Abstract

The Competitive of Soybean Used as Dessicant with Paraquat and Glifosat Herbicide on Stress of WeedsABSTRACT. Herbicide might be use for desicant to increase soybean seed quality at rainy season, however not all herbicide can be used as dessicant. Seed with a better quality will growth faster than weed will, they will form leafy coronet that shaded the weed and be able to compete against to the weed. The experiment was conducted during rainy season at PT Syngeta-Cikampek, West Java, started from November 2003 to March 2004. This experiment that was the second experiment was arranged in two-factor randomized block design with two replications. The first factor was the 21 seeds generated from dessicacy test in experiment 1; the second factor was the invasion status of weed that consist of weed invated and weed free. The observed responses includes the weed’s characteristics that consist of dominant value ratio and the soybean’s response that consist of the height of the plant, the length of the root, the weight of 100 seed. The data was analyzed by Percentage Change Test, Least Significant Increase (LSI) Test, Stres Tolerant Index (STI) Test and continued by Directed STI, The result shows that the seed generated from paraquat herbicide dessicacy at dose of 0.4 kg a.a ha-1 applicated at R2 are more superior than other seed treated by any oyher treatment.

Abstract

The Influence of Various Kinds of Herbicide Applicated at Different Dosages and Times on Soybean Seed Quality in Rainy SeasonABSTRACT. The experiment was carried out to study the influence of various kinds of herbicide at different dosages and times on soybean seed quality in rainy season. The experimental was conducted at PT Syngenta, Cikampek, West Java. This experimental was arranged in the split-split plot based of randomized block design with 2 replications. The main plot was the time application consists of: R6, R7, and R8 phase. The sub-plot was the application doses of the herbicide that consists of: no herbicide, lower dosage, medium dosage, and higher dose. The response observed covers the seed’s water content at harvesting, seed’s viability, seed’s vigor, the percentage of winkle seed, the weight of 100 seeds and the yield per plot. The result shows that the application of paraquat at lower dose and at R7 nd R8 phase yielding the highest quality compared to any other treatment.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and determine the viability and vigor of seeds of some species of plants in Ambon city market. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Seed Control and Certification Institute (BPSB) Passo and at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Pattimura Greenhouse Ambon from February to April 2012. The method used was testing seed with duplo system and using T test with three replications. There were eight seed plant types tested, i.e corn, mustard, long bean, eggplant, bitter melon, cucumber, large chili, and cabbage. Responses observed consisted of viability parameters, i.e. germination percentage, germination rate, and germination rate index, and vigor parameters consisted of simultaneity sprouted seeds and sprouted seeds pace. The results showed that seeds in the market city of Ambon, such as corn, mustard, long beans, eggplant, bitter melon, cucumber, large chili, and cabbage were in excellent quality, as shown by the results of the seed germination rate which reached 90.33 - 97.33% at laboratory test, meanwhile at greenhouse test the rate reached 90.33 - 94.33%, strong vigor with synchrony seed grow were 51.00 - 64.67%, and the growth rate reached 29.46 - 33.65%.

Abstract

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans H) is native to Indonesia, which has been known as herbal plants.  Its planting areas, however, are often hindered by the presence of unwanted plants. Weeds are among the plant pest organisms (PPO), which inhibit the growth, development and productivity of crops. Identification of dominant weed species is the first step in determining the success of weed control. This research was conducted in Hutumury Village, Ambon, with an aim to determine weed species composition and dominant weed species in producing and non producing (juvenile) nutmeg plantations. The process of data collection in the field was undertaken by a survey method. The results showed 18 weed species were found in the plantation of non producing phase and 13 weed species were found in the plantation of producing phase.  In the producing plantation, the dominant weed species was Selaginella plana Heron with an SDR value of 57.80%. In the non producing plantation, the dominant weed was also Selaginella plana Heron with an SDR value of 44.42%.  The overall dominant weeds in the nutmeg plantations belonged to the annual broad leaf weeds.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Rutong Village, Ambon City in order to determine the composition of weeds and weeds as well as weeds predominant in the nutmeg crop yield and immature. Field data collection was done by using a survey method. The results showed the number of weeds in immature stages are found 21 species of weeds, while on the stage of the producing plant 22 types of weeds found. In stage producing plant, the dominant weed species was Selaginella willdenowii Backer with SDR 42.41%. On the immature stage, the dominant weed species were weeds Selaginella willdenowii Backer with SDR 34.38%. While the dominant weed was an annual broadleaf weed.

