Abstract

Background : Despite its benefits to the production activities, the use of hazardous and toxic materials in any industrial activities could also pose a risk to the environment, human living and also any other living creatures. In order to avoid or at least minimize the risks of health and safety problems of the workers, it is important to manage hazardous and toxic materials well. The purpose of this research was to find out how PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang manages the hazardous and toxic material in terms of occupational safety and health aspects. Method: This research was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The methods of the research are in-depth interviews, observation and documents reviews. The interviews were done to twelve informants, one of them are expert in relevant field. Result : The results of the research showed that safety and health efforts done by PT. Pusri in order to manage hazardous and toxic materials still need to be improved. It is difficult to complete the material safety data sheets that had been ordered, insufficient emergency response system in the storage room, the transportation officer also has not yet safely equipped with protection, there are still workers who work without personal protective equipment and there is still hazardous and toxic materials waste existing without symbol on its packaging. Conclusion: For a better future, workers should take material safety data sheets to the supplier at the time of acceptance hazardous and toxic materials. Besides, the quality of emergency response system in the storage room obviously needed to be improved and simulated too. Changing the no-longer adequate protective equipment for the transportation worker and improving facilities of hazardous waste management to prevent environmental contamination are the two things that also needed to be done. Method: The study design was used cross sectional method. The questionnaire used to determine the age and years of service batik craftsmen. Luxmeter used to determine the intensity of illumination. Photostress Recovery Time method used to measure the eyestrain. Result: There is no significant relationship between age and eye fatigue (P value = 1,00). There is no significant relationship between the intensity of illumination with eyestrain (P value = 0,122) Conclussion: There is a significant relationship between years of service with eye fatigue (P value = 0,007) with RP = 3.231 so that it can be said that the craftsmen who had worked for five years or more has a chance of 3.231 times the risk of eyestrain compared to a new worker employed for less than five years, with 95% confidence level range from 0.991 to 10.533. The risk factors astenopia are  The over use of computer, inadequate lighting intensity increase of age, and frequent of breaks not regularly. Method : The research uses cross sectional design held to 30 computer users in SAMSAT office Palembang. The aim of this research is to know about factors which related with eye fatique. This research uses  Questionnaire Luxmeter and reaction timer instruments Result : Based on exact fisher test, there are relation among independent variable and dependen varible (an eye fatique) such us age  P value is 0,246, lenght of VDT P value is 0,028 frequent of breaks  P value is 0,042 light intensity  P value is 0,108 Conclusion : From results of reserach, periodical medical check up especially eye condition must be held regularly. The screen should have been changed with LCD. Filter screen is needed to avoid radiation and increase the level of contrast. This research used the cross sectional design. The questionnaire was used to know the respondences characteristics and shift work. To measure fatigue, the reaction timer was used, and to measure the change of blood pressure, the sphygnomanometer was used. Result : The results show that there is a correlation between shift work and work fatigue which was measured using Chi-Square (P value = 0,034) and there is no differences of the change of blood pressure among nurses of morning, evening and night shift which was measured through Annova (P value = 0,441). Conclusion : Some suggestions are the shift commutation is done in every three days with eight hours per each shift, the nurses of night shift should get additional food, check their health in every six months, sleep one hour before work and take turn their bedtime, check their body weight regularly and take care of their physical condition. AbstractNarcotic abuse having premarital sexual intercourse and multiple sexualpartners is risky behavior. Abstract

Background : Concentration of air pollution in major cities and industrial areas Indonesia has caused the respiratory problems, irritation of the eyes and ears, and the emergence of certain diseases. Smoke and dust still generated a lot of air pollution in the working environment especially in the processing, packing and storage. With such a working environment, workers should use PPE to reduce exposure and risk from hazards of dust and smoke (fog), primarily the use of respiratory PPE that can prevent upper respiratory tract infection. Method :This research was conducted in 59 factory workers at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara VII Cinta Manis which aimed to identify factors associated with non-compliance of respiratory PPE. This study uses cross sectional design. Data is processed and presented in frequency distribution tables, analyzed analytically by using chi square test. Result : From the analysis of chi square test is known, there is a relationship of knowledge with non-compliance of respiratory PPE (Pvalue 0.044), there is a relationship between attitude with the non-compliance of respiratory PPE (Pvalue 0.029), there is no relationship between working period with the non-compliance period of respiratory PPE (Pvalue 0.219), there is a relationship between comfort with non-compliance of respiratory PPE (Pvalue 0.013), there is no relationship between availability of respiratory PPE with non-compliance respiratory PPE (Pvalue 0.483) and there is no relationship with non-compliance of PPE (Pvalue 1.000). Abstract

Background : Center of Collecting Production (PPP) is an oil producing reservoir of the field and partners Pertamina. Number of machinery, transfer pumps and tanks may cause health risks to workers. Health risk assessment is part of risk management to identify potential hazards, analyze, and evaluate the hazard. Method : Observational study with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative measurements done using the Sound Level Meter, Lux Meter and Impinger. Data analysis is done by using risk assessment methods. Result : Noise and lighting has an intensity of exposure to continuous gas while disorganized. Noise, lighting and gas have the same opportunities of which is very common. Health consequences caused great noise and lighting, while the gas is not significant. Noise and lighting have extreme risk to health workers. Conclusion : Noise and lighting is the highest hazard potential in the PT. Pertamina EP Prabumulih. Keywords : Noise, Information, Health Risk Assessment, Physical Factors, Chemical Factors
