Abstract

Shallot is the one of leading vegetable which has long been cultivated by farmers intensive, the lowyields of shallot in Indonesia is caused by the use of low quality seeds and planting medium that isnot good. Efforts to increase onion yields, among others by chicken manure and EM4. Thisresearch has been conducted to obtain the optimal dose the effect of chicken manure and EM4application on the growth and yield of the shallot. Research was conducted on Jalan Pasar Satu,Medan Selayang, Medan with a height of 25 m above sea level on June to August 2012. usingrandomized block design of two factors, the factors are chicken manure (0, 40, 80, 120 g / plant) andEM4 (0, 3.5, 7 cc / l of water). The parameters observed were plant height, tillers number, leafnumber, wet weight per sample, wet weight per plot, dry weight per sample, dry weight per plot andclove number. The results showed that treatment of chicken manure significantly influenced all theparameters in which a dose of 120 g / plant showed the highest yields. EM4 treatment significantlyinfluenced the parameters of wet weight per plot and dry weight per plot. Interaction of bothtreatments significantly influenced wet weight per plot, dry weight per plot, and the cloves numberper sample.Key words : shallot, chicken manure, EM4

Abstract

Low bulb supply of bawang sabrang be trouble in propagation. For that purpuse bulbs divisionaimed to decreasing bulb needed and the right comparing of planting media can increase growthand yield of bawang sabrang. This research was conducted in experimental field at Jl. Pembangunanin April- July 2013, used randomized block design with two factor etc bulb division (no division, 2part division, 4 part division) and comparing planting media (topsoil, topsoil+compost 1:1, 2:1,3:1). Parameter observed was germination time, plant height, number of leaves, number of bulbs persample, fresh bulb weight per sample and fresh bulb weight per plot.The result of this researhshowed that bulb division significantly decreased germination time, plant height, number of bulbsper sample, fresh bulb weight per sample and fresh bulb weight per plot.Comparing of plantingmedia significantly effect number of leaves, number of bulbs per sample, fresh bulb weight persample and fresh bulb weight per plot. Interaction between bulb division and comparing plantingmedia significantly number of leaves, number of bulbs per sample, fresh bulb weight per sampleand fresh bulb weight per plot. Abstract

One of the factors that determine the quality of cocoa seedlings are growing medium that has achemical and physical fertility, in order to obtain a good and healthy seeds for furthergrowth.Growing media fertility can be improved or enhanced with inorganic or organic fertilizer,such as Rabbit manure, which is one type of solid waste rabbit manure and NPK fertilizer, isexpected to increase the growth of cocoa seedling. This research had been conducted atexperimental field of Fakultas Pertanian USU in July 2013 until September 2013, using factorialrandomized block design with two factor, i.e. dose of rabbit manure (0, 50, 100, and 150 gram perpolybag) and dose of NPK fertilizer (0 ,4, 8, and 12 gram per polybag). Parameter observed wereplant height, stem diameter, number of leaf, summarize of leaf area, fresh weight of shoot, freshweight of root, dry weight ofshoot and dry weight of root. The result showed response of rabbitmanure on cocoa seed significantlyincrease plant height, total of leaf area, and dry shoot weight.The best results from this experimental were obtained in the treatment of rabbit manure at 150g/polybag.________________________________________________________________________________Keywords: Rabbit manure, NPK Fertilizer, Cocoa Seedling

Abstract

The availability of top soil as an oil palm sead plant media is very limited, so to contend it is usedsub soil plant media which more available and easier to get it, but it has bad chemicalcharacteristics. Application Oil Palm Empty Bunch (OPEB) compost or Palm Oil Liquid Waste ofaerobic pond is expected to bost growth of Palm Seed (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.).This research hadbeen conducted at Net House of Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatera University in October 2013until January 2014,, using factorial randomized block design with two factor i.e. composition ofplanting media (90% Sub-soil + 10% OPEB compost, 80% Sub-soil + 20% OPEB compost, 70%Sub-soil + 30% OPEB compost, and 100% Top-soil) and Palm Oil Liquid Waste (0, 1, 2, and 3litre/plant).Parameter observed were plant’s height, stem diameter, number of leaf, total leaf area,volume of root, upper part fresh weight, root weight, upper part dry weight, dry root weight. Theresult showed composition of planting media on palm seed give no real effect to all of parameterobserved.Application of Oil Palm Liquid Waste significantly affect the parameter number of upperpart fresh weight and root weight. Interaction of both do not give a real effect to all of parameterobserved. The best result from this experimental were obtained in the treatment of compositionplanting media at 70% Sub-soil + 30 OPEB compost and application of Palm Oil Liquid Waste at 3litre/plant.Keywords: Planting Media, Palm Oil Liquid Waste, Oil Palm Seed

