A Measure of Entrepreneurial Behavior of University Students: A Theory of Planned Behavior Approach

Abstract

Higher education institutions should be able to change the mindset of students who are not only as job seekers, but also job creators especially when educated unemployment in Indonesia increases every year. Entrepreneurship is one solution in tackling unemployment and poverty which will encourage national economic growth. This study examines the effect of self-efficacy and contextual environment on entrepreneurial behavior with entrepreneurial intention as an intervening variable using Theory of Planned Behavior. The subjects of this study were Semarang State University students who owned a business and joined the UNNES Student Entrepreneurship Center (UNSEC) and Himpunan Pengusaha Muda Indonesia Perguruan Tinggi (HIPMI PT) Semarang State University totaling 310 students. The results showed a direct relationship between self-efficacy and contextual environment towards entrepreneurial behavior and indirect relationships through entrepreneurial intentions. It was proved by the moderating role of entrepreneurial intention in facilitating the relationship of self-efficacy and contextual environment to student entrepreneurial behavior in accordance with the Theory of Planned Behavior. Future studies can use elements of social and demographic psychology that are more complete and involve a wider population.

Abstract

There are some factors which is retard and encourage to get the success in cooperation, likebusiness environment and build the members participation. The aim of this research is to know theinfluence and how much the influence of members participation and business environment towards thesuccess of “KPRI Kapas” Banjarnegara. The participation of members and business environmentbecome a free variable, meanwhile the success of “KPRI Kapas” become a bounded variable. Based onthe result the percentage descriptive analysis, we got 69% for the members participation and 74,07% forbusiness environment and we conclude that is was be good category, meanwhile we got 67,44% for thesuccess of “KPRI Kapas” and we conclude good enough category. The percentage of influencemembers participation and business environment toward the successful of “KPRI Kapas” was 58,5%,meanwhile the rest was 41,5% influenced by the other factors. To be more success this cooperationneed relationship whit the other business optimally and need education and training for the members.Keywords: members participation, business environment, success of KPRI Kapas

Abstract

TheKKNTematik PBA(illiteracy eradication field program) is a collaborativeprogram between provincial governments and universities to irradicate illiteracy inCentral Java. Semarang State University was one of the universities taking a part inthe program. The program was conducted among other in Bandar Batang.participants responses and their achievement in basicmath, reading, and writing. The subject of the study was the implementation of themodels the program in Bandar Batang in 2008. The models consisted of three: private,small group, and large group. The population (226 people) was selected through adisproportionate stratified random sampling of 5 villages. The variables of theresearch were participants responses and their achievement. The data were collectedwith a questionnaire and document analysis. The data were analyzed with descriptiveanalysis of the percentage and chi-square analysis. It was revealed that the response ofthe participants fell under good category. The achievement of the participants in basicmath, reading, and writing fell under low category.kata kunci: KKNtematik, buta aksara, warga belajar

Abstract

The existence of many problematic cooperatives has indicated the lack quality of their institution. Therefore, it is important to prioritize the assistance from the government. This research aims to identify a strategy to improve the quality of the institutions at the Board for Cooperative and Small Enterprises in Semarang. This research employs qualitative method focusing on the strategies for improving the quality of cooperative institutions. The research shows that they use some strategies: (1) socialization to community; (2) establishment of cooperative; (3) assistance from facilitators for cooperatives at the subdistrict level consisting of evaluation, inventory, and counseling; (4) coordination among facilitators; (5) formulating assistance strategies; and (6) evaluation. Abstract

Students in the first semester got difficulty to adapt the learning process in the university (student-oriented) which are different with the senior high school (teacher-oriented). Thus, the lecturer needed to solve the problem to sharpen students’ independence by using Jigsaw, a cooperative learning. Then, e-learning was also an important factor to spread the knowledge widely to students. Thus; the combination of Jigsaw and e-learning was expected to improve students’ achievement. The subjects of the study were 40 Economics education students in bachelor degree (S1), Unnes in Curriculum Review class. The objective of the study was to minimize the mistake, improve the students’ interest and study result in understanding the concept of the Standard of National Education through independent learning strategy based on e-learning and cooperative learning of Jigsaw. The result of study showed that students’ activities, interest, attention, participation in discussion and presentation in the classroom increased significantly with the mean 4.14. Then, students’ test results increased from pre-test which was only 74 then rose to 79 in the 1st cycle and 81 in the 2nd cycle with the level of completeness was 87.5%. Furthermore, students thought that the strategy was very good with the score 4.12

