Abstract

            The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of storage period length under low temperature on host preference and host suitability for egg parasitoid, Trichogrammatoidea armigera.  In this study, Corcyra cephalonica eggs were used as the alternative host.  The result showed that the storage of host eggs under low temperature for 1.5 to 3 hours was able to delay host egg hatching until the day 5, however, for normal host eggs the hatching time was started at day 4.  This method did not exert a negative effect on host preference and host suitability for parasitoid T. armigera.  The rate of parasitism on the stored hosts was more than 90%, and it was not significantly different from the normal host.  T. armigera progeny (offspring) emerged from the stored host was also very high (more than 100%).  The result also showed that the percentage of T. armigera female progeny emerged from stored hosts higher than the normal host.  The female progeny emerged from normal host was 51%, while from hosts stored under low temperature for 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3 hours were 69,49%, 66,03%, 66,16% and 71,10%, respectively.  The results indicated that the stored host eggs under low temperature (1– 4 oC) for 1,5 – 3,0 hours did not kill the host embryo, but only delay the hatching times.  Therefore, the availability of a sufficient number of fresh hosts could be maintained in the laboratory, so that the efficiency of mass rearing program of T. armigera parasitoid could be increased.

Abstract

Effectiveness of Neem Extract in Controlling Armyworm (Spodoptera Litura F.) in  Lettuce Alfian Rusdy Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT  Research objectives were to evaluate effectiveness of seed and leaf neem extracts at various concentrations in controlling armyworm in lettuce. Experimental design used was factorial completely randomized design, consisting of eight combinations of treatment with three replications. Factors examined were firstly neem extract of seed and leaf and secondly concentration of the neem extracts, which consists of four levels for each of the 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%.  Variables observed were mortality, percentage of pupa, percentage of imago, and intensity of damaged plants.   Results showed that use of seed and leaf extracts of neem plant can control armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) in lettuce plants. Seed extract was more toxic than leaf extract of neem. The most effective concentration was 20 cc/100 ml solution (20%), followed by 15 cc (15%), 10 cc (10%), and 5 cc (5%).

Abstract

            The objective of the research was to study effectiveness of garlic extract (Allium sativum) at various concentrations to control golden snails (Pomacea Canaliculata).  The experiment was conducted in Agriculture Faculty, Iskandar Muda University,  Banda Aceh. The experiment applied a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 replicates. Factors evaluated were various concentrations of garlic extract, consisting of 4 levels, i.e. 5 percent, 10 percent, 15 percent, and 20 percent of water. Variables observed were eating activity, mortality, and rate of death.  Result showed that eating activity, mortality, and rate of death were significantly affected by concentrations of garlic extract.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purposes of this study were to determine the resistance levels of non-irrigated rice to green bug (Nezara viridula L.) after providing bio-fertilizers and dosages of phosphorus. This research was carried out in the Experimental Farm of Research Center for Agricultural Technology (BPTP) NAD, Banda Aceh. The research applied a completely randomized factorial design with 2 treatments, i.e., 4 dosage levels of bio-fertilizers and 4 dosage levels of phosphorus. The results showed that the percentage of damaged plants, percentage of eating inhibition, and the percentage of infected spikelet showed a significant difference between treatments. The higher the dosages of bio-fertilizers and phosphorus were given, the lesser damage and the greater the eating inhibitions were recorded, and the smaller the grains were broken.

Abstract

Preference of Rat (Rattus argentiventer) to Kinds of Baits on Rice Crop Alfian Rusdy dan Irvandra Fatmal Jurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Kuala Banda Aceh ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to identify preference of rats to several kinds of foods. This research was conducted at rice field at Aneuk Glee Village, sub district of Indrapuri, district of Aceh Besar. This research used Randomized Block Design non factorial, consisting of 6 treatments. They were unhulled paddy, rice, split rice, corn, split corn and corn powder. The treatment was repeated 4 times. The variables observed were percentage of damage plant, trapped rats, and ratio of male rat to female rat.  The result of this research showed that preference of the rat was significantly affected by kinds of food. Among the treatments, unhulled paddy was the most preferred.  However, at percentage of damage plant, the rats preferred rice to other baits.  The ratio of rats trapped was high at male rats. This proved that male rats in addition to getting the food were looking for their pairs, because female rats stayed more in the pit for feeding activity.

