Abstract

Aluminium is known as competitive trivalent and its occurance in an acidic environment causes ionic disturbances in aquatic invertebrates and crustaceans. An investigation was conducted to determine the accumulation of aluminium in the tissue of giant fresh water prawn (M. rosenbergii de Man) exposed to acidic water  (pH 5.0) and more alkaline media (pH 6.5) contaminated by aluminium salt (0.3 mg/l of nominal concentration of Al).  A static test with regular water exchange was employed during the experiment. The first moulting was recorded in all treatments at the first week of the investigation.  Normal moulting period, i.e. 6 – 8 days after the first moulting was observed in 55% of prawns in the media with normal pH (pH 6.5).  A longer period, more than 10 days, was needed by prawn in the media at pH 6.5 with 0.3-mg/l aluminium, pH 5.0 and at pH 5.0 with 0.3 mg/l aluminiun.  The third moulting was only recorded at prawn in media at pH 6.5.  The elevated aluminium in the acidic media caused the highest mortality rate and there was no mortality recorded at normal pH.  Most of the mortality was observed before and soon after moulting. The elevation of 0.3 mg/l aluminium in the more acidic water (pH 5.0) increased the aluminium and decreased the calcium concentrations in the prawn tissue. However, the magnesium in the prawn’s tissue showed its highest consentration at pH 5.0 with 0.3-mg/l aluminium. The decrease of calcium concentration in the prawn’s tissue was always followed by the increase of concentration of aluminium significantly (P < 0.01).  This suggests that the aluminium interfers the intake of calcium from the media by the prawn.  However the magnesium intake was not affected.  As a conclusion, the elevated level of aluminium in the acidic media increased the accumulation of aluminium in the prawn’s tissue and influenced the moulting behaviour of the tested prawn by interfering the absortion of calsium and magnesium, i.e. decreasing the calcium and increasing the magnesium concentrations in the prawn tissue.

Abstract

Penelitian pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup gelondongan ikan kancra bodas (Labeobarbus douronensis) pada padat tebar yang berbeda bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepadatan yang optimal. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan wadah transparan volume 150 l. Hewan uji berasal dari benih alam dengan ukuran rata rata 5.2 cm (TL) dan 1.57 g/ind (BW). Sebagai perlakuan, empat tingkat kepadatan dengan 3 kali ulangan masing masing 10 (A), 20 (B), 30 (C) dan 40 (D) ind/tangki. Masing-masing perlakuan diberikan pakan alami (Moina sp, Daphnia sp, larva nyamuk, cyclop dan cacing) dan pakan buatan (pelet) setiap hari secara adlibitum. Untuk mengetahui pola pertumbuhan (panjang dan berat) dan kelangsungan hidup, dilakukan pengamatan setiap 2 minggu sekali. Pada akhir penelitian didapatkan pola pertumbuhan sebesar 11.47 ± 0.68 cm (TL) dan 15.17 g/ind (BW) (A), 10.33 ± 0.58 cm (TL) dan 11.68 g/ind (BW) (B), 9.54 ± 0.87 cm (TL)  dan 7.86 g/ind (BW) (C), 8.67 ± 1.05 cm (TL) dan 6.17 g/ind  (BW) (D). Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan melakukan kajian  tentang hubungan antara keterampilan mengajar menganalisis materi pelajaran, menuntun siswa menguasai konsep, dan memberi penguatan konsep dengan pengasaan konsep gizi pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FPMIPA UPI. Sebagai calon guru Biologi mahasiswa Program Studi  Pendidikan Biologi dibekali dengan konsep-konsep yang diperlukan untuk mengajar serta dibekali pula dengan keterampilan mengajar. Salah satu mata kuliah yang ditawarkan kepada mahasiswa adalah mata kuliah Ilmu Gizi yang membekali mahasiswa dengan pengetahuan dasar, keterampilan mengukur status gizi, dan keterampilan merancang program pendidikan gizi. Selain itu, mahasiswa yang sama juga dibekali dengan keterampilan dasar mengajar yang mencakup keterampilan membuat rancangan kegiatan pembelajaran, serta mensimulasikannya di kelas pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Pembelajaran Biologi. Konsep serta keterampilan yang didapat mahasiswa pada kuliah Ilmu Gizi seharusnya dapat menunjang keterampilan dasar mengajar pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Pengajaran Biologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi FPMIPA UPI selama 2 semester.Data yang digunakan adalah data nilai pada mata kuliah Ilmu Gizi yang dikorelasikan dengan data nilai tes tertulis yang meminta mahasiswa merancang kegiatan pembelajaran pada topic Makanan dan Kesehatan. Jumlah mahasiswa yang dilibatkan sebanyak 74 orang. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik uji korelasi. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan bahwa korelasi antara penguasaan konsep Gizi dengan kemampuan mengajarkan konsep Makanan dan Kesehatan lemah (0,233). Keterampilan mengajar yang paling dikuasai adalah keterampilan membuka dan menutup pelajaran sedangkan keterampilan yang paling kurang dikuasai adalah keterampilan memberikan penguatan serta merancang asesmen. Mahasiswa yang memiliki nilai mata kuliah Ilmu Gizi yang baik (rentang nilai) belum tentu memiliki kemampuan merancang program pembelajaran yang baik pada konsep Makanan dan Kesehatan. Kesimpulan yang didapat adalah penguasaan konsep yang baik saja belum cukup sebagai bekal merancang dan melaksanakan pembelajaran pada konsep terkait. Diperlukan bekal kemampuan mentransfer pengetahuan dan mengintegrasikannya dengan kemampuan mengelola kelas.   Kata Kunci: pengetahuan gizi, penguasaan keterampilan dasar mengajar, korelasi.

