others.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan dinamika populasi udang putih (Penaeus merguiensis de Man) di perairan Kotabaru dan sekitarnya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di perairan Kotabaru dan sekitarnya dari bulan April-Nopember 2006. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dengan aplikasi model analitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa musim pemijahan udang putih berlangsung sepanjang tahun dengan puncak musim pada bulan September. Laju pertumbuhan (K) udang putih 1,40/tahun dan panjang karapas maksimum (Loo ) sebagai 44,3 mm. Laju kematian total (Z) udang putih 4,52/tahun dan laju kematian alamiah 1,96/tahun, sementara itu laju kematian karena penangkapan (F) 2,56/tahun, serta laju pengusahaan (E) sekitar 0,56/tahun. Laju pengusahaan udang putih sudah berada dalam keadaan jenuh (fully exploited) dan cenderung sudah mengarah pada tekanan penangkapan yang berlebih (overfishing), oleh karena itu disarankan untuk mengurangi tekanan penangkapan sekitar 12% dari jumlah upaya yang ada saat ini. The purpose of the study was to identify the population dynamic of the banana prawn (P.merguiensis de Man) in Kotabaru waters.
