Abstract

Penelitian aspek reproduksi dan daerah pemijahan udang jari (Metapenaeus elegans) di perairan SegaraAnakan Cilacap, dilakukan sejak Maret sampai Desember 2004. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui beberapa aspek reproduksi dan pengkajian musim dan daerah pemijahan udang M. elegans di perairan Segara Anakan. Metode peneltian yang digunakan survei post facto. Daerah penelitian dibedakan menjadi 3 wilayah perairan. Penentuan zona berdasarkan dua aspek, yaitu aspek ekologis dan aspek daerah penangkapan (fishing ground) alat tangkap apong. Pada setiap zona ditentukan tiga lokasi sampling. Sampel udang pada setiap stasiun diambil 30 ekor udang betina terbesar, sehingga terkumpul 270 ekor udang sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa M. elegans memijah sepanjang tahun, dengan dua puncak musim pemijahanyaitu bulan April/Mei dan November/Desember. Daerah pemijahan udang jari (M. elegans) adalah perairan laguna bagian tengah. Meskipun pada lokasi pemijahan terjadi pendangkalan akibat laju sedimentasi yang tinggi dan menjadikan perairan keruh serta kondisi salinitas yang berfluktuasi tinggi, namun pemijahan tetap terjadi di perairan tersebut.Kata kunci : aspek reproduksi, daerah pemijahan, udang jari, laguna Segara Anakan.Study on the reproduction and spawning ground of Metapenaeus elegans in Segara Anakan Lagoon Cilacap  was conducted from March to December 2004. This study was aimed at investigating some reproductiveaspects and to discover the spawning ground M. elegans. The research was used survey post facto method. The researh area was divided into three waters zone. The zone was determinated based on two aspect, i.e. ecological aspect and fishing ground aspect. Three sampling station determined of each zone. The shrimp  sample was taken from three unit apong (set net) cathces. 30 biggest male shrimp were took off from in each, so 270 male shrimp collected. The result showed that M. elegans spawned along the year with two peaks of spawning season, i.e. April/May and November/December. Spawning ground of fine shrimp (M. elegans) was found in lagoon waters, despite high turbidity, high sedimentation rate and high salinityfluctuation in the water.Key words: reproduction aspect, spawning ground, M. elegans, Segara Anakan Lagoon.

Abstract

Historically, the health of aquatic systems was monitored primarily through chemical means. However, chemical monitoring provides only a "snapshot" of conditions at the time of sampling and may fail to detect acute pollution events (e.g. runoff from heavy rain, spills), non-chemical pollution (e.g. habitat alteration) and non-point source pollution. In order to address the shortcomings of chemical monitoring, the biological monitoring could be used and more accurately reflect the health of ecosystem. Biological monitoring is based on the premise that biological communities are shaped by the long-term conditions of their environment and more accurately reflect the health of an ecosystem.

Abstract

Penelitian dinamika populasi udang jari (Metapenaeus elegans) dilakukan di Laguna Segara Anakan Cilacap Jawa Tengah berdasarkan data frekuensi panjang karapas, sejak Februari sampai Desember 2004. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa ukuran udang jari pertama tertangkap apong (lc) pada panjang karapas 14.5 mm. Pertumbuhan allometrik negatif (b < 3). Panjang karapas takhingga (L∞) adalah 42.6 mm, denganindeks kurva pertumbuhan (K) sebesar 1.3/tahun dan to=-0,017 tahun. Waktu terjadinya pertumbuhan maksimum (tmb) pada umur 0.59 tahun, pada panjang karapas 23 mm. Laju kematian total (Z) sebesar 8.19/tahun, laju kematian alami (M) sebesar 1.43/tahun dan laju kematian penangkapan (F) adalah 6.76/tahun. Puncak penambahan baru terjadi pada bulan Juni, yaitu sebesar 17.86%. Laju pengusahaan (E) sebesar 0.83/tahun,menunjukan tingkat pengusahaan berlebih atau terjadi growth-overfishing, sehingga perlu pengendalian eksploitasi.Kata Kunci: dinamika populasi, udang jari (Metapenaeus elegans), Laguna Segara Anakan.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the reproductive biology of Ompok hypophthalmus included gonadal development stages and spawning season.The study was conducted from June to December 2006 in floodplain of Kampar Kiri River. Samplings were carried out monthly with purposive sampling method. Fish samples were cathed by gillnet, trapnet, hand line and long line. A total of 474 individuals were captured ranged 80-310 mm in total length and 2-143 g in weight. The female and male reached sexual maturity at 115 mm and 214 mm in total length respectively. The spawning season for this species ranges from June to December where a peak season found in October which examined based on variations in gonado somatic index (GSI) and the existence of mature male and females. The fecundity varied from 688-15180 eggs. The correlation coefficient between fecundity with total length and fecundity with weight were very weak. It lead to suggested that the coefficient cannot be used to predict O. hypophthalmus fecundity.

