Abstract

ABSTRACT The Antimicrobial Activity Test of Some Kitchen Seasoning Extracts on Growth of Fungus Curvularia lunata (Wakk.) Boed. and Aspergillus flavus LINK. This research was aimed to determine the ability of herbs extract in inhibiting the growth of fungus C. lunata and A. flavus and to determine the minimum inhibition concentration of each extracts as well. The results showed that the extracts could inhibit the growth of the two fungus. The most effective extract was turmeric against C. lunata and galangal extract against A. flavus with each inhibition was 38,6% and 26,6% respectively. The minimum inhibition concentration of all extracts were 0,5% on both C. lunata and A. flavus. Keyword : Antimicrobial, Kitchen seasoning, Curvularia lunata, Aspergillus flavus

Abstract

ABSTRACT Study of Anti fungi Extract of Some Types of Marine Biota to the Apergillus flavus LINK. and Penicillium sp. LINK. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of marine biota, namely Aglaophenia sp., Eucheuma cottonii, Sargassum sp., Gracilaria sp., and Ulva sp. in impeding the growth of Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium sp. fungi which is isolated from contaminated corn seed. The results of this study shown that the crude extract of marine biota is very effective in impeding the growth of Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium sp. fungi. Extract which is capable forming the greater impeding zone is Aglaophenia sp, that is 68,20 mm to Penicillium sp. with very strong category of impeading power. Aglaophenia sp. ekstract shown a greater empeading power to the colony of fungi, that is 49,40% to Aspergillus flavus and 49,20% to Penicillium sp. Abstract

ABSTRACT Identification of Endophytic Fungi from Rice Grain and It’s Inhibiting Ability by In Vitro Against Pyricularia oryzae Cav. Fungal endophyte is a fungi that lives in the tissues of plants without causing disease symptoms on host plants. During symbiotic, many endophyte could produce antibiotic compounds, those can make endophyte microbes become biological control agents against pests and plant diseases. The aims of this study is to determine the types and the number of endophytic fungi spesies that exist in rice seeds stadia, also growth inhibitory ability against Pyricularia oryzae Cav. in vitro. Based on microscopic identification and DNA analysis were found 14 species of endophytic fungi. Endophytic fungi were able to inhibit the develop of Pyricularia oryzae Cav. amount. The greatest inhibitor was Unidentified-2 isolates of 65.6% followed by fungi Phaeosphaeriopsis musae, Sarocladium oryzae, and Sordariomycetes sp., with inhibition of 63.3%, 61.1%, and 58.9% respectively. Abstract

ABSTRACT Effectiveness Test of Some Plant Seeds Extract to Inhibit the Growth of Spotting Leaf Bacteria (Xanthomonas campestris) on Tomato Plant. The X. campestris bacterium is very harmful to tomato plant because the bacteria able to attack the plant seedling up to full grown stage. This bacterium  not only attack the root, but also infect the leaves, fruits and stems. Utilization of botanical pesticides to inhibit the pathogen becomes one alternative option to be recommended. The control method has selective activity and safe for the ecosystem. The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of some plant seeds extract in inhibiting the growth of X. campestris the causal agent of leaf spot on tomato plants. Rose apple seed extract contains phyto-pesticide that can be used to inhibit the growth of leaf spot caused by X. campestris. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the extract was at a concentration of 0.312% with the diameter of inhibition zone of 8 mm. It was expected that rose apple seed extract may be used as an alternative subtance to inhibit the growth of bacterium X. campestris bacterium of tomato plants. Abstract

ABSTRACT Inhibiting Ability of Some Fruit Rinds Extract Against the Growth of Ralstonia solanacearum on Chili Ralstonia solanacearum infect plant root through wound that occured indirectly. The symptoms of the disease are whole plant to wilt, the leaves turn yellow to blackish-brown, and eventually the plant dies. In the culture media contained  Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride (TZC) the bacterium tend to form white colony and irregular round shape. The method used to determine the extract activating was well diffusion method. The results of the study showed that application of coconut rind extract inhibited the bacterium. The minimum concentration was 1,25% with diameter of inhibition zone was 15 mm. The phenolic compounds contained on the coconut rind was possibly inhibit the growth of the bacterial colonies. Further research needs to be conducted in vivo to determine the effectiveness of antibacterial compounds contained in the extract of coconut rind. Abstract