Abstract

The research aims to test the influence teaching career motivation, career self-efficacy and social economic status of academic achievement through its interest in becoming a teacher. The populations of this study were all students of Economic Education of first semester the academic year 2012/2013 which still in the career choice process and content. Proportional random samples technique was used in this study. The collecting data used the question form and documentation, while for analyzing the data using path analysis.Research findings show that teaching career motivation, career self-efficacy and social economic status has a positive and significant influence to the academic achievement through its interest in becoming a teacher. Based on this research finding, it can be suggested that (1) an attempt to cultivate interest of being a teacher and academic achievement can be conducted by increasing career motivation, career self-efficacy, and parents support, (2) the process of admission or the preparation of teachers need to pay attention to such as talent, psychological aspects interest, motivation, and career self-efficacy to get the input quality, (3) provide learning facilities for poor family student who are facing trouble for higher study.

The roles of financial knowledge, motivation and self efficacy on the influence of financial education toward financial literacy

Abstract

Surveys and researches showed that there were many low finance literacy in various places. It happened also in The Economics Faculty, Semarang State University/ Universitas Negeri Semarang, there were from 16 of 40 students who had good financial behaviors. It was contradictive because they have taken accounting subject who should make them good in financial literacy. The research on financial literacy had the contradiction, especially the influence of financial education variable on financial literacy. Therefore; this study raised the mediating variables; the consumer knowledge variable and psychological factor variables (motivation, self efficacy). This study was analyzed structurally divided into two analyses; descriptive analysis and path inferential analysis.  The results of descriptive analysis showed that students’ financial literacy and financial education were in enough categories; whereas, motivation and self-efficacy were in good condition, and students’ financial knowledge was in unfavorable category. The results of path analysis showed that the variable of financial education did not have any direct influence  toward financial literacy, but it had indirect influence through motivation. Then, the variable of financial education also did not have any direct influence toward self-efficacy, and self-efficacy did influence toward financial literacy and financial knowledge did not have any influence toward financial literacy. Thus; the learning process on Finance should involve three aspects; cognitive, affective, and psychomotor; and it needs the development of learning model on Finance to involve students’ activeness in managing their financial activities.

Abstract

Peningkatan mutu guru harus menjadi perhatian serius perguruan tinggi dengan melaksanakan reformasi perguruan tinggi yang menghasilkan calon guru   yang memiliki kompetensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kompetensi calon guru profesional mahasiswa pendidikan ekonomi universitas  negeri  semarang.Sampel  penelitian  sebanyak  81  mahasiswa  Pendidikan  Ekomomi  Angkatan  2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data berupa angket. Metode  analisis  yang  digunakan  adalah  analisis  statistik  deskriptif.  Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi calon guru dilihat dari kompetensi Dapat disimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa pendidikan ekonomi  sudah menguasai dengan baik kompetensi guru dilihat dari kompetensi profesional, pedagogik, kepribadian, dan sosial mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Ekonomi di Universitas Negeri Semarang berada dalam kriteria baik. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa telah siap menjadi guru yang berkompeten. The improving of teachers’ quality should be a serious concern for universities by implementing reformation of university that develops prospective teachers who have competences. This research aims to describe professional competence of prospective teachers in economic education students at  Universitas  Negeri  Semarang.The  sample  of  the  research  was  81  students  of  Economic Education batch 2013. This research used quantitative approach with inquiry method for collecting the data. Analysis method used descriptive statistics analysis. The results of the research show that professional competence of prospective teachers in economic education seen by professional was 64%, pedagogic competence was 74%, personality competence was 60%, social competence was 75%.Based on the results, it can be concluded that prospective teachers had understood the teacher competence seen by professional, pedagogic, personality, and social competence of Economic Education students at Universitas Negeri Semarang that was in good category.  It shows that students had been ready to be competent teachers.