Abstract

Eksternalitas dapat diartikan sebagai dampak dari suatu kegiatan tertentu terhadap kegiatan lainnya. Dalam konteks pengelolaan sumberdaya perairan, eksternalitas sangat penting diketahui mengingat hal tersebut dapat menyebabkan terjadinya alokasi pemanfaatan sumberdaya yang tidak efisien dan selanjutnya mempengaruhi kinerja keberlanjutan pemanfaatannya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian bertujuan mengkaji eksternalitas dan status keberlanjutan perikanan pada sumberdaya perairan waduk di waduk Jatiluhur. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan Juli-Desember 2009. Secara spesifik, kegiatan penelitian difokuskan untuk mendapatkan data dinamika pengelolaan perikanan, eksternalitas dan status keberlanjutan pola pengelolaan perikanannya. Studi kasus digunakan pada penelitian ini. Data primer diperoleh melalui survei lapang dan data sekunder diperoleh melalui penelusuran dan kajian literatur terkait topik penelitian. Metoda analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan tabulatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menyajikan gambaran dinamika pengelolaan perikanan yang ada. Eksternalitas dan status keberlanjutan pola pengelolaan perikanan yang ada dieksplorasi berdasarkan lima pelaku pemanfaat yang teridentifikasi, yaitu perikanan tangkap, perikanan budidaya, wisata pemancingan, transportasi dan manajemen waduk. Keberlanjutan bagi pemanfaatan perikanan waduk dapat terjamin apabila pelaku usaha melakukan optimalisasi sesuai dengan daya dukung perairan bagi perikanan budidaya dan menjalankan pilihan pengelolaan perikanan tangkap dalam bentuk penerapan alat dan metoda penangkapan yang ramah lingkungan, penebaran ikan yang dapat memanfaatkan kesuburan perairan. Hasil kajian dapat digunakan oleh otoritas pengelola waduk sebagai rujukan bagi rumusan kebijakan pengelolaan perikanan di waduk Jatiluhur. Tittle: Externality and Sustainablity of Fisheries in the Jatiluhur ReservoirExternality can be defined as an impact of a certain activity to other activity. In the context of fisheries resource management, externality is important to understand due to its impact on in-efficiency resource allocation, and hence, affecting to the sustainable use of the resource. Therefore, research aimed at exploring externalities and sustainability status of fisheries in the Jatiluhur reservoir was carried out during July – December 2009. Specifically, the research was focused to find the dynamic pattern of fisheries related activities, externalities and sustainability status of the fisheries management pattern. Case study method was used in this study. Primary and secondary data were used in this study. Primary data were collected through field survey while secondary data were collected through literatures review on the relatedtopic of the study. Analyses were carried out descriptively both qualitative and tabulative data and information. Results of the study show dynamic illustration of the fisheries management practices in the Jatiluhur reservoir resource. Externalities and sustainability status of fisheries management pattern were explored based on five players being identified, namely capture fishery, aquaculture, sport fishing, transportation and reservoir management. Sustainability of each activity could be maintained if fish farmers operate cage culture optimally in accordance with the carrying capacity of the resource while fishery management implements the appropriated fishing gears and methods as well as stocking recommended species of fish to utilize the abundance of natural food. The results can be used by management authority as a basis for formulating policy and strategy fisheries management practice in the Jatiluhur reservoir.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explaine biology aspect of sardine (Sardinella longiceps) that is reproductive biology (sex ratio, gonad maturity, fecundity and spawning season) and growth (growth parameter, length-weight relationship and condition factor). The study was conducted in Sibolga bay during one mounth (August-September 1999). Sex ratio of sardine is balanced. The fish in condition immature most few than mature fish. Fecundity is between 28.973 - 93.573 eggs, with spawning season in July-August. Growth model L =317,6 {1 - e" "-21

