Abstract

Egg production of quails depends on quality of ration. Nutrient manipulation by chromiun inclusion in ration is a possible way to improve production.  It is known that chromium mineral in form of GTF in blood has a role not only in enhancement of glucose entering cells through improvement of insulin activity but also in metabolism of lipid and synthesis of protein and elimination of heat stress to improve egg production. This study aimed at assessing egg production of quails fed ration containing chromium-yeast.  Sixty-four quails aged 40 days were used. A completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replication was applied in this study. Treatment consisted of commercial ration + Cr 0 ppm (R1), commercial ration + Cr 0.5 ppm (R2), commercial ration + Cr 1 ppm (R3), and commercial ration+ Cr 1.5 ppm (R4). Measurements were taken on feed intake, egg weight, egg mass production, hen day, feed conversion rate, egg index, and egg shell thickness.  Results showed that A ration containing organic chromium as much as 1,5 ppm did not affect feed intake, egg production, egg weight, and eggshell thickness, however lowered feed conversion rate by up to 32.25% from that of control. Supplementation of  0,5 ppm chromium in the ration lowered the value of eggs index in the fourth week. Key Words: Quail, Egg Production, Chromium-Yeast

Abstract

Ginger and turmeric can be used as feed additive in the quail’s rations. An active substance in this Zingiberaceae family has good benefits for animals, especially quails. A research on the Quail Performance at the Starter-Grower Period fed commercial feed with the addition of ginger and turmeric had been conducted over the past five weeks. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of feed additive (ginger and turmeric flour) on the quail’s performance since the starter period up to the grower period. The data were 240 two day old quails. The experimental design used was a Complete Random Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications, i.e. P0: feed controls without any addition, P1: addition of 1% ginger flour; P2: the addition of 1% turmeric flour; P3: the addition of 0.5% ginger flour plus 0.5% turmeric flour. The observed variables were the consumption of rations, body weights, FCR, mortality and depletion. The results showed that each of the treatment was not significantly different or had no effect on the performance of quails at the starter-grower period. It is necessary to do similar research by increasing the percentages administered to each of the treatments, so that the effect of administering the feed additive; i.e. ginger flour and turmeric flour can be obtained.

Abstract

The torch ginger (Etlingera elatior) is a herbaceous plant the flower of which is commonly used in feed to improve the quality of meat. This study was aimed at assessing the effects of giving commercial feed non-carcass portions of local ducks. The study was conducted at the Poultry Farm of Department of Animal Husbandry Djuanda University, Bogor, from June to August 2016. Twenty four 2-week-old male local ducks were used. Completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replicates was used. The treatments consisted of 100% of commercial ration (R0), commercial ration + 2.5% of TGE solution (R1), commercial ration + 5% of TGE solution (R2), and commercial ration + 7.5% of TGE solution (R3). The feeding trial lasted 6 weeks after which the ducks were slaughtered and carcass weight, dressing percentages and carcass parts were measured. The percentage of non-carcass parts including head, neck, shank, liver, heart, gizzard, feathers, blood and intestines were also measured. No significant effect of treatments (P > 0.05) on all parameters measured were found. It was concluded that the inclusion of TGE solution in commercial ration up to 7.5% did not significantly affect the live weight, weight and percentages of non-carcass parts including blood, feathers, head, neck, shank, liver, gizzard, heart, and intestines.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang performa domba lokal yang diberi ransum rumput lapang dan ampas tahu dengan imbangan berbeda telah dilakukan selama satu bulan untuk mengetahui rasionya yang optimal untuk menghasilkan performa domba lokal terbaik. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan perlakukan sebagai berikut: 1) 100% rumput lapang 2)25% rumput lapang + 75% ampas tahu 3) 50% rumput lapang + 50% ampas tahu, 4) 75% rumput lapang + 25% ampas tahu. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa domba lokal yang diberi ransum 75% rumput lapang + 25% ampas tahu memperlihatkan konsumsi ransum yang sama dengan (P>0,05), konversi ransum yang lebih baik (P<0,05), dan pertambahan panjang badan yang lebih tinggi (P<0,05) daripada domba lokal yang diberi rumput lapang 100%. Lebih daripada itu, ransum 75% rumput lapang+25% ampas tahu merupakan ransum yang lebih efisien, baik secara teknis maupun ekonomis bagi ternak domba lokal betina yang dipelihara dalam kondisi tradisional.

