Abstract

Upland rice prouction (Oryza sativa L.) in Riau Province was lower than the   previous year. One of the main constraints of upland rice is one of which is rice bug pest attack (Leptocorisa acuta T.). Eco-friendly pest  controls are offered using pestiside vegetables of gadung tuber extract (Dioscorea hispida Dennst). The aim of  the study was to obtain the concentration of  gadung tuber extract which was effective in controlling the stink bug pest on upland rice plants in the field. The research has been implemented in the experimental garden (green house), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau which from January to April 2018. The research is prepared using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replictions, ie the concentration of  gadung tuber extract 80,85,90,95, and 100 grams/liter water. The observed Parameters are, morphology changes and behavior, the start time of the death (hours), lethal time 50 (hours),  daily mortality (%), total mortality (%), temperature and humidity.  The results showed that the concentration of 90 grams/liter of water was an effective concentration for controlling rice bug pest control with an initial death time of 3.50 hours, lethal time 50 15.25 hours after application and a total mortality of 85%. Keywords: Upland rice plants (Oryza sativa L.), Rice bug (Leptocorisa acuta T.), Vegetable pesticides, Gadung tuber extract (Dioscorea hispida Dennst),

Abstract

Fruit flies are major plant pest in guava. Research aimed at knowing theeffectiveness some trap types forward fruit flies pest at guava plant (Psidiumguajava L). Research is implemented by using a randomized block design (RBD)with 4 treatments and 16 groups, in order to obtain 64 units of the experiment. Thetreatment is on trial is this: a ball, a cube, a card, a cylinderl. The data analysisstatistically to a diverse and tested the real difference to the smallest (bnt).Parameter observed is, identification of the fruit flies trapped, the fruit fliestrapped, sum of fruit flies male, sum of fruit flies female and sex ratio fruit flies.The results show the fruit flies trapped in a furious ball 79,25 flies, which isobtained fruit flies trapped by using a cylinder that 78,25 flies.Keywords: Fruit flies, trap types, ball, cube, cards, a cylinder, Psidiumguajava L.

Abstract

Aphis craccivora Koch is a major pest in long beans. One of the alternative control can beused to minimize the application of chemical pesticides. One of to control pest of cropcan use tobacco extract. The research was conducted at the Plant Pests Laboratory,Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from March 2013 until May 2013. Theexperiment consist of two factors with three treatment and four replicated. The first factoris cigarette butts with a sticker: L1 = Rolled 1g/l of water, L2 = Rolled 1g/l of water andlerak, L3 = Rolled 1g/l of water and cream soap. The second factor is infestation days: H1= First day, H2 = Second day, H3 = Third day. The data is analyzed by using the Analysisof Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%.The results showed that the better treatment is extract of tobacco cigarette roll butts 1 g/lof water and cream soap with the first day of the application because capable causingtotal mortality of 85%.Keywords: Aphis craccivora Koch, Long Beans (Vigna sinensis L), TobaccoExtract.

Abstract

To control larvae of O. rhinoceros using entomopathogen fungi such as B. bassianahas opportunity develope as a biological control agent. The experiment wasconducted in Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) from December 2012 untilFebruary 2013. The objective study was to see the influence and find the betterdose of B. bassiana local. The treatment tested were dose of B. bassiana 0 g/m2, 15g/m2, 20 g/m2, 25 g/m2 and 30 g/m2. The experiment used completely randomizeddesign with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The result showed that B. bassianacould control O. rhinoceros larvae can cause 77.50% mortality in dose 30 g/m2.Key words: Beauveria bassiana, biological control, Oryctes rhinoceros larva

Abstract

Fruit fly (Diptera : Tephritidae) are a major pest of guava plants which cansiderably lowers the production of fruits, both in guantity and guality. This studyaims to determine the durability of some packaging materials that are used tocontrol fruit flies in guava plants. This research was conducted at the Center forAgricultural Development and the University of Riau and Laboratory Plant PestFaculty Agricultural, from April to June 2013. This research was carried out byusing a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replication thenewsprint, black carbon paper, black plastic bags, cement paper, transparentplastic. The results of the study showed that the use of packaging materials thathold and effectively protect the guava fruit from treated paper material is cementweighing 151.450 g fruit, and fruit morphology yellowish green color, soft textureshape of a round and 51 days durability.Keyword: Guava (Psidium guajava L.), fruit fly (Bactrocera spp.), andpacking material