Abstract

This study was conducted to reveal the utilization of food resources by fishes that were dominant at Ir. H. Djuanda Reservoir by using food habit and niche breadth analysis. Fish sampling was done from May to October 2003 in four stations of Ir. H. Djuanda Reservoir including its outlet. Stomach content analysis was conducted at laboratorium of Animal Ecology, Center for Biological Sciences IPB, while the plankton analysis was conducted at Research Station of Fish Stock Enhancement in Jatiluhur. It was found that there were four dominant fish species (Astronotus ocellatus, Amphilophus citrinellus t Oreochromis niloticus, Chanos chanos) exsisting in this reservoir. A. ocellatus and A. citrinellus were omnivorous, but C. chanos could be grouped as herbivorous. The plankton species that were found in their stomach were Coelastrum sp., Siaurastrumsp., Pediastrum sp., and Cosmarium sp. O. niloticus had the highest value of niche breadth, while C. chanos had the lowest value of this. It was also found that niche overlap between A. ocellatus and A. citrinellus, was the highest, while that between A. citrinellus and C. chanos was the lowest.

Abstract

This research aim to describe the food habits of Thynnichthys polylepis. Research location is situated in Koto Panjang Reservoir. The research was conducted in March, June, and December 2007. Fishes were captured using experimental gillnet with mesh sizes of 1.5; 2,0; 2.5; and 3.0 inch. The results showed that the composition of food was comprises of six classes, such as Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Desmidium, Dinophyceae, Protozoa, and Rotifera, with genus of Peridinium (Dinophyceae) as main food. Male and female fishes consumed relative similar food on pursuant to time, area, and length. The niche overlap of food between male and female fishes was high.

Abstract

An investigation biology of reproduction of snakehead fish (Channa striata Bloch) in flood area of Musi river, South Sumatera; has been done from July until December 2002. The fish samples were collected from the fisherman. The investigation included the measuring of the length and weight of 50 samples monthly, also gonad observation. The result is; snakehead fish, spawned a long the year with the first size of maturity for female is 180 mm, and male is 154 mm. The Gonado-Somatic Index varied from 0.014.83%, fecundity ranged from 1141-16486 eggs, and diameter ranged is between 0.65-1.34 mm. The regulation of using fishing gear, the way of catch, and provisioning conservation area for snakehead fish, represented the effort to keep snakehead fish population naturally. AbstrakHasil penelitian biologi reproduksi ikan gabus (Channa striata Bloch) pada daerah paparan banjir sungai Musi, Sumatera Selatan, telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli-Desember 2002. Sampel ikan dikumpulkan dari nelayan. Penelitian mencakup pengukuran panjang dan berat bulanan dari 50 ekor, juga pengamatan gonad. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan gabus bertelur sepanjang tahun dengan ukuran pertama matang kelamin untuk betina 180 mm dan jantan 154 mm. Indeks kematangan gonad bervariasi antara 0,01-4,83%, kisaran fekunditas antara 1,141-16,486 butir, kisaran diameter telur antara 0,65-1,34 mm. Peraturan tentang penggunaan alat tangkap ikan. Cara penangkapan dan penentuan area konservasi untuk ikan gabus, digambarkan dari hasil tangkapan ikan dari populasi di alam.