Abstract

The existing data shows that the average number of the graduates of SMK Negeri in Semarang City who continued their study to universities was as many as 16.5%. It shows that the graduates interest in continuing study to universities has not achieved the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) of SMK which states that among 20% of SMK graduates should continue their study to accredited universities. By this finding, this study was aimed at knowing the influence of the socio-economic background and students self-potential towards the interest of continuing study to universities in the Eleventh graders of SMK Negeri in Semarang City either simultaneously or partially.The population in this study were the Eleventh graders of SMK Negeri in Semarang City, namely 5,067 students. They were sampled into 100 students by using Slovin formulae. Moreover, the sample was divided through proportional cluster sampling, while their data were collected by using questionnaire and documentation. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that there was a simultaneous influence ofsocio-economic background and self-potential towards the interest in continuing study to universities showed by the significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and Adjusted R Square of 0.407 (40.7%). Partially, the influence of socio-economic background contributed to the significance value of 0.025< 0.05 and r square as many as 0.226 (22.6%), self-potential influenced the significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and r square of 0.509 (50.9%) towards the interest in continuing study to universities. DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.17977/UM014v10i12017p052

Abstract

Perilaku konsumtif menjelaskan tentang keinginan untuk memiliki atau mengkosumsi barang secara berlebihan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Semarang tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang  berjumlah  511  siswa,  dengan  sampel  penelitian  84  siswa.  Penelitian  ini  menggunakan  pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data berupa angket. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh persamaan regresi Y=0,810+0,318X1+0,392X2+0,577X3. Pemanfaatan media sosial instagram, teman sebaya dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap perilaku konsumtif siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Semarang tahun ajaran 2016/2017 dengan kontribusi 52,9%, secara parsial penggunaan media sosial instagram berpengaruh terhadap perilaku konsumtif sebesar 11,28%. Teman sebaya berpengaruh terhadap perilaku konsumtif siswa sebesar 16,46%, dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua berpengaruh sebesar 16% terhadap perilaku konsumtif siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan, terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media sosial instagram, teman sebaya dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua terhadap perilaku konsumtif siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Semarang tahun ajaran 2016/2017 secara simultan. Secara parsial terdapat pengaruh antara pemanfaatan media sosial instagram, kelompok teman sebaya , dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua terhadap perilaku konsumtif siswa. Orang tua harus memiliki peranan dalam mengajarkan anak menjadi pembeli yang bijaksana, dan membeli sesuai dengan apa yang ia butuhkan. Selain itu, hal terpenting adalah pengendalian diri untuk tidak menjadi konsumtif. Ketika seseorang memiliki prinsip yang kuat, dia tidak akan terpengaruh dengan gaya hidup konsumtif disekitarnya. The consumptive behavior is explaining the desire to own or consume goods in excess. The population of this research carried out all of second graders student in the academic year of 2016/2017 in SMA N 1 Semarang that is 511 students, with a sample of 84 students. This research uses descriptive quantitative and uses quiestionnaires to collect the data. The analysis method used in this research are descriptive statistics analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The result of this research is the regression equation Y= 0,810+0,318X1+0,392X2+0,577X3. The utilization of social media instagram, peer group and socio- economic status of parents simultanously affect students’ consumptive behavior with a contribution of 52,9%. Partially, the utilization of social media instagram contributes 11,28% and peer groups affects 16,48%, however the s ocio-economic status of students’ parents affect 16% on student’s consumptive behavior.Based on the research, it can be concluded that utilization of social media instagram, peer group and socio economic status of parents simultaneously affect consumptive behavior of second graders students of SMA N 1 Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017. Parents should also play their important role in teaching their children to be a wise shopper so that they can select things that they really need to buy. At last, the most important thing is self control for not being consumptive. When one has a strong life principle, he will not be affected by t he consumptive lifestyle around him.