Abstract

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum L) is a spice to be cultivated in Mollucas, Recently the population of colve plant has be decressed as a result of weeds that impended the growth of clove, especially in the nursery phases. The identification of weeds is the first step in controlling weeds, however until now there has been no research on the influence of weed communities in important as the base of an accurate weed control. This research on weed composition in clove planting area is important as the base of an accurate is based on summed Dominance Ratio (SDR), the point was obtained from 100 m dpl, 200 m dpl and 300 m dpl at the productive plant in Hatu Vilagge, Village Central Mollucas District). This research using weed survey method type quadrat method with sample plot size 1 m × 1 m. The result show that 35 species of weed, 19 family, with details of weeds 23 broad leaves, 6 grasses, and 4 cyperaceae in the clove areal planting in Hatu village. Keywords: weed vegetation analiysis, clove plant, different altitude   ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengenal jenis-jenis gulma dominan di areal pertanaman cengkeh Tanaman Menghasilkan (TM) pada ketinggian 100 m dpl, 200 m dpl, 300 m dpl dan untuk mengenal perbedaan antara komunitas gulma di areal pertanaman cengkeh Tanaman Menghasilkan (TM) dengan ketinggian 100 m dpl, 200 m dpl, dan 300 m dpl. Penelitian ini di laksanakan di Negeri Hatu Kecamatan Leihitu Barat Kabupaten Maluku Tengah. Metode survei gulma digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dengan pengamatan langsung di lapangan. Dengan melakukan analisis vegetasi digukan metode kuadrat dengan petak sampel berukuran 1 m × 1 m penelitian ini di peroleh terdapat 33 jenis gulma 19 famili, dengan rincian gulma daun lebar 23 jenis rerumputan 6 jenis 4 jenis tekian pada habitat pertanaman cengkeh di Negeri Hatu Kecamatan Leihitu Barat Kabupaten Maluku Tengah. Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the media and the storage period on the viability of clove seeds. The study was conducted at the Ambon Plant Crops Protection and Protection Center laboratory. The study used a factorial completely randomized design with two types of factors and three replications. The storage media consists of 3 levels, namely: Without the storage media, the media for storing rice husk and the media for storing sawdust. The second factor is the storage period consists of 4 levels, namely: 10 days storage, 20 days storage, 30 days storage and 40 days storage. The parameters measured were germination power, germination rate, and vigor index. Storage media and storage period significantly affected germination and vigor indexes but did not significantly affect germination rates. The results showed that the sawdust storage media was a good medium for storing clove seeds (Syzygium aromaticum L.). This can be seen in the results of the average germination of clove seeds stored in powder storage media with a storage time of 10 days giving better results of 85% compared to rice husks at a storage time of 10 days with a germination percentage of 65%.  Keywords: clove seeds, save media, save period   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh media dan periode simpan terhadap viabilitas benih cengkeh. Penelitian dilaksanakan di laboratorium Balai Besar Perbenihan dan Proteksi Tanaman Perkebunan Ambon. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial dengan dua macam faktor dan tiga kali ulangan. Media simpan terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu: Tanpa media simpan, media simpan sekam padi dan media simpan serbuk gergaji. Faktor kedua adalah periode simpan terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu: penyimpanan 10 hari, penyimpanan 20 hari, penyimpanan 30 hari dan penyimpanan 40 hari. Parameter yang diukur adalah daya berkecambah, laju perkecambahan dan indeks vigor. Media simpan dan periode penyimpanan berpengaruh nyata pada persentase perkecambahan dan indeks vigor tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata pada laju perkecambahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa media simpan serbuk gergaji merupakan media yang baik bagi penyimpanan benih cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum L.). Hal ini terlihat pada hasil rata-rata daya berkecambah benih cengkeh yang disimpan pada media simpan serbuk dengan lama penyimpanan selama 10 hari memberikan hasil yang lebih baik yakni 85% jika dibandingkan dengan sekam padi pada lama penyimpanan 10 hari dengan persentase perkecambahan 65%.