Abstract

Attempts to increase the yield of sweet corn can be done with soil preparation and plant spacing.The purpose of the study was to determine the some appropriate soil preparation and an axact plantspacing to increase the growth and production of sweet corn. The research was implemented in thecommunity land located at Tanjung Sari number 89, Medan with the height of 25 metres above sealevel. began from February until May 2013. The design of the research was a randomized blockdesign factorial with two factors. The first factor was soil preparation (no tillage, minimum tillage,traditional tillage) and the second was plant spacing (20x30, 30x30, 40x30, 50x30 centimeter). Theparameters measured were plant height, diameter of stalk, the weight of root brangkasan , theweight of stalk brangkasan, the weight of leaf brangkasan, the weight of cob brangkasan, the weightof weed dry, net assimilation increase, plant growth increase. The results showed that soilpreparation significantly affected plant height, diameter of stalk, the weight of root brangkasan, theweight of stalk brangkasan, the weight of leaf brangkasan, the weight of weed dry Euphorbia hirtaand the weight of weed dry Cynodon dactylon. Plant spacing significantly affected the weight ofstalk brangkasan, the weight of leaf brangkasan, the weight of weed dry Euphorbia hirta andinteraction significantly affected the weight of cob brangkasan.Keywords : Sweet corn varieties bonanza, soil preparation, plant spacing.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the response of growth and yield of shallot (Alliumascalonicum L.) on time applications and KNO3 concentrations. The research was conducted at Pasar1 street No. 89 Tanjung Sari Medan, with a height of 25 metre above sea level, began from Julyuntil September 2013. The design of the research was a Randomized Block Design non factorialwith 13 treatments were: Control (without treatments); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28,35 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14,21 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28,35 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at14, 21 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14,21, 28, 35 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water +application at 14, 21 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14 HST). Parameters observed wereplant height, tillers number, wet weight per sample, dry weight per sample, wet weight per plot anddry weight per plot. The results showed that all parameters observed were unsignificantly affectedby time applications and KNO3 concentrations except for plant height 5 – 7 weeks after planting.Key words : Shallot, time application, KNO3 fertilizer.

Abstract

The research aimed to study about the response of growth and yield of shallot on palm oil milleffluent (POME) and type of bulb fission.  The research has been conducted on land of AgriculturalFaculty USU (± 25masl) from April to Juny 2014, using a factorial randomized block design withtwo factors which are dosage of effluent (0; 1; 2; 3 l/plot) and the second factors were type offission (no fission, fissioned 1/3 part, fissioned into 2 part). The Parameters observed were plantheight, leaves number per clump, tillers number per clump, clove number, wet weight of bulb perplant, wet weight of bulb per plot, dry weight of bulb per plant and dry weight of bulb per plot. Theresults showed bulb fission treatment significantly increased for all parameters. Giving palm oil milleffluent significantly increased clove number and interaction of fission bulb treatment and givingpalm oil mill effluent non significantly increased for all parameters.Keywords:shallot, POME, fission

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the growth response of oil palm seed on waste market compost and Npkmg (15:15:6:4) fertilize aplication in pre nursery. The research was conducted atthe experimental field Agricultural Faculty, Sumatera Utara University about ± 25 metres above sealevel from April to July 2014. The design use randomized block design with 2 factors treatment.The first factor was The waste market compost with 4 levels: 0 g/polybag (K);50 g/polybag  (K1); 100 g/polybag (K2); 150 g/polybag (K) and the second factor was NPKMg (15:15:6:4)fertilizer with 4 levels: 0 g/polybag (P03); 2,5 g/polybag (P1); 5 g/polybag (P) and                         7,5g/polybag(P32). The results showed that the waste market compost treatment has significantly effectto the plant height, total wide leaf, dry weight root and soil pH , however no significantly affectedfor, stem diameter, leaf number, length of the root, fresh weight of crown, dry weight of crown, andfresh weight of root. The NPKMg (15:15:6:4) fertilize treatment showed significant effect to stemdiameter, total wide leaf, fresh weight of crown and dry weight of crown however no significantlyaffected for plant height, leaf number, lenght of the root, fresh weight of root, dry weight of rootand soil pH. The interaction of both of treatmet showed significan for the plant height and totalwide leaf. Keywords: Oil palm, waste market compost, NPKMg (15:15:6:4) fertilizers. 0

Abstract

The objective of the research was obtained the appropriate of media composition and soakingperiod of auxin toward growth of bud chip technique sugarcane seedling. The research wasconducted at experimental field of Tanjung Jatti Estate Binjai PTPN II (± 50 m asl.) in April – Juny2014 using a randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was media compositionwith levels: 50:50, 70:30, and 30:70 (% top soil: % blotong compost), and the second factor wassoaking period of auxin with levels: 10, 20, and 30 minutes to consentration 2 ml/L with threereplications. The result of this research showed that application of media composition wassignificant effected on seedling growth percentage at 1 week after planting (WAP), plant height andstem diameter at 6 WAP, leaf total at 4 and 6 WAP, leaf area at 8 WAP, sturdiness value, shoot/rootratio and seedling quality index. The soaking period of auxin was significant effected on leaf area at 8 WAP and shoot/root ratio. Interaction of both was significant effected only on leaf total at 2 WAPwith M1T3 was the highest. Abstract

This research aims for knowing the response a giving of oil palm seeds in the results of giving empty fruit bunches of oil palm compost and zeolite in pre nursery. The researched was carried outat Faculty of Agricultural screen house, USU (± 25 mdpl) in March – July 2014 using a randomizedblock design with two factors. The first factors was dose empty fruit brunches of oil palm compostwith four levels that were including 0 g/polybag; 15 g/polybag; 30 g/polybag; 45 g/polybag; andthe second factor was dose of zeolite with four levels that were including 0 g/polybag; 5 g/polybag;10 g/polybag; 15 g/polybag. The results of research shows that the application of empty fruitbrunches of oil palm compost had a real impact on the stem diameter and total leaf area. As for thediameter of stem best level was obtained at treatment EFBOP compost 45 g/polybag and total leafbest level was obtained at treatment EFBOP compost 30 g/polybag. Giving the zeolite wasevidently influencial toward the stem diameter, total leaf area, crowns wetness weight, root drynessweight, and crowns dryness weight. Zeolite best level was obtained at treatment zeolite 5g/polybag. The interaction between empty fruit brunches of oil palm compost and zeolite fertilizerwas evidently influencial towards the total leaf area and crowns dryness weight in pre nursery. Besttreatment combination level was found of which was 30 g/polybag of empty fruit brunches of oilpalm compost and5 g/polybag of zeolite. Key words: EFBOP compost, zeolite, and oil palm
