Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1) To understand the character of Gatotkaca characters in wayang kulit Surakarta style. (2) To investigate the symbolic meaning of Gatotkaca fashion clothing in Surakarta style puppetry. This study uses qualitative descriptive to present the existing data in the field by way of describing and interpreting. Technique of collecting data is done by interview and direct observation. The results of this study are: (1) Gatotkaca figure represents a humble character, and he has a high spirit of nationalism, (2) Gatotkaca has dress properties such as of Caping Basunanda, Kotang Antra Kusuma, and Trompah Padakacarma, which represent as the key values in character education. Gatotkaca?s personal characteristics and his dress property have a deep meaning and values that can be precious for character education. Keywords: Gatotkaca, puppet, character education.

Abstract

This paper shows that the form and structure of a traditional Javanese house joglo is a transformation from loro blonyo sculptures representing a pair of human figures. This pair of statues and also the traditional Javanese house are basically a manifestation of the Javanese way of life that emphasizes harmony and unity of values between two different worlds such as men and women, physical and spiritual, and macrocosm and microcosm.

Abstract

This study investigates symbols on tradition ritual to commemorate the day of birth or bancaan weton in Javanese tradition. Symbols are associated with daily practices for moral and social contexts. This study used ethnography with phenomenological setting for the data collection.  Qualitative approach was used to analyze the data.  The study assigned informants from Kasunanan Surakarta, Mangkunegaran, traditional chief, ulama, and culture practitioners.  The study discovers that bancaan weton symbolizes harmony, tolerance, and implementation of moral, social, spiritual and religious valaues.  In abstract form, values of bancaan weton originate from Javanese Moral Teaching and spiritual philosophy of conducting harmony and balance between the man and God the Almigthy.  The tradition squarely undertakes genuine teaching values of Javanese, however, the existence may dilute as pride to prevent the tradition by Javanese themselves may lax.

Abstract

This research tends to highlight the symbolic and philosophic values of Purwo shadow puppets. Most of the study themes though emphasize its exhibition. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the process of ongoing cultural art value of carving decoration in Wonogiri, in an effort to preserve the presence of Purwo shadow puppets. This case study was conducted in Kepuhsari village, Manyaran, Wonogiri, a village considered as the Purwo shadow puppets center long since generations before until now. This research uses a qualitative approach based a fixed distinct strategy. Data were collected through open interviews, observations and analysis of the documents/record contents. Then, they were analyzed using an interactive model starting from its collection, reduction process, then presentation and verification cycle. The results showed that the art value of carving decoration of Purwo shadow puppet in Wonogiri remains indelible and continues to exist until today since it has harmoniously been nurtured / cultured in a continuous way, whether in formal or non-formal education. Informal education implies learning activities undertaken at the master‟s, who is very knowledgeable in carving decoration, which tends to be social and freely performed at his home. Whereas formal ones, regarding civilizing value of carving decoration, take place at schools, where its materials are technically integrated at local culture programs and extra-curricular activities which are contracted in a planned but scheduled as well as cultivated by appointed instructors.

Abstract

Sejak diberlakukan Kurikulum 2013 yang berbasis teks, sebagian materi pembelajaran mengalami perubahan tak terkecuali dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama. Siswa dituntut untuk menguasai empat aspek kebahasaan dan kesastraan yaitu keterampilan memyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis. Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan penulis di kelas VII-B SMP Negeri 5 Kediri, penulis menemukan contoh penerapan keterampilan menulis yang dilakukan siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi. Dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi, guru menggunakan metode ceramah dalam menyampaikan materi struktur teks beserta jenis-jenis teks eksposisi. Selama proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode ini, awalnya siswa sangat antusias mengikuti materi demi materi  yang disampaikan oleh guru, namun karena siswa hanya menyimak saja dan tidak ada aktifitas apapun makan dapat dikatakan pembelajaran ini cenderung membosankan. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan sebagian siswa mengantuk dan lebih asyik sendiri berbicara dengan teman yang lain. Ini menjadi persoalan yang harus segera diatasi oleh guru, terutama guru bahasa Indonesia agar lebih kreatif dan inovatif dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan cara menggunakan model-model pembelajaran yang kini sudah lebih mudah di akses oleh guru, serta menggunakan media pembelajaran yang sebagian sudah disiapkan oleh sekolah. Tentu saja dengan memaksimalkan sarana dan prasarana yang ada guru dapat membuat pembelajaran lebih menarik lagi agar terciptas suasana yang menyenangkan agar siswa antusias dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran yang tujuannya siswa dapat lebih memahami materi yang diajarkan oleh guru. Kata Kunci: Kurikulum 2013, Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, Teks Eksposisi, Metode Ceramah