Abstract

AbstrakStudi tentang perbaikan pembelajaran dilakukan dengan mengubah strategi pengajaran dan lingkungan belajar, sekaligus melatih keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Penelitian kali ini difokuskan pada proses merancang proyek untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa pada konsep fermentasi. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu perguruan tinggi di Lombok pada mahasiswa pendidikan biologi semester V dengan jumlah mahasiswa sebanyak 28 orang. Data dijaring dengan mengisi format lembar kegiatan merancang mahasiswa (LKMM) dengan mengisi komponen-komponen rancangan yang ada di dalam soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan berpikir kreatif dalam menjawab soa-soal yang diberikan dengan Gain sebesar 0,33. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa di kategorikan ke dalam tiga kategori yaitu rendah 35,7%sedang 57,2%, dan tinggi 7,1%. Kata kunci: berpikir kreatif, pembelajaran berbasis proyek, fermentasi

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystem of high organic productivity, with a high diversity of biota. On these ecosystems, diverse marine life such as fish juvenile, crustaceans, mollusks (Pinna sp, Lambis sp, Strombus sp), echinoderms (Holothuria sp, sp Synapta, Diadema sp, Arcbaster sp, Linckia sp) and worms (Polichaeta) (Bengen, 2001). The research was conducted at 10 stations. Sampling was conducted two times each observation station parallel to the shoreline and perpendicular to the shoreline using a small beam trawl. The results showed that the juvenile was found 27 species from 14 family. abundance average - average is 0.484 ind/m2 juvenile fish and the highest abundance at station 9 with the abundance of juvenile fish reaching ind/m2 1.40 and the lowest abundance found at station 3 and station 10 to the abundance of only 0.04 ind/m2 . The pattern of distribution of juvenile fish species tend to be random this is because in each station has similar characteristics.

Abstract

All sorts of turtle have registered in the list of Apendik I CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Spesies). The convention forbid the international trade of all products/result of turtle: neither the egg, meat or caravas.The purpose of this research is to know the nesting of Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) reviewed from the physical aspect and biology of Pangumbahan Beach, Sukabumi , West Java. The research was did on January 5th-7th 2011. The method that used is Descriptive Exploratory Method. The research material that used is Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), the nesting of turtle that include the outside vegetation, predator, the long and wide of beach, the temperature, the slope of beach, the moisture of substrate, and the composition of sand. There is 6 station based on Association of The Green Turtle Cultivation. Data collection was did by direct observation in locates. Based on the research result, the Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) in Pangumbahan Beach achieve 19. The width of Pangumbahan Beach is about 72 - 92 m and the length is about 3000 m. The slope of the beach is about 2.4% - 2.8%. The measured result of the sand temperature is about 28 ˚C - 29.3 ˚C. The composition moisture of surface sediments is about 0.05% - 1.13%, and the moisture inside sediments (50cm) about 0.26% - 4.1%. The sand particle of Pangumbahan Beach is dominated by the medium sand with percentage in each more than 25%. The vegetation that dominate is Pandanus (Pandanus tectorius), meanwhile kind of predators that find in the locate are Wild Dogs (Canis lupus), Red Ants (Oechophylla smaragdina), Crab (Ocypoda sp).

