Abstract

A study aims to understand the effectiveness of garlic extract in preventing the MASdisease that is caused by Aeromonas hydrophyla has beeN conducted in September - October2005. Fingerlings of common carp (8 - 12 cm TL) were immersed in 0,1000, 2000 and 3000ppm of garlic extract (10 minutes, 4 times, 4 days interval). Ten days after the last immersion,fishes were infected with A. hydrophyla (intra peritoneal injection). Survival rate and clinicalsigns of MAS diseases were monitored everyday for 7 days. Results shown that fishes Thatwere treated with 2000 and 3000-ppm of garlic extract do not show any clinical signs ofMAS disease and their survival rate (100%) were higher than that of the 1000 ppm andcontrol (83,33% and 61,11% respectively).

Abstract

The effect of containing curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb) on diferentiation of leukocytes of Cat Fish (Mytus nemurus). The aim of the study is to find of diferentiation of leukocyte of Cat Fish (Mytus nemurus). The study was conducted from March to April 2014 in the Experimental Pond and Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases of Fish and Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty of the Riau University. The method used was experimental method using RAL with one factor with 4 level treatments and three repliations. the result indicate that the best differentiation of leukocytes in the P3 treatment is total leukocytes (96.538 cell/mm3), diferentiation of leukocytes (lymphocytes: 96,67%, monocytes: 1,67%, and neutrophils: 1,67%) and the best treament of survival rate is P2 and P3 with survival rate is 100%.Keywords: Differentiation, Leukocytes, Cat Fish, and Curcuma Solution

Abstract

This research was carried out in November 2013 until January 2014 in the laboratory of Fish Diseases and Parasites, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science Riau University Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research was to understand the histological structure of liver and kidney of Mystus nemurus that is immersed with Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB extract. The method used in this study was experimental and the histologycal structure of the fish will be analyzed descriptively. The treated fish were immerse in 3 different concentration of Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB extract, they were (P1 (0.2 g/L), P2 (0.4 g/L, P3 (0.6 g/L). for five minutes/ day for 30 days period. The negative control were fishes that were not treated with Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB extract. The liver showed hemorhage, fatty degenerative and necrosis. The kidney showed necrosis and hemorhage. It was concluded that immersion of fish in Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB extract shown histologycal alterations in the tissue of Mystus nemurus.Key words: Mystus nemurus, Curcuma xanthorrhiza ROXB, kidney, liver

Abstract

This research was done in March - April 2014 in Fish Disease Parasite and Laboratories and an Experiment of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science University of Riau. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the addition of curcuma on feed to the total of erythrocytes , hematocrit , hemoglobin and the growth of catfish. A research method used is the design of random complete with one factor which feed containing curcuma with four standard treatment consists of , P0: control without given ) curcuma solution , the P1 ( curcuma solution with a dose of 2 g/kilogram feed ) , the P2 ( curcuma solution with a dose of 4 g/kilogram feed ) , the P3 ( curcuma solution with a dose of 6 g/kilogram feed ). The results of research shows that the addition of a solution on feed curcuma doesn’t impact the condition of fish blood because of poor environmental conditions. It can increase the growth of absolute weight catfish .The total erythrocytes is ranged between 1,25-1,91 mm3/ million cells , hematocrit 13,8-18,5 % and the percentage of hemoglobin 3,9-4,2 g/dL.Keywords: River catfish (Mystus nemurus), ginger, blood catfish

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was done in April - Juni 2014 in Fish Disease Parasite and Laboratories and an Experiment of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science University of Riau. This study aims to determine the types of pathogens that attack tilapia in District Marpoyan Damai Pekanbaru. The benefits of this research is to provide information to farmers about the types of pathogens in tilapia, so it can be the prevention of disease. The method used in this study is a survey method by taking samples in the field and analyzed in the laboratory. The amount of bacteria found from both the ponds was six species. Bacteria found in a pond one these were Aeromonas hydrophila, Basillus sp, Pseudomonas sp and Streptococcus sp. Abstract

This research was conducted on June until August 2016 in Parasites and Fish Diseases Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine science, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The aim of this research was to determine leucocyte differentiation of Pangasius hypopthalmus that were feed with curcumin extract from Curcuma domestica V. This research used five treatment such as; Kn (negative control): that were feed without curcumin extract and were not infected with A. hydrophila, Kp (positive control): that were feed without curcumin extract and infected with A. hydrophila, P1: feed with curcumin extract in 0,3g/kg, P2: feed with curcumin extract in 0,5g/kg and P3: feed with curcumin extract in 0,7 g/kg. Fish reared in an aquarium the size of 40x30x30 cm with stocking density 10 fish / aquarium, feeding as many as 10% of body weight and do 3 times a day. Pisciculture carried out for 30 days and after that fish infected with Aeromonas hydrophila. The results shown that P3 (feed with curcumin extract in 0,7 g/kg) were the best treatment with lymphocytes 83,00%; monocytes 5.33%; neutrophils 3,67%; thrombocyte 8.00%; total leukocytes 12,01x104 cell/mm3; and fagocyte index 58,33.Keyword: Leukocytes, Pangasius hypopthalmus, Curcuma domestica V, Curcumin Extract