Abstract

The Effects of Piper retrofractum Vahl Fruit Extract On The Growth and Mortality of Green Stink BugsABSTRACT. The effects of Piper retrofractum Vahl. fruit extract on the growth and mortality of green stink bugs. Green stink bug is an important pest that attack bean pods of legumes plants since the flowering phase until the harvesting phase, resulting in a decrease in the quality and quantity of harvest. The objective of this study concentration of the fruit extract in controlling green stink bugs. Completely randomized factorial design is used in this study with eight treatment combinations consisting of two stages of green stink bug growth ( nymph and imago) and four P. retrofractum fruit extract concentration level of 3%, 6%, 9% and 12%. The research results showed that the extract of P. retrofractum is the potential to control the green stink bugs, where the concentration of 9% lead the green stink bugs, mortality reached 81.65% after 3 days after aplication (DAA). Mortality of imago and nymph, each reaches 73.35% and 83.32% at 4 DAA. Average time of green stink bugs’ mortality at a concentration of 12%, is each 2.65 days for nymph and 2.69 days for imago. In the other hand, feedeng inhibition of green stink bugs at concentration of 12% reaches 48.61 percent.

Abstract

The need for wheat in Indonesia continues to increase and reaches 3.9 million tons per year. Around 80% of this requirement are supplied from, Canada, Australia and the United States. Gayo highland that belongs to the territory of Aceh province is potential for wheat plantation in Indonesia. Wheat plantation, however, faces various problems, one of them is pest attack. Various insect species come to wheat plantation and are predicted to get food sources both from vegetative and generative stages. The objectives of this study were to investigate composition and diversity of insect species in wheat plant either in vegetative or generative stages by adopting survey method. The results showed that total insects found in wheat plants were 2,858 individuals covering 13 ordos. Occurrence and diversity of the insects, either in vegetative and generative stages, tend to similar.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui waktu kematian rayap setelah diinfeksi oleh cendawan M. brunneum sebagai biotermitisida di Laboratorium serta untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi yang efektif dari cendawan entomopatogen M. brunneum dalam mengendalikan hama rayap pada tanaman pala. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Hama dan Lamoratorium Penyakit Tumbuhan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala mulai dari bulan September 2015 sampai Februari 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yang terdiri atas 6 taraf perlakuan dengan 4 ulangan sehingga terdapat 24 satuan percobaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa mortalitas C. curvignathus tertinggi dijumpai pada aplikasi 1010 konidia/9 ml aquades dan 106 konidia/9 ml aquades yaitu 100% dengan masa inkubasi M. brunneum mulai tampak pada 1,83 hari setelah aplikasi pada perlakuan 1010 konidia/9 ml aquades dan mampu menghambat kemampuan makan rayap hingga 50,77%. Rata-rata waktu kematian C. curvignathus mencapai 100% kurang dari 4 hari setelah aplikasi

Abstract

Abstrak. Pala (M. fragans) merupakan salah satu komoditas rempah unggulan yang bernilai tinggi, sebagaimana Indonesia menjadi salah satu produsen terbesar di dunia (70 – 75 %). Saat ini dalam membudidayakan tanaman pala, petani mengalami kendala yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh serangan rayap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ukuran populasi koloni dan daya jelajah rayap C. curvignathus pada tanaman pala (M. fragans) di kecamatan Meukek dengan menggunakan teknik triple mark recapture. Rayap C. curvignathus dikoleksi dari pertanaman pala (M. fragans) yang ditentukan dalam enam blok (I, II, III, IV, V, VI). Koleksi rayap diwarnai dengan neutral red 0,25% dan nile blue A 0,05% di laboratorium . Hasil pengamatan menunjukan bahwa Total ukuran populasi koloni sebesar 347719.06 individu dari 23 koloni yang tersebar dalam luas areal 7325 m². Rata-rata daya jelajah maksimum Rayap C. curvignathus sejauh 35 m yang diduga pengaruh dari beberapa faktor lingkungan terutama makanan (mengandung selulosa) yang tersedia sangat terbatas.Abstract. Nutmeg (M. Fragans) is one of commodity of superior spices which has high value, as Indonesia became one of the largest manufacturers in the world (70-75%).  Currently in cultivate a nutmeg crop, farmers faced some obstacles and termite attack is one of causes. The purpose of this research is to know the population size of colony and cruising termites C.Curvignathus on nutmeg crop (M. Fragans) in Meukek, South Aceh by using triple mark recapture technique. Termites C. Curvignathus collected from nutmeg crop (M. Fragans) which determined in six block (I, II, III, IV, V, and VI), the termites collection colored with neutral red 0.25% and nile blue A 0.05% in laboratory. The result of observation shows that total of population size of colony is 347.719,06 individual from 23 colonies scattered in the area of 7.325 m2.  The average of cruising termites C.Curnignathus as far as 35 m that suspected influence of some environmental factors especially a food (containing cellulose) very limited available.