Abstract

Masyarakat Jawa, tak terkecuali masyarakat Ponorogo seringkali memiliki kebiasaan-kebiasaan tertentu yang dilakukakan. Kebiasaan-kebiasaan ini diwariskan secara turun temurun hingga menjadi sebuah tradisi. Tradisi ziarah makam Bathara Katong merupakan salah satunya. Tradisi ini dilakukan oleh masyarakat Ponorogo dan sekitarnya sejak zaman dahulu. Bathara Katong merupakan tokoh sentral dalam penyebaran agama Islam. Pada saat itu terjadi transisi antara agama lama dan baru dari segala aspek. Transisi inilah yang menjadikan akulturasi budaya diantara kedua hal tersebut. Akulturasi budaya ini juga merambah bidang kesenian di area sekitar makam, misalnya munculnya kesenian Jemblung yang merupakan akulturasi antara dua kebudayaan menjadi satu. Selain kesenian, akulturasi juga dapat ditemukan di arsitektur bangunan-bangunan, proses ziarah, serta benda-benda yang dibawa oleh peziarah makam Bathara Katong. Nama Bathara Katong sendiri sebenarnya merupakan sebuah akulturasi kebudayaan. Hanya saja dikarenakan mengikuti perkembangan zaman, tradisi ini juga mengalami perubahan-perubahan dalam akulturasinya. Artikel ini akan mencoba mengupas hal tersebut.Javanese are no exception Ponorogo people have certain habits. This habit is passed down from generation to generation and then becomes a tradition. The pilgrimage tradition of Bathara Katongs tomb is one of them. This tradition is done by the people of Ponorogo and its surroundings since antiquity. Bathara Katong is a central figure in the spread of Islam in Ponorogo. There was a transition between old and new cultures from various aspects. This transition is considered to be the cause of cultural acculturation. Acculturation of this culture also penetrated the field of art in the area around the tomb, for example the emergence of art Jemblung which is the acculturation between two cultures into one. In addition to art, acculturation can also be found in the architecture of the building, the process of pilgrimage, and the objects brought by the pilgrims of the tomb of Bathara Katong. The name Bathara Katong itself is actually an example of cultural acculturation. Just because it follows the times, this tradition has also changed. This article will try to explore it.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to explain the batik wood artists level of understanding of Copyright as part of Intellectual Property as stipulated in Act Number 19 Year 2002. The research was conducted with descriptive qualitative approach and the data were collected using questionnaires from 65 batik wood artists that were selected randomly from 673 artists in Gunung Kidul. The data is also completed with interviews from main informants, and observation results and content analysis results. The data validation was done use source triangulation techniques to obtain data that reflecting facts. Data analyzed with interactive model in cycle with stages data collection, data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results show that the low implementation of copyright registration is not only due to the lack of artists in understanding the Copyright, but rather from the influence of socio – cultural aspects of society that are collective. Thus, emphasizing the moral aspect of the formal aspects such as Copyright that are part of the western culture. The Copyright Act No. 19 Number 2002 is the revision of previously Copyright Act which has not provided a proportional space for Moral Rights compared to Copyright which tends to the economic aspects.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to describe Keris from the point of view of cultural elements. This research is anthropological by analyzing art branch of art that is Keris, where its position is culture, which has seven cultural element. Technique of collecting data with observation, interview and analysis of document / archive contents. Stages of analysis is done by collecting data, data reduction, data presentation and verification. The study concluded that Keris has religious meaning, source of livelihood, social organization, local knowledge, language, artistry and technological meaning. All elements of culture inherent in the keris possess each form of ideas, social behavior and physical form.