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in July to September 2014 in Parasite and Fish Diseases Laboratory of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, Riau University. The aim of this research to understand the hematologycal condition of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were infected by ectoparasites. The method used in this study is a survey method by taking fish samples from one location and the fish sample will be taken in the laboratory and identified. Ectoparasite examinations will be done based on Kabata, 1985 and hematologycal parameter will be measured based on Siwicki and Anderson, 1993. Result shown that the three types of ectoparasites that were infected in tilapia are: Trichodina sp., Dactylogyrus sp., and Gyrodactylus sp. The average of hematocrit value of male tilapia was 19,7- 22,18%, the hemoglobin concentration was 4.07-4.8%, and the total erythrocyte was 1.483.000-1.680.000 cells / mm3, whereas the hematocrit of female tilapia was 18,9-21,6%, the hemoglobin concentration was 3,8-4,9%, the total erythrocytes was 1.346.000-1.562.500 cells / mm3. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in Oktober to Desember 2015 in the Laboratory of Parasite and Fish Disease of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, University of Riau. This study aims to understand the leukocytes differentiation Profil of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were infected by ectoparasites in Simpang Tiga sub-district Pekanbaru. The research method used in this study is a survey method by taking sampels in the field and fish sample will be analized in the laboratory, and will be identificied based on Kabata, 1995. The hematologycal parameter (leukocytes differentiation) will be measured based on Swicki and Anderson, 1974. The result shown that three types of ectoparasite that were infected in tilapia was Trichodina sp., Dactylogyrus sp., and Gyrodactylus sp. The total leukocytes of male tilapia was 92.350-103.400 cells/mm3 and famale tilapia was 89.375-100.200 cells/mm3. Differentiation of leukocytes such as lymphocytes of male tilapia was 65-73,5%, whereas the famale tilapia was 61,5-77,5%, monocytes of male tilapia was 22-31,5%, whereas the famale tilapia was 18-34,5%, and neutrophils of male tilapia (3-4,5%) was higher than famale tilapia (4-5%).Keywords : Ectoparasites, Differentiation, Leukocytes, Tilapia, Pekanbaru

Abstract

This research was conducted in August until November 2015 in the Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. This research was aimed to know the triploidization effectiveness in fertilized egg of ingir-ingir larvae (Mystus nemurus) with different fertilization and heat shock. The method used in this research was the experimental method; 2 factors, 10 treatments and 3 replications. Fresh eggs and milt were fertilization, then 1, 2 and 3 minutes after fertilization zygotes were shocked by heat shock 400C for 1, 2 and 3 minutes. The treatments were, P0K0 (as control), P1K1, P1K2, P1K3, P2K1, P2K2, P2K3, P3K1, P3K2, P3K3. The result shown that the best results in treatment Fertilization Rate (P3K1=31,06%), Hatching Rate (P2K1=65,74%), Survival Rate of 4 days and Survival Rate of 21 days (P3K3=71,82% and 41,67%), the length and width of a red blood cell were (0.192 mm and 0.123 mm).Key Words: Triploidization, Mystus nemurus, Old Fertilization, Old Surprise, Heat Shock

Abstract

This research was conducted on June until September 2015 at Parasite and Fish Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The aims of this research was to know the blood changes (total of erythrocytes, haematocrit, and haemoglobin) of Pangasius hypophthalmus that were immersed in curcumin extract and that were infected by Aeromonas hydrophila. This research use Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, five treatments and three raplications. The treatments was immersion curcumin extract with different dose i.e : Kn (without immersed with curcumin extract and without infected by Aeromonas hydrophila); Kp (without curcumin extract and infected by Aeromonas hydrophila); P1, P2, and P3 immersed with curcumin extract ; 0.5 g/L ; 0.7 g/L ; 0.9 g/L. Immersed with curcumin extract was done by 2 minutes every 1 week and repeated during 4 weeks and infected by A. hydrophila in day 30 with intramuscular method.The result showed that immersed with curcumin extract on Pangasius hypopthalmus of treatment P3 on the best dose ( total of erythrocytes 3.00 x 106 sel/mm3 , haematocrit 27% and haemaglobin 9.47 g/dl).Keywords : Curcumin extract, Pangasius hypophthalmus, Aeromonas hydrophila, haematocrit and haemoglobin