Abstract

Keefektifan Campuran Ekstrak Bawang Putih dan Daun Mimba untuk Mengendalikan Keong Mas (Pomacea canaliculata Lamarck)Abstrak. Keong mas merupakan salah satu hama utama pada pertanaman padi yang menyerang sejak dari pembibitan sampai tanaman berumur 1 bulan. Tumbuhan yang berpotensi sebagai molusisida nabati untuk mengendalikan keong mas antara lain umbi bawang putih (Allium sativum L) dan Mimba (Azadirachta indica Juss). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan konsentrasi yang efektif dari campuran  ekstrak bawang putih dan daun mimba dalam mengendalikan keong mas (Pomacea canaliculata Lamarck). Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yang terdiri dari 6 tingkatan perlakuan dan diulang sebanyak 4 kali sehingga didapat 24 percobaan. Aplikasi  Ekstrak Bawang Putih, Daun mimba dan Niclosan dilakukan dengan cara di masukkan  ke dalam  ember  perlakuan dengan konsentrasi ekstrak bawang putih 1 g/10 ml aquades, ekstrak daun mimba 1 g/10 ml aquades, ekstrak bawang Putih 0,5 g + Ekstrak daun mimba 0,5 g/10 ml aquades, ekstrak bawang Putih 0,25 g + ekstrak daun mimba 0,75 g/10 ml aquades, ekstrak bawang putih 0,75 g + ekstrak daun mimba 0,25 g/10 ml aquades dan Niclosamida 0,5 ml/10 ml aquades. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi campuran ekstrak bawang putih dan daun mimba serta niclosan berpengaruh terhadap mortalitas keong mas, penghambatan makan dan kecepatan waktu kematian Persentase mortalitas keong mas tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan tunggal 1 g ekstrak daun mimba sebesar 95,31% dan terendah pada perlakuan tunggal 1 g ekstrak bawang putih. Persentase penghambatan makan tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan tunggal 1 g ekstrak bawang putih dan yang terendah pada perlakuan campuran  0,75 g ekstrak bawang putih dan 0,25 g ekstrak daun mimba, sedangkan Kecepatan waktu kematian keong mas setelah aplikasi perlakuan tunggal 1 g ekstrak bawang putih lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, kecuali pada perlakuan Niclosan. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi tunggal ekstrak daun mimba lebih efektif dibandingkan aplikasi secara campuran.Efektivitas Garlic Extract dan Mimba Daun Campuran ke Control Emas Siput ( Pomacea canaliculata Lamarck)Abstrak . Emas bekicot adalah salah satu hama utama pada tanaman padi yang menyerang sejak proses penanaman sampai tanaman 1 bulan usia. Beberapa tanaman yang memiliki potensi untuk menjadi moluskisida nabati untuk menangani siput emas adalah Bawang putih ( Allium sativum L) dan Mimba ( Azadirachta indica Juss). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi efektif dari campuran ekstrak bawang putih dan mimba daun untuk menangani siput emas ( Pomacea canaliculata Lamarck). Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial terdiri dari 6 tingkatan pengobatan dan diulang jumlah total 4 kali dan yang mengakibatkan 24 percobaan. Penerapan Garlic Extract, Mimba Daun dan Niclosan dilakukan dengan menempatkan mereka dalam ember pengobatan dengan ekstrak konsentrat bawang putih 1 g / 10 ml air suling, mimba ekstrak daun 1 g / 10 ml air suling, bawang putih ekstrak 0,5 g + mimba daun ekstrak 0,5 g / 10 ml air suling, bawang putih ekstrak 0,25 g + mimba daun ekstrak 0,75 g / 10 ml air suling, bawang putih ekstrak 0,75 g + mimba daun ekstrak 0,25 g / 10 ml air suling dan Niclosamida 0,5 ml / 10 ml air suling . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan bawang putih dan mimba ekstrak daun serta niclosan mempengaruhi kematian, para hambatan makan dan waktu kecepatan kematian siput emas. Persentase kematian tertinggi dari siput emas adalah dalam pengobatan tunggal 1g dari mimba ekstrak daun yang sebesar 95,31% dan persentase terendah dalam pengobatan tunggal 1g ekstrak bawang putih. Persentase tertinggi hambatan makan adalah pada pengobatan tunggal 1g ekstrak bawang putih dan persentase terendah dalam pengobatan campuran tambahan 0,75 ekstrak bawang putih dan 0,25g dari mimba ekstrak daun, sedangkan waktu kecepatan kematian siput emas setelah penerapan perlakuan tunggal 1g ekstrak bawang putih lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan perawatan lainnya, kecuali pada niclosan pengobatan. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa satu aplikasi dari mimba ekstrak daun lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan penerapan pengobatan campuran.