Abstract

Manyung fish (Arius thalassinus) is one of the bottom fish (demersal), which has significant economic potential. One of the measures that can be done to preserve the habitat of fish manyung is a rational exploitation. Information on the biological aspects can be provide additional information on the food and feeding habits and the condition of fish manyung morphometry, to gain a better understanding on the survival and growth of fish. The study was conducted to examine the contents of the stomach and the type of food eaten and the condition of morphometry of manyung fish were caught from the waters around Semarang, manyung fish samples obtained from collectors of Semarang in the krobokan. Manyung fish samples taken on July, August, September and October 2011, with total sample of 50 fish. Retrieval of data in this study conducted in the field and in the laboratory by measuring the weight, total length of fish, fish food organisms manyung frequency, and calculate the volume food organisms of fish manyung. Manyung major food fish (Arius thalassinus) by his preponderance index is a kind of fish with a value of 28.7%. Base of composition of stomach contents, types of mouth (sub terminal), the presence of tentacle, and the length of intestines (1,7-2 times length of the body ) can be concluded manyung fish (Arius thalassinus) is omnivores which tend to be carnivores. The results of 50 samples Manyung fish (Arius thalassinus) gained the most long range artifacts in the interval 55-61 cm (23 fish), weight range for most numerous in the interval 1.6 to 2.7 kg (30 fish).

Abstract

Turtle is an organism that spends his life at sea and be able to migrate long distances along the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Southeast Asia. The presence of turtles in Indonesia are increasingly threatened with extinction, both natural and human activities that lead to the existence of the endangered sea turtles. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving different feed concentrations on the growth of hatcling olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) The age of 2 weeks during the treatment period of 10 weeks. Data is collected from 21 August to 30 October 2010 using the experimental method. The study was conducted at Samas beach Yogyakarta. Feed given in the form of shrimp ebi 3% and 8% of the weight of biomass. The number of hatchlings that are used are 12 tails that are placed in six containers. Measurement of growth of weight, length and width of hatchlings carried out once every 2 weeks for 10 weeks of observation. The results of the study indicate that the hatchlings fed shrimp ebi with a concentration of 3% have a specific growth rate on average 0366 ± 0008 is smaller than hatchlings fed with a concentration of 8% on average 0425 ± 0006. The results of data analysis using the specific growth rate of the test statistic t with feeding treatment with different concentrations showed that the sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 or p <0.05. So it can be proved that the specific growth rate in both treatments were significantly different.

Abstract

One of the fish part of family Plotosidae are Sembilang. This marine fish are usually consumed by the peoples as smoked fish. Peoples know well this fish became of their good teste and has quite nutritious. Although Sembilang not been many studied, but research on aspects of reproduction and morphometry of Sembilang is necessary to prevent the decline in this fish populations. The research was conducted in October 2011 and was continued in April 2012. The samples of the fish taken in the fish landing base in Krobokan, Semarang region. The total number of the fish samples taken as many as 30 fish, with the length between 35 cm to 70 cm and total weight ranged from 250 grams to 1600 grams. The results of the data analysis for the GSI values in both periods (October 2011 and April 2012) obtained between 5,583 % to 33,417 %. The values of Lm in the study period of October 2011 was 36,808 cm and in period of April 2012 was 26,927 cm. Diameter of fish eggs obtained from the both periods (October 2011 and April 2012) between 0,1 cm to 0,8 cm. Length and weight regression of fish in the October 2011 showed W=(0,0171)L2,691 and in the April 2012 showed W=(0,0234)L2,621. The values of condition factor in the October 2011 between 0,843 to 1,111 and in the April 2012 between 0,812 to 1,324.

Abstract

Ribbonfish as demersal fish which is one of export commodity and can be found in Java coasts and estuaries in Sumatra. This research aims to determine the food habits of ribbonfish (Trichiurus lepturus) by analyzing the types of food found in the stomach of the fish collected from coastal area of Bandengan, Jepara Regency and the waters of Tawang, Kendal, both in Central Java Province. Food habits of fish was determined by stomach content analysis. The result indicates that food type of ribbonfish (T. lepturus) from Bandengan, Jepara, mostly were anchovies, long-jawed mackarel and white snappers. While food type of fish from Tawang, Kendal, mostly were ponyfish, followed by longjawed mackarel, and anchovies. The difference of food habits probably due to biotic condition environmental differences and like temperature, light, space and surface area.
