Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe effectiveness of empirical inductive learning cycle model in improving of critical thinking skills of students in sub skills of analyzing arguments.  Indicators of critical thinking skills studied were identifying conclusions and seeing similarities and differences. Population was all 170 students of Grade XI State Senior High School 3 in Kotabumi. Samples were 34 students in XI Sains 2 class and 34 students in XI Sains 3 class that have equal academic abilities. This was a quasi experiment research using non equivalent control group design. Effectiveness of learning with empirical inductive learning cycle model was measured based on significant gain improvements of skill in analyzing arguments. The results showed that average value of n-Gain of skill in analyzing arguments in experiment and control classes were 0.62 and 0.42 respectively. The hypothesis result test showed that class which used empirical inductive learning cycle model had higher skill in analyzing arguments than class with conventional learning model. This indicated empirical inductive learning cycle model was effective to improve critical thinking of students in the acid base matery in state senior high school 3 in Kotabumi.Keywords: empirical inductive learning cycle, critical thinking skills of students

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the improvement of mathematical problem solving skills through the power of two learning strategies at grade VIII of SMP N 1 Rokan IV Koto. Quasi Eksperimental research used Randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population of the research was entire student grade VIII of SMP N 1 Rokan IV Koto.Random sampling technique used to selecting the sample. The power of two learning strategies used at the experimental class and traditional learning strategies used the control class. The instrument that used in this research was test. Before analysing the data, prequisite analysis was needed. The normality of data was calculated through Lilliefors. The result showed the data were not normaly distributed. Then, Mann Whitney was used to test. The hypotesis it was found zobserved = 3.586 and ztable = 2.24. It means zobserved> ztabel, H0 was rejected. It can be concluded that there was an improvement of mathematical problem solving skill through the power of two learning strategies at grade VIII of SMP N 1 Rokan IV Koto.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah University of Riau is one of universities in Riau and every college must do catur dharma which is the vision of all universities in Indonesia. One of the forms of catur dharma college is to carry out community service. Community service is an activity of academic community that utilizes science and technology to advance peoples prosperity and educate the life of the nation. The form of community service undertaken by Sharia Banking Lecturers is holding a seminar with the theme “Financial Literacy For Teacher and Student of Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah". After the holding of this seminar is expected teachers and students can manage finances well and in accordance with Islamic Sharia and can be a person who berkemudian in the future.

Abstract