ABSTRACT Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae (VAM) Identification of Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) and Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) Rhizosphere and Its Spore Multiplication in Zeolite Media Various attempts have been made to increase the production of chilli and tomato plants by farmers, including by using  inorganic fertilizer application on and on going basis. Considering potential problems that may occured due to inorganic fertilizer use, aplication of  biological fertilizer which one of them is containing vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM) could be expected to assist the growth of chilli and tomato in more naturally manner. This study was aimed to determine genus and species of VAM in chilli and tomato rhizosphere, its colonization in root tissue, and to examine zeolite media compatibility with corn as a symbiont. Based on the results of the study, it was found four species namely Acaulospora fofeata, A. colombiana, A. Laevis, and Glomus ambisporum in chilli and four species in tomato that were identified as A. fofeata, A. colombiana, Scutellospora calospora, and G. ambisporum. Colonization were found in roots of chilli, tomato, and corn indicated by symbiotic structures arbuscules, vesicles, and inner spores. Zeolite media with corn as symbiotic plant is considered suitable for VAM spore propagation. Keywords: rhizosphere, Acaulospora fofeata, zeolite, inner spore

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Epidemic of Anthracnose Disease in the Lemon [Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swingle] at Kertelangu Village, East Denpasar District           Anthracnose disease on lemon  was a newly discovered disease in Kertalangu Village, East Denpasar. Status of the disease unknown,. and lemon plants grown less well maintained and neglected, almost all plants showing symptoms of disease. Planting conditions like this its possible anthracnose disease that can destroy rapidly growing cultivation of lemon. The research was conducted from April to June 2015 in the village of Kertalangu, district East Denpasar, Bali.           The results showed that the leaf spot disease found on lemon was anthracnose that caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Disease incidence of anthracnose was 26.16 – 35.00%, and disease severity was 17.38 – 24.10%, that is mean relatively mild disease. The infection of rate was  0.00128 – 0.0162 per leaf per day, its mean development of the disease was slowly.   Keywords: Anthracnose, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, inhibiting ability, prevalence, endophytic and exophytic.

Abstract

Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae Identification of Arabica Coffee(coffea arabica L.) and Robusta Coffee (Coffea robusta L.) Rhizosphere andIts Spore Multiplication in Zeolite Media.The high demand of coffee in the world led the farmers to improve coffee productivity by using inorganic fertilizers. Considering potential problems that may occured due to inorganic fertilizer use, aplication of biological fertilizer which one of them is containing Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae (VAM) could be expected to assist the growth of Arabica coffee and Robusta coffee plants in more naturally manner. This study aimed to determine the types mycorrhizal of rhizosphere coffee plants and determine the effectiveness of zeolite media and corn symbiont plant in propagation of VAM. The study began in April to August 2015. Spore isolation was done by conducting wet sieving method. Roots colonization percentages were calculated by root staining method and spores multiplication through trapping culture method. The results showed that VAM spores found in the rhizosphere arabica coffee plants are two genera VAM Acaulospora and Glomus, whereas in robusta coffee plant found three genera Acaulospora, Glomus, and Gigaspora. Mycorrhizal structures found in the rhizosphere of Arabica and Robusta coffee plants were arbuscular, vesicles, hyphae and inner spores. Corn symbionts plant and zeolite media were good combination for the propagation of VAM spores.

Abstract

The effect of Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma spp. Applications against Clubroot Disease and Growth of Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) in Candikuning Village, Tabanan, Bali The research was aimed to find the effectiveness of P. fluorescens and Trichoderma spp. in suppressing clubroot disease caused by P. brassicae Wor. and increasing the growth of cabbage plants as well. The microbes treatments were set on randomized block design, consisting of 36 treatments and 3 replications. The variables observed were percentage of attack, number of clubroot, microbial density, plant height, leaf area, chlorophyll contents, and plant weight,. The results showed that the combination of P. fluorescens and Trichoderma spp. was able to suppress the percentage of pathogen attack and increase the growth of cabbage plants as well. The most effective treatment was combination between P. fluorescens-1 and Trichoderma-4, followed by combination treatment of P. fluorescens-1 and Trichoderma-3 and then P. fluorescens-1 and Trichoderma-5.
