5. Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension through Numbered Heads Together Technique (NHT)

Abstract

This study focuses on students’ reading comprehension in a descriptive text which is a text type included in the syllabus of SMP/MTsN. This research aims at knowing: (1) how the process of implementation of Numbered Heads Together during teaching and learning process of reading skill, (2) whether Number Heads Together can develop students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text, (3) the students’ responses toward the implementation of numbered heads together in teaching reading skill. The population of this research was the seventh year students of SMPN 11 Banda Aceh. The subject of this research was class VII-5. There are 15 students. This research was conducted in two cycles which involved planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The data of the research were collected by reading comprehension test, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The research findings show that the application of Numbered Heads Together can improve students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. It can be proved from the increasing percentage of the students from cycle 1 to cycle 2.Keywords: Reading Comprehension, and Numbered Heads Together

Abstract

This study reveals that there is an increasing learners activity after learning by story telling method in the Kindergarten of Musara Ate, Blang Kolak 1, District of Bebesan, Central Aceh Regency, Province Aceh in 2014/2015 school year. In the beginning, there were difficulties faced by children  in terms of speaking skills in telling information orally in learning processes. The difficulties mainly in to comment on their lessons in the classroom. Secondly, learners always confused and difficult to get inspired to speak. Third learners mostly silent when the teacher opens the question and answer session, so the level is very low speaking learners. In addition to these problems, the students lack motivation in learning noticed that interest to argue no idea who will be disclosed. This study uses action research (action research) as much as two cycles. Each round consists of four phases: design, action and observation, reflection and revision. Based on these results it can be concluded that the activities of learners per cycle increased significantly. Of the five aspects of the observations which is an indicator of student learning activities that liveliness asked, express opinions, answer questions, active in doing the task, working in groups active in most of the authors observe already mastered.

Abstract

Tujuan yang akan dicapai dalam penelitian ini, adalah memosisikan posisi Pramoedya Ananta Toer dalam perdebatan realisme sosial. Dalam rangka mencapai tujuan tersebut, maka akan dilakukan analisis strategi naratif untuk mengetahui elemen sastra yang dapat digunakan dalam mempertanyakan kembali posisi Pramoedya dalam realisme sosial. Kurniawan menganalisis dan membagi tiga fase kepenulisan Pramoedya, yaitu priode praLekra ketika Pramoedya berdiri sebagai pejuang kemanusiaan dan keadilan. Kedua, periode Pramoedya aktif bersama Lekra. Ketiga adalah masa setelah pemberangusan PKI setelah penahanan Pram yang dalam pandangan Kurniawan merupakan fase sintesis yang melahirkan kedewasaan dalam menulis. Objek kajian yang dianalisis Gadis Pantai merupakan fase ketiga dalam kepenulisan Pramoedya, sehingga analisis ini secara signifikan mencoba untuk mempertanyakan posisi realisme sosial dalam fase ketiga kepenulisan Pramoedya. Analisis ini akan mencoba mempertentangkan permasalahan bentuk dan isi. Hasil analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat keberpihakan narator di dalam teks. Meski demikian narator juga berusaha menampilkan dengan alamiah tanpa memperlihatkan tendensinya dengan jelas. Karya Pram berjudul Gadis Pantai merupakan bentuk dari realisme sosialis yang lebih tepat berada dalam pengertian realisme sosial pascaStalin dan Gorky. Kata Kunci: Pramoedya, realisme sosial, dan strategi naratif

Abstract

Abstract: The developmental study was intended to find out the test result of the effectiveness of writing teaching and learning by using Whole Language approach; and to obtain the appropriateness of the writing teaching and learning model by using Whole Language approach at Elementary schools. The steps of the study included preliminary study, model development, model try out, and dissemination. The results of the study suggested that (1) the writing competence of the students who learnt writing by using Whole Language approach was better than those who learnt writing conventionally; and (1) writing teaching and learning model by using Whole Language approach could be accepted by the stakeholders well.Keywords: writing skills, Whole Language approach, elementary schools.Abstrak: penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hasil uji efektivan model pembelajaran menulis dengan pendekatan Whole Language di sekolah dasar; dan mendapatkan keberterimaan model pembelajaran menulis dengan pendekatan Whole Language di sekolah dasar. Langkah-langkah penelitian meliputi studi pendahuluan, pengembangan model, pengujian model, dan deseminasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) kemampuan menulis siwa yang belajar menulis dengan pendekatan whole language lebih baik daripada kemampuan menulis siswa yang belajar menulis dengan cara konvensional; dan (2) model pembelajaran menulis dengan pendekatan whole language dapat diterima stakeholders dengan baik. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of school based management in SD Negeri Genuk 01 District West Ungaran in terms of context, input, process and product. This study was qualitative evaluative research using CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model of evaluation developed by Stufflebeam. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. Test validity of data using triangulation technique. The results showed that: 1) from the context evaluation, school based management is needed by all stakeholders of the school to improve the quality of education; 2) from the input evaluation, human resources, curriculum, facilities, and funds were sufficient and ready to be used for the implementation of the school based management in primary School Genuk 01; 3) from the process evaluation, the implementation of school based management was not fully in accordance with the plan, especially in the decision making process and the learning process; 4) from the product evaluation, product (output) produced has not been as expected. It is therefore recommended that the school based management program continued with improvements in program implementation process.

Abstract

One of the main pillars of a countrys economy is the accountability of the stakeholders. In advanced societies of civilization, such accountability is insufficient with oral reports, but should be supported by written accountability reports. Presentation of financial statements is one of written accountability for the financial performance that has been achieved.The aim of this research is how to know financial performance of Badan Perijinan Terpadu dan Penanaman Modal  Kabupaten Serang is analyzed from LRA 2014 2016 using effectivity ratio and efficiency ratio.The research method used is descriptive quantitative approach. The results of the research show that average effectiveness ratio from 2014-2016 102% is very effective. This is because the realization of local retribution revenue has increased from year to year. The ratio of efficiency of Badan Perijinan Terpadu dan Penanaman Modal  Kabupaten Serangshowed that the average efficiency ratio is 92%,its mean that less efficient. This is because operational expenditure and capital expenditure increase every year. Based on the result of research that financial performance of Badan Perijinan Terpadu dan Penanaman  Modal   Kabupaten Serang. Keywords  : Effectivity Ratio, Efficiency Ratio

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the results of literary learning without using storytelling techniques, (2) to describe the results of literary learning using storytelling techniques, and (3) to determine the effectiveness of the storytelling model in literary learning. The results of the assessment show that (1) learning without using storytelling technique in literary learning does not reach completeness, (2) the learning of literature by applying storytelling technique has reached completeness, and (3) the effectiveness of storytelling technique of VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Sungguminasa. This proves that using storytelling technique can improve students learning in literature learning which is seen from the average value of control class, that is 75.3, while the experimental class gets the average value, that is 85.9. In addition, the observation data of each meeting indicates a change in student attitudes towards a more positive, both in terms of learning attitudes and activities. From the results of the analysis can be concluded that the application of effective storytelling techniques used in learning literature.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aims to improve the competence of developing thematic learning plans in improving the quality of thematic learning in class I, II, and III in primary school Ungaran 05. Subjek research in this action research is a low-grade teacher at SD Negeri Ungaran 05. The school action researcher was conducted in two cycles, with the stages of planning, acting, observing and reflecting in each cycle. The collected data is analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of school action research concluded that group supervision with collaborative approach can improve the competence of lower class teachers in Elementary School Ungaran 05 in preparing thematic lesson planning.
