Abstract

Pengembangan batik cap perlu didorong untuk bersaing dengan batik printing dari luar negeri agar menjamin penghidupan para pengrajin cating batik cap dan pembatik serta pelestarian warisan budaya dan seni batik yang telah diakui dunia. Upaya strategis yang perlu dilakukan adalah inovasi teknik pembuatan canting batik cap dan alternatif  bahan utama pembuatan canting batik cap. Bahan alternatif pembuatan canting batik cap telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahawa bahan acrylic, kayu (jati), dan baja.dapat direkomendasikan sebagai bahan alternatif pembuatan canting batik cap dengan cara pembuatan menggunakan mesin CNC milling. Kata kunci: Batik Cap, Canting Cap batik, Eksperimen, CNC Milling

Abstract

Porang (Amorpophallus oncophyllus) is a plant which widely found in Indonesia. One of the main components in porang bulbs is glucomannan. Glucomannan is a very useful compound, especially in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries as well as other industries.The aims of the study is to examine the most influential variables in the process of glucomannan extraction from porang flour. The variables used were temperature, water flour ratio and coagulant type (non solvent) : isopropyl alcohol and ethanol. The research was conducted by two-level factorial design which consist of two stages. The first stage looks for the most influential variables and the second stage of optimization. Further analysis of glucomannan levels and white degree of glucomannan produced.Based on the result of research, it is found that the most influential variable in this process is the temperature. With an optimum temperature of the process at 45ºC with a 1:20 water flour ratio using non-solvent isopropyl alcohol. Keywords: glucomannan, extraction, porang, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol

Abstract

Porang  (Amorphophallus Oncophyllus) has long been known to the public, especially in the Magelang region. Porang contain very high glucomannan. Glucomannan is a water soluble fiber that is strong and low caloric hydrocolloid which is widely used food industry (noodle, tofu / konyaku, meatball, jely, artificial rice) and non food (cosmetics, capsules). Semarang State Polytechnic Hi-link Program in cooperation with the Magelang City Agriculture Office covers the cultivation, processing, and utilization of porang. Processing starts from tuber harvest, washed, chopped, dried, dipped. The washing process was initially done manually and simply with a brush and water spray so that the laundry was less clean and long-time. The purpose of this research is to design a porang bulb washer with motor gasoline drive to improve clean washing result and number of porang bulbs. The method used approach with of R & D (research & development) is to describe the current condition (exsiting), analyzing deficiencies, and improve performance for the better. Design stage starts from designing, manufacturing, and performance testing. The results obtained were porang washing machine driven by gasoline engine with power 10 HP, length dimension 1800 (mm), width 1200 (mm), and height 1200 (mm). The result of clean washing test with brush length 35 (cm), rotation of rotor 50 (rpm) and washing capacity of porang 1400 (kg / hour). The capacity of washing porang  1400 (kg / hour) is greater than washing manually, and the washing results are clean than more.