Abstract

Aphis gossypii (Homoptera: Aphididae) is major pest in red pepper plant who may createdamage. This study aims to test amount row trap plant in order to control attack leaf bug Aphisgossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae) at red pepper plants (Capsicum annum L.). Thisresearch was conducted at the Technical Organizer Unit Trial Garden and Laboratory Plant PestFaculty Agricultural University of Riau, from June to August 2013. This research was carriedout by using a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replication withoutplanting trap plant, 2 rows red pepper 1 row mustard, 1 row red pepper 2 rows mustard, 1 rowred pepper 3 rows mustard, 2 rows red pepper 2 rows mustard. The results of the study showedthat planting 2 rows red pepper 2 rows mustard is better because leaf bug trapped too much fromtreatment else with average 22,87 tails in red pepper and 23,06 tails in mustard. Every reductionof populations one tail leaf bug in red pepper, then populations of leaf bug in mustard to go up0,763 %.Keyword: Red pepper (Capsicum annum L.), Aphis gossypii Glover, and mustard (Brassicajuncea L.)

Abstract

Palm oil plant is one of plantation crop that grown by people of Indonesia, especially Sumatra (Riau). Setora nitens is one of the major pests in palm oil plantations. Management control to decrease the Setora nitens by using synthetic insecticides. Reducing the effects caused by synthetic insecticides, therefore need alternative in pest control techniques such as use organic insecticide derived from Piper aduncum L. The purpose of this research is to get Piper aduncum L. leaf powder extract concentrate that effective to control Setora nitens at palm oil plantations. This research was carried out experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments with 4 replications. The treatment consisting five level: SRH 0 (no concentration), SRH 1 (concentration of 25 g/liter of water), SRH 2 (concentration of 50 g/liter of water), SRH 3 (concentration of 75 g/liter of water) and SRH 4 (concentration 100 g/liter of water). Results showed that the concentration of 100 g/liter was able to kill Setora nitens by 45% and this has not been effective in controlling caterpillars Setora nitens because not reach 80%. The best concentration to kill 95% of the population of Setora nitens is 206% or 2.06 kg/l of water. Piper aduncum L. leaf powder extract has not been effective in controlling caterpillars Setora nitens at palm oil plantations. Abstract

One of the problems in the management of A. mangium is Helopeltis sp. attack. It is important to study about the biology of Helopeltis sp because current research and report of biology of Helopeltis theivora on A. mangium is very limited. The research was aimed to know the biology of H. theivora. The observations of pest biology were carried out in twenty repititions. Then the result was arranged into the insect life–table in order to easy analysis of the observation. The parameters measured were the number of eggs, fecundity, longevity of nymphs and adult insects.  An adult insect had the longest life span. The female and male ratio was 1:1,43. The Female maximum life span is 15 days. The total eggs produced by a female insect was 46,74. H. theivora had a high reproductive capacity with R0 at 11.40, T 28.09, r 0.09 and  λ 1.09.

Abstract

Weevil maize (Sitophilus zeamais M.) is an important pest in corn grain who are storage in warehouse. The research aims to get effective concentrations of soursop leaf powder in controlling the weevil maize (Sitophilus zeamais M.) on corn grain in storage. This research was conducted in the Laboratory Plant Pest, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau using a completely randomized design with                6 treatments and 4 replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 Sitophilus zeamais M. in each soursop leaf powder 0% (0 g/100 g corn grain), 2% (2 g/100 g corn grain), 4% (4 g/100 g corn grain), 6% (6 g/100 g corn grain), 8% (8 g/100 g corn grain), 10% (10 g/100 g corn grain). Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and least significant difference test at the advanced level of 5%. The results showed that the concentration of soursop leaf powder 10% (10 g/100 g corn grain) is more effective in controlling pest Sitophilus zeamais M. due cause total mortality of 92,5%, the early death for during 79,25 hours and lethal time 50 during 242,5 hours. Abstract

Mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.) is vegetable commodity that have best  prospect to be developed in  Indonesia Riau province. The armyworm is singnificant pest on mustard plants. The pesticide synthetic chemistry have many negative impacts such happened pest resistance, secondary pest explosion and environment pollution. The function of phyto pesticide such betel nuts is one of pest control way to decrease using synthetic chemistry pesticide. The purpose of this research is to exam or test ability some ectract concentration of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) pest on mustard plants. This research is done in Ethnic Implementation Unit trying field’s Agriculture Faculty of Riau University by using Completely Randomized Desingn (CRD) by 5 treatments and 4 replication.The treatments that given is some extract concentrations of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) seeds are: 0 g/l water, 10 g/l water, 20 g/l water, 30 g/l water, 40 g/l water.
