Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the effect of the motivation to achive on the learning achievement; (2) the effect of the learning facilities on the learning achievement; and (3) the simultaneus effect of the motivation to achive and the learning facilities on the learning achievement. This research used the descriptive quantitative research method. The population of the research was all of the XI class students of the office administration skill program of the state vocational high school 1 of Surakarta in the education and training year 2011/2012 as many as 75 students. The sample of the research consisted of 45 students or 60% out of the total number of population, and they were taken by using proportional random sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered by using questionnaire and documentation. They were then analyzed by using the multipel linear regression technique of analysis. The results of the research are as follows: (1) there is a significant and positive effect of the variable of the motivation to achive (X1) on the learning achievement; (2) there is a significant and positive effect of the variable of the learning facilities (X2) on the learning achievement; and (3) there is a simutaneusly significant and positive effect of the variable of the motivation to achive (X1) and that of the learning facilities (X2) on the learning (Y). The relative contribution of the motivation to achive (X1) on the learning achievement (Y) is 66.65%, and that of the learning facilities (X2) on the learning achievement (Y) is 33.34%. The effective contribution of the motivation to achive (X1) on the learning achievement (Y) is 48.05%, and that of the learning facilities (X2) on the learning achievement (Y) is 24.03%.

Abstract

Absract: The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) how Chief of Jebres Sub-district Office, Surakarta city plays his leadership role in growing the discipline behavior of its employees; (2) what constraints are encountered by Chief of Jebres Sub-district Office, Surakarta city in internalizing the discipline of its employees; and (3) what solutions are taken by Chief of Jebres Sub-district Office to deal with the prevailing constraints to the materialization of the discipline behavior of its employees. This research used the qualitative embedded single case study method. The results of the research are as follows: 1) Chief of Jebres Sub-district Office, Surakarta city plays his leadership role through the discipline behavior internalizations such as: (a) giving exemplification through discipline attitude; (b) giving motivation to the employees; (c) attempting to fulfill their needs and prosperity; and (d) implementing the discipline upholding consistently. 2) The constraints occurring in nurturing the discipline of the employees of Jebres Sub-district Office are as follows: (a) internal constraints: some employees bear the characters and personalities which are apathetic to advices, and some are lack of responsibilities in executing their duties and work and (b) external constraints: the external constraints occurring in internalizing the discipline of the employees of Jebres Sub-district Office are mainly related to the work environment. 3) The prevailing constraints occurring in internalizing the discipline of the employees are as follows: (a) upholding the prevailing laws and regulations and nurturing the employees; and (b) maintaining the communication and good relations among the employees.

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the direct effect of the work division on the employees’ work effectiveness; (2) the direct effect of the work motivation on the employees’ work effectiveness; (3) the direct effect of the cooperation ability on the employees’ work effectiveness; (4) the indirect effect of the work division on the employees’ work effectiveness through the cooperation ability; and (5) the indirect effect of the work motivation on the employees’ work effectiveness through the cooperation ability at the Limited Liability Company of PT. Pos Indonesia (Persero) Surakarta in 2012. his research used the quantitative research method. The population of the research was all of the employees of the Limited Liability Company of PT. Pos Indonesia (Persero) Surakarta in 2012. The samples of the research were 53 employees or 25% of the total number of employees of the company, and they were taken by using the proportional random sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered through questionnaire supported by documentation method. The data of the research were analyzed by using the path analysis with the computer program of SPSS 17. The results of the research are as follows: (1) there is a significant and positive direct effect of the work division on the employees’ work effectiveness as indicated by the value of ρ YX1 = beta = 0.356 with the probability (sig) = 0.003; (2) there is a positive and significant direct effect of the work motivation on the employees’ work effectiveness as shown by the value of ρ YX2 = beta = 0.342 with the probability (sig) = 0.003; (3) there is a positive and significant direct effect of the cooperation ability on the employees’ work effectiveness as pointed out by the value of ρ YX3 = beta = 0.240 with the probability (sig) = 0.046; (4) there is a positive and significant indirect effect of the work division on the employees’ work effectiveness through the cooperation ability as suggested by the value of ρ X3X1 . ρ YX3 = (0.308) . (0.240) = 0. 074; and (5) there is a positive and significant indirect effect of the work motivation on the employees’ work effectiveness through the cooperation ability as specified by the value of ρ X3X2 . ρ YX3 = (0.277) . Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office at Karanganyar regency; (2) the factors influencing the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office at Karanganyar regency; and (3) the efforts taken to improve the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office at Karanganyar regency.This research used a single embedded case study with the qualitative method. The sources of the research were informants, locations, documents or archives. The samples of the research were taken by using the purposive sampling technique and the snowball sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered through in-depth interview, observation, and documentation and were then validated by using the data source and data gathering method triangulations. They were analyzed by using the interactive technique of analysis.The results of the research show that the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office in extending services to the community in Karanganyar regency has not been optimal for the community feels less satisfied with the services in terms of the timeliness and comfort of services. Such a performance is due to the limited number of its employees and their low ability in the computerization system. The factors affecting the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office at Karanganyar regency include (1) work motivation of the employees, (2) ability of the employees, and (3) facility and infrastructure. The efforts taken so as to improve the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Office at Karanganyar regency are, among others, highly motivating and encouraging the employees to perform better through punishment and reward system. The employees shall be given training on computerization system. The facility and infrastructure shall be added in terms of quantity and completeness. Keywords: Performance and services to community.

Abstract

In the globalization era such today, the competition to get customer is gettingtougher, making companies more aggressive in giving the best service to their customersthrough many alternatives and more innovative ways. Faculty of Teacher Training andEducation of Sebelas Maret University, a faculty that provides professional educator, isreaching out for the best and more inovative ways to serve its customers. In this descriptiveresearch,the population were students and lecturers in amount of 3,470, in which100 respondents (5%) of the population as the samples.The faculty staff has already had agood performance, hence it made the high satisfactions to students and lecturers. Thesesatisfactions were reflected by the items no 1,4,5,6,7,14 that in the quadrant II. By theseresults, those were the items that should be maintained and improved.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the significant effect of learning activeness on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014; (2) the significant effect of field work practice on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014; and (3) the simultaneous effect of learning activeness and field work practice on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014.This research used the descriptive quantitative research method. Its population was all of the students as many as 77 in Grade XII of Office Administration of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015. The samples of research consisted of 44 students. They were taken by using the proportional random sampling technique. The data of research were collected through questionnaire and documentation. They were analyzed by using the multiple linear regression analysis aided with the computer program of SPSS17.The results of research are as follows: (1) the learning activeness has a significant effect on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014 as indicated by the value of tcount = 2.045 > that ttable = 1.682; (2) the field work practice has a significant effect on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014 as shown by the value of tcount = 3.737 > thatof ttable = 1.682; and (c) the learning activeness and field work practice have s simultaneously significant effect on the personal communication ability of the students in Grade XII of Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2014 as specified by the value of Fcount = 11.537 > that of Ftable = 3.230. The regression equation is Ŷ = 6.064 + 0.216 X1 + 0.257 X2. The relative contribution of the learning activeness (X1) is 72.5%, and its effective contribution is 9.9%. Meanwhile, the relative contribution of the field work practice (X2) is 27.5%, and its effective contribution is 26.1%.