Abstract

Kulit kopi adalah salah satu limbah pengolahan kopi yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji respon performa pertumbuhan domba lokal yangmendapat pakan tepung kulit kopi. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan AcakLengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, Perlakuan terdiri atas: R0 : Rumput lapang 70%+ 30% konsentrat tanpa tepung kulit; R1 : Rumput Lapang 70% + 30% konsentrat dengan tepungkulit kopi 5% ; R2 : Rumput lapang 70% + 30% konsentrat dengan tepung kulit kopi 10% ; R3 :Rumput lapang 70% + 30% konsentrat dengan tepung kulit kopi 15%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanpemberian tepung kulit kopi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi bahan kering dan proteinkasar serta pertumbuhan bobot badan, lingkar dada dan pertumbuhan tinggi pundak, tetapiberpengaruh terhadap konsumsi serat kasar, lemak kasar dan TDN) serta pertambahan panjangbadan. Sehingga pemberian ransum tepung kulit kopi tidak memberikan hasil yang signifikanterhadap performa ternak, namun pemberian tepung kulit kopi sebanyak 5% menghasilkan IOFCpaling tinggi dan efisiensi pakan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Bungkil inti sawit digunakan sebagai pakan ternak, berpotensi besar menggantikan sebagian bahan pakan pada ransum komesial. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi energi metabolis ransum mengandung bungkil inti sawit pada ayam kampung. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan menggunakan sebanyak 16 ekor ayam kampung disusun secara acak menjadi 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah R0= Pemberian pakan komersil tanpa penambahan bungkil inti sawit;  R1= Pemberian pakan komersil dengan penambahan 10 % bungkil inti sawit; R2= Pemberian pakan komersil dengan penambahan 15 % bungkil inti sawit; R3= Pemberian pakan komersil dengan penambahan 20 % bungkil inti sawit. Peubah yang diamati terdiri dari energi metabolis dan kecernaan ransum ayam kampong dengan menggunakan metoda indikator Cr2O3. Hasil penelitian  menggunakan metode indikator menunjukan bahwa tepung bungkil inti sawit tidak erpengaruh nyata   pada energi metabolis, dan  kecernaan ransum. Namun pada kecernaan lemak kasar, menunjukan bahwa penambahan tepung bungkil inti sawit sangat berpengaruh nyata (P<0,01).KATA KUNCI: ayam kampung, tepung bungkil inti  sawit, energi metabolis  THE INFLUENCE OF COMMERCIAL FEED SUBSTITUTION FOR CAKE FLOUR BY PALM KERNEL OF ENERGY RATION DIGESTIBILITY AND METABOLIS FREE-RANGE CHICKENABSTRACTPalm kernel for cake which is used as animal feed, potentially replacing big feed ingredients in commercial rations. This research was conducted to evaluate the energy metabolis rations contain palm kernel for cake on a free-range chicken. Draft research using randomized complete design with the use of as many as 16 free-range chickens randomly arranged into 4 treatments and 4 replicates. The treatment used is R0 = feeding a commercial without the addition of palm kernel for cake;  R1 = feeding a commercial with the addition of 10% for cake palm kernel; R2 = feeding a commercial with the addition of 15% for cake palm kernel; R3 = feeding a commercial with the addition of 20% for cake palm kernel. The observed variables are composed of energy and digestibility of metabolis free-range chicken rations using indicators of Cr2O3. The results of research using the method of indicator showing that palm kernel for cake flour has no effect on the real energy ration digestibility and metabolis. However, on a rough fat digestibility showed that the addition of palm kernel for cake flour is very influential real (P < 0.01).

Abstract

Research on Influence of Egg Shape and Egg Weight on Characteristic of  Quilted Egg (Coturnix coturnix japonica) has been done for one month, this research aim to know the influence of egg shape and egg weight to fertility, hatchability,  hatching weight, and sex in bird Quail and can select good egg weight to hatch. This study used quail eggs (Coturnix coturnix japonica), as many as 216 grains divided into two groups. Each is a group with an egg shape (pointed, semi-pointed, and round) and group with egg weight (mild, moderate, and severe). The hatching machine used is semi-automatic hatching machine, before the egg is inserted into the hatching machine is done selection that includes egg shape and egg weight, egg shape selection is done by measuring the width and length of eggs using sliding and egg weight is done by weighing the eggs with scales digital. The first factor is egg form with three levels, A1 (egg taper = 75 - 78,12%), A2 (semi-pointed egg = 79,59 - 82,11%), and A3 (round = 82,78 - 86,76 %). While the second factor is the egg weight of three levels namely B1 (light weight = 9 - 10 grams), B2 (Medium weight = 11-12 grams) and B3 (Weight = 13-14 grams). Of the 2 factors with three levels were obtained 9 treatment combinations of each treatment repeated 4 times, each repetition consisted of 6 grains. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) 3 x 3 factorial pattern for fertility variables, hatchability, hatching weight and percentage of male sex. The results showed that the eggs did not give a significant effect on fertility, hatchability, hatching and sex weights, whereas for egg weight only had a significant effect on hatch and percentage of male sex.

Abstract

Rendahnya produktivitas kambing perah di peternakan rakyat disebabkan karena tata kelola peternakan yang masih minim,dan belum masuknya teknologi dalam manajemen seperti teknologi pakan, reproduksi, dan teknologi hasil ternak. Desa Sukamanah memiliki potensi untuk pengembangan kambing perah karena didukung oleh luas lahan dan cuaca yang cocok untuk budidaya ternak perah dan ketersediaan tenaga kerja. Namun peternak di desa ini masih belum memahami bagaimana manajemen yang baik. Pelatihan dalam bentuk penyuluhan dan praktik langsung mengenai  manajemen budidaya kambing perah dan perbaikan kandang kambing perah telah dilakukan di desa Sukamanah.  Petani peternak antusias mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan. Training in the form of counseling and direct practice on dairy goat farming management and improvement of dairy cages has been done in Sukamanah village. Farmer farmers enthusiastically follow the extension activities. Extension materials are largely understandable because they are used to nurturing dairy goats and have a desire to develop and improve skills.

Abstract

Tingkat stress pada ternak akan mempengaruhi produksi telur. Unsur Cr berperan dalam proses metabolisme serta penting dalam fungsi kekebalan tubuh  dan mencegah stress. Peningkatan produksi telur dapat dilakukan dengan cara memanipulasi nutrisi ransum dengan menggunakan kromium. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan kromium (Cr) organik dalam ransum terhadap performa produksi itik alabio. Ternak yang digunakan adalah 24 ekor itik alabio fase layer. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Ransum yang digunakan yaitu pakan komersil + Cr 0 ppm (R1), ransum komersil + 0,75 ppm (R1), dan pakan komersil + Cr1,5 ppm (R2). Peubah yang diamati adalah produksi telur, bobot telur, konsumsi ransum, dan konversi ransum. Pemberian ransum yang mengandung kromium organik dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh terhadap produksi telur, bobot telur, dan konsumsi ransum tetapi berpengaruh terhadap konversi ransum.
